(Mission)

Rune was heading to the mission briefing chambers to meet up with his partner he would have on the next mission he was going to be going. He had found his self in the midst of mission by chance so far in his career and this was going to be his first official mission given to him by the higher ups. He walked into the building and up to the desk where he was given a piece of paper and told that he was first here and that his teammate will be around shortly they were sure so just to wait somewhere out of the way. He took the paper and walked over to the corner away from the desk but in a corner on the other side of the room from the door so he would be able to see who he was going to be doing this mission with. He figured that they would go up to the desk and the lady would tell them that Rune had done got the mission and is over there.

The room was not very big only about a 20 by 30 room with about 4 people giving out the missions, and only one door but it stayed open since people were coming and going all day it would just constantly be swinging open and closed. Rune would be waiting in the corner till he saw someone come up to help with the mission. He figured that he could probably do it solo but since this would be the first mission that they would team him up with someone more experienced with the process the first few times. Which is probably why they only gave him a D rank mission. Looking over the paper he saw that someone had been stealing stuff from the people of Konoha. He thought that at least he may be able to see some action and get to try out his new jutsu if he was lucky, but since it was just a D rank mission it was probably some kid or something. He would wait for now till he saw his teammate.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Another day, another mission. He wouldn't mind going out for yet another one as long as it would keep him busy. Whatever the mission would be, it didn't really matter to Minato. The way he would see it, it was just more experience and more practice. So he would approach it the same as he would do with everything else. No matter if it was E-Rank or S-Rank, it had to be done and he would do it with the same mindset as always. Motivated, professional and ready to do whatever it takes to complete it successfully.

Regarding the mission, it would seem that there was a thief wreaking havoc in the village, going around stealing from the citizens. It wouldn't be Minato's first tango with one of those, as his first mission was also when he had to catch a thief. Luckily for him that mission turned out to be handled successfully as he was able to apprehend the culprit. Minato could only hope this one would also know a happy ending.

He would soon check his gear to make sure he would have everything he needed before heading out to the Mission Office. Putting on his shirt, making sure he would attach his katana to his back, his weapon pouches on his left and right. Alright, looking good to go. Grabbing all of his stuff he was leaving his house as he was about to move to his destination.

He wasn't really in that much of a rush, he took his time looking around the city and the streets to see if he could spot something that could be associated with his upcoming mission. It was a beautiful day as well, so there could be worse things to do than having to look around Konohagakure no Sato.
He had finally arrived at the Mission Office, it was only a matter of time before he would see what was in store for him.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Standing in the corner of the room waiting Rune saw no other than Minato the guy that beat him up a while back and worked on his last mission with him. Well then if they keep pairing us up I guess ill really get to know this guy Rune thought to himself. He walked over to the door as Minato walked in “so another mission with the two of us huh?” he would have a smile on his face as the words left his mouth. “I assume you know the mission then?” if Minato did not he would pass the paper over to him to let him read it if he wanted to. “We just got to catch a thief,” he said.

Walking back outside of the building Rune would wait to see if Minato wanted to take lead on this mission as he did have more experience than Rune did at the moment. The day was nice outside he hadn’t noticed before with being in such a hurry to get here for his mission. If Minato didn’t say anything as far as a game plane went. Rune would recommend they try some of the shady parts of the village first to see if they can get any leads.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Sun Feb 17, 2019 6:32 pm
To his own surprise it was none other than Rune who was waiting at the corner of the Mission Office. It seemed that they had paired the two of them up together. Maybe the higher ups had heard about how they were able to rescue the injured man a couple of days ago, which could have led them to believe that they were fit to carry out this mission successfully. Minato thought it wouldn't hurt to be assigned a mission with someone he had already met before. On the contrary, it could only prove to be an advantage as they know what each other was worth in certain situations. After they had greeted one another they would decide to get the mission going. Rune had asked if he was up to speed concerning the objective of their mission. Fortunately he was and so he would confirm to his partner of the day.

"Yeah I know what needs to be done, it isn't my first time catching a thief after all."

As they were leaving the Mission Office to go back outside, it was time to decide on some kind of approach. They couldn't just walk around looking for the thief, they needed to think this through. Minato figured he should take the lead on this since he had more experience than Rune so he should be the one to take responsibility as well. It didn't take him all too long to come up with some sort of plan, which he would share with his teammate.

