"If you aren't willing to put everything on the line are you even invested?" ~ Yhou Yu Yoshido

~ Finally after literally scrubbing floors, planting crops, and catching runaway kittens, Sumiko had transcended the E-Rank mission restriction that was heavily imposed on those of the Academy rank. Her parents always told her that despite the lack of action these missions were more significant than even the most top-secret of missions as they directly connected the shinobi to their communities which was the foundation of what being a shinobi meant. Sumiko at first thought that her parents merely wanted to make her feel better about her low rank, considering her constant need to criticize herself, but as time went along she started to see such importance first hand. Sumiko had done everything from dumpling shop deliveries to pest control which always seemed to bring a smile and many thanks from the elders and younger adults of Sunagakure, which embued her patriotism with acknowledgment but she longed for more. That is what this D-Rank mission meant to her; the opportunity to finally show her prowess outside of maintenance. Step one of doing this was that being on time for team rendezvous meant that one was late! Sumiko, taking this to the extreme, was lingering about the village gates a whole 30 minutes early. Her parents always said to treat every mission as if their ancestors and the Kazekage themselves were watching so being late simply was unacceptable to the eager kunoichi. With this extra time, Sumiko was able to take advantage of the lunch specials going on in the village as she made sure that she was nice and satiated for today's mission. The smells of Benzo's Dumplings were always inviting to Sumiko as it was attached to many father-daughter lunches and most of her delivery E-Rank mission which meant that she was a "regular" in the eyes of Benzo, the jolly store owner.~

The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank) Senpai-ga-Uzai-Kouhai-no-Hanashi-05-26

Benzo: "Sumiko-Chan! I heard that you finally made genin!! Congratulations, I have your usual order being whipped up at the moment!"

~ Sumiko's attention had been drawn into the details of today's mission but the familiar sound of Benzo caused the kunoichi to pull her grey eyes up from the scroll to meet eyes with the man who was just about overflowing with happiness which made the girl crack a smile. It truly was refreshing to see that someone other than her parents were rooting for her success. Normally, Sumiko would decline something like this out of principle but she couldn't deny that she was both hungry and grateful for the offer. With her stomach quickly agreeing with her mind, Sumiko offered her thanks to Benzo and made a note to run a few more deliveries when this mission was over as thanks. Within a few moments of this, the bowl was presented before her by one of the many apprentices in the shop. The young woman approached the table with a steaming bowl, offered Sumiko a smile and a soft "Enjoy" before heading off on her way. It was at this moment that the girl looked from the mission details and at the food at hand.~

The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank) 2e943ba9d423b728c640ca40938de129

~ This way BEYOND anything that Sumiko could have ever dreamed! Sumiko typically treaded along the more modest spectrum when it came to most things, her food included not due to a lack of a pallet but more so wanting to be less of a "burden" to her family's finances, of course, whatever she would order from Benzo's certainly would never cause the Yoshido family to go into bankruptcy due to their financial status but that certainly didn't stop her. She wasted no time digging into the food which was as heavenly as she expected. Time passed by rather fast following that which allotted the girl now 10 minutes before the meeting time and Benzo's shop was conveniently positioned in a fashion that allowed her to see the village gates for anyone who seemed to be lingering around as Sumiko assumed they would more than likely be appearing around this time. The kunoichi offered her thanks to Benzo before grabbing her things and heading back out into the main streets of the village. Within a few moment, Sumiko once again was seen standing by the village gates.~

The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank) Empty Re: The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank)

Kaito kept a steady pace as he waltzed through the village, wanting to arrive to the designated meeting place stated on his mission dossier as to make a good first impression.

'Can't be late! Can't be late!' He thought to himself as he weaved his way through the endless crowds of people going about their day-to-day lives.

Today he would be taking on a mission with some new faces he had never met. While it was only a D-Rank mission, the young Inuzuka sure was excited, and this showed as the smile he wore upon his face spread from ear to ear. The last time he had been assigned a mission with another fellow shinobi was a few months before when he and Naki cleaned up the park at the Grove and helped in deconstructing an old apartment building and rebuilding a new one from the ground up. Overall, Kaito had viewed it as a fantastic team-building exercise, and he could only hope the same could be said with this mission as well.

