A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:09 am
Hikari's Outfit:

The sun was shining brightly in the sky as a petite woman sat on the edge of the tide, her bare feet soaking in the cool water as she opted out of her dress for a crop top and jean shorts to keep her typical ninja attire from getting drenched. Today was a more relaxed one for the duo, the Hyuuga wanting to treat her canine companion, Kuro, to a fun day by the water rather than stuck in the training area as usual. Thus explained why she didn’t have any of her ninja weapons on her nor her Amol Selseila’s around her wrists. Of course she still had her white wolf tattoo on her back but that was obscured from view by the back of the white and purple tops she wore.

While Hikari sat by the water, her wolven familiar ran up and down the shore, his paws making large splashes everytime he stepped down and his tongue lolling out of his open muzzle. Being from Konoha meant he hadn’t gotten to experience playing in the water, only getting to have fun in the ocean once he moved to Kiri with the Hyuuga not too long ago. Now he could run to his heart's content and cool himself off by jumping head first into the saltwater whenever he felt like, and boy oh boy was he going to savour every minute of their day doing so.

She enjoyed just watching him have fun while she laid on the sand, veins around her eyes bulging as her Byakugan was activated in order to keep track of her friend without whipping hear head from side to side constantly and straining it in the process. The last thing she needed was to hurt herself, especially on a day of rest, even if she could easily heal the injury right away, it was still a pain in the ass to do so. After all she wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet of their isolated beach, not waste time using her medical ninjutsu. Thus she had her head facing forwards but still being able to see thanks to her lilac tinted eyes and the doujutsu they held within. She was fortunate to have been gifted with such an amazing kkg, it had saved her numerous times and continued to be quite useful even in day to day activities.

“Having fun?” Came her gentle voice as her companion stood beside her, eyes lit up and a grin upon his muzzle while be nuzzled her softly. She ran her fingers through his fur to pet him, a small smile gracing her rosy lips. There were only a few moments of joy she could allow herself to have, and this moment was one of them where she felt it was a little justified to lose her numbness. Since her brother was murdered by Konoha she never would’ve imagined herself finding a reason to smile, but as time went on and she succumbed to the emotions eating away at her heart, it had become slightly easier, albeit still making her regret it later. Hikari hated when she felt happiness knowing that she didn’t deserve it, not when Salzem had yet to be revived by her own hands.  So she shook her head and bit her lip, bringing herself back to her reality and the cruel world she had to endure until she could change it to a world with Sal in it.

A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty Re: A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

Wed Nov 06, 2019 10:41 am
To them as lived on the run, the thought of a relaxing day was as bizarre as hunger was to the full bellied. In truth, he almost didn’t feel like going to the beach, but it was one of the few places he had not visited yet in Kirigakure, and seeing as his uncle was following the Leviathan’s example of not returning from the siege of Konohagakure, young Kazushi decided to go for a walk there. Not quite aware of what to expect, he just wore his regular gear, and once he brushed his teeth after eating some fruit, he brought up his bandage mask to cover up his face, and he braved out the door and into the village. The village folk gave him looks here and there, but he kept his blue eyes focused on the road ahead, from time to time dipping the eyes to the road to ensure his footing was assured. Within him flowed the blood of Kigirakure, and he would not be bothered by the looks of people who came together as leftovers of villages gone.

Upon arriving at the beach, he failed to see the appeal at first glance. It was where water meets the land, and not even surefoot land: sand. He stepped on the gradually looser land until his sandals imprinted into the sands, and then something caught his eye: a dark furred beast of a wolf near as tall as himself and much longer by the looks of it. The young Temuri froze in fear immediately as he saw the beast; large as it was it could easily use the youth as a meal and he wasn’t sure he would be able to defend himself against such a formidable looking creature. It did seem to be having fun, running into the water and causing huge waves from the displacement, a testament to its massive size, and coming back out for a quick run. As the beast went for another run, that’s when Kazushi noticed another person; lightly clothed, she seemed better prepared than the youth, which now he noticed he started to sweat, not only from the heat of the tropical sun, but also due to the sudden burst of adrenaline his fear brought out. Long flowing silver hair waved gently to the wind, in dark contrast with the youth’s own black hair.