"We'll start by having a look at the places the thief was spotted before, to see if we can find any clues or description of the one responsible for these crimes. It's safe to say he won't strike twice at the same places so we should investigate the parts of the village where he hasn't been seen before. It also wouldn't hurt to drop by the streets where it isn't as crowded since he might try and take action where there won't be a lot of witnesses who would notice him. With a bit of luck we might be able to catch him red handed."

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Rune was right in his assumption that Minato had done missions like this before and was probably one of the driving reasons the two of them had been paired up that and with the past work they had already done together. Rune was will to sit in the back this time and let Minato take the lead he made several good points about not being able to just walk around and find the guy, and Rune thought that going and casing the places that he has been seen around a lot was probably their best bet to start with. “I believe if we stick together we will have better luck as well and that we should start where we know he likes to hang out at. Okinaga District which was one of the bigger districts in the leaf village but it was where all the robberies had happened up to this point. Which would point us to the guy probably living in the district? If your fine with it I saw we start looking around their” Rune would tell Minato he would keep his tone even keel the whole time and not really showing any signs of excitement. Even though underneath he was rearing to go and catch this guy, as it was his first chance at real action since he became a genin and was allowed to go on missions.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Mon Feb 18, 2019 6:35 pm
It was a good sign that Rune shared the same opinion as Minato regarding the best way to approach the mission. After all, the only information they had so far were the places where the thief had committed most of his crimes up to this point. It seemed that it was always the same place that kept being brought up as the area where most people got stolen from. The Okinaga District. One of the most populated places in Konohagakure no Sato and also the place where almost every thefts had taken place. So the obvious thing for them to do was to pay a visit to the Okinaga District, hoping they would find some clues about the thief and how he goes around stealing from the citizens.

Now that they had reached their destination and had arrived at the district, Minato figured they should look around for possible witnesses who might be able to tell them more about the stealing individual. Even though gathering information was a very important aspect of a shinobi, it was also the part Minato found the most boring to do. But it still needed to be done and even by doing things like this he would be able to learn and get more experience.

As they were walking further into the district he decided to approach some people, hoping they had seen or heard something that could help him find the thief. No sooner said than done he had walked up to a small group of older people, asking them if they heard anything about all the stuff that's been going on, or if they might have an idea of who could be behind all of this. All of them confirmed that there were indeed a lot of incidents happening lately and even one of them told Minato that the thief wasn't afraid of using violence to get what he wants. Thanking the elder for their information he took off, continuing the search for the criminal. They didn't get much wiser but at least now they knew they had to be careful and ready to use force to stop him.

Running through the Okinaga District looking for the thief the two split up each one taking a different side of the streets as they made their way through. Rune saw that Minato had stopped and was talking to a few elder ladies, and he decided to check the alley across the street to see what was going on when he made it to the end of the alley it took a sharp left. There he saw someone climbing out of a window. “I found him” he would yell back to Minato as he took off at full speed. He was slowly gaining on the thief when they hit the street again and he jumped over the crowd and landed in another alley. Rune tried to do the same but landed in the middle of the street nocking a few people over as he came down. He would apologize as he kept going explaining that he was in hot pursuit. He didn’t lose to much ground as he could still see the thief when he made it to the other end as he turned the corner.  Here Rune would make a couple hand signs and create a clone of water out of the water in the alley as he ran after the guy. His water clone would use the tree climbing jutsu to run up the wall as Rune keep following. Rune would turn to make sure that Minato was still behind him if not he would have his clone give him a signal as to where they were at.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:40 am
As he was making his way around asking people for information regarding the recent criminal activities, Minato could suddenly hear Rune yelling that he had found him. He knew that his partner wouldn't just stand still and would surely begin the pursuit of the thief.
Minato remembered the information he received from the elder just a moment ago. It was concerning the fact that the thief didn't hesitate to use violence during his crimes. And now that he was being chased by someone looking to arrest him, it wouldn't be any different. Since he was the more experienced of the two, he figured he couldn't let Rune handle this on his own, so he began his pursuit himself. After all, he did mention he was going to take the responsibility this mission.

Luckily he was able to see where Rune was headed to before he started running after the thief. It was in a dark alley across the street. He figured it wouldn't really make any difference if he went through the alley as well, so he decided to follow the direction of where the alley would lead to, hoping Rune was still in pursuit. Running as fast as he could, Minato would suddenly notice someone who looked exactly like Rune climbing up the wall. He knew that Rune had recently learned the Water Clone Technique, so he figured he made a clone to help in his pursuit.