Once the boy was just outside of the village gates, the designated meeting place as stated on the dossier, he perched himself on the ledge of a wall that led down a flight of steps and into the clefts of the naturally mountainous village walls, allowing his legs to dangle and sway with the wind. He hadn't felt this relaxed in quite sometime as quite a lot had happened for him over the past few weeks, and he greatly appreciated the serene nature that the day was bringing.

"What time is it, anyways?" Looking over at the large analog clocks situated upon the side of one of the buildings, he could see it read 11:45. With a sigh of relief, the boy wiped the sweat from his brow before removing his drink flask and the mission dossier from the item pouch upon the back of his left hip.

'Fifteen minutes early. Nice!'

Kaito looked over the all important scroll that entailed the details of his mission as he sipped away at the spring water from within his flask. The mission was one from the members of the Aramada clan, who were the owner operators of the Crystal Palace within the industrial sector of the village. The place, being entirely made up of glass, was the subject of constant vandalism. The previous night, however, the vandals had sure did a number on the glass manufacturing plant; bricks thrown through the glass with enough force to break it, and some of the equipment having been damaged as well. This vandalism would be dentrimental to the prosperity of the plant and could also hinder the economy of Sunagakure as well as glass was one of it's biggest exports.

Kaito shook his head as he looked over the document, tsking as he did so. He couldn't stand the amount of criminality that ran rampant throughout the village, and he knew that should he ever become the Kazekage himself, he would sure turn it around. Not that the Third Kazekage, or even the Second Kazekage, hadn't done a good job of it thus far, but the Inuzuka felt very strongly about the crime no matter how small. He would sure be tough on it and make an example of those he deemed were acting out of pocket.

Shaking the matter from his mind, however, he continued to look over the document.

'Anyways, who is it I'll be working with today?'

He traced his finger throughout the document until he saw his name. Looking intently next to it, he could see two more names; Sumiko Yoshida; a Genin, and Sebastian Mikaelson; a Chunin. WIth a smile, Kaito closed up the scroll again and put it and his drink flask back into his item pouch.

"Well, don't want to keep those two waiting too long." He proceeded to jump down from his seated position, landing gracefully on his feet as he reached the ground. With that, he would continue to loiter around until both Sumiko and Sebastian joined him.

Stat page:

As a famous intellectual once said, “Who the fook is that guy?”. Well, it would be none other than Sunagakure's favorite Berserker, Sebastian. Tall, muscular, all in all one scary looking individual. Safe to say, when you came across him on the streets he'be hard to miss. Easy to spot, difficult to approach, such was the fate of the young Tau. Keeping in mind the effect he usually had on people, the intimidating Chuunin made sure to avoid contact at all costs, save for a couple of others he strangely enough seemed to get along with. Anywho, Seb's lack of social skills was far from a secret in the Land of Wind.

For better or worse, and knowing all of that, the higher ups still decided it would make total sense to have him go on a mission with a couple of people he never met before. Brilliant. If it wasn't for his love of money, something he developed during his mercenary years, more often than not he'd look the other way and pass on some of the tasks. "I guess this is what they meant with responsibility". Being trusted by both the Kazekage and ANBU Commander, as well as becoming Lord First's apprentice had its perks, but also its expectations.

Aware his presence was required in order to deal with some lowly criminals who were part of some sort of clan, Sebastian prepared himself to head out to the location described in the mission report. "Hm, might as well test it out before I leave" the Berserker thought to himself. Forming the necessary hand seals, those being Dog - Boar - Ram - Rat - Snake, the Tau activated the Advanced Transformation technique as he felt the changes he envisioned in his mind taking place. No longer a body full of scars and the only things remaning his impressive height of 6'3" and the muscular build he always possessed, safe to say the tranformation had been a success.

