Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

Wed Dec 11, 2019 6:58 pm
Mission Details.:

Finally a mission Rajiasu was hyped about. In his own way. Yes, that dull expression was a normal little smile for him, stop laughing. He waited outside the Leader's office for the rest of his team to arrive. "His" in a non-possessive of course, he wasn't the type to be a leader of any kind. This mission was going to be a nice way to ease into things, strangely enough as his first mission.

When the other two arrived - a Kizmaru Senju and a Kazushi Terumi - Rajiasu would nod in greeting, attempting to commit their appearances to a slightly faulty memory. He would split off when they were ready to go. With this number of people, it would be more efficient to cover small tasks if they were split up and only met sometimes.

On his own, he would grab 1/3 of the requests for aid from civilians. It might have seemed odd for the callous Great Leader to take notice of such paltry reports from weaklings, but everyone knew you couldn't support a military operation without a thriving economy. Unless you wanted to be a paper tiger, that is. He shuffled through the list.

Hmmmm....

The tricky part about swarms of requests was not individual completion. It was getting them done ASAP in an efficient manner. In fact, he had to repeatedly solve this variant of the "Travelling Salesman" problem to stay afloat as a freelancer.

He set the requests down on a table and analyzed them carefully. Supplies were purchases but not sent to the varying sites. Then there were fallen trees, collapsed roofs, broken piping too dangerous for normal plumbers, people still in rubble, and a cat in a tree.

The requests were swiftly piled up and slotted into a pouch on his leg. He knew how to get cracking.

Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Re: Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

Fri Dec 13, 2019 4:30 am
It was one of those days today, gale force winds and heavy rains plagued the island of Kirigakure. Kizmaru was awoken with an abrupt crash of thunder and lightning coming from his window. It seems they were in the middle of a tropical storm and if they were, all able body ninja automatically participated in a B-rank mission to aid the village in damage control. Nothing worse than fighting against an enemy you can't hurt in Kizmaru's eyes. All he could do was go out and mitigate the damage as best he could. Kizmaru didn't have time to freshen up like he mostly did so he through on his battle attire and just left his apartment. Immediately stepping outside, Kizmaru could feel the force of the winds shift his balance. Straightening up, decided he'd go to the office to see what needed to be done for his part in aiding the villagers. Since he was only Genin, he didn't imagine himself taking on a big role. He might get some generic request such as directing villagers to shelters and finding lost pets. He wasn't really in the mood to do menial tasks like this but he figured that's the kind of life he signed up for. Heading towards the office, he spotted another shinobi in question.

He didn't have any defining features, just a short, black, unkempt hairy. A plain attire and boots nothing really stood out, he looks kind of irritated but who wouldn't be in situation like this? Well, he assumed he was going to be paired with this person for the situation at hand today. Normally, this would be a team effort and he suspected that a third person would show up to greet them. Regardless, he figured he would wait to see if he could learn any details of what they were to be doing today. As soon as their third member had arrived, they would get right down to business. Kizmaru decided he would take on the easier part of the task since he didn't really feel like being out in the storm for long periods at a time. Its not as if he dislikes the rain, he just dislikes the feeling of being wet with clothing on in general. He's hardly met a person that did in all fairness. He would be in charge of escorting the villagers to the shelters that were prepared for natural disasters such as this. It would hardly protect them if the storm was made by an enemy shinobi on the other hand but for natural disasters such as this one, it should more than suffice. After they had all divided the tasks among themselves, Kizmaru decided to head out and see if he could spot any civilian who needed assistance in a near by area.

Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Re: Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

Sat Dec 14, 2019 3:17 pm
When he opened his eyes in the morning, Kazushi was uncertain what he had been dreaming about just now, for his consciousness was awash in confusion and torpid from waking up before his time. As his eyes adjusted to the light and struggled to bring the world into focus, his ears worked hard to decipher the vibrations into sound that his brain could understand, and as Kazushi looked at the window, he heard a rapping sound, as if someone was knocking on it. Even dirty as they were, he could see outside, and noticed no one was there. Instead, he focused on the background noise that could be heard even over the intermittent rapping sounds: a tropical storm was hailing rain on the island. The realization brought sudden animation to the dormant body of the genin, who jumped off the bed and immediately shuffled the room to grab his clothes. In place of a mask, he wore a shirt with extended material that would cover his face. He was far too pretty to be out there without covering his face, after all. After getting into his regular clothing, setting the headband hanging on his neck, and pushing his hair back with a different headband, the boy was ready to get out of the house in a record time of a minute.

