Akane sobbed for a while, not sure what to make of such unexpected kindness. She’d so rarely run into it in her travels. Usually people wanted something from her. Her ryo. Her fighting skills. Her craftsmanship. Or something more. Sheer kindness, with nothing expected in return, was not something the kunoichi was used to. She tried to compose herself, and after a few minutes, successfully did so. Or at least, long enough to smile.

“Thank you. It’s been so long since I had a family. I’m a little rusty on what the meaning of it is. But I’ll try my best to make you all proud to have me.” She smiled, not sure where exactly to go beyond that. Then she began to make her way through the cookies and coffee. It really was quite delicious, and welcome after the long sea voyage. Far better than hardtack and salted fish and meat. Surprisingly, one could get sick of the taste of salt in everything! And the company was certainly much better than the leering, gropey sailors! She might actually be able to make something of herself here. Maybe her dream wasn’t as far beyond her grasp as she thought after all. Especially with a family at her back.

In her mind she said to her deceased parents “Mom, Dad. Maybe now...maybe I can make you proud of me for once. And maybe I can be proud of myself. Maybe I can finally let my guard down, and be a person. I hope so.”

Akane, you can only actually claim 10 stats from this thread, since 2000 divided by 200 is 10.

Additionally, the WC for Smoke Veil needs to be updated- if you want, you can wait until I fix it so you'll have an additional 250 words to put to something else.
