Akemi's Mission Log (Has 1 e-rank, 1 d-rank and 1 c-rank completed)

Well, it was finally time. Time to take the next step in his long journey as a shinobi. He had been rushing the missions recently, he knew not why. But he still pursued his dream of ranking up to chuunin. He had met Hikari - The Chuunin - and something had clicked within him. The confidence she displayed was mesmerising to Akemi, how could one person be THAT strong and confident at the same time? Akemi didn’t know, yet he had somehow came to the conclusion that is was because of the journey she had taken to become a chuunin. Perhaps that had helped her, it had certainly helped him. He had met a variety of people. People like Hikari, and Nano. Both peculiar characters indeed. And what’s more, he had come out better from it. He had spoken to so many people, that he was starting to come out of his shell. He could speak to more people with more ease, it was still difficult, but not as much as it had been previously. He didn’t blush as profusely as he usually did when speaking to females, he still did, but it was much more unnoticeable now. It was a very profound, and Akemi hoped that becoming a chuunin would only push forward this development.

He smiled warmly as he clambered out of bed, he felt like a young child again. He felt excited and nervous. Butterflies flew around his stomach as he pulled on his clothes. What kind of mission would the first step to Chuunin be? A test of strength? A test of wits? Something completely different? Akemi could only guess, and he wasn’t the brightest of people. So his mind was at a complete blank when guessing what could happen. Hopefully, it wouldn’t be anything which required socialising or talking to people. He may of had significant improvements in his communication skills, but it wasn’t enough to talk to people comfortably yet. Oh god, a horrific thought flashed through his mind. What would happen if he had to perform his skills in front of a bunch of people? The horrible images continued. What if… What if he had to speak to loads of people? A group of people? The tempo of his breathing quickened, his heart thudded against the interior of his rib-cage. He felt like he was floating. Immobile, unable to fight against the current. Sitting in a dark void with no one to help him. His skin turned wet and clammy, sweat formed above his eyes. He felt cold. Oh, the cold. It was bone-chilling.

Then just as fast as the panic attack had started, it ended. With a simple thought. There was no point worrying now, for all he knew, it could just be a simple written test. If it was a simple test, and he arrived looking like he did now. He doubted that anyone would want to go near him. His hair was messy and sweaty (Look at me and my sick rhymes). His eyes were wild. He looked like someone who belonged in Arkham Asylum, though he knew not what that was. Akemi wasn’t hip and trendy, how the hell was he supposed to know about cool stuff like batman? Or maybe it wasn’t that he was not cool, maybe it was just that he was in the wrong world. Once again, Akemi found a recurring thought pop into his head. ‘Who knew?’

Akemi had a quick shower and brushed his teeth before leaving, he didn’t want to go out looking like he had before. God no. Pretty much no one would want to see Akemi looking like Hannibal Lecter. Akemi was rather surprised, what was with all the media references today? Perhaps he was just looking for anyway to expand his ever-growing word count. Who needed to write descriptively when you could just insert a bunch of references and bam bam bam! Watch you word count grow like a teenage kid going through puberty! Akemi shuddered at his recent thought, what an oddball he was turning out to be. Hoorah for Character Development! With Akemi looking Fresh like a new pair of shoes, and his clothes perfectly ironed and clean. Akemi grabbed all of his ninja gear. His staff, his newly-acquired tanto, both his weapon pouches. And he was ready to r-rumble.

He stepped out the door, admiring the beauty of the morning. The yellow sun hung on the horizon like a lightbulb, not even the clouds wanted to block the heavenly glow which radiated from the ball o’ gas in the sky. With his panic attack having died down, Akemi’s excited smile returned back to his rounded face. He felt calm, he was ready to do this mission. He was ready to begin his next step towards never feeling defenceless or afraid again! He was going to become invincible! Never afraid of anything, or every fearing for his life! It was a childish aspiration, but it still gave Akemi hope and drive.

He soon arrived at the mission center, nervousness beginning to settle in his stomach again. Though this time, he was actually relatively successful in suppressing it, having a panic attack in front of the proctor would be disastrous. If there was actually an earthly proctor that is, and not some omnipotent god who had the power to shut down even the most powerful of techniques. He stepped through the glass doors, immediately confronted by the coolness in the air. It seemed they air-conditioned the heck out of this place, he welcomed it. Lapped it up, akin to a dog and their water bowl. After idolising the crisp air in the glass building, he decided that he probably looked weird. So he walked up to the desk and rested his hands on it nervously. A vain attempt to try and ‘give him a grip’ on something solid. The lady behind the desk settled down the book called “50 shades of gray” on the counter and looked up at him with a worn-out gaze.

