The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

The longer Kenshin stayed here, the more uncertain he became, the powerful shinobi hardly seemed to be in the right state of mind as he proclaimed the Senju to be part of some prophecy and seemed quite ready to be devoted to the man he claims to have just met, Kenshin wasn't quite certain what he should do or how he should handle the strange group he seems to have entangled himself in with just a simple request to spend the night in rest with what he initially assumed to be a relatively harmless couple. How wrong he was, the murderer of a teacher and teammates, a powerful lunatic and a strangely passive woman, all were terrible signs of what company he had found himself sharing, company that may turn on him if he didn't play his cards right, he may have thought he could take on the couple if need be but the powerful shinobi had changed the battlefield entirely, even in a duel, Kenshin wasn't certain he could defeat the man and now aided by the couple, his likelihood of victory were near zero and his only hope would be to retreat from the group if things got out of hand.

The arrival of another had initially put him on edge, he could sense them before he could see them, a mildly impressive chakra source that had surpassed the couple nearly twice yet was weaker than the shinobi, Kenshin could only tense his muscles as he stared toward the location of their next encounter, yet he was surprised to see a mere child approaching, meek and cautious, a weapon in hand that he held desperately within his pocket as he looked between the gathered group and put on an air of false weakness, childness that belied the true strength he harbored within. A fact that the Senju had picked up on as well, a fact that made Kenshin curious rather the man could sense chakra as he could, if the man was capable of sensing then that would put a little damper on his planning, he'd have to be careful in how he'd tackle a possible escape, although he suspected the only real threat to any escape would be the deranged man with the glowing red eyes, he had more than twice the chakra of the child.

He listened as the Senju made a speech about the society that had abandoned the others, left them for one reason or another and made promise to lead them into a new family, one that would welcome the unwelcomed and provide them with a new, stronger purpose, a sentiment that Kenshin could get behind on paper yet there were too many unknowns at play here, too many chances for something to go wrong and he couldn't say that he trusted any of them, the only one he wasn't weary of so far was the woman who had knowingly traveled with the Senju, the same one who had openly admitted to killing what should've been his own allies and instructor.

Yet again, Kenshin felt another joining, similar state of chakra to the child and he watched as the cloaked man in glasses made himself known, addressing the so called leader of this little group being formed, the father of Kintsugi as he proclaimed himself to be, warning the Senju to be weary of dreaming so large, seemingly not quite ready to agree to form this little cult like family just yet either. "He speaks wisely, you speak of such lofty dreams yet you have not provided any reason on why we should follow you. I'd like to make my intentions clear, that I shall leave you all be if I'm not convinced soon in order to spare myself from knowing too much about this Kintsugi group of yours." Kenshin had finally decided to speak up, he was aware making his intentions well known to the others could potentially backfire but if the man truly did mean to welcome the unwelcomed to help them, surely they wouldn't immediately betray their own ideals and declare to everyone within the group that you're either joining the family or dying here.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:40 pm
A few steps back, Akaime found some distance between himself and everyone else. Giving a gratuity nod as a response to the Senju, he found some trickling hope in the wounds he wanted to hear. Though, in the back of his mind, he couldn’t help but think this could just be deceivement. He has been deceived before. His memory fluctuates into that time. He can still feel rain upon his face. The droplets that fell from the sky, sweet and cool and lingering in the empty, stretching silence with their soft, heartfelt plink-plink on bare rock and parched, poisoned earth. The rain-washed soot from whatever choking shrubs and bushes could survive there.

It temporarily washed away the pain from his heart at that time. It had stung before it soothed. He figured it was the price the heavens extract for solace. Or perhaps the price Fate extracts from her sister Fortune: no rest shall the evil have by the law of justice, yet the unfortunate shall be scoured and the unlucky sustained. He thought that is how they deal with one who is both.

Inconsequentialities. He has done evil, years and more, and he is weary of it. The heavens or the distant gods may dispense their justice or lack thereof for the crimes on his head.

