Crazy Cats!

An envelope slid across the desk into the hands a very eager Genin looking to get into some action. Fu exited the mission spot and opened the envelop to reveal of mission’s instructions. Boom. Another D-Rank mission that was most likely going to be very underwhelming. Strapped up with his shinobi outfit- a light blue top and black pants along with weapon pouches and a Konoha head band secured around her left arm. 

Fu’s mission was to help track down some cats for a lady who clearly really likes cats due to the mission requiring the capture of five. Fu would read that she would not be alone on this one either and that some familiar names would be joining her shortly to begin. Fu didn’t mind this mission because it involved something, she found joy in, tracking down animals. Fu was almost half way to the amount she needed to purchase the sword she desired and nothing was going to get in her way of successfully completing her final D-Rank mission.


Fu had to admire the progression. It only made sense they would start fresh Genin on such minor missions- but that was the life of a village shinobi- am I right? 

While waiting for the rest of the gang, she would wander over to a nearby set of trade carts and browse their merchandise. She came across a headband with cat ears on it and she thought how funny it would be to wear them as she completed her mission. After a few minutes of haggling with the merchant, she would walk away with the cat ears for free- grinning ear to ear.

Lately the raven haired Uchiha was on a roll. Having already completed over a handful of missions Minato was happy with the progress he was making. Sure, most of them weren't carrying any risk and were on the lower side of difficulty but nevertheless he was still putting in the hard work. And today wasn't any different. Between training and meeting with his peers he decided to have a look and see what kind of mission they had in store for him today. He caught wind that a certain lady had reached out to the shinobi of Konohagakure no Sato to help her find her cats, five of them to be precise. 

There was no way that the young Uchiha would say no to helping out with looking for those adorable little kittens so of course he had to accept. On his way to the meeting place in the village Minato would spot a girl who looked very familiar. As far as he knew he didn't remember her to be wearing cat ears, so maybe she was planning to go undercover to find these cats, who knew! He would continue to watch her from a distance when he eventually decided to speak up. "Hey Fu, nice ears you've got there!" If he was right and Fu got assigned to the mission as well they could team up once again, hoping to complete this one with complete success, just as the last one. "Are we waiting on someone else?"

He always thought the farm life involved nothing but picking crops and tending to livestock. As the days passed by, Okuyama was beginning to think that the shinobi life was nothing but doing missions. Somehow he believed that risking his life was better than being a peasant, though. Not that he had risked his life yet, but he might.

Every morning for the past few days he noticed a dull, aching sensation behind his eyes which he attributed to a lack of caffeine. Thus when he awoke he sought to the most important order for the day which just so happened to be the coffee pot. Upon taking care of his addiction he dressed in the standard uniform; black pants, black shirt, grey boots, with his headband secured loosely around his neck.

The next order of business was retrieving his orders for the day. A quick visit to the mission center revealed he'd be helping a group which consisted of his peers with catching some cats. Fortunately they weren't dogs, he though he might defect from the village and his duty if it had been dogs.

With his objective in mind Okuyama made his way to where his group was to meet. Fortunately he stuck out from the crowd due to his height, but he wasn't sure who he was looking for. Supposing headbands would do the trick, he began to sort through the people gathered around until he laid eyes upon some girl wearing cat ears and the village headband. The amount of people he had met in his life with animal features was growing. She wasn't without company of course, as a black haired male approached her.

Deciding it would be a good time to introduce himself, he made his way to them through the street. His greeting started with a wave, followed by "I presume you guys are here to catch cats?" If that was their purpose, he'd extend his right hand to shake one of their's and state his own name.

Another day. With the recent events that the male had been going through, missions have been becoming surprisingly easy. His last group went through a few within the village by the end of the day and amassed a nice amount of ryo and a few new bonds. They weren't quite sure if they would be on the same route for misisons, but today's mission request was a little interesting. He was to help a woman of the village find all of her cats, approximately five of them and return them to her unharmed. Easy enough since he was supposed to do with a few other ninja of the village. He didn't know their names or even who they were, but he took the mission and headed off to the meeting area so they could begin the mission. With a little pep in his step he began his descent into the village toward the meeting area, stopping only to pick up some water for his apparent thirst. After a few moments he would presumably be the final person to appear for the mission, just after Okuyama.

With a small wave he would stop just short of the group, smiling to them all but giving a thumbs up to Okuyama," Hey. I assume you all are here for the mission as well? Nice seeing you again by the way Okuyamam, how are things treating you," he'd ask his fellow genin with a little happiness in his voice. It was always nice to do mission with those that he knew, and meeting new friends would definitely benefit him as well. He'd stand by and wait to see if anyone else would be joining them or if they were going. Either way he was ready for them to begin and would probably walk behind the group as per usual.

Two others would approach Minato and her in regard to their mission. Now that everyone had arrived Fu would introduce herself one last time.

“Hey guys I’m Fu! Well now that everyone is here, we should get going. There are 5 cats so if we split up, we should be able to finish this mission and get paid!”

Fu was getting closer and closer to getting higher ranked missions and she was on a hot streak and closing in on her short-term financial goal so she could buy a real blade.

If no one else had anything else left to say, Fu would say one last thing before disappearing in a blur of speed using body flicker:

“Last one back to the mission center after returning a cat wins!”