Tentatively, he approached trying not to give any aggressiveness, lest the beast tried to make him into a meal. Instead, he removed his bright blue jacked off his shoulders, and undid the jacket underneath it as well, revealing a white shirt with a net mesh cover on top of it. He tried to make eye contact with the other person, his piercing blue eyes reaching out, but she seemed to look forth into the horizon; curious, he glanced into the ocean as well. Looking back at her, he noticed veins bulging around her eyes; a particular feature only a specific group of people were known for, and he suspected she was a ninja, same as him. He called out to her. “Wonderful day, is it not?”

A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty Re: A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

Wed Nov 06, 2019 6:57 pm
As the kunoichi was watching her friend enjoy himself while running around she noticed a new figure had arrived in the otherwise deserted area. The newcomer didn’t make it too far down the sandy slopes before they froze in place, eyes locked with the crimson ones of Kuro the wolf, and or the first time in a while he had found someone to intimidate by his appearance alone. Being four foot tall and six foot long was a terrifying thing for some, the beast being large and menacing with his fangs protruding slightly from his muzzle and long claws gracing each of his legs. It wasn’t every day someone encountered a wolf, and although some people mistook him for a regular dog due to how he acted around her, he was still a predator at heart and wouldn’t hesitate to kill if his instincts told him it was necessary.

The young boy eventually mustered up the courage to inch closer, eyes focused between the location of Kuro and looking at her, as if he was making the connection finally that the wolf was with her. Hikari figured that knowledge helped him not be as terrified of the creature, figuring that if was tame, to a degree anyway, and wouldn’t strike without being directly ordered to. At least he probably hoped Kuro wouldn’t, yet in all honesty he came off as hesitant and unsure when he approached, and she could tell he was trying his best to seem as passive and friendly as he could with a mask obscuring the lower half of his face. In truth, she didn’t understand the appeal of wearing masks, thinking they were more of a hassle than they were worth, but didn’t entirely care about the choices others made so long as they didn’t affect Kuro or her.

However that didn’t mean she couldn’t comment on them, especially when they made terrible choices, as the masked man had done so. It was obvious he wasn’t prepared for the beach, or lacked the ability to care about whether his clothes got wet from the ocean, since he was dressed in two jackets alongside the bandaging around his mouth and neck. Jackets were one thing, but the cloth he used to cover his face would surely be wasted. The rest of his clothes could dry and be wearable, but the bandages wouldn’t be, and they weren’t super cheap to buy either if he used those daily. Yet even the bandages weren’t what surprised her the most about his outfit, it was the fact he wore four layers in the cool weather. The temperature outside hardly warranted that much clothing, and from the looks of it he was beginning to regret his choice of outfit as he had already taken off the first jacket and undid the second.

The unnamed person stood beside her, eyes scanning her own as if trying to make eye contact, and, when failing to do so, followed her gaze out to the ocean. Hikari couldn’t help but find it a little amusing how it appeared as if she wasn’t paying attention when in reality she could see everything so vividly anytime she wanted. Thus when he turned back to her, looking at her eyes and the veins bulging around them, she turned towards him, and he spoke right as she had done so, commenting on the day. It was a relatively simple conversation starter, and if he wanted to ask about her eyes as she assumed he most likely did, talking with her and getting her to lower her guard was the best way to do so, at least that’s what most people expected anyways.

“Indeed it is. Perfect for both the beach and training.” Her voice was neither cold nor warm as she spoke, holding a monotonous tone to it as she tried to make eye contact with him while her Byakugan was still activated. She figured it would be best to stay on high alert since he was so close and could strike at any moment if he really wanted to, even if she didn’t think he would be based on how he reacted to Kuro. The wolf in question was running around in front of them still, although he hard shortened the distance between them as soon as the dark haired male had gotten close to the kunoichi, wanting to make sure he could act quickly if the boy tried anything. "Based on your attire I'm guessing you weren't planning on sitting by the sea today?" She inquired, more so out of boredom than caring to know the answer given how obvious it was. But it gave him something to reply to and might enlighten her on what he had planned to train, in case it would be beneficial to her.

A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty Re: A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

As the youth spoke, the lass turned her head towards him; she was quite beautiful, even with the veins bulging around her eyes intimidatingly. Her eyes were lilac, and based on that and the veins, he assumed it was the fabled Byakugan, one of the two feared dojutsu which had ancestry to the Hidden Leaf. This one was safe to look into, unlike its relative, the Sharingan. Temuri felt lucky in that, so he could gaze into the eyes, but he cut himself short before it started looking weird. The youth was not used to interacting with the opposing gender, and he didn't want to disturb her with ogling. Instead, he took to gazing back to the horizon, and then back at the great wolf that made its way back by the side of its master. Its crimson eyes worried the youth for a second. "It can't use a Sharingan, can it?"