He remembered nothing but hatred. No, he did not remember. He simply hated: hated the invisible chain of power around his throat, the collar that bound him to that land and to its lord; hated the hands he had that raise against his will, a power that has already drunk the blood of innocents and still thirsts for more; hated the threads of darkness spreading through his soul, spinning their evil as sickening spider webs through his enchained core.

He hated the darkness he had become, though he did not remember the light. But he does remember the hands that killed, that did the bidding of the heaven’s cruelest master, Jashin; the hands that may damn and deliver.

And yet, in the darkness of that tainted land; Akaime had wandered into unspoken territory, and in the shadows that had bound him came a prophecy that would light his way. Something soft had covered him. He didn’t remember a light being that gentle—but no, he did. He remembered the sunrise over the wondrous sea and the moonrise in Ketsuekigakure, and the stars in the western sky, and the gray ships of his home village and the warm laughter of his mother.

And thus, he banished himself into the edge of the world. A woodland realm that has been untouched by the harshness the world had bestowed. A place that could be sacrosanct. His presence in the ancient forest kept all those that wandered in this place at bay, allowing vegetation and life to flourish monumentality in the wicked grove. Laws and restrictions were soon placed and enforced with his arrival by the surrounding towns and villages. He had been accurately depicted as a demon, a wraith, and a ghost; all in one. Eyes that reminisce of the glow of fresh blood with strange and tribalistic markings that covered his body. A being that could command the very essence of vitality with the flow is hands. But as time went on; he was deemed a myth. But still, the stories and rumors that have been established still lingered; and even those with the bravest hearts dared not to linger into the heart of Wicked Grove. And that is how his alias was established, The Witchking of Wicked Grove.

As his past has been detailed, some could say that he is weary but slightly optimistic of his part to play with this group. However, it didn’t seem like it was the end of gathering companions. Soon, a young boy with hair that resembles a beautiful blushing cherry blossom graced them with his presence. His eyes were strikingly emerald toned. But even with his boyish charm trying to take effect, something was off about him. It wasn’t anything on the surface of his person, it was something much deeper than that. The blood flow that filled his veins and arteries was not normal. They resembled Kakushin’s as it meant they were seemingly manufactured. Interesting.

Akaime’s eyes continued to linger on the ‘child’ and that is when he noticed his fingers moving around in his pocket, fumbling some items. Could be a weapon or could be something harmless. But all-in-all, it is something to be watched. Well, it was for that time being. It seems Kakushin had sharp eyes, noticing the actions and the items held within. Senbon. Plus, it is made apparent that this ‘child’ is much older than he expected. His body might have stopped growing, but his mind is years beyond his age. Another interesting fact.

Even with the facade, Kakushin allowed the boy to take part in their gathering and the proposition that they are soon to hear.

The Senju began to speak as he rose up. His words ebbed and flowed with each other as his vocal tone shifted through theatrics and dynamics. He communicated that his theorem is that they were a collective of people who were either cursed, banished, ostracized, or human subjects of scientific research, who could ban together to form some group like an interim family. While he believed the prophecy led him to this moment, the words that Kakushin spoke hit home with him. If what he spoke was indeed true, he would follow him into the new beginnings that he promises. Free will and fate had been a long internal battle that he has been experiencing for a time; so maybe now, he’ll let that invisible string that has predestined his connection to Kakushin lead his way. Let him lead the way.

A smile crept upon his face, and it was a hopeful one. If this group was actually establishing right now, a sense of wonder and fulfillment soon began to flood his abdomen. He hasn’t been around people for so long, even longer to those he once considered family. Some could say that he is naive to this situation but at this time, he had a sanguine view. But with that, the air began to grow thick as someone approached. The very essence of death lingered over the air, and it was quite the aura. Turning his focus, he watched another appear from the shadows.

His attire was adorning in thick-like fabric that seemed ritualistic. From what he could make out, he had light hair that seemed to fade; but he couldn’t really tell because of the hood that covered his hair. The glasses he wore hid the color of his eyes, so that is still unknown to Akaime. But what was very apparent is that spirits walked with him. Akaime could almost hear the voices through the air, but it was all unknown to him. It wasn’t clear as when he spoke to Jashin, but it was still there.