As he whistled between his fingers to notify the clone of his presence, the Water Clone was giving him signals of where Rune and the thief were headed. He had been in the district before, so he would have no problem finding the location they were running to. Instead of following the same route they did, he decided to aim for the place where the alley would lead to. If everything went as it should, Minato would be waiting for the thief to arrive. With Rune chasing him behind and Minato waiting for him at the front, the thief would be completely closed in with nowhere to run. Minato could only hope they would be able to avoid as much violence as possible, since they would have the thief completely cornered, hoping he wouldn't start acting like a threatened animal.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Tue Feb 19, 2019 3:49 pm
Rune was in hot pursuit when the thief started to pull objects out of his pockets. To be safe Rune followed suit and pulled a kunai out of his back weapon pouch. Keeping it ready to block or deflect anything that could happen since he couldn’t tell what the guy was going to do with whatever he pulled out of his pocket. “Stop” Rune would scream at the guy over and over as he tried to keep up with him, but it felt like the guy was slowly gaining on him and getting away. He kept looking back looking for Minato but he never saw him figuring that he was on his own with this one. When the thief turned and threw two shurikens at Rune who was able to deflect one of them with his Kunai while dodging the other. By ducking behind a trash can before rolling back out from behind it to throw his own kunai he would aim for the leg to try and stop the thief.

Meanwhile on the roof Runes water clone had lost Rune and the Theif for the moment as he was seeing what Minato was doing. Once he figured out that Minato was going to try and cut the thief off the water clone went at top speed around the roofs of the alley to try and find them. The water clone found his target at the corner of the alley where it split one way going to Minato and the other back out into the street. The water clone saw the man pull the shurikens and throw them at Rune and saw Rune duck behind the trash can. The Water clone not really having too much in the way of close quarter combat training jumped off the roof of the building aiming to land on the thief as he took back off running towards Minato.

The water clone collided with the thief as Rune through the Kunai at the thief's leg. With the thief falling as Rune threw the Kunai it hit the guy, not in the leg but square in the chest slightly to the left. “O SHIT” Rune screamed out as he took off to check on the guy. Fear taking over from the fact that he may have just killed someone followed by denial that he couldn’t die from the wound. The water clone exploding back into the water as the bodies hit the floor. The run to be the longest point in Runes life, with not knowing what had happened or how it happened he didn’t want to kill someone. He didn’t want to be a killer, sure he knew that becoming a ninja this was part of the job and that it was something that he would have to face at some point, but nothing prepared him for this, and all he could think in his head was please be ok please be ok over and over. Finally making it to the body after what felt like an eternity of running Rune slide across the road stopping at the thief's head and lifting it up in his hands. Sliding the man's hair out of his face so he could see it the eyes had rolled back into his head and he was gone. Rune sat they're looking into the eyes of the man he had just killed while the blood left the body of the corps flowing into the nearby drain and covering Rune from the waist down and elbow down.

Rune would still be looking into the eyes of the thief's corpse with its head in his lap when Minato would arrive at the scene.

To Catch a Thief Empty Re: To Catch a Thief

Minato was finally making his way to the other end of the alley. Now all he had to do was wait for the thief to come running towards him so he could intercept him. He figured it wouldn't take much longer since he had been running for quite a while now. Reaching into his weapon pouch to grab one of his kunai so he would be ready for a worst case scenario where he had to fight the thief, Minato was waiting. And waiting. And even more waiting. Something isn't right, something must have happened. Those were the thoughts going on inside Minato's head. Even if they were crawling the whole time they should already have made it to the location he was. Afraid of what might have happened to Rune he decided to start running in the direction the two of them should be.

On his way over he suddenly heard a scream, trying not to think about the worst that could have happened he ran as fast as he could. When he got to the scene, he arrived at the view of a lifeless body laying on the lap of Rune, while holding the head of what surely would be that of the thief. Something must have happened that made Rune throw a kunai at the thief. Maybe it was self defense or his lack of experience caused his aim to be off. Either way he had to get over there to take Rune out of the alley as it seemed he was going in shock.

"Don't worry Rune, everything will be fine."
Minato was doing his best trying to comfort him as he didn't know what Rune was going through at the moment. Leading him out of the alley he would then find someone to take care of the rest.
