Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

Sun Sep 30, 2018 10:44 am
Mission:

Setting the world right. Bringing peace where there was none. Justice. This was definitely a job for the all-powerful, all-mighty, super focused Kite. He stood in front of a boring grey building, smirking... For 10 minutes. The guards at the place kept looking at him. They were looking at him funny, in fact. The mobster living in this building was a cruel man, a threat to everyone. He had killed hundreds, if not thousands. He was the worst mankind had to offer. Kite looked back at the note in his hand. "Oh, 25th and 8TH. Oh okay.". He made a full 180-degree turn. Another grey building. No guards in sight. Kite went in.

The corridors were eerily empty. It confused Kite a bit but didn't bother him. He casually walked in. The whole building seemed to be empty. After a few minutes, thanks to the plan of the building given to him by a non-creepy person in the black market, Kite found the room of the "Boss" whoever that was. Kite didn't bother to ask. As soon as he entered, he recognized the painting on the wall that he was told about. With a huge grin on his face, the man walked over to the painting, and push it aside, revealing the secret safe behind it. "Okay, the pass was... Um... Yeah, I guess I should have noted it on this map... Um...". Suddenly, there were footsteps. And behind those set of footsteps, a LOT more footsteps. Kite swiftly pushed the painting back into place and found the best, most original hiding spot in the world; Under the TableTM.

Sakimori walked around a rather nondescript city full of grey buildings, a crumpled parchment clutched in his left hand while balancing his new weapon over his right shoulder. As he neared 10th and 8th, he began to unfurl the paper to double check the address. He looked upwards, spotting the building despite its plain appearance. He also spotted another man heading into the same exact building. The immortal frowned as he looked onwards, shifting the weapon, which was in its scythe form, horizontally behind his neck. Following the intruder shortly afterwards appeared to be a dozen or so men, all rushing inside. He stuffed the contract sheet in a pocket, putting his left arm behind the weapon and bearing the weight with his shoulders. After all, he had a contract he needed to complete. And he preferred the head on approach.

From the completely original spot underneath the desk, Kite would bear witness to the footsteps of the guards coming to a halt as they began to chatter and communicate to themselves. Those in the building would be greeted by a high pitched noise echoing from the mostly empty hallways, which provided great acoustics for his voice to carry. All chatter from the other guards came to a hush as one sound permeated the air. The sound of a whistle.

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

Oh no. Sounds. Sounds were always the words. Why? Because sounds were never just sounds. There was almost never the sound of footsteps, without feet, stepping. Chatter was never just chatter. It usually meant people, (and sometimes birds, but that was irrelevant for the current scenario). Then something happened. The sound of chatter and the sound of footsteps stopped. Unfortunately, it didn't work both ways. The lack of sounds didn't mean the disappearing of the source, necessarily. At first, Kite didn't understand why the chatters would suddenly stop, but then the answer to his question reached his ears, echoing in the empty room he was in.

Apparently, just sitting under a table and waiting wasn't going to solve everything. Oh how Kite wished it would. Regardless, it was time to act. TIME FOR ACTION. He got up from his hiding spot, moved the painting aside once again, and started trying out passwords on the safe.

What? It was perfect timing. With the intimidating and creepy whistling, the guards obviously would have been focused on that, rather than the room they believed was empty. He could have guessed the correct password by the time whatever situation was in the corridors would be over, and he could get out of the building without having to deal with either the guards or the whistling person.

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

As Sakimori whistled his merry tune, a dozen guards made themselves known at the far end of the hall. The hallway was poorly lit, the stone walls making the space seem even more claustrophobic than it already was. He closed the scythe into the form of a sword, but even then, he felt as though he was too confined in order to properly use it to its full potential. Instead, his whistling came to an end as he set his newly forged weapon down beside him.