Taking note of his entire being, the man kneeled down to the fire and gave a statement. What he said wasn’t entirely false. While Akaime had his own reasons to affiliate himself with Kakushin, what would be the defining factors that would convince the others to join? Asking for loyalty and to follow could be an exorbitant request, even with the promises of safety, power, and knowledge. Even the one the beastly man spoke out during this interaction, following what the robed man had said.

“It does seem like what you are saying is pious. Perhaps, you could explain how you are going to do all these things and the necessary steps to reach them that will benefit all of them, us, in the long run. Trust is not easily persuaded and established, but it can be gained through action.” Akaime spoke out as his gaze turned towards Kakushin before spanning out to the rest of the group that had conspired.

“I know some of you are weary about your safety and conflicting ideas that could result from forming a group; but I am well aware of my power. If you choose to follow Kakushin. I will defend you as well as long as I breathe, and that is an oath I vow to uphold.” Akaime finished as he let his energy fluctuate out. His raw energy flowed out like a thick, crimson miasma. Even those that did not have chakra vision could see his display of power as it dwarfed all those in the area. By feeling his power, he hoped the others would believe that he was genuine on what he spoke.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Mon Dec 11, 2023 6:04 pm
''It seems we have others that are destined to join us! You are cold little one? By all means, sit by the fire. But first, If you could do me the honors of letting go of those senbons in your hand I would appreciate greatly. Could you tell us your name little one? Ah yes... be a good boy then! Stop pretending to be that young and vulnerable. Be your true self, by all means. I was about to make a proposition to everyone. Maybe Fate will bring you into the fold too and link our destiny as one, hmm?"

Reo pouted at the man's words. Pretending? Reo was always himself! He didn't like being called out by the man and it certainly didn't make him feel any safer. However, he did admire his mind. He was clearly a smartie pants and certainly not a scaredy cat. His left hand twitched a little harder. There would be so much to see in his grey matter! He wondered what that first cut into his cerebellum would show. What parts of his brain really made him tick. To study them, to try and find the pathways that made him, well, him.

He let go of his senbon, as requested, and pulled his hand out of his jacket. But he certainly was still prepared for trouble. He couldn't allow himself to be taken in by kind words, not again. He remembered one of the first times that had happened. He had stumbled upon a farm with a family that lived there that wasn't too much smaller than this one. They invited him in and took care of him. That night even the man and woman offered to be his new mommy and daddy! He was overjoyed. He wasted no time and immediately grabbed his scalpel and began the process of getting them ready for tea time. He didn't understand the horror on the rest of the family's faces. Oh, they were so quick to try to chase him away! All of them, rulebreakers who tried to takebacksies. His anger at them didn't stop him from crying as he washed their blood from his hands. He had thought he had finally found a new family, a new beginning. Yet so quickly it had fallen apart in ashes. He would not be fooled again.

But he did have to move forward. "I'm Reo," He mumbled, his pout still very much set upon his face. "I promise my pants won't catch fire. Only meanies lie. Unless Pap-pap says it's okay! And I'm no meanie."

He let himself enjoy the warmth of the fire. Its heat washed over him and tried to erase the tension and strain his body had been in for far too long. He didn't know how long he would enjoy it for, so every moment he intended to savor. It was as he did this, closing his eyes to slits as it enveloped him, that he really let the man's next words sink in.

Family? The word instantly transported him. Back to the lab, with his Gramps watching his work quietly, his support there like an unseen force guiding his hand. His mommy and daddy in the corner, waiting patiently for him to finish up and have tea time with them. There had never been a time he had felt more at peace. He wanted a family again. People to help turn him into the big strong boy he knew he could be! And he could make them strong too. With a simple cut, cut, cut... He could make everyone as strong as they could possibly be. A violent shiver went through him, one of pure and total anticipation.

But even before the last tremor in his body died down. Another man who had arrived late said his piece. And then another said his too. They challenged his potential new father. Demanded a reason why he should be the one they follow. Did they not know that families are always supposed to listen to their pa? But with that thought his pout turned into a frown. A single tear formed under his eye and threatened to spill out. Stupid, stupid, stupid! He was getting swept up again. All that needed to be offered was family and Reo acted like a little baby! Well, he wasn't a baby, and he wouldn't cry, and he wouldn't fall for it all over again.