Hoping his current appearance was slightly less intimidating Sebastian put on one of the hoodies laying nearby, pulling up both sleeves, revealing the tattoos on his arms. One final look in the mirror and off he went. The soft wind blew through his newly attained spiky pink hair while the breeze softly caressed his skin as he walked the Sunagakure streets on his way to the village gates. Nonchalantly carrying his Chuunin Flak Jacket over his right shoulder it didn't take Sebastian all that long to reach the destination.

When he arrived at the gates Seb suddenly remembered there were a couple of others supposed to join him on today's mission, all the more reason as to why the former mercenary started to scan the area looking for anyone who'd seemed as if they were the ones from the report. "Hm, that one looks like she just graduated from the academy" the Tau thought to himself as he looked at the girl who didn't seem to be older than twelve. "And that one looks like he's pursuing a career in parkour". For once Sebastian felt like he wasn't the odd one out of the bunch. The Berserker placed two fingers between his lips before a sharp sound filled the area as he whistled in order to draw everyone's attention. "Yo". Assuming both of them were smart enough to read the room they would approach Sebastian who in the meantime would look around in case someone else showed up.

~ As Sumiko was stepping out of Benzo's Dumplings she noticed a young boy standing by the meeting site. At first, the kunoichi expected that they would merely be conveniently perched around the gates so she wouldn't linger on the boy for much longer than a fleeting glance as she made her way to the meeting spot with her arms gently folded and rested against her chest. This meant that the girl now faced the boy's direction and he would still be in her peripheral vision as he looked through his mission scroll. As he concluded his reading of the mission scroll and hopping from his seat, Sumiko would be no more than a few feet from the boy and leaning against a stationary cart. Her grey eyes were lost in the movement of one of Suna's arteries but were quickly shifted back to him. At this point, there was simply too much that pointed at the idea that he could be associated with the mission so she decided to figure out if this was the case. The young girl first cleared her throat both as a means of preparing herself to speak and capturing the shinobi's attention. Regardless if this was successful in gaining her attention wouldn't change what she said to him.~

" Hey you over there. . . Do you happen to go by either name of Inuzuka, Kaito, or Mikaelson, Sebastian?"

~ The 12-year old's voice was light as to be expected from a young girl despite this her tone was loud and curious. Sumiko sat up straight from the cart before scanning her eyes over the boy for a slight moment. Should the boy respond to her, Sumiko would heed every word and render her judgment or lack thereof but their conversation would be cut short by a loud whistling which caused her to immediately look over to the source of this whistling. Another extremely large boy or man shouted "Yo." in their direction which made him stand out as a member of the trio since she had no idea who he was. It was when her eyes settled on this new addition to their squad that she realized something was a little off about this one but Sumiko couldn't put her finger on it and it really didn't seem important to her anyways but his unusual tattoos and the Chuunin flak jacket stuck out to the kunoichi as if they had been highlighted.~

(thought) "Hm. . . They look like they could handle this mission alone especially with us having a Chuunin. . "

~ While the strife that still riddled Sunagakure since the attack still seemed to loom on from what Sumiko heard could this be a residual effect of a lack of manpower in which senior shinobi are assigned to lower-ranked missions or was this a babysitting mission for her partners considering she had just recently graduated from the Academy a few months ago. Sumiko quickly tucked away from the latter thought due to her own pride. . . while she understood why such a thing might occur this was only a D-Rank mission and she was a high achiever in her class so it wasn't like she was noted to be incompetent or anything. . . or maybe there was more to this mission. The thoughts swirled in the girl's head like the sandstorms of the desert as all of her hesitations were overshadowed by the thought of this actually being a big mission in disguise.~

(thought)  "I'm going to blow this mission out of the park! Regardless if this is a big or small mission!"

The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank) F442392c28d3b20f3b799a065991f118

~ The plain disposition was immediately replaced with one of vigor and interest as the kunoichi hyped herself up and a warmth began to gather in her chest. Sumiko smirked to herself a bit before nodding towards the chuunin and making her way over to him, either with the other boy or a little afterward.  Once she had caught up the mission was ready to start in her eyes and she immediately kicked into gear.~

" Nice to meet you both but, we shouldn't keep the clients waiting right? I've never been in the industrial district though. . ."