The brawler readied his fists as the first man approached him with a short sword, a cocky smile flashing even in the dim light. As the man attempted a thrust, Sakimori sidestepped, pressing his body against the wall as he placed his right hand on the flat of the blade, pushing it upwards so that the flat hit the man in the face. He followed this move with a swift knee to the stomach, knocking the man to the other wall. The next man approached far too closely, hoping to catch the immortal off guard, only for Sakimori to grab onto the sword of the previous man with his left hand be hit in the nose by the butt of the sword’s handle, staggering him. A third man attempted to rush him as well, but was staggered as the hallway merely served as a choke point for the rogue shinobi. Sakimori dropped the blade as a punch came flying towards him, prompting him to push the arm away from him, sweeping the man’s left leg with his own right leg, guiding his body to fall to Sakimori’s left side, or the right side of the hallway from the perspective of the room. The man would attempt to stand up only to be greeted by a swift kick to the side as his rib cracked from the strength of the man he chose to challenge. Moving back to the second attacker, Sakimori added another attack by performing a quick jump off of the wall and landing a jab across the man’s jaw, resulting in Sakimroi landing on a single knee due to the weight he put behind his punch. The blond kneeled on one knee with a lowered head before raising it upwards, eyeing the door with a fiery passion.

He shouted as he charged forwards towards men surging into the hallway, leaping into the air and performing a drop kick on the unfortunate soul that had led the charge in an attempt to slow him down. As he was falling to the ground, he lowered his hands as to land on his palms, his strength allowing for him to catch himself without breaking his wrists. He swiftly followed this by using his arms to give him the momentum to sweep the legs of the fifth man, using the momentum to spin and stand up, fists at the ready. A sixth man stepped over his comrades, swinging twice as Sakimori weaved in and out of his punches before delivering a roundhouse kick across his face and letting his body slump to the floor. The shouting of men fighting in addition to Sakimori’s own thunderous yelling had been replaced with groans of those on the floor and the spiky haired immortal’s heavy breathing. Inhaling and exhaling through the smile of a man who loved the thrill of battle.

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

000001... No. 000002. No. 000003. No. Kite. 000004. No. Kite. Kite. Kite, this is not going to work. It would take too much time. 000005. No. Too bad Kite didn't care. He heard sounds coming down the corridor. Sounds of fighting, it was obvious enough for him to tell. Still, he needed to know more, to decide for the specifics of his strategy. Byakugan. His white eyes glowed, veins around them getting clearer. He looked into the safe. There seemed to be papers, stacked. Maybe the money was in bounds? Maybe they were checks? Classified files worth MILLIONS OF RYO? Kite couldn't tell, not because of a lack of sight, but because of a lack of knowledge. 000014. No. He turned back, to look into the corridor, see how what the situation was like there. A single man seemed to be facing half a dozen, with the other half close by. Kite paid close attention. The man seemed to be holding a strangely-shaped weapon. If it was an anime, this would be the part where a giant red question mark would have appeared over Kite's head. Alas, it was not. Seemingly, the man was busy fighting the dozen guards, and the dozen guards were all focused on the man that was singlehandedly defeating them, so there was nobody currently headed in Kite's direction.

Kite exhaled. Relief. He turned back towards the safe. 000015. No. 000016. No. This wasn't going to work. 000017. No. This had no potential of working. 000018. No. No, of course not. Who would set the first four numbers of a password to be 0? 000019. No. This was pointless. Why was Kite even doing this? Well, there were a few reasons.

First of all, he could never say no to anyone.

Especially when they asked nicely. And especially when they offered him money, and lots of it, on top of asking him nicely. It was just how Kite worked. He was an unlucky kid, and was pushed out a lot, having gone through multiple sets of guardians who all died in tragic cart accidents. He was thought of as a cursed kid by the towns he lived in as orphans afterwards. So whenever someone was nice to him, it meant Kite's loyalty. Well, at least in the early days it was that easy to get Kite's loyalty. He quickly learned that not all people were sincere when they were acting nice. Some just manipulated, used him, and some just drew him into traps. Either way though, some part of that trait stuck with Kite. Every once in a while, he would fall for niceness once again.

Secondly, he liked going where the wind blows.

Yeah there's no paragraph for this.