Subconsciously, he wiped his palms against his jacket, as if to rub off the blood smeared upon them. The blood of the last people who offered him this. Their blood for the lies they gave him. Their blood for their mean, mean takebacksie spirit. He wanted to hit himself. He couldn't help it. The need to hammer some sense back into his brain. But he restrained himself. And listened. Listened as the conversation went on.

It wasn't until the man with dojutsu spoke that he felt himself swept up again.

“I know some of you are weary about your safety and conflicting ideas that could result from forming a group; but I am well aware of my power. If you choose to follow Kakushin. I will defend you as well as long as I breathe, and that is an oath I vow to uphold.”

And then he felt it. Chakra, wondrous, vast chakra. It rippled outward and filled the air. A sense of tension and beauty emanated from it. Its potential there, waiting to be turned into something, anything. Would it be dangerous? Would it be beautiful? Reo giggled with delight as it caught him. He clapped his hands and stared at the man. He would be a good big brother. Brothers were supposed to protect each other. They were to be strong, and just, and to be listened to! Oh yes, brothers liked to be listened to and dote on their little siblings.

Before he knew it Reo had scooched on over to him and attempted to nuzzle up against him. All thoughts of being careful utterly fell out of his head. This could be his family. He had to just let it happen.

"I want family more than anything! If big bro is in, and if father really and truly means it, I'm in. I'll be the bestest son you ever did see! I'll listen and help and eat my vegetables', and be a good boy. I promise, on Pap-paps grave I will! Just... if I'm a good boy promise me you'll give me treats! Gramps used to give me so many toys to play with. I was so good and earned them all. Every last one of them..." He let his words trail off, realizing he was talking too much. Good boys listened. He needed to show them now more than ever that he was a good boy. That he was true to his word. He didn't want to find a new family again. He was tired, so so tired of being alone. But even with that thought he looked up at his potential new brother and beamed up at him.

He could do this. He could show them he was worthy. Just like he was worthy of Gramps' legacy.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

As Kakushin listened to all around the fire voice their doubts and opinions, he understood that faith and trust was the same thing, but that it was a hard thing to gain both from individuals that barely knew one another, even more when trying to get them all to follow him. He waited for them to finish while he stared in the fire, giving a long pause before starting to speak to answer them.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 3694494846ed08cdf37259549cfe010cfe69fabb

''You are all right. This need trust, in me, but also in life. We could all go our separate ways, trying to fend off for ourselves and survive, alone, without love or support. But the truth is, we are indeed all outcasts. Lost flowers, ready to wither away. I am the father of Kintsugi, not because I can be stronger than most of you, not because of my ambitions or goals. But because I am caring about the lost and broken, and because my mind is one dedicated to the unity of the underdogs, the survival of the thrown away and the forsworn of our world. But what im asking of you is an act of faith, its true, as all my words and eloquance is the only garantee I can offer you for now, along the possibility of greatness.'' He paused, puting emphasis and weight on his words.

''Im asking you all to believe in me, in my vision of unity for us, and to believe in our linked destiny to achieve something greater than ourselves could do alone. Each and everyone of us has abilities and goals that have a slight chance of success in the world that do not want us to survive inside of it. Together, as the fingers of the same hand, we can unite in a single strong fist, solid and impervious to the societies that want to outroot us and get rid of our kind, freaks, and outcasts.'' He paused again, raising his hand slowly and closing it to make a fist.

''So would you all rather take the gamble alone, as a single finger easy to be broken and forgotten, wondering in their failure why they didnt believe in the success of Kintsugi, or would you take the risk of following me and my vision as ive taken the risk too of believing in you all, forming a strong fist, and living trough the obstacles of life, transcending morals and laws alike, attaining power and surviving against the odds? The choice is yours.'' Said Kakushin in a large speech, his voice soft and slow, deep and calm, full of assurance, and not yelling or getting caried away like so many did when proclaiming a speech. He knew this was only an act of faith for now, and asked them to have faith in him just like he had faith in them, inviting them to his abode, trusting them to not murder him even when most could.