Yusuke traveled along the rooftops at top speed. Shit! . He looked at his watch as he leaped over one of the larger gaps. His long brown hair swept back and held there by his shiny new Sunagakure headband, rustled in the wind. Today he wore green camouflage sweats and a plain white tee covered by his matching camouflage half cloak. His new toeless shoes clopped loudly as he ran. I’m gonna be late if I don’t hit the gas! He stated aloud as he approached the gates. The time was 11:58. He wished he’d figured out the body flicker technique his dad was talking about, but what could he do? You can only train so hard right? He’d spent the early morning training with his dad and hit the hay at 8 am. Almost oversleeping his very first mission.

Cleaning up the Crystal palace was a fair task considering he’d painted it a funky electric green in the past. If they don’t want people to mess with it should be less flashy… The boy thought. He could see a group of Shinobi standing around. There was a girl, a really tall guy, and a plain looking guy with a headwrap and nice face paint. He wasn’t sure that was his group, but after hearing the loud whistle he thought it was at least worth checking out. Yusuke descended from the rooftops and landed a few meters behind the tall guy not even trying to hide his presence. SSAAAFFEEE!!! He exclaimed as watched his watch tick over to 12:01.

Out of breath he asked So are you all here for the clean up mission? HQ said this was the only mission available today that I could help with. Sure you could use more hands. Yuusuke Sarutobi, new genin, at your service. He smiled with half his face and winked with the other presenting a thumbs up. Nice to meet you all~ He said before he drew his hand to his chin and squinted at the group wondering if would recognize anyone….

He heard the girl mention the industrial district before he made his entrance and quickly included himself. Ah, The industrial district! I’ve visited a few times. It’s the best place to… Never mind… He held back his mischievous past at least for now. I’ll lead the way! He started off in the right direction expecting people to follow and introduce themselves.

The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank) Empty Re: The Crystal Palace, Shattered (D-Rank)

Wed Mar 16, 2022 1:57 am

Kaito didn't have to wait long for one of the other members of the mission party to find him in the sea of people. Almost as soon as he had jumped down from the wall he had perched himself upon, he heard the faint sound of someone clearing their throat. Sure enough, after moving his head from side to side, he saw a girl wearing a Sunagakure headband leaning with their back against a cart.

It just had to be one of the academy students playing ninja, right? He remembered his days of playing ninja during his childhood in Konohagakure, and a much younger Kaito sure would've been jealous if one of the other kids was playing with such a realistic-looking headband.

He overlooked the girl, assuming he would be looking for someone more her senior. His attention, however, was quickly drawn back to her as she proceeded to question his identity inquisitively.

'I guess she really is Sumiko...'

"Well... Yes." He replied, taken aback slightly. He brushed the sand from his brand new set of clothes, which while similar to those that he wore before, were much more suited for life in the harsh conditions of the Wind Country. The main addition to the outfit, a set of bandages worn in a turban-like fashion and a cloth sheet that covered the right side of his face and back of his neck, was sure to keep the summer sun from baking his already tanned skin. Once finished, he straightened himself up and began walking over to the one he assumed was Sumiko.

"I'm Inuzuka, Kaito." He said, gesturing a wave as he smiled brightly. "I assume you're Sumiko. It's nice to meet you." Kaito proceeded to hold out his hand, inviting the girl into a handshake, but he suddenly heard the ear-catching sound of someone whistling loudly. He looked around for the source, and he guessed that Sumiko must have heard it as well as she too looked around. Then the sound of a gruff voice called out in the not-so-far-off distance. Kaito narrowed his eyes, prepared to fight for himself and all of those around him should it be some sort of attack, and the sight of a rather tall man walking towards him and Sumiko quickly met his sharp eyes. As Kaito placed his hand upon his item pouch, he quickly realized that the man was carrying a Sunagakure flak jacket, symbolic of those who had reached the rank of Chunin, and his arms were covered in all sorts of tattoos.

