Mission Topic: Lumber

Senba was assigned an E rank mission today. He was quite agitated
with this because he found E ranks to be for starters, but he pretty much did
all the D rank missions. He also needed an E rank mission to qualify for the
chunin exams anyway. He sighed as he walked out of the building that assigned
missions. He scratched the back of his head as he headed to the village forest.
He saw as some bigger guys were already chopping down trees. He walked to them
and asked “Can I borrow an axe please?” The man
wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled. He asked “Well
well a younger fellow willing to help out with manual labor. This is quite a
surprise, and I am glad to see some kids still have politeness too.” The
big man handed Senba an almost brand new axe. Senba smiled and thanked the man
for his compliment. He stretched and heard his bones pop which felt amazing
since he had not gotten to get out of his apartment in a while. It was way too
hot to be outside, and Senba did not like the heat at all. He did decide to get
out and take this mission. He started chopping on a medium sized tree. He chopped
on the side facing away from the village. He chopped in a downward angle first chopping
out a good bit. Then chopped at a upward angle meeting the downward stroke. He
went to the opposite side and pushed. The tree did not move and he cut more
into it and pushed again. The tree fell as one of the men yelled “TIMBER!!!” and laughed at bit and nodded to
Senba. He did this to a few more trees making sure to not deforestation the
place. He went up to a bigger tree and decided that this would be a very big
project. He dug his axe into the tree at a downward angle but to no avail. This
was one tough tree, and the wood did not get cut easily. He tried as hard as he
could and the axe blade slowly dug into it. Senba’s clothes were soaked with
sweat that was from the heat and working hard most of the day. He made his way
to the center of the tree with the axe and pulled it out. He sat on the ground
for a second to take a breather. One of the guys that were cutting the trees
came up to him and handed him a bottle of water. He said “Here you go boy.” Senba took the water, smiled,
and thanked the man. The man smiled and thanked him for helping and walked
away. Senba drank the water and started getting back to work. He felt better
and started chopping at the tree with force in an upward angle now. He drove
the axe into the tree and it gave easier than before. He made it to the center
of the tree. He went on the other side and yelled out “TIMBER!!’
as the tree fell down to the ground with a bang. The men laughed as they
patted Senba on the back as a good work gesture. He thanked them and they
thanked him and Senba went home to clean up and sleep.