He could prove he was a good leader, but the initial decision could only be taken by faith in his vision and himself alone, as he didnt showcase and couldnt showcase anything for now. He offered them a choice, one of great ambition and possibility, but also a dilemma. If they were to not choose him, who knows if one day the group will thrive and they will regret their choice? All and all, Kakushin was ready to make his proof as a leader, able to use his great mind to the service of the many, and his disdain for civilisation to protect and maintain those that were similar to him. As he got back toward his seat again, he was silent, listenning and watching as others were thinking, attentive to the process and the answers. As he wanted to adress the concerns, He looked toward everyone and started talking again.

''Of course, I am aware of that actions speak louder than words. I aim to prove that I am devoted to you all, and that my goal is unity of the pariahs beyond the rules of society and civilisation. As a first and small gift toward you all, accept this feast so that we may all share the basics of survival together.''
Added the senju man as he got up, whistling so a carriage got closer. As he went to it, he unvailed the content and distributed it to the others. It was food and drinks, a ton of it all, stolen in a nearby village. Like the shepard he said he was, Kakushin gave everything away, filling the belly and tastebuds of his guests, with nothing left for himself. But it didnt matter. He rejoiced in the smiles of everyone, the partake of the feast being a reason enough to make him proud and to feel like he was starting to live finally his destiny.

As he sat down and looked at the fire and the others all enjoying both food and drinks, he looked every one of them with eyes of hope, dreaming of a future better for them and him too, and a faint smile appeared on his face, the first sign of emotion Kakushin ever displayed since he met the others, his pale visage set in unemotionnal stone prior to this.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Sat Dec 23, 2023 7:20 am
Sabi, throughout the duration of the multi-faceted dialogue between each incoming "traveler" or whatever moniker they fancied henceforth, remains silent. The silence on her part is not born from the gradual increase in bodies that arrived at the campsite to indulge in their ulterior motives and aspirations for why they find themselves here at the witching hours of the night. No, this is, in fact, a habit—almost a silent ritual—Sabi partakes in whenever she comes across an unfamiliar face.

She observes them.

The way they speak; how they carry themselves; what mannerisms they display when they're comfortable or uncomfortable; and how their voice fluctuates and rises and falls with each word they say. Even should the person in question lock eyes with her, if only briefly, her gaze remains transfixed on them as though she sculpting their profile into her memory bank. She analyzes everything about them, and then, once she's done with her analysis, she stores it all away in her mind like a library. This is how she "reads" people. This is how she knows what to say and do in order to get what she wants from them. It's an ability that has served her well over the years.

She makes note of all these things between each member individually and interchangeably when traits would overlap. Yautja Kenshin, for instance, gives her the impression—aside from the foreign nature of his physiology—that he's at least cautious and well-mannered. He also speaks with purpose, given the consistency in his tonality both in conversing and in questioning. Certainly not one to be easily swayed and has a good head on his shoulders to not simply throw himself in Kakushin's direction from the flowery orations he delivers.

Then comes Witchking of Wicked Grove, Akaime. To describe his character as "intriguing" would be grossly underwhelming, but it's the only word she can think of at the moment that doesn't sound like she's trying to be poetic about it. His mannerisms are... different. Not necessarily bad, but different. He, too, speaks with purpose in the same way Kenshin does in his deliverance, yet he, also, speaks of destiny and prophecy as the vagrant kunoichi genuinely ponders what web of life she finds herself strung up in now. First, Kakushin mentions this during their first interaction with each other as though it were a natural phenomenon that occurs akin to how one breathes air.

And once more—and from a completely different source at that—Akaime makes mention of this as though the two's meeting had been planned from the get-go. While the average Joe would chalk this up as a mere coincidence that these two should meet, Sabi isn't an average Joe and knows better than to believe in such things. She's seen enough in her time as an assassin to know that coincidences are often far from it. There's always something more at play, and although the concept of destiny already sounds silly, this interaction plants the first seedling of doubt in her mind that there might be some truth to it after all.