'Must be Sebastian... I really need to stop being so anxious...' He thought, remembering the day when he and Arantima had been attacked by a missing ninja at the Sixth Training Grounds. He had mostly overcome the traumatic results of that encounter, but it also made him more aware of his surroundings and the knowledge to always be on his toes.

One could never know when someone was lurking in the shadows; ready to strike...

Kaito hurriedly removed his hand from the item pouch with a soft sigh of relief. He looked down at Sumiko, who stood around half a foot shorter than himself, and cocked his head in the direction of the Chunin.

"Seems like that's the "Sebastian" we were looking for as well."

Sumiko took a headstart walking over to the man who had called out to the pair of them and Kaito followed a meter behind her. It seemed like the girl was raring to get started, something he could respect. It was hard to find someone with determination anymore, and he was sure that Sumiko would make the village of Sunagakure proud someday. Once Kaito was standing two meters in front of the Chunin, he stood at attention and bowed his head.

"Hello, Sir! My name is Inuzuka, Kaito, and this here is Sumiko." He spoke clearly as he held out an open palm in the direction of Sumiko, wanting to make sure he made a good impression on his senior shinobi. "It'll be a pleasure to have you lead us on our mission today." With that, the young Inuzuka righted himself back up, still standing at attention with his arms held behind his back and his hands cupped in each other. Kaito meant every word of what he said, too. With the number of shinobi in the village being a rather small one, it was a treat to work with others in a group. Sumiko proceeded to say that they shouldn't keep their clients waiting much longer, which he agreed with full-heartedly. Then, she proceeded to say that she had never been into the industrial district of the village. Kaito's lips pressed together in a grimace, knowing full well that it was a lot more hardened and dark than the rest of the village when it came to the nature of the environment and people there. He had been there a few times before during his walks around the village, and it didn't scare him much personally, but he always had the sinking feeling in his chest that he might be mugged, or worse, attacked, within its confines.

"The industrial district is... shady to say the least. The people are rude and the consequences of any mistakes unforgiving." He said, still standing at attention as he looked over at Sumiko while addressing her previous statement. "We will definitely have to be on our to-." Suddenly, probably no more than three meters behind Sebastian, someone landed from the skies above upon the ground. The person said something as they landed, but Kaito paid it no mind. In a flash, he had drawn a kunai from his item pouch and with his top [120] speed dashed to stand directly behind the person, the kunai against the back of their neck. The speed in which he moved from point A to B would probably look to be a flash of sorts to the normal eye considering his tremendous speed.

From Kaito's new position, he could clearly determine it was a boy dressed in camouflage and general gear reminiscent of a shinobi. He also wore a headband, which Kaito could assume was of Suna origin, but couldn't be too sure considering the fact he was standing behind the boy. This person's business was stated immediately though; he revealed himself to be Yusuke Sarutobi, a new Sunagakure Genin who had been assigned to their mission last minute. With a snort, Kaito withdrew his kunai and relaxed himself as he placed it back into his item pouch. He felt bad for mistaking his fellow Genin's arrival as a potential attack, but could one ever really be too careful?

"Nice to meet you too, Yusuke, and I do sincerely apologize to all of you for that, but you have to be careful next time, Man." He began walking back over to stand where he had been situated before Yusuke's arrival. "I would recommend not just jumping out of the sky randomly at people, and you may be fresh out of the Academy, but you better learn soon that the world of shinobi is not a place for fun and games. Only as a heads up I'd say that goes for you as well, Sumiko." Once situated, Kaito narrowed his eyes intensely and snapped his fingers. "You may not realize it, but that very well could've been your life snatched away with the snap of a finger." He proceeded to snap the fingers of his dominant right hand together, holding his arm up directly in front of his face and doing the action just as he said the word "snap" to drive the point he was trying to make.

Mission specs:

With his Chuunin jacket casually over his shoulder Sebastian noticed the young girl would be one of the first to approach him. "Of course it is, it's not every day you get to meet someone like me". These kids, they'd have no idea just how great Sunagakure's Berserker was, but they were about to find out soon enough. Ah yes, the Tau's confidence was high as usual. "I'm sure we'll be able to leave soon". For now he'd simply wait until certain their little group was complete, once that turned out to be the case the Sunagakure party could officially begin their mission and start heading out.