As he stepped outside, a streak of white lightning branched across the clouds and disappeared instantly, and the slow buildup of sound grew faster and faster into a loud cracking of energy, and it energized the genin. He loved thunderstorms, and he loved lightning. It fascinated him. As he made his way to the Kage’s office, he buttoned up his father’s jacked around his chest, to prevent it from flapping too much given the force of the wind. As he made it there, two ninja met him: Kizmaru, his older brother from another mother, and a new lad, a tall one too, towering over Kazushi and even Kizmaru from Kazushi’s angle. Short black hair like the Terumi’s, but small eyes sunken into his skull, and a mean look to him for some reason; but the lad nodded at Kazushi, so he nodded back.. According to the requests, help was needed by the docks and beach to secure the fishing boats and equipment. Taking said requests, Kazushi took off to what was likely the most dangerous area: the beach.

Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Re: Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

Fri Dec 20, 2019 1:04 am
There was a lot of flotsam and jetsam washed up on the streets. Some buildings had been outright smashed, and others were still standing, with broken windows and whatnot. Rajiasu got his hands on some large carts and some cleaning tools. On route to one of the building sites, he collected a bunch of the trash and debris on the ground. His cart was full in no-time. He stopped by a dump to empty it out, then headed past it.

The building site was a conference center under repair to shelter refugees. A mix of old junk - which Rajiasu loaded up onto his cart - and new materials to be added to block up holes. With his ninja training, the latter was not hard. Even out of shape, he was able to hang from different spaces and smack nails into their places. The cart would normally have been emptied straight away, but he was going for efficiency and nobody would care with the disaster befallen them. In the blink of two hours, the boards were all hammered into place, covering up the windows and freshly cut holes temporarily. It was going to get stuffy without air flow, but that was a different job. Maybe one of the other chaps would be dealing with that bit.

Back outside. He carted the new cart of debris to the dump, then was on his way again. Stopping by the depot, he showed one of his assignments to the clerk. A large pile of bricks greeted him. Man, he was going to work hard today.

A lot of grunting and sweating later, the cart was loaded up. He was taking two trips, because there was no need to add more repairs to his task list. The cart had groaned as he loaded it up, and he hastily removed the last few bricks added. Now it wobbled and creaked, but it seemed ok. Slowly, he pushed it out the door towards the destination - an empty lot. Carefully, the bricks were dropped off on the ground. No sense in ruining the job here.

On the way back to get the second load, he took another pile of debris to the dump. It was anyone's guess if this was salvageable. It looked unlikely, with the water soaking everything in a salty brine. What a waste. You can't turn all of this garbage into art. Not with a sword wielding maniac in charge, anyway.

The second load of bricks went well. It turned out to be a bit smaller than the first load, so the cart was holding up ok. The delivery went without issue, but Rajiasu still stopped just to tighten everything up. The cart was having a rough day, maintenance would be important for him and anyone else down the line.

After the load of bricks, it was time to plant some fauna and maybe catch some flora. Wait. He had that backwards. The lack of sleep was going to kill him one of these days. There was a bunch of fish that had washed up during the storm that he began getting rid of - putting in a compost bin if dead, and back in the water if alive. That was easy, except for the smell. He didn't think he could eat sushi for a long time, no matter how traditional it might be.

With the fish cleared from one of the beaches, he took one more load of debris to the dump. At this point, he was drenched in sweat. Even with all the efficiency, this stuff took time and effort, and did I mention he was out of shape?

While attempting to return the cart, he nearly passed out from dehydration. He parked his large body near a water fountain and regularly gulped everything down for a few minutes. There wasn't really a time limit on this kind of mission. When his head finally cleared, he finished returning the cart.

Heading back to the main office, he paused a couple of times to help people moving furniture. Not all the furniture, just the obvious stuff. Nobody was going to ask him for extras given his current state.

When he was back at the Leader's office, he would submit his missions for approval and wait for the others if they weren't finished.

Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Re: Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:39 pm
Making his way back out, Kizmaru had forgotten already what the weather was like. I was unpleasant with how hard the rain pour, as well as the gale force winds that is consistently blowing down structures or debris. Well, this wouldn't be easy but it had to be done by somebody and that somebody seems to have been him. Patrolling the village roads and streets, he kept his eyes peeled for any significant points of interest or people in peril. Nothing too dangerous as far as he could see. Other than massive flooding and rushing waters carrying away certain objects like stalls or carts, nobody was in any immediate danger. The water on the island was getting a bit high now, so Kizmaru took to travelling along the rooftop tops of nearby buildings instead of staying on ground level. He thought about trying to walk on the waters but they weren't calm enough for him to maintain footing and may get swept up by it. It wasn't deep by any means but he estimated that it would at least come up to his knees and if he ever fell, he could be seriously injured if he was carried along the currents with who knows what else was in the water.