Soon after, her ears tweak at the muffled sounds of movement that softly echo amidst the evening's ambiance. A young boy, barely emerging from his pre-teens, enters the stage and later introduces himself as Reo. When she turns to face the boy—should they make eye contact—there'd be a faint curl on her lips as she gives him a knowing smile, though not one to be taken lightly. It's a smile that says "I know what you're up to," but not in a way that's threatening or hostile. Rather, it's one of amusement and intrigue as she wonders how far he'll go with this act until Kakushin points this out as he settles in with the other four. When Reo makes mention of being a part of a family, the smile on Sabi's countenance briefly wanes before she re-collects herself.

Family. What use is there in having a family, nowadays?

The word alone leaves a bitter taste in her mouth as her eyes narrow into slits. She doesn't mean to stare at Reo for too long, but it's hard not to when he mentions that word. It's a word she'd rather not hear again for as long as she lives, yet here it is—for the second time today—and it's coming from someone who's barely old enough to know what it means. In addition to the boy's introduction, he also makes mention of being an orphan. This, too, causes her to briefly falter as she remembers the childhood that she had in the Land of Water.

Her family was never there for her when she needed them most, and they were always quick to remind her that she was only useful as long as she served a purpose for them. They never once showed any form of compassion toward her, let alone love. The only reason they kept her around was because she was useful to them. When they no longer saw use in her, they tossed her aside like garbage and left her to fend for herself. And even then, knowing this and the skepticism he holds of her with the way they eye one another, her intrigue in his character grows the more he speaks—for however endearing it is to hear him talk the way he does, his vernacular is almost endearing in its own right—she can't help but wonder if he truly believes in what he says or if this is all just an act. Nevertheless, she'll definitely extract a surplus of amusement in his company.

But this isn't about Sabi right now.

This is about Kakushin and the little speech he gave earlier and elaborates upon further later on. Sabi couldn't help but smirk as she listened to him go on and on about unity and strength in numbers. She knew exactly what he was doing. He was trying to appeal to their sense of community—to make them feel like they were part of something bigger than themselves. And she had to admit, he was doing a pretty good job of it. But Sabi also knew that there was more to this whole thing than just "unity." There was an ulterior motive behind Kakushin's words—a hidden agenda that he wasn't sharing with the rest of them. And whether such a motive exists or is an inconsequential byproduct of distrusting someone who posits lofty goals without a means to strengthen his proposal, she intended to find out what it was. One way or another.

Finally, there comes a mature-looking man in ornate robes—although tattered and weathered from his travels, to be certain—and asks the question that's been on everyone's minds since the get-go,

"'Ambitions made untested are often heard from those who fall tragedy. It's a warning though, be realistic in your approach. Not full of dreams and wishes, because in the end only if you, grow too fast do you become a target'."

Aye, and there belies the rub. The crux that dares to challenge Kakushin's self-proclamation as leader of the Kintsugi and how he intends his goals. In all fairness, outside of being wonderful eye candy for Sabi to side-eye when her train of thoughts idle, he's not exactly wrong in his assessment either. There's no denying the fact that Kakushin is an ambitious man with lofty goals, but the question is: Is he willing to go through with it and risk putting his neck on the proverbial chopping block should the latter come true? It would also stand to reason, judging from the intermittent glances Kenshin throws her way, what part she plays into all this, considering she's already been seen in his company before any of the other members arrived. She bobs her head knowingly, a smirk gracing her lips as she formulates her response.

"I'm not one for dreams or wishes, nor am I one who falls victim to tragedy. I'm a survivor—and I'll continue to survive until there's nothing left to survive for. That's what I've been doing for the past, oh what... a couple of years or so? Not exactly a glamorous lifestyle, but beggars can't be choosers, hm? Besides, Hotshot over here—ah, my tongue slipped. That'll take some getting used to. Anyway, Kaku over here's shown me enough kindness and hospitality to earn my respect and loyalty. He's got a good head on his shoulders and knows how to get shit done. I mean, have you seen all this?" She pauses, her gaze shifting from Kenshin to Kakushin before she continues and gestures to the goods, supplies, and foodstuffs toward the edges of the encampment.