As he looked into the young girl's direction Sebastian would notice a boy standing slightly behind her, the one he mistakenly took for someone who practiced parkour. "Sir Sebastian, has a nice ring to it if I say so myself" the berserker voiced while accepting the handshake. "Kaito and Sumiko ay? Well at least it rhymes". Going by the Inuzuka name the former mercenary assumed the member of said clan to be accompanied by a ninken but from the looks of it, it seemed a bond had yet to be formed. In the meantime clumsy footsteps and heavy breathing could be heard from the distance, a sign the final and fourth group member had arrived.

As the individual landed about three meters behind him, Sebastian would wait to see how the others reacted to this unannounced surprise. Given the position their visitor came from it would've been child's play for the Tau to launch his Black Threads at the boy and skewer him like meat on a stick, but he decided not to. The first to take action was Kaito, quickly getting behind the stranger before placing a kunai on his throat. Although the boy's reflexes were commendable, he had been too hasty in his judgement of the situation as there would be no reason to deem the newcomer as a threat.

Fortunately, the young shinobi introduced himself as Yusuke Sarutobi, taking away any suspicion there could have been. "No, you're mostly late. Everyone, meet Late who decided to bless us with his presence after all". Once the formalities were out of the way Sebastian would direct his attention towards Kaito to give him a piece of advice. "And you, no need to be so on edge. Considering how loud and heavy his footsteps and breathing were, he would've been one crappy assassin". Not only that, his own speed appeared to be almost three times as fast as Yusuke's, meaning the Tau would've had no trouble piercing him with his Black Threads.

With their group complete it was now time for the missions to get started. "Now that everyone is here we can finally begin". Sebastian would then yank Yusuke's collar, keeping him in the back for the time being. "Kaito, you'll lead us to the industrial district. And you, my dear Late, will be the one collecting all the trash on this beautiful Bulk Trash Day". With a grin on his face Suna's Berserker announced the punishment given to Yusuke for not being on time. "Alright little shi-, kids" he'd correct himself on time before continuing. "Let's get this party started. Sumiko, sing us a song". With no time to lose Sebastian gave the sign they could start moving.

~ Her small moment of enthusiasm overshadowed her thoughts for a moment which allowed Kaito's introduction for them both to stand. . . that was until the Chunnin opened his mouth. The kunoichi could hear the snootiness rolling off of Sebastian's tongue as it slightly soiled the tender moment of Sumiko's first official mission since becoming a genin. Normally, she would turn the other cheek as he hadn't directly said it to her but, something about this boy really made him appear to be the cocky male type that she so much hated so her grey eyes couldn't overlook such a blatant disregard for one's teammates. Her excited expression dimmed slightly before she folded her arms and she watched Sebastian continue to ride this high horse off of the small greeting that Kaito had given. Her grey eyes shifted from Sebastian to the union of the two boy's hands for a moment and she instantly had immense respect for the Inuzuka because she would rather walk over the noon heated sands barefoot than give the chuunin a handshake.~

(Thought) "Is this guy serious??? They make arrogant snakes like you on a regular!"

~ Her small thought caused the girl's face to lighten up a bit just before Sebastian looked over at her which instantly had him face-to-face with the hardened pokerface that the pre-teen was known for. Unimpressed grey eyes peered back into her senior's but not before she had an odd sensation of a presence approaching them. This stood out to her due to the sheer speed of said presence moving much faster than those around them. . . as if they were late for something. Sumiko's sensory observation hadn't room to sprout before suddenly Kaito blinked from her peripheral sight which caused the girl to finally break eye contact with the chuunin but before she could really even turn to where he was the boy had reappeared but this time appeared ready to put out their extra teammate who she quickly identified to be none other than Bonehead of the Sand, Yusuke Sarutobi. They both had attended the Academy together but where Sumiko favored academics and perfection. . . Yusuke was more interested in practical jokes but somehow managed to graduate. The kunoichi shook her head for a moment.~

(Thought) "Great. . . so we have a professional slacker and a walking hot air balloon as the senior shinobi?? On second thought I hope that this mission is very basic. . ."

