Train on Empty Train on

Mon May 28, 2012 3:29 am
It was a fine morning; surprisingly no mist obscured the sun that day. The birds were out and chirping their songs to the sky with not a care in the world. It was days like these that reminded Nietzsche why he loved the mist village. Behind all the fear and past bloodshed the mist village was truly a nice place to live. Nietzsche pulled himself out of bed and made a quick pot of tea. While waiting Nietzsche gazed into his back yard it was now a thriving herb garden thanks to his earlier efforts. The kettle began to whistle and he swiftly and carefully poured out the water into his cup.

Taking his first sip of the orangey zest tea Nietzsche pondered the past few days. He now had a team to work with, but that did not mean he wanted to stop training by himself, if anything it meant he would have to train more. He looked back on the past two spars he had had and thought about what he needed to improve. Thinking hard he came to the conclusion that what he needed the most was better stamina so as keep going longer in fights. Finishing his tea Nietzsche walked back to his room and pulled on his workout clothes: shorts and a T-Shirt. He would need to increase both his physical stamina and his chakra stamina to be tested; this was going to be an arduous day of training.

Walking out his front door Nietzsche felt the warm sun shine engulf his body. He could already feel his pale skin starting to redden even after having been out for only a minute or so. Regardless Nietzsche set out on his long run to the water falls. His path took him through town, where he stopped for a second to pick up some fruit for lunch. And then he went on his way. Nietzsche chose to take the longest way to get to the waterfall he was going to. So he took the southern most exit of the city waving to the two guards and quickly explaining to them where he was going. The mist village guards seemed paranoid after the new Mizikage was able to break in so easily.

Getting his mind off the politics of the village Nietzsche looked up towards the horizon of the path he was taking. The path was not in the best of shape and as a consequence was starting to be taken over by the wilderness. So it surprised Nietzsche when he passed by a small caravan of traders bound for the city. The traders brought a grin to his sweaty face each one seemed to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and each seemed to bare it with a pride. Nietzsche hoped he could do that: carry his burden and carry it with pride. Continuing on his run Nietzsche finally reached the rocky crags where the waterfall he was searching for lay after running for about two hours.

Coming down to the waterfall he pulled out the apple he had purchased in town and took a bite. The sweet apple taste filled his mouth and after turning a corner he heard and saw the huge waterfall he had been searching for. Striding towards it Nietzsche removed his shoes and his shirt. He then proceeded to sit under the waterfalls powerful stream of unrelenting water. Folding his arms across his chest he allowed the water to pummel his back. This would be a test of his pain threshold and thus he would increase his stamina by holing out as long as possible.

His first bout with the waterfall lasted only five minutes. Crawling out of the water’s stream Nietzsche sat on the soft carpet of moss that ringed the waterfall waiting for his back to stop burning. Luckily at this point the sun had been swallowed by the clouds, otherwise Nietzsche’s back would have been sunburned to a crisp. Getting his stamina back up Nietzsche returned to the waterfall and put his back under the force of nature. This time he lasted 15 minutes. Time seemed to pass by slowly and flow past like a river that had an endless amount of water flowing from it. At last after another hour of waterfall training Nietzsche got up clothed himself and stated back on his run.

Nietzsche’s run took him back a different way into the village. He passed through a small grove of bamboo and ran by a large rice farm with perfect rows of rice that seemed to stretch on forever. It was truly a marvel in Nietzsche’s eyes; people could accomplish so much. His mind was shaken out of these thoughts by the interruption of a guard at the northern gate who asked his business yet again and continued on into the city back home.

A cool mist had fallen over the town as he ran back home. People were closing up shop and heading home; no point in doing business if you cant be seen. Nietzsche arrived home and lit up the lamps inside. He still had one last bit of training to do: the chakra stamina training. Sitting cross legged in his kitchen Nietzsche began.

He activated his chakra scalpel and let it burn through his chakra. For the first twenty minutes it was a cinch, but the next ten minutes it became more of a challenge. Sweat trickled down the back of Nietzsche’s neck. He watched as his chakra scalpel swelled with chakra. He was losing control of ho much chakra escaped from his scalpel. But he fought the urge to kill the scalpel and retain his chakra. He had to go to his absolute limit; no compromise. At last after forty minutes of holding the jutsu Nietzsche felt the last bit of the chakra leave his body. He slumped over and lay on his back.