Fu would travel to the home of the lady that she had been assigned to help. Fu figured that if she was going to find a lost pet, the best place to begin her search would be near where they live. Fu went through the woman’s house thoroughly to make sure that they weren’t simply hiding from her in plain sight and wasting the Genin’s time. Her investigation then lead her outside of the house where she would spot a black cat that would match the description of one of the cats she was assigned to find. She would lock eyes with the troublesome kitty and for a moment- neither creature moved- but once that moment ended Fu would run straight towards it. The cat would prove to be a tricky one, but nothing that Fu couldn’t handle. After a good 5 minutes of running around, the black cat would lead Fu to another one of the missing cats, but how was she supposed to catch both of them at the same time without losing track of the other?

Fu would chase the cats down an ally way, with no where to go, the cats would both attempt to run underneath her legs in order to get by her, but she would activate the jutsu she had been training- temporary paralysis- a technique she could cast without hand seals due to her extensive training. The two cats would become frozen in place and unable to escape. Fu would snatch them both up, making sure to hold them tight to her so they would be unable to escape once more. Fu had caught two of the 5 missing cats, so it was up to the others to handle the rest. Fu would travel back to the lady’s house and return the cats to her. She would grab them- hugging them against her chest so tightly the cats may not make it past this embracement. The woman thanked Fu and signed her mission paperwork for proof that she completed her mission.

Fu would slip the mission paperwork back in its original envelop and head to the mission center to claim her reward and to request another mission. This time she hoped for a C-Rank mission! She also wanted another chance to get to know the other two shinobi she met today a little more too. Fu was getting to work with all sorts of different shinobi lately- however she truly wanted another chance to work with Kaito the fish man.

Fu and Minato didn't need to wait too long before they were joined by two other people assigned to the same mission. "That's right, looking forward to working together with you" he answered as he accepted the reached out hand from the male going by the name of Okuyama while smiling back at Byakura. Now that the team was complete the four of them could officially begin their mission. Four of them, five of them cats, so the raven haired Uchiha figured it wouldn't take them too long to find them and return them to their owner. Seeing as Fu had already left on her own Minato figured he would do the same. "Well, good luck and see you guys in a bit."

The raven haired Uchiha decided to have a look at some of the smaller alleys since the cats might be looking for a dumpster that might be holding some leftovers. After all, with their strong sense of smell they might got attracted to the possible food scraps. After he had checked out most of the alleys Minato had finally arrived at the last one and to his relief he could spot what seemed to be looking a lot like one of the missing cats. Just as he thought, the little ginger kitten was out looking for food. On its quest for food the adorable feline hadn't noticed Minato approaching so it wasn't very difficult for the young Genin to grab the small animal and take it back to its owner.

Once he returned the cat to the old lady Minato would head back to the mission center where he would meet up with the others, figuring they were able to find the other four cats.

Since all of them were finally in the vicinity of where they were, Byakura simply went off in the direction west, looking in the general area for each of the cats or more specifically one of them. Since their were at least three others to find some of the cats, Byakura thought of a relatively easy thought in finding the cats without harming them. On his way out to find them he stopped by a few stores picking up some fish and milk along the way. The idea was to tempt the cats with the treats and then gently grabbing them and returning them to their master. As he looked around he asked questions about the cats. Someone had seen one or two rummaging about when they had walked past the area though the exact location wasn't quite known. With that information he began to search the area for the cats until he heard the a familiar sound. As the meows filled the air he sat the fish and pail down so that the cats could get the fish and milk, waiting until they were satisfied. It took a moment or two but after they had their fill, he simply picked up the cat and took it back to its owner. After that he smiled and left to return home.

Thankfully this was all about cats, and not man's best friend. Okuyama was a cat man at heart. They were small, fluffy, and independent enough to need minimal care. The lazy man's companion, for sure. Dogs were loud, obnoxious creatures with a fondness for drooling and typically needed more care.

Moving on, one of his peers that he didn't know the name of confirmed his purpose was indeed to catch cats. Following this, Byakura arrived to be the group's fourth man. It's a safe bet that Okuyama and Byakura were well acquainted. They've been on what, four missions now? He'd tell his acquainted comrade "Things have been fine actually, pretty easy going." Fu, as she boldly pronounced herself to be, interjected into any possible greetings by saying they should get a move on.

Proceeding to get going as per Fu's orders, Okuyama started off down a nearby alleyway. It seemed a natural enough place for a cat to go since it was relatively out of sight, and out of mind. Foot traffic through these areas was typically low, so the male tread rather carefully so as to not spook any animals that happen to be here. His gaze lingered towards a particular box which was scooting around of its own accord. Quietly, he slinked along the wall until he was atop the box. Moving as fast as he possibly could, Okuyama stepped next to the box and activated the Temporary Paralysis technique.

Upon removing the box from the top of whatever engine was pushing it forward, he took in the sight of a poor little kitten. Seeing as it couldn't move anyway, he simply leaned over and picked the animal up before cradling it in his arms. The entire time he walked back to the client's house, he'd keep one fingers rhythmically scratching the poor thing's ear. Upon turning in his objective, he gave the lady a quick nod and made his way. Crazy cat ladies were usually chatty, and he had no time to talk while there was still daylight and money to be made.
