Konoha genin and chunin aptitude test: forest home

Home base forest

(A day-long trip from the village within the depths of the woods. The darkest reaches of the thickets guided by the experienced hands of the Anbu and joining on duty. The scent of burning wood and a hot pot of food awaits. A tent lit with the on-site medical examiners sitting on stand by placing cards by the fire or chatting quietly with small talk. 

Several hundred feet from the tent. Was several tents for each participant. Food and rations were supplied for a grand total of 3 days. 

With the arrival of the team, a shinobi will hand each member of their team a set of 3 tags. The rules for the competition was set inside of each tent. By dawn the examination will begin.)

Forest Battlefield advantages

+10  to Katon/fire jutsu while within the forest.
Futon/wind techniques have -10 power.

Dark forest

You guys will be concealed and as such your opponent's vision range will be 50 meters in any direction. Due to the poor lighting. You guys have spent considerably more time in the wooded area have a maximum visual range of 70 in all directions. Should anyone climb in the trees visual range increases by +20 meters?

Trees have a height of 35 meters and are at 1.5 meters apart.

The burning woods

The use of fire jutsu will be much more prominent. This may be a good thing in your favor. But also bad.

Katon/fire jutsu will ignite the surrounding area in a distance equal to half the distance of the fire technique used. This will burn trees, shrubs, and bushes respectfully at the same power of said fire/Katon technique. The burning lasts for 2 posts.  After which a thick smoke will cover the area filling up to 5 meters for every meter the fire /Katon jutsu traveled. Should a water jutsu affect the area this will instead not burn the area but will create thick steam instead?

While in the steam/smoke this will by intensive purposes be like wandering within the hidden mist technique. However, all vision is blinded if it is the smoke. Breathing in the smoke results in a -10 RT reduction. This lasts until the smoke clears the area.

Wind techniques of C rank or higher will dispell the smoke/ steam.

* the Battlefield is 300 meters from all ends. Being protected by a barrier ops team. Individuals cannot enter this barrier unless they have tags specifically for this event.*

This would mark the first time Suzume had left the village for real. The furthest she had been was the very outer edge of the Konoha forest, maybe a little more. Being the captain of a team on the other hand was a whole different story. It meant a different type of task to take on. She herself wondered if she would be able to pull it off, for she never really lead any team of sorts. The fact that her original genin team had fallen apart at the seams made her less confident. It seemed so difficult to function within a group to her, so the girl was particularly reserved for the matter.  

It was comforting to be starting out in the forest. It was an environment she was used to running around in. Sure these woods were something different, much more dense than anything she ever came across, but for all the days she spent hiding out among the branches and leaves it made up for what she lacked in confidence. She joined a circle around the pot of food kept hot by the burning logs. She kept quiet, trying to listen to the elder shinobi for any helpful hints in these trials as she ate.

Higuto didn't exactly know what to expect from this assignment as he sprinted along a winding path through a tree filled forest. He hadn't traveled this far out from the village before but it surprised him just how far the forests seemed to expand. However with his speed he got to the objective he was racing towards, a base of some sort, as he was told this would be where his team was supposed to meet. He was happy to see he wasn't arriving alone as he noticed Feza was already there and waiting. He halted his pace about a few meters away from her before giving a wave and a smile.

"Yo."

Upon saying this he would put his hands in his pockets and wait for the rest to get there while he tried to devise strategies in his head with how they should proceed things. Hopefully they would get there soon.

It wouldn't be the first time the crimson haired Genin left the comfort of his village, to venture out in the outside world, such as finding his first Summoning Contract. Finding those hellish birds out in the valleys far past the Konoha Forest was an endeavor, to say the least. A wave of nostalgia rushed through Tadashi as he soared, tree by tree. His red scarf tied tightly around his neck nearly flew through the air. The ginger's sword, Sekisetsu was strapped on his left hip, in replacement of his old katana. He had already prepared his weapons and tools, according to the letter sent to them about the test, dulling them meticulously as the main goal of the mission is not to harm. Looking down from a verdant tree, the ginger stopped. He saw two figures, most likely being their teammates.

He swiftly jumped down the tree walking calmly, to stop at about 10 meters away from the circle, smirking. Tadashi instantly realized who the people were, how couldn't he? A bright smile and wave conveyed his sentiments,

"Hey Feza, hey Higuto." He hoped he said it loud enough for the two to hear. Tadashi would then burrow his chin and mouth into his scarf, relaxing for the time being, yet still keeping a constant watch for any other members arriving.

Within the depths of the darkest and most dense part of the forest which surrounded Konoha, a boy could be seen walking next to another who shinobi who served as a guide to his destination. It had been almost an entire day since their travels had started and the boy was beginning to feel a bit fatigued and hungry. “That Yen… what have I gotten myself into.” The boy thought, pondering over his decision to aid in the Genin and Chuunin aptitude test. Regardless of how the Jounin felt towards the travel involved with the event, he could not say no to his former mentor; nor would he deny the eager Konoha Genin and Chuunin a chance to grow and advance their careers. As the Uchiha neared the camp site, he could smell the odors of food being cooked and burning wood, a signal that their travels would be coming to an end soon. After about another 20 minutes of walking the boy had finally arrived.

 

Upon entering the camp site, he was awarded 3 separate tags, each worth 2,000 points each. Ita was selected to be the VIP of the group that would be first stationed in the woods. Upon entering he was also informed of the tents, one for each member, containing 3 days’ worth of rations. For now, the boy would store the tags in his pocket and begin making his way towards the rest of the group that was standing around the fire. As he neared, he identified 3 individuals, 2 of which he had never met before. The one familiar shinobi being Tadashi, one of the Genin apart of his three-man team. The Uchiha was pleased to see Tadashi and he had high expectations for him for this event. The boy entered the circle, putting himself in the middle.

 

As he neared, the fire would illuminate the boy’s appearance, bringing him into perspective for the rest of his team members. The boy was 5 foot 8 inches tall. He had black, shoulder length hair that was tied to the back in a small pony tail that would rest on his back. He was wearing a black cloak over his Jounin jacket and black shinobi pants. He was also wearing black shinobi shoes and had two weapon pouches attached to his belt, positioned to the back. His skin complexion was pale and fair and his eyes a deep red- his sharingan activated as always.

 

Before allowing for any of them to greet him, he would begin to speak in a monotoned voice that was clear and concise. He was not here to make friends, he was here to promote the growth of the group around him and just as he had high expectations for the Genin or Chuunin around him, he was sure that they too had high expectations for him. “My name is Ita Uchiha. I am a Jounin of Konoha and I have been selected to be your VIP for this event. This event has been created to push you to your limits and test your abilities. The event is also meant to simulate real events that you will encounter in your shinobi career and you should treat it seriously. At this very moments there are other teams that are plotting to harm you and take your tags so you should treat this as if your life depends on it.” The boy would exhale. He felt like Yen, always talking. “Before I continue, let us please introduce ourselves and inform the group on any special abilities you may have. It will be important for us to be familiar with each other’s strong suits for us to work together efficiently as a team. Afterwards, it will be up to the leader of the group to begin making the calls. Remember, I am not here to baby sit you all. Tadashi, let us start with you.” The Uchiha would say, his killer gaze shifting to the Namikaze.