Nietzsche’s eyes watched the fan on his ceiling go round and round. For what seemed like an eternity. Finally he mustered up his willpower and sat up and then stood up. Holing himself up with the table Nietzsche grabbed a bag of instant ramen and made it. Sitting on the floor Nietzsche ate his ramen in peace. Reflecting on the day he felt very accomplished he had done all he set out to do and now as his reward he would sleep in the next day and maybe even grab a donut or three to eat in town.

After washing his ramen bowl Nietzsche took off his shirt and pants. He then made his way to his room and slumped down into the warm soft bed. This was the life train all day and sleep in. Before falling into a deep sleep his mind drifted form topic to topic. He hoped this training he had done would help him fair better and last longer in the fights in the future. He also looked forward to his team’s first mission, which he decided should happen soon. Until that time though he planned to train his hardest so as to not fall behind the other. And with that conviction set in his mind Nietzsche drifted off into a contented sleep. (1203, stamina training 6 points)

Train on Empty Re: Train on

Mon May 28, 2012 3:48 am
It was mid day and the mist of the morning still lingered throughout the mist village. Nietzsche was on his way to the academy. He had offered to be a human punching bag for students to attack for training. He would block their attacks and allow them to hone their skills. He did not relish the idea, but his old sensei had asked him to do it so off he went.

Arriving at the academy brought back memories of Nietzsche’s time in the academy. Most of the memories of the academy were not the most fond, because of the death of his mom and dad had cast a shadow over his last year as a student. But, nonetheless it brought a smile to his face to see small ninja running around. Nietzsche walked inside and found his old classroom and talked with his sensei. Who instructed him to stand in front of class and he would call kids up to practice their taijutsu.

The first kid stepped up the kid was fairly small probably only nine or ten years old. The kid was not the best a attacking, but it the kid’s attacks led his arms to ache a bit. After the whole class had gone through and done so Nietzsche could feel his arms aching like no other, but he cold not do anything about it. Finally his sensei called up the last and, according to Nietzsche’s sensei, the start student. The “star student” looked menacing he was only 12 yet was as tall as Nietzsche. The “star student” took a swing at Nietzsche and Nietzsche blocked it with ease, but then the student pulled a quick combo and hit Nietzsche over the head with a karate chop. His head throbbing and his arms aching Nietzsche had had enough there was no way this kid would hit him again.

The “star student” pulled back his fist and started his second assault. It took a considerable amount of Nietzsche’s reflexes to block each hit as they came. No wonder this kid was the best kid in the class. His taijutsu probably surpassed Nietzsche’s own. Finally the teacher called off the student and the attacks relented. Nietzsche bowed to his sensei who promptly had the class bow to Nietzsche in thanks. As Nietzsche left he felt the ache and pain of his arms and legs descend upon him. Blocking all those hits, no matter how weak or poorly paced, took a toll. Nietzsche merely wished to go home and that is what he did. (423, health 2 points)

Train on Empty Re: Train on

Mon May 28, 2012 4:10 am
Nietzsche had traveled out to the beach yet again. The waves were rolling in smoothly and each one crested with a beautiful white cap. The ocean was a deep indigo color and the wind smelled like salt. Nietzsche smiled in spite of himself. He had come out here to train, but all he really wanted to do was swim. Straightening out his mind Nietzsche focused on the task at hand. He had come to the ocean to try a new training method to boost his stamina while running: he would run through the water at wait height thus giving more resistance and in turn tiring him out more. All he had to do was wait for a lull in the tides.

Two hours later Nietzsche’s chance came. The sea had died down for now and the tides were at a relative standstill. Sloshing out to the water Nietzsche reached waist level fairly quickly. Setting his watch Nietzsche began. At first he was tempted to use chakra to assist himself in running through water, but he promptly put himself in check and ran on. Each step felt like it was worth five steps on land. Nietzsche could feel himself getting tired already-this was good.

After another half an hour of running under the beating sun it was hard to tell whether he had sweat or water on him. Each step took a full force of willpower from Nietzsche as he started to run low on energy. He had to dig deep in his energy store to reach the 40 minute mark, but he reached it and quickly sloshed out of the water. Once he reached shore he started to run back to his starting place where he had left his shirt. Compared to running in the water Nietzsche felt like he was running through the air. Though the run was a bit longer than it needed to be, because Nietzsche chose to take a “shortcut” and crisscross across the dunes. He felt the end of his energy coming fast so for the last half mile he sprinted with all his might; moving his body more by muscle memory than willpower now.

