Can't Hide

Two of them had already started crying and the leader of the bunch now looked beyond the edge of the alley. His breath caught at what he saw, but he tried to show no fear. The others were rattled enough as it is and submitting to their brand of fear would only make matters worse. But the monster was getting closer, closer than it had ever been, and for some reason it felt as though the monster knew exactly the three of them were hiding. Turning quickly to his two crying friends, Hoshi grabbed them both by their shoulders and pulled them along as he ran deeper into the alley. The pathway became narrower, and like a maze it welcomed them into a cacophony of turns.

"Listen Hide, Mayu, we can't slow down. We just CAN'T slow down okay?!"

Hide nodded. He was the first to begin crying and it was from seeing this panic that Mayu began to cry as well. Knocking over small pots and portraits was all for the momentary thrill of things. It was either that or homework. But they didn't expect this.

Dead end.

Hoshi whirled around and the hair on his spine stood in salute. Terror took a hold of him quickly and mercilessly. It was standing right there, blocking their exit. Mayu gave out a shrill scream and stumbled backwards into the soft soil behind him. Hide however clung tighter to Hoshi's shirt and continued his bewildered wailing. They were trapped. And this thing would have its way with them.

It stepped forward.

Hoshi's bravery quickly drained through and he could not stop his legs from shaking. It stepped another step and suddenly it was right before them. Tall. Six feet. Bending over, he was face to face with this thing. Its face could not have been human. And when it opened its mouth, crocodilian teeth like those in story books were all that Hoshi saw -- the teeth that would surely tear him into tiny tiny shreds. And then it spoke.

"Listen to me you sniveling fuckin' turds. If I catch you causing the store keepers over on Kumori Square any trouble, I'm going to pull your limbs off and feed them to you. Got it?"

"YES SIR!," they answered in unison. Two of them had pissed their pants, and the other one had taken a quick shit. It was all a very troubling affair, and not one they would forget soon.
