Flower Picking

It was a quiet morning in the village, as Asami left her home and traveled into town toward the Yamanaka flower shop. 'Quiet is the only word for it,' the young lady mused, noticing that it had been a while since she'd gotten any noteworthy missions. Today's task was flower picking of all things. Flower picking. For the life of her, she didn't know why a Genin had been assigned this job. Any five year old child at the academy could have done just as well. But if there was peace in the village, she supposed that she shouldn't complain about it. It wouldn't stop her from training, on her own time.

Asami walked into the flower shop, where she was greeted by a cheerful looking blonde woman behind the counter. "Welcome! Is there anything that I can help you find today?" Asami smiled politely, nodding. "Yes, I am the Genin you requested to help you pick flowers. I am here to pick up the list of the types and quantity that you need." The woman lit up, then, happily rummaging behind the counter for a slip of paper and handing it over to the girl. "Here you are, and you're just in time! The order is due to be picked up this afternoon, so you'll need to be quick. Just get the things on that list, there are fields to the east where you can find them growing." Asami smiled and nodded, taking the slip of paper and glancing it over. "I'll bring them back as quickly as I can."

Turning to leave, Asami picks up a basket on her way out, resting it on the crook of her arm as she walks out towards the eastern fields.The sun had just risen recently, and so as she climbed the hill overlooking the meadow, she caught sight of the morning light still playing across the petals of the sea of wildflowers. It was enough to give her pause, as she took some time to appreciate getting to enjoy this view all by herself. 'It should be a painting,' she thought, before descending down the hill and into the field below.

She had learned enough about flowers and flower arranging during her time at the academy, as well as in her own home, to be able to recognize everything on the Yamanaka's list. Roses, daffodils, chrysanthemums, irises, forget-me-nots. She collected them all one by one, carefully choosing the most pristine blooms to cut and place in the basket. It only took her about an hour before the basket was full, and she ticked the last flower off the list. Bidding the field farewell, Asami returned to the shop, basket in hand, carefully setting it atop the counter to the Yamanaka woman's delight. "Oh, these are beautiful! Now to prepare the bouquets. Thank you so much for your help, you've been a life saver." Asami smiled politely, accepting her payment and thanking the woman with an elegant bow of her head, before leaving the shop and heading for the training grounds. Now that her errand was finished, she could get down to more important business.