When he reached the starting point he sat down and breathed heavily for a while and drank a large bottle of water he had brought with him. Laughing to himself Nietzsche got up and headed home. His body felt resilient and more conditioned than it ever had been all in all it was a good bout of training. (418, stamina, 2 points)

Train on Empty Re: Train on

Mon May 28, 2012 5:44 am
A cool wind blew over the entire village hidden in the mist. In fact Nietzsche had put on his jacket as he left the house. He was off to the lake to train up his chakra abilities. He had yet to decide how exactly he was going to train, but his goal was to make it fun and not just work. With him he took a set a fishing rod for the sake of fun. Walking through town he stopped by the bakery and picked up a loaf of bread for lunch and a sticky bun to eat while he hiked out to the lake. As he departed the bakery he took a look at the new missing-nin posters. Looking at the posters Nietzsche grew disgusted he could still not fathom why someone would betray their village and go rogue and he hoped he never would. Shaking his mind off missing-nins by taking a bite of his sticky buns he walked right out the main gate and took the side road, which led to the lake.

After 20 minutes of walking he arrived at the lake. A large gust of wind blew across the lake disrupting the glassy surface and distorting any reflection that came to rest on it. Nietzsche shivered it was unusually cold. Regardless he took off his jacket, because he hoped with a bit of training he would be all warmed up. Walking towards the water Nietzsche grimaced as he took his first steps onto the water. He never really liked taking the first couple of steps, but he knew it was key to better chakra control.

Nietzsche started doing jumping jacks while on the water. This required him to constantly adjust his chakra to the point he was at the jumping sequence. After about 500 jumping jacks he moved on to push ups. It felt weird to Nietzsche as he went up and down watching the water below him. It was truly a wonder that he did not fall straight through to the bottom. After 50 push ups he transitioned to a running pace. Nietzsche started running at full tilt around the lake. He jumped the hurtles of logs and roots that stood in his way. Finally he took on his last warm up test: transitioning from water to land and back again flawlessly. It had been a while sense Nietzsche had last done this so he hoped it just came naturally. And to his surprise it did. He ran from land tot water and felt no difference save for the mild chakra drain he felt. Slowing down he came to rest at the shore.

Walking to a log Nietzsche sat down and caught his breath real quick until he walked over to the tallest tree he could find. The tree was old it looked like it had been there since the dawn of time, old and knurled, but tall and strong. It dwarfed those trees around it. Smiling Nietzsche approached the wide trunk and prepared to climb the tree. Jumping up he shifted the chakra to his feet. At first he knew he was gripping too hard when he heard a cracking noise in the wood so he quickly adjusted it to reach a perfect equilibrium. Then he took one step up and stated to ascend the tree with perfect form. At last Nietzsche reached his goal: the very top. From the top of the elder tree he could see all over the main island of the land of water. Houses looked like nothing and trees looked like small pieces of broccoli. This must be why Taka want to reach the sky so badly…its wonderful. Coming back to reality Nietzsche jumped down to the nearest tree.

This next part of tree walking training would force him to think quickly as he would jump out towards trees at odd angles and have to either exert chakra through his hands or his feet. Nietzsche felt like a monkey now as he jump towards this tree and that tree. It seemed that every other tree he would end up hanging from with his palms open forcing him to grip tightly with chakra. At one point he was left doing a handstand with one hand while being horizontal with the ground. He slowly made his way back to the lake allowing himself to at least touch base with every tree he saw. It was a magical feeling moving through the tree like an animal. Nietzsche felt so free. At last he arrived back at the lakeside. Reaching his lunch and fishing rod Nietzsche stopped and took a short break.

Grabbing a bit of bread Nietzsche affixed it to the hook on his fishing rod. He then walked to edge of the lake and looked down into it. There were small bugs that seemed to skate across the water with ease. He then cast out his rod into the water and set up the rod underneath a rock so it would hold while he went to grab his lunch. Grabbing his lunch of a fresh loaf of bread Nietzsche smiled. The smell of fresh bread was one of the best in world. All he had left to do was sit and wait for a fish to fall victim to his hook. Half and hour passed yet no fish even nibbled at his hook. Nietzsche was fine with that, because he was already feeling tired form the previous training. Pus it gave him time to devour his loaf of bread.

Just as Nietzsche was finishing the last bit of his sandwich he felt a tug on his rod. Quickly shoving the rest of his bread into his mouth Nietzsche set the hook in the fish with a stern tug. He then began to reel it in. The fish was a fighter and it was not easy, because Nietzsche did not want to lose the fish. He only needed one and he wasn’t in the mood for waiting any longer. The final fight was on and after another 30 seconds of fight the fish gave up and accepted its supposed demise. But luckily for this fish Nietzsche had no plan to kill this fish.

