Leaving Waterfall Village

Miyu sat in her room, once more playing with her fire and lightning element. She had found out quite quickly that there was no one who could teach her any useful sword techniques or abilities. So she resorted to learning how the hell she managed to mix fire and lightning chakra. She could know produce an almost blinding ball of light, or at least she felt it should have been blinding. Instead it just looked really bright, which was weird. Was she not able to blind herself with the light? That might make sense, maybe.

Miyu was wearing some soft pjs as she messed with the fire and lightning chakra again, now trying to form the light in each hand rather than forming the components in each hand and combining them. Her small room kept getting filled with light, though she couldn’t remain constant with the intensity of the light. She banged her fist on her bed, which she was sitting cross legged on, in slight frustration. Some of her bangs escaped the haphazardly made bun and fell into her face, blonde locks obscuring her vision.

“I can do this… whatever this is.” She still didn’t know how she even managed to develop this ability, her mother couldn’t have done anything like this. Her mom couldn’t even manipulate her own chakra well, if she had ever been a shinobi she had most certainly quit a long time ago. What about her father? He had apparently been some dead beat that died before she was even born, and no one in the village had even known who he was. Could he have been part of some clan though? She had never heard of any Akari other than herself, so if she possessed some sort of bloodline trait she wasn’t sure it was that of an established clan, maybe she was the first?

She let her torso fall back so that he landed on the bed, groaning quietly to herself.  She was supposed to just be a swordsman, or swordswoman in this case. She didn’t ask to be one of the ninjas who had a bloodline, was it wrong to have such simple ambitions. Reaching he hand towards the ceiling, she combined lightning and fire once more. Lightning streaked up her arm, flames danced around her fingers. If it wasn’t her own chakra taking on elemental form, Miyu imagine that she would be in pain.

Then it happened. The two elements combined, forming a sphere of light in her palm. But this light wasn’t like the light she had made before, like any light made by any Akari. This was a true construct, light made physical. It looked strange, and she closed her hands around the sphere, feeling its warmth as she brought it closer to her face to examine it. What… Now she was really lost. Lightning and fire, making something solid? Now she was just lost.

The next morning, dressed in the same outfit she had arrived in, Miyu made her way to the gate, katana at her hip and bag over her shoulder. It was late in the morning, getting close to noon, but Miyu hadn’t fallen asleep until late in the night. Still a bit tired, Miyu left the waterfall village, wondering where she should travel next. Somewhere else that had water, and was warm. Miyu liked warm weather, she didn’t have to wear a scarf or thick layers of clothing. And swimming sounded like fun, she hadn’t ever done that before. She had heard some other girls talking about going to go do that while they were dressed in what looked like underwear. She hoped that wasn’t what one was supposed to wear while swimming, she liked how she didn’t have to wear as much clothing but almost completely expose herself? That was just weird.

She left the village thinking about that, wondering if she could just wear clothes while swimming.