“Akemi Hiyu, correct” She questioned him, obviously bored out of her mind at this job. Akemi only nodded, not trusting himself enough to speak without sounding like a disgruntled mickey mouse. “Well, i have some good news and some bad news, which would you like to hear first?” Akemi gulped, bad news about his exam? Oh no. He shrugged to his question, his mind not working properly due to his nerves. “Okay then, i’ll start with the bad news. The normal exam has been cancelled. Something to do with bad time slottage. Don’t shoot the messenger, it wasn’t me,” Akemi only nodded, that was the bad news, there had to be SOME good news… Right? The lady continued “The good news is that we’ve recently had another mission request come in. Some ninja and priests have got into a bit of a scuffle down at the water gardens. We wish to see how you handle this conflict. Being a chuunin isn’t all about combat ability you know!” her voice took upon itself a bit of sing-song tone near the end, it seemed that she had already seen right through Akemi. She knew his social anxiety, and she was going to try and mock him for it. How quaint.

Before she could say anymore, Akemi grabbed the mission slip, crinkled it into his left trouser pocket with a hurry in his stride. A conflict. Between people. Actual people. Real danger. People could actually get hurt. He had to find some way of resolving the conflict, without speaking that much, and without hurting anybody… He drew in a ragged breath, the familiar cold feeling of panic sank over him. Ohgodohgodohgodohgod, what was he supposed to do? Despite his panic attack, he never actually stopped his steps to the water gardens. His determination winning triumphantly over his fear. And then it hit him. A technique. No… A skill. A power which was most definitely suited to this job. The ability to instill fear into people’s very souls. To most probably be able to… Control a crowd. Holy ****. Was this a gift from the heavens? His memory was certainly proving to be a valuable asset at the moment. What would he do without it?

On the way to the water gardens, he came across a small corner-shop library which had the words “Shinobi Instructions” etched into a wooden sign on the front. How handy was that? Akemi was really starting to wonder if he should become religious, with the amount of luck he was receiving today. He was legitimately wondering if there was some kind of god smiling down upon him. Well, whatever, Akemi was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so, nervousness melting off him like butter on a knife, he stepped inside the shop. Once inside, he didn’t spend too much time faffing around. So he walked in, grabbed the book labeled ‘How to display your power!’ payed for it, and walked right out. But how did Akemi pay for it? He’s supposed to be skint! I hear you asking, well it’s simple. With him grinding out loads of missions to become a chuunin, of course had ended up with an excess amount of money! So much, that he didn’t even know what to do with it! Indeed, it was fun having a jingle in his pocket as he walked. But how is he not weighed down by all that ryo? Simple, most of it was either back at his apartment, or stored away in his storage displacement realm. Easy as pie.

He continued walking, fingers scanning the lines of the book as he read the instructions for display of power. He started by reading the introduction.

The display of power is hard to be described as a jutsu. As it is more of a way for stronger shinobi to show all the weaker ones that they’re boss. That they’re not to be messed with. This can be done in a variety of ways. Radiating an aura, oozing killer intent, making an amazing beast that can be seen for miles.

Akemi paused there, making a huge monster? Whoaaa, he thought of the practical implications of that. It wouldn’t surprise him if Missing ninja used this skill, to scare normal shinobi out of their wits before killing them outright and stealing their money. Akemi pondered this skill, it seemed to be incredibly situational, if you were stronger than someone, they would be scared. If you weren't… Then boo-hoo, it doesn’t work. Akemi continued, brutally aware that he would actually have to use this in a few minutes time. In front of people, too potentially save lives. He sighed, the Hiyu would have plenty of faith that his current luck would manage to push him through this mission. Even if he ended up with broken bones and the like. Stop dawdling, he needed to finish reading up on this technique, fast! He bowed his head down to face the book, and continued with his pursuit of knowledge.

His fingers scanned the rest of the pages, the more and more pages he read, the more a distince cold-dread settled upon his being. There was just one problem about this book. There were no instructions on exactly HOW to perform the skill. Only the applications that the skill offered. Yup, it seemed that his luck had finally ran out. He inwardly groaned in distress, why did it have to run out now of all places? He actually NEEDED this technique to SAVE lives. Why, oh why, couldn’t it just work? He decided to try the technique anyway, just to see what happened.

Alright, so the technique was all about radiating an aura? How hard could that be? Very, he’d imagine. What, with his severe problems with learning stuff and all. He focused on a nearby bird which was currently perched up on a tree, what a better test subject than a bird? Amirite? He squinted at the bird, and started to direct chakra at it. This, proving to be futile, for the simple reason that directing chakra outside of the body was nigh-impossible without a technique to do it for you.