~ Sumiko's silence was prolonged as Sebastian spoke to the two boys and by this point, any sight of excitement was replaced by the overwhelming urge to get this over with as quickly as possible. The sound of the chuunin starting the mission was music to the sore ears of the young girl as she nodded towards him while he gave various tasks for them to do as a team. She found his selection of Kaito doing navigation to be sound given he had experience with the area while Yusuke's was reasonable due to him being late so much so that she just about missed the miswording that Sebastian almost had. Sumiko reconsidered the objectives of the mission and pondered what on earth that would leave her and Sebastian to do. She raised a brow in anticipation but it would seem that the chuunin insisted on getting on the genin's bad side and she had no issue giving it to him. With his request for a song for travel, Sumiko's eyes narrowed for a split second before relaxing. The girl pushed her long black hair behind her tiny ears before tucking her hands within the sleeves of her kimono.~

"I am a kunoichi of the Sand Village. . . not a budding songstress. . . You should invest in the musical arts or a song box."

(Thought) "Although, I'm sure a nice guttural scream of yours would be music to our ears. . . or silence even."

The boy was too fast, much too fast Yusuke didn’t have time to react at all. He saw the blade point at his neck and he froze. Oi Oi, what is this guy doing! Can’t he see my headband!

The tallest and highest ranked person chided him, refusing to use his name and gave him the brutal punishment of picking up all the trash they needed to collect for bulk trash day. Yusuke couldn’t be sure if the chunin was just intentionally being rude or if he was just messing with him. Yusuke wanted to believe the latter. He was a brat, but he was turning a new leaf. If his superior told him he needed to pick up all the trash in Sunagakure, he’d do it. He just felt he couldn’t do it with a kunai so close to him. Fortunately he also told the overzealous boy to lay off.

Y-yeah, let’s take it easy alright friend! I was just trying to make it here on time. I might have been a bit late. Hope I didn’t stall you all too long haha. A bead of sweat fell down his face from under his face guard. He hoped that Kaito would simply let him go. Once he did he’d let him know he had no hard feelings. Guess I scared you a bit huh? I’ll make sure not to do something like that again. He squinted his eyes and pointed towards him in a manner that implied he felt he had somehow got the better of Kaito.

Trash hauling huh? Yusuke’s eyes looked to the side. He looked annoyed, but he didn’t complain verbally. Alright captain you got it. You heard the man if you see any trash then let me know! He pointed a thumb to his chest, puffing it out before sighing and deflating a bit. Damn it I thought my first mission was gonna be easy peesy, but I guess moving a bunch of trash isn’t hard it’s just…Guess I need to prove I have skills to get something different... Yusuke was disappointed, but he cheered himself up quickly.

They started towards the Industrial district, and Yusuke kept his eyes peeled for trash. Sumiko’s snide response to the high ranking officer made him laugh a little. The words themselves weren't all that amusing to Yusuke in fact he was a bit astonished that a genin would say that to an officer, but the cold way she delivered it was funny. Then it hit him. Oh you’re Sumiko right?! Remember me from your class? I just recognized you princess, you look even more beautiful than when we last met~ He said his line while sweeping his hair back. He then noticed a pile of trash bags and ran over to collect them. They had a putrid smell. Like rotting food. Yusuke carried them back and returned to talking to Sumiko. Crazy we got our first mission together huh? Let’s do our best~ Yusuke was genuinely happy to see Sumiko as it helped him feel that he hadn’t fallen behind his classmates due to the remedial lessons he had to take to graduate. Yusuke saw yet another pile of bagged trash that he ran over to collect. He tied all the bags together making them easier to carry. He now held about 7 bags. I can’t actually carry every bag of trash! Maybe I can incinerate them… He thought about his options as they got close to their destination.