And last but not least; he didn't know what else to do. And he had all the patience in the world to not do things efficiently. 000124. No.

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

Since Sakimori had yet to learn chakra sensory, he had no idea that while he was dealing with all the guards via the direct approach, another person was actually by the safe he needed to rob for the contract. Unbeknownst to the jashinist, the other infiltrator was currently trying out every possible combination on a six digit safe, which only contained literally a million possible combinations. However, Sakimori had pissed off the guards enough for them to forget about their actual assignment guarding the safe and instead had taunted them enough for him to be the sole focus of their intention.

A few from this batch had opted to brandish weapons. The smirking bastard lowered his fists and instead opted to point a finger at them. Surging with a sense of bravado, he turned his hand so his palm faced upwards, bending his fingers inwards and egging them on. Since these were just low level grunts, they took the bait with ease. The first two of this batch rushed him simultaneously, but only the one to his right wielded a weapon. Sakimori delivered a swift jab to the left one’s stomach before dipping to the side to avoid an overly telegraphed overhead slash from his partner, letting the momentum of the swing cause him to stagger forwards. He swept his left leg towards the man’s ankle, swinging his own leg upwards in an arc and causing the sword wielder to faceplant against the not so soft flooring. The first man came at him with a fist raised as a third surged forwards from the corridor. Sakimori sidestepped, grabbing the first man’s arm while the third attempted a swing, spinning around so that the third man’s blow connected with the first man’s glass jaw. He quickly dropped the now unconscious man, throwing the new attacker against the wall, using his heel to make the man fall before swiftly kicking him in the throat.

As Sakimori did so, the final three rushed all at once, two of them each grabbing one arm and holding them upwards as the third winded up for a punch that connected across his jaw. The rogue smirked and looked at the man, who began to try to taunt him. “You think you can just walk in here-” Sakimori tilted his head backwards. “-and fight all our buddies with no conseq-” He would not have time to finish his sentence before Sakimori’s head surged forwards, his forehead connecting with the talker’s nose, causing him to stagger backwards and trip on the unconscious body of a fellow guard. Taking advantage of their momentary confusion, Sakimori pushed all of his body weight towards the guard holding his right arm, breaking out of the hold and backhanding the man in the face. The left guard attempted a swing, but the immortal dropped his body weight, grabbing onto the man’s leg and pushing off of the ground, making him lose balance. He continued this motion, using it to roll on top of the man horizontally, using his left arm to pin the man and his right arm to deliver three blows across his face.

The blond bruiser stood up, fist gripped on the collar of the man’s shirt, looking around for any stragglers. Seeing as that there were no longer any guards, he dropped the man who fell back onto the ground with a thud. Sakimori retrieved his sword, balancing it atop his shoulder, careful to step over the now unconscious heaps on the floor. He entered the guarded room only to find someone else attempting to crack the same safe open. He walked over towards the rather plain looking fellow before clearing his throat. “So. What d’ya think you’re doin’ with my prize?”

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

Kite was constantly checking back and forth as he tried out the passwords. He kept track of the intruder (well, the second intruder, after himself), who was going through guards like they were rabbits with daggers. In fact, now that Kite taught about it, rabbits with daggers sounded scarier than the guards. 999998. No. Wow, he really had picked up the pace in the last few minutes, hadn't he? Regardless, he had to take some time off from trying out numbers, so he could get out of fighting with the Scythe-wielding man if possible. He didn't know if the man would have counted the men or not, but before the man could come in the range to see him, Kite went out of the room. He knew beforehand from his Byakugan vision, that right out of the room, now right in front of him, one of the guards was standing, facing the opposite direction.

Kite grabbed the guard, locking his chin closed so he couldn't shout, as he dragged him back into the room he was just in. He was still keeping an eye on the Scythe-man as he did so. He waited for the man to finish his business with the rest of the guards, as he was holding the man locked in his arm near the open window. Wait. There was an open window. There was no need for any of this. Kite wanted to slap his palm on his face, but his current position didn't really allow it. Seeing the "Scythe for sore eyes" was still a bit away, Kite dragged the man towards the safe, to try the last combination. 999999. No. "What?" Kite sighed, "Is this for real? Did I? Oh god. Did I miss a single combination? Wow. Do I need to start over now?". 000001. "No. Damn it.".