No, the technique wasn’t chakra-based. After all, everyone had an aura, sometimes you can just tell when someone wanted to hurt you. It was a peculiar feeling, it set every hair on your body on end, it made you scared and panicky. And then suddenly, it came to him. Akemi almost screamed “EUREKA” but he didn’t out of consent of the poor villages. He let his focus drift to the bird again, and this time - instead of directing chakra to it - he focussed his FEELINGS. The anxiety he felt every time he spoke to someone, he directed it at the bird. And sure enough, the bird started to tweet, panicked. It started to flap its wings uncontrollably, flailing around in the air until Akemi stopped focussing on it. He had done it, he had learnt it, now it was time to put it to practical use.

Very soon after, he arrived at the water gardens, to be greeted by a truly horrific sight. Two groups, each side had a huge variety and assortment of weapons, they did indeed like quite terrifying. The priests were armed with sticks, stones, chair legs anything they could get their hands on really. While the ninja’s actually had pointy weapons. Kunais, Throwing stars, tantos. And it was quite clear, that both side were desperate to use the weapons. This obviousness coming from their facial expressions and their general tone of voice. The hate and disgust on both side’s faces was very scary, there voices were loud enough to be heard in a huge vicinity. Even Akemi - who was currently about 100 meters away - could clearly hear what they were saying. Stuff like “We don’t need you” and “We made you” and “Go die, scum” were echoing around the gardens. This definitely required the work of a skilled ninja…

No, he HAD to do this, he NEEDED to become chuunin. Show the word (And especially that one jackass named Xyxer) that he did have the skill and low mortality rate which was required to become a chuunin. He would show the world that he, Akemi Hiyu, was strong. It was time. With an uncharacteristically bold walk, Akemi marched up to the group, remaining relatively unnoticed until he decided to make himself known. Oh god, there were about 50 of them, tops. And they were all going to be looking at him.

“YOU LOT,” He screamed, his usual shy, timid voice sounding ferocious and leadership-like. They all stopped what they were doing and all turned to face him. 50 eyes stared at Akemi, his knees began to weaken, but he persisted. Operating purely on instinct and nothing else. “Why do you fight? What is it going to achieve? More hate? I think you can all agree, hate is the last thing this world needs right now,” Akemi no longer needed to shout to get their attention, that was good. They all looked at him angrily, what had he done? He had merely told them the truth. A ninja took a menacing step forward, holding his kunai in an aggressive position. “What does a teeny tiny scrawny kid like you have to do with our business, hmm? Why don’t you go play hide and seek with the pre-schoolers like a good little boy like you should.” He sneered, a feral looking thing. Akemi’s knees turned weaker, he was losing the crowd. They thought he was a kid. He didn’t want to use his trump card - The display of power - just yet though, he might as well try and win them over with his own words. Display of power would be better used as a final thing, to protect him should the need arise.

“I’m no kid, i am a shinobi of Hoshigakure, i’m currently genin, but i’m doing this to become a chuunin. So please, settle down and let’s talk this over. No need to resort to violence.” Akemi would stare with nearly puppy-dog eyes as he watched the group. Despite looking relaxed, Akemi was on VERY high alert, his posture was loose. It allowed to to swiftly block most attacks should it occur. Upon Akemi’s comment about being a shinobi of Hoshigakure, another shinobi would snicker and step forward. “You really expect us - as ACTUAL shinobi of Hoshigakure - to believe your story about being an actual ninja? Besides, if they let a weak and scrawny kid like you into our ranks, our standards must be getting pretty low,” He laughed, and was soon joined in by several others around him. Akemi closed his eyes and breathed out of his nostrils slowly, this was proving to be quite taxing on his patience. To prove that he was a ninja, he simply lifted his baggy jumper up slightly, revealing the Headband which he was using as a belt.

“Okay, fine, we don’t care, get lost,” a priest and a shinobi both said at the same time, theys shot each other dirty look, as if to say “Get lost, that’s my line” and then, they suddenly erupted. “HOW DARE YOU COPY ME” One of the priests screamed at the ninja. “OH YEAH, YOU WANNA FIGHT, BITCH!” The ninja replied, his face going red with rage.

Both the groups started closing in on each other, leering and jeering, holding their weapons extremely tightly. Akemi tried to stop them, but to no avail. His pleas for their ceasefire fell on deaf ears. Wasn’t there a saying about this? “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound” That was it. And it seemed to perfectly captivate what was currently happening to Akemi, for gods sake. The two groups were eventually nearly nose-to-nose, one ninja rose his katana, intent on bringing it down on a priest’s head.

That was when Akemi pretended to sort of… Snapped.

