Guarding the parade (d-rank mission) Empty Guarding the parade (d-rank mission)

mission specs::

Ryusei wandered along the roads, his nose buried in a book. He was part of an increasingly studious generation who liked to read. This was probably a good thing except that their reading was always towards… violent ends. In his case, Ryusei was not reading up on something violent, that was for the taijutsu users. No, Ryusei was reading up on something that would help him if he got violent, specifically, the Earth Spear jutsu. Instead of reading up on something that directly helped him be violent, he was reading up on a jutsu that apparently hardened the skin, allowing the user to hit harder and be immune to some attacks. Awesome! Maybe it would help him next time he sparred with Kenshin Uchiha. This was a cool looking jutsu, that had potential applications for disguise, but not today. Today he wanted to get stronger first.
It was weird really. He had read up on it before, and practiced some of the initial stages, but he did not feel that he could do the full jutsu properly yet. After a while, he wandered by the mission office. Wanting a slight change of pace, he wandered inside to see if he could be of any help, while he trained his jutsus.
Apparently, yes, he could be of some help. In fact, he had a rather important job. A feudal lord of the fire nation was coming to visit the leaf village. A massive parade would be held as the feudal lord wanted to get a candid glimpse of the day-to-day life of the villagers in Konoha – every day stopping to watch the same feudal lord come to visit with the same speech, every day at the same time. He laughed out loud at the idea, until money was mentioned. That got him motivated.
He was not the only ninja assigned to guard the feudal lord. In fact, there was quite the crowd. Ryusei soon was posted along one of the bends of the route, where a sneak attack was more likely. He was bored. He waited among the gathered crowds, scanning constantly for a potential assailant. Nothing happened… the parade began. However, when the feudal lord was doing his daily ride-by greeting to everyone, a stranger stepped out into the middle of the road, halting the procession. He pulled off his jacket, revealing a large number of explosive tags all over his body. He charged straight for the daimyo, but before he could get close enough to the procession to do any real damage, he suddenly began to be sunk into a swamp. Trapped, the man cursed, but he was stuck. Suddenly the jutsu was dispelled and Ryusei landed a flying kick onto the other man before he could regain his footing. After handing off the stranger to the anbu who showed up when the commotion from the crowd was heard, he resumed his post. The rest of the parade went without incident.