Pulling the fish in Nietzsche was happy to see it was a fairly large fish at least a foot in length. Nietzsche reached into the fish’s mouth and removed the hook. To which the fish replied by biting down onto Nietzsche’s fingers. Wincing in pain Nietzsche moved his fingers around a bit and was able to free his hand and remove the hook as well. He then grabbed the fish and activated his chakra scalpel and made a small incision through the stomach of the fish. Blood started to ooze out Nietzsche watched as its eyes bugged out. He really hated to see any living thing in pain. So as quickly as he could Nietzsche took his hand and placed it over the fish and concentrated his chakra into the palm of his hand. A green glow started to be emitted from Nietzsche’s palm and the fish’s wound started close. Nietzsche then proceeded to continue this process. After each cycle he let the fish breathe in the water. Finally after having done the cycle twenty one times Nietzsche released the fish. He watched as its black paddle like tail propelled it out of sight.

Still feeling pretty spry for all the chakra he had been exerting Nietzsche figured he needed to work on the thickness of his hidden in mist technique. As he recalled from his spar with Hikou who could see right through it made quick work of his mist clones. Walking to the edge of the lake Nietzsche extended his right hand into he air and he watch was mist rose from the water as he started to knead chakra into the mist. At first it was a very weak mist, but Nietzsche kept pouring in chakra in and it progressively got thicker and thicker. He smiled in spite of himself. He was going to push himself to the max. Releasing a burst of chakra he saw as the mist became almost solid. It became hard to see three feet in front of himself. Nietzsche broke the jutsu and allowed the mist to slowly dissipate. He stood at the edge of the lake breathing very heavily for what seemed like an eternity until at last he turned to the last of his training.

The academy basics were the training Nietzsche saved for last. Normally very easy with full chakra, but in Nietzsche weakened state it will take much more concentration. He chose to start with his personal favorite: the substitution jutsu. Surveying the area Nietzsche found the perfect driftwood log. Concentrating his chakra a perfect image of him appeared around the log. For good measure he went towards the log and slashed it with a chakra scalpel, thus dissipating the substitution. Nietzsche continued this progression of substitute and slash ten more times. Stopping to catch his breath Nietzsche moved forward to the next academy jutsu.

Transformation jutsu: a ninja’s bread and butter, but also Nietzsche’s least favorite jutsu. Looking around Nietzsche spotted a crane that was elegantly fishing in the murky water. Looking hard at the crane Nietzsche took every detail to heart closed his eyes and transformed into the crane. The real crane was clearly startled as it flew away and flurry of feathers. Next Nietzsche spotted a fish in the water and in an instant there were two fish in the water. He continued this transformation cycle seven more times stopping after he transformed into a turtle.

His last and final jutsu training for the whole day was going to be a hard one. He was running on fumes and hardly had enough chakra to walk on water. All I have to do is muster enough for the last clone jutsu Nietzsche thought to himself. At first he couldn’t concentrate and he could not even make a partial clone. Sitting down he cleared his mind and slowed his breathing. And executed the jutsu. Two clones appeared each a perfect copy of Nietzsche. He weakly smiled. Ok five more times lets do this. Each time was exponentially harder and harder. At last he reach the final fifth cloning cycle and with a puff of smoke one clone appeared and quickly disappeared. It was over. Nietzsche collapsed on the cool moist ground.

After an hour of lying still he pulled himself up and gathered his thoughts. Meditating Nietzsche cleared his mind and allowed his thoughts to flow together. This was his way of culminating his training into one moment he reviewed each sequence and saw each mistake and triumph. To him it seemed this training session had been an overwhelming success. Opening his bloodshot eyes Nietzsche willed himself to stand. He limp/walked over to his fishing rod, which he picked up and threw over his shoulder. It was time to go.

The moon had risen and it cast an eerie glow over the village. As Nietzsche walked the cobbled streets he wondered what other great ninja had done what he had done: trained their hearts out. He dismissed that as a stupid question: of course they trained how else would they have become great? Lanterns lit the streets and Nietzsche was happy to have their glow to guide him home otherwise he doubted in his state that he would ever make it home at all. He passed what sounded like a loud party and almost considered going in, but then thought better of it when he saw a drunk old man stumble out with a bamboozled face on. At long last he arrived at his doorstep. Pushing his door in Nietzsche walked to the shower and showered with his clothes on completely oblivious to the fact that he had left the front door wide open. Taking his clothes off he ran tot he front door and quickly closed it. He then proceeded to drag himself all the way to his bedroom and fall asleep on his bedroom floor. (2012 words 10 chakra points)