He released his display of power into the group, the killing intent paralyzing them in their tracks. They started to foresee their deaths, endless torture was all they could think about. The shear amount of intent radiating of Akemi was truly mesmerising. They all looked at Akemi, to see him staring down at the floor, his black hair falling in front of his face to disguise his eyes. He slowly looked up, staring at the group in front of him. Then he started to speak, his voice coming out coldly, filled with malice and hate. This was - of course - all a rouse from Akemi. There was no way that Hoshi’s little ball o’ sunshine would ever release this intent to kill someone. He simply needed a way to get their attention, and what else would garner Akemi as much attention as a small child seemingly radiating killer intent like a professional killer?

“Listen, all this fighting is pointless. You’re all pointless. Tell me, why do you fight?” He looked at them, no life in his grey, unforgiving eyes. “T-t-they are the r-r-r-r-reason for all our suffering!” A priest stuttered, pointing a shaking finger at the group of ninja. Akemi sighed, it seemed both the groups had come to a sort of mutual hate for one another, all because of a simple misunderstanding. “No” A ninja spoke out, his voice gruff and stern “We fixed all their suffering. And they don’t appreciate us for it,” Akemi could kind of see where the ninjas where coming from there, his knowledge on Hoshi’s history was rather limited after all, he might as well probe further.

He looked at the group of priests “How? How are they the reason for your suffering?” He looked at them. Offering no mercy in his gaze “T-T-Their sinful powers, it’s not normal. Their powers are corrupting the land, offering nothing but bad luck,” Akemi nodded, he was not religious, but if he was, he could almost understand what they meant. He nodded towards the group of ninja, “And you, why did you end their suffering?” The ninja who had spoken previously decided to step up when no one else answered for several seconds. “This city used to be plagued by a constant barrage of famine and droughts , due to how isolated it was. When ninja moved in, we fixed that. Turning Hoshi into the peaceful and prosperous place that it is now,” Akemi nodded thoughtfully. Both sides presented intriguing points to their case. It was annoying, because he was somewhat biased towards towards the ninja side, but that was only because he was a ninja himself. He wished he had the skill to see an argument from both sides just as easily as a judge or some other people. But like most humans, he was not perfect. He had his strengths. But he also had his downfalls. His social skills being one of them.

“I see, i think this is just one big misunderstanding.” He then stopped releasing his aura of intent and allowed the groups to move, he was sure that they would have calmed down now. Before continuing his speech, he took a second to scan his eye along the group to make sure that they wouldn’t make any moves while he was speaking. And was pleased (And terrified) to see that their gazes were all help solidly on Akemi’s. His nervousness was starting to catch up to him now, it wouldn’t surprise him if he started to sound like Mickey Mouse on helium soon. “Priests, the power of ninjas are not unnatural, nor are they sinful. Chakra is merely the energy and life force in every human being, it resides in everyone. Including you. In fact, i insist that you go learn some basic chakra control exercises, you will be amazed at how natural and amazing it feels. Try and tell everyone else you meet as well, perhaps if we work together, then we can stop this cycle of hatred in Hoshi? Perhaps unite everyone for once? Think of the stuff that can be achieved if everyone just worked together.” He paused to take a breath, all the priests had an astonished look to them, they were all murmuring amongst themselves. Obviously in shock at what they had heard. He turned away from the Priests and directed his next short speech towards the group of ninja. “Now, Shinobi. What you did is not acceptable. Your powers are supposed to protect the people of Hoshigakure. You should never - under any circumstances - use your skills against the weak and defenceless. Even if they attack you, you must dodge and move on. You certainly have the skills to do it, so why don’t you?” His last question had obviously hit the group hard. The ninja sat in silence and listened to him, almost like a poor child getting told off by their mother. “I know how you feel, i’ve seen first-hand how mean these priests can be. But don’t you think, that you are perhaps being mean back? Like the priests, i insist that you go to some of their sermons and such. Perhaps you could build a better understanding of their culture? We have two different cultures in the city hidden among the stars, the religious, and the shinobi. Most of the conflict is due to a difference in beliefs, so why don’t you all just try to understand each other more?” The last part was directed towards all of them. Priests and ninja alike.

They all nodded as a collective, stood up, and began to trudge of the water gardens. Talking amongst themselves, it was a truly magical sight. At first, they had been extremely aggressive to each other, but now, they were mingling. All in one group.

And that was when his uncharacteristic boldness wore off, and he collapsed onto the ground, facing the sky. He drew in a scared breath, he had done it. He had faced his fears and had came out better for it. What a day to be alive!

(Yay, DONE! Soz for cheesiness, but didn’t know what else to do, xD. I also aplogise if there's any typos or errors, i don't have enogh time to proof read :))