Finally, he had spotted a family of four, a mother and three children, clinging onto what looks like part of structure that used to be their home. Waiting for the water to pass them by. Well, there seems like a job that Kizmaru could handle. Landing onto the water in front of them, Kizmaru struggled to hold his footing on it, making sure not to show in front of the family that needed aid. "You need help, ma'am," Kizmaru said coolly. The woman gave him an irritated look as if he was blind and couldn't see the situation. He took that as a 'yes' and proceeded to place both his hands together forming the appropriate hand signs of Monkey, Rat, Tiger, Dragon, Horse and Dragon. Shortly after making the hand signs, the rushing water that was flowing into their direction suddenly shot up into a spinning column of water which takes the form of a snake with a gaping jaw. Kizmaru didn't do anything with the projectile, all he did was use it as a stopgap so the violent waters would no longer hinder the family of four until they had time to safely continue on with their trip. Kizmaru instructed them to take shelter at the nearest shelter or the Kage's Office until the storm passed by.

After they had gotten a good distance away, Kizmaru turned his gaze at the water snake he had created, it grew too large for it's own good and releasing it would probably cause a greater flooding to the area and cause serious damage. Sighing, Kizmaru looked around to see if anybody else was nearby. He didn't want to accidentally injure somebody or cause an unnecessary casualty. After it seems like nobody else was around, Kizmaru released his jutsu causing the water to violently hit the ground with a fierce rush of water began to invade the area in twenty square meters. Whatever resistance most structures had up to this point was surely demolished or degraded even further. Well, it didn't matter now. Kizmaru continued to search the area for people in need until the storm began to die down. After he did all he could, Kizmaru returned to the office to collect his payment. His clothes were soaked and he even started to sneeze from time to time. Well, at least he got decent payment out of this . He quickly rushed back to his apartment so he could change out of his clothes, have a hot shower and then nap.

Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru) Empty Re: Don't Forget an Umbrella (Kazushi&Kizmaru)

When in a storm, the waterfront was always the first thing to get hit. With a soaked wet jacket hanging tightly on him, he received his orders, and looking outside, he figured taking the jacket wouldn’t be the best bet. He confirmed his orders, and took off his father’s blue jacket, hanging it on the reception. He would get back for it. However, outside, the gusts of wind would make the jacket bothersome to wear. With that in mind he stepped out of the comfort of the indoors, where the sound of wind against window pane and wall made the wind sound fearsome.

Even when he opened the door, the strength of the wind could be felt, and with effort he closed the door behind him. He did his best to look like he acted effortlessly, taking strident and confident steps on his way towards the beach, his fists clenched as the cold rain punished him for his audacy in walking among the storm, the winds pulling at his every movement and demanding he ceased resisting its pull and just fly. But the young Terumi was stubborn.

He moved onto the beach in order to assist the fishermen. They had scrambled and tried to save as much of their gear as possible; the young Terumi did his part. He would take heavy boxes away from them except the one with the Ryo, and used his superior running and jumping to take them to safety much faster than the fishermen would be able to do. In between his runs, he would pick up people trying to get back on their feet, discard broken umbrellas that they thought they could save and command them to make it away into safety, help people board up the windows of their houses. He was in constant movement, the strength of the winds tiring the youth at an alarming rate, but the adrenaline and the fear keeping him moving forwards. In spite of it all, he felt himself responsible for these people. Somehow, the power invested into him by the Ninja Academy of the Kirigakure had created in him a creature much more powerful than those around him, and in that regard, he would do his best to protect these people. These people with whom he felt no connection. These people who he had never met, in the soil of this land his ancestors had not live in.

A cursory glance at the beach revealed it to be clean of people; the dire conditions of rain and wind meant that he couldn’t be too sure though. He powerful hopped around, making sure to put his weight into each leap and bound so as to not be blown astray by the wind. Now certain there was no one around, he started making his way back through the streets, doing rounds to make sure no building was in unnecessary danger, or people running around. The winds picked up further, and the rain started to pound aggressively against the youth’s face. It was time to retreat.

He visited the Mission’s Office one last time, reporting in on the events. The reward was a pretty penny too, a fat purse of money for assisting the village. The Terumi wouldn’t complain, his house might need repairs after this storm. He walked up to his father’s jacket, still wet from the storm outside. Seeing it hanging like that almost made him wonder how it’d be like to walk into his house and seeing it like this, his parents waiting for him inside. A welcoming house. A welcoming family. Instead, he picked up his jacket and made out into the storm, as cold and unwelcoming as his house would likely be.