Beads of sweat slowly dotted the youth's face, starting as tiny light reflecting specs, slowly building up. Truthfully, he was starting to find the beach a big ol' joke, how was one supposed to enjoy this? He looked again at the lass, her minimalist clothing and feet on the water, her second comment now streaming out. Kazushi looked at his clothing, and all things considered, it appeared beach might not be a place you come to fully clothed as if going out in mission; he shrugged at it. "I heard a lot about the beach, but I had never come to one to relax. I lived in-continent my whole life and on the run, so I never had many opportunities to relax on the sands."

He gazed back into the horizon once more, contemplating, the salty air of the ocean clearing his airways and making breathing easy. "I think I might just train, after all." Conditions were ripe: the warmth would let him use his gear as a sauna suit, effectively allowing him to adjust to future reality of fighting in any conditions with battle gear. He looked back at the lass, his blue pools meeting her lilac focused eyes. Her comments lead the young Temuri to think she might also be considering to train, given her repeated implication. Moreover, she clearly was a ninja; he doubted anyone would have a byakugan and choose a different career, or at least be able to activate it without being a career ninja. "What about you? Enjoying a sea-side relaxation day with your… pet?" He hesitated calling the beast a pet, it looked more like a war-beast, something you'd mount to meet enemies in the fray and cut through the ranks of enemies. There was a beauty to it, though, something primal that evoked awe and adoration.

A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty Re: A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

Fri Nov 08, 2019 4:18 pm
While they made eye contact she noticed beads of sweat began to form across his face, the heat of the clear sky finally getting to him. The snowy haired woman felt a little bad for him but didn’t have any real way to help other than to suggest the obvious: take off another layer or two, or jump in the water to let it cool him off quickly.

She listened to his short story, wondering why all of these shinobi felt she was someone they could confide in about their lack of ‘loyalty’ to Kiri. First it was the more hot-tempered male revealing right off the bat that he wasn’t from Kiri, and now this male informed her he wasn’t from there either, even including that he had been on the run. Did they truly not care about being hunted down for such things? In Kirigakure of all places? They should know it isn’t a very forgiving place…

“Has it been what you expected it to be like, the beach I mean?” Her voice was monotone as she asked, her gaze following his back to the horizon. In truth Hikari was a little curious of where he came from and how he ended up amongst the islands, but didn’t think asking him about his past would be the best idea since they were hardly even acquaintances. Hell, they didn’t even know the other’s name yet, so asking a personal question was most definitely out of the question.

Soon after her inquiry it seemed he wanted to train rather than put his feet in the water as she was doing, and the petite kunoichi couldn’t blame him. It wasn’t a pastime for everyone, even she was surprised at having enjoyed it more than expected. “What kind of training might you do?” Hikari wondered if what he was going to train could be useful to herself, learning something new was one of her more interesting pastimes. After all the only way for her to grow stronger and gain more power was through gaining more knowledge, whether that be in the form of new jutsu, skills, or something else, like new armour or weapons.

“Friend.” She corrected him, not in a harsh or rude tone, and ran a hand through the large wolf’s fur as if to further solidify her statement. “And yes, since it was such a nice day out I thought he deserved a break from training.” Kuro nuzzled her hand softly as she finished speaking, a way of showing his gratitude for taking him to the beach and letting him run free and as far as his heart desired. Hikari herself didn’t require a break from training, although she didn’t feel the need to inform him of that, and was just content that her companion was having a good time. He was all she had left in this world so she tried to make sure and cherish their time together as much as she could, when not trying to exact her revenge, of course.

A Day by the Sea (Kazushi) Empty Re: A Day by the Sea (Kazushi)

“No”, he replied immediately to the question as it arose from the lass, feet dipped in the water, an almost childlike mannerism to her that blended with her warrior confidence to create an ethereal visage of innocence that hid the powerful kunoichi underneath it. The vibe alone made Kazushi feel tense, although he had to give away a look of relaxed violence; he stood straight, and flexed his legs enough to maintain a straight back and posture, while remaining relaxed enough that he could lower himself to his baser instincts of murder should the need arise. He continued. “People told me that the beach was perfect for relaxing, and yet I can’t find the charm to it. But the sea-side air is clearing my nose, I don’t think I’ve ever felt my airways so clean.”