Kite sighed. "You know the combination buddy?" he asked to the guy he was keeping locked in his arms. The man shook his head no. At least he tried to, but the direction of his struggle was enough to signal Kite that he didn't know the password. A few seconds later, in an impressively short amount of time, the blonde walked in.

As soon as he did, Kite did what he was prepared to do the whole time. He threw the man out of the window. "Yeah you better run like the rest of them!" he shouted, as the man dashed away and disappeared into the streets. Kite then turned back. "Your prize?" he asked, "What did you take out, like 15, 16 people? Well, I sent out like 17 or 18, so I'd say we're even. Don't you think? Also, that guy I just sent out... Probably will call for back up, like the rest of them. We can take the money and get out before they arrive, less work, less trouble. What do you say?".

Sakimori gave a quizzical glance as a man was thrown out the window, apparently still left conscious. So did I only beat eleven? Or were there thirteen total? he thought to himself. “Tch.” He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, displaying his disappointment at letting one get away while Kite yelled after the scraggler. Regardless, Sakimori would lift the sword form off of his shoulder and point it single handedly towards the safe cracker. That was when he would have asked about his prize.

The blond closed his eyes and gave a deep sigh. “You’re new at this aren’t you?” he would say, opening a single eye as he did so. As fun as brawling can be, it’s boring unless it’s a challenge. More grunts wouldn’t be nearly as appealing as just getting the money. “I guess that could work.” He opened his other eye and placed the blade back into its resting position on his shoulder as he leaned forwards to examine the safe. Six digits. A million possibilities.

“So. What combinations have you tried?” Should Kite explain how he had already gone through all the numbers from 000001 to 999999, the immortal would just look at him puzzled. “Step back.” Should he do so, Sakimori would ready his sword, changing its shape into a scythe before swinging across the safe, cutting it in half. The keypad would be cut in such a way that only the 0, #, and * keys remained, the lock still somewhat intact but no longer useful. “Work smart, not hard.” With that, Sakimori would begin to reach into the safe to withdraw its contents for the reward.

Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P] Empty Re: Smells of Cheap Whiskey [P]

Was he friend or foe? Where did he come from, where would he go? The scythe was covered in red. The man didn't seem to have a reason to avoid any more blood. "I... You could say I lack experience in fields that include breaking in, stealing and trying out passwords...". He stopped for a few seconds to think about it, "Okay, I guess you could say I'm a bit experienced with trying passwords now.". He shook his head, disappointed in himself. "Yeah I tried all possibilities, from 1 to 999.999. None of them seemed to work. I think I must have missed a single one among the million...".

Kite took a step to the left, away from Sakimori, the blonde Scthe-man he didn't know yet. Thankfully, the scythe was aimed at the safe, not at him, so Kite quickly calmed down. The man straight up destroyed the safe, in fact. "That's quite a swing." he said, not even stopping to think. Compliments were like breathing to Kite. It was a habit he had picked up to, well, get picked up by gangs. It had worked wonders for him almost all his life. When Sakimori said, "Work smart, not hard." Kite chuckled. He looked back at the mess Sakimori left behind, and his bloody scythe, and back into his clean hands, the open window and, the safe. "I couldn't agree more." he said, "I guess it always pays off to be the smartest man in the room.". He pulled the cover of the safe, but it didn't budge. The hit made it cave in, but apparently did not split the "little door" clean off. Kite noticed the keypad.

0. *. #. Oh. Now it was clear. 000000. "Yes.". The safe opened up. There was money, as well as a few documents Kite didn't even attempt to read. "So, fifty-fifty, we walk the opposite direction? Unless you wanna... You know... Group up, hit bigger targets?". Kite smiled, and took half of the money from the safe. "Before that though, what's your name?"