The question about what kind of training he wished to do irked him though; not because of her curiosity, after all, if anything, he might be able to learn something from another more experienced fighter. It bothered him because he wasn’t sure of what he wanted to do. Looking back into the cleared sky horizon, he pondered on his parents and uncle. His father was a Hoshigaki, dominating the Water Element and capable of remarkable physical features whenever he became enraged. His mother was quite capable with water as well, having had plenty of help from his father with that elemental release, but her strength relied on the power of her Lava Release. His uncle specialized in Boil Release, which had been what he used to melt the bodies of his parents to prevent the bandits from harvesting them; when he did release steam onto the battlefield, nothing but rot was left behind. He admired his uncle for that, but also because he was cold enough in his heart to not let his companions become hindrances when the time came to fight. Kazushi still remembered how his parents lost their lives because they let their worries get in the way of their combat, but he couldn’t help remember his mother’s way of healing his wounds, or her husband and brother’s injuries from small skirmishes and fights. “I’ll practice some ninjutsu. I can have a trick up my sleeve to dominate Kirigakure’s enemies, if only I learn how to bring it out.” For some reason now, he didn’t feel like oversharing. His past with the organ harvesters made him weary of revealing his trump card. “I need to learn how to release Fire. Maybe learn some medical jutsu, that’s always useful.” He felt glad he was wearing his bandages; he could feel himself blush, ever the mama's boy. He pressed his teeth to his tongue to prevent the tears.

He looked at his hands, and brought them together in front of his chest . Though he could control his chakra, he had not learned how to release anything elemental whatsoever. He knew his natural chakra nature was Earth, something he took from his mother; when he was around ten his father taught him how to flow chakra into a piece of brown paper he had gotten somewhere, and the paper crumbled to dust between Kazushi’s fingers. His father had been disappointed; given the parentage, he thought Kazushi would had a water element guaranteed. It took his uncle to explain that Terumi weren’t guaranteed to have a specific element, as shown by their own parents before them. His mother had a natural water chakra, while his uncle had a natural fire element. For the Terumi, the natural chakra was a roulette, for the ultimate goal has always been to conquer the trinity of Earth, Fire and Water, to unlock the duality of power of the Lava and Boil releases only their bodies could handle.

He shook his head at the last comment of the lass. “I apologize, didn’t mean to offend.” To have an animal companion as a friend was something completely foreign to the lad. Sure, a great deal of love could always grow between a human and their animal companion, but were they not their pets at the end of the day? Were they not bound by pack logic, especially a lupine creature? He digressed. “He seemed to be enjoying the break; although I must confess, for a second I thought I was going to become his next meal, he looks very strong. You should feel proud if you helped raise him to such a beautiful creature.”

He glanced over the horizon once more before looking at the lass, into her beautiful eyes, ignoring the veins surrounding them, a sign that the lass was able to peer into his very being and see the flow of his chakra. “Say, wouldn’t you be able to teach me a thing or two? You look very capable, and if that’s your companion, it must mean you’re quite powerful.” He could feel himself blushing once more, and thanked his Father for being the role model that inspired him to wear the bandages around his face, for once again he blushed. He couldn’t decipher why, but he decided to be cold-hearted in his thinking and consider this as him taking advantage of a more powerful kunoichi’s skills to climb the power ladder at a faster pace and become as powerful as possible in the least amount of time. The alternative was to face the truth and realize that he now understood how pathetic and powerless he was, that a wolf in the beach of his own home village made him think he was about to die a brutal death, and that he was not the blood of old Kirigakure, a child of a powerful clan: he was a boy, wearing his father’s jacket and his uncle’s chunnin gear — which didn’t even work for he was not a chunnin and knew not how to operate the gear. He was a boy playing pretend in a world of skilled ninja and beasts, all capable of killing him in the blink of an eye.

With the sun still high, and the sand now finally travelling freely in between the bandages and now irritating the toes of the ninja in a way only sand could, Kazushi started to wonder if coming to the beach had been such a great idea after all. He did love the opportunity to meet Hikari Hyuuga, and her great beast of a friend, but perhaps he should leave them to enjoy their day.  He turned around and left the beach.