"All this from a heist we pulled in some backwater hamlet all the way over yonder and on the same day we met, too. Fucked up the place pretty well, too, though I dunno if anyone survived after the fact. But, who cares? Now, is that grounds for immediate fealty? Probably not, but he could've very well killed me during those five escapades if he wanted to. And vice versa. Yet, here we are... If he thinks this is a good idea and wants to see it through, then sure, you can count me in. Just think of it: six ragtag misfits banding together for a common goal. Sounds like a storybook tale and dare I say exciting. Oh, but that's jus' my two cents on it all. It certainly beats wandering aimlessly around the world by myself with no real destination in mind." Sabi shrugs, her tone casual as she speaks, the expression on her countenance reminiscent of joy. Or perhaps of Schadenfreude from her recount of her and Kakushin's recent pilferage.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Alister glanced at the fire listening but letting the flames warm him,Similar to the brothel he came from a few days ago, his main sense of entertainment in the flesh and functions, to embrace nonchelontly through the mingling of fingers and warmth of the beating heart with soft giggles was the last solace of talking, diffrence was it was now a cold bearing in middle of nowhere with the no names along with himself speaking further of lofty tales of splendor and family.

Each spoke in term, some like the note worthy one much more accustomed to the nature spoke, then came the odd ball who seemed to be having an attatchment issue or was wrong in the head, something a woman would fix in bringing out the man in him, or at least a drink and understanding the body was fleeting. They burned so much will connecting to the note worthy one that he had to glance with the venom green eyes at the one known as reo with a layer of wonder, what would their death be like?

oh i know these types, death boumd youth running scross a batttlefield to be struck down. The brother a little sister sobs over because they acted "rash" so viberant that its not the scource of their squeals that do it, but their voidless devotion to the appearance of powwr that blinds them as they spit out blood and eyes go blank... what is that?

Alister thought as the hum of the dead whispered in his ears, faint but there and loud and clear as the others mostly spoke the chill of the ones beyond spoke to him and he silently by instinct recited a mental paryer.

by the pact eternal your lost of kin will be honored, But yoir voice may not be heard or spoken through me, State your claim and wail of concern to the bodies before you, perhaps.... ah i see. loss tragically binds thy guilt to their plight.

Alister let loose a sigh on the one talking of a hamlet heist, funny estates were calling in the speech giver and the walking liability. It let out a chuckle as he had taken in much of the speech givers words again another but now grander scale of grandious talks which only made alister now warmed up look at the group properly revealing his ryes devoid of a spark but alive well and note worthy of that. noting even the casual observer in the back and he spoke up glancing at sabi.

" To the unification despite suspicion is understandable, It keeps brigands and theives unified and this pairing although temporary..."

his gaze flickered between the tiny reo, and kakaku in the breif pause. But his voice icy as ever.

"it can be suited for many, understand your anticts and selves will need to only better steel yourselves because if aquanted as family you will only occur more heartache then peace."

he glanced at sabi and now spoke directly to them.

"Do not compromise gour life and flesh, i burried too many to know the hands of the one who decides to forgo everything for something that will not make history books and scrolls. But if it does..."

Now his glance fell to kaku and akame a small cold smile forming as tjis will resonate with all members as they he spoke up with a hint of warmth in it. For it was facts.

"My name is alister, and i emplore you to Choose which side of hisory you desire to be on. and do not empty your values carelessly... also hopefully the tiny one stops, since they took a liking to you."

alister finished as he turned from the group and gave them a simple wave.

"thank you for the fire, but i will be watching to see if this idea has any merit. do not dissappoint me, but most importantly embrace your lives and do not dissappoint each other. That will be unfortunate to watch seeing ambition in such a bubble pop."

He headed off from the site and beyond the thickets to some caves he scouted before arriving.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Kenshin watched as the child joined the group, his words still so childish and filled with a feigned innocence or perhaps a twisted innocence, one that he held onto due to whatever traumatic event had lead him to wander the world all alone, whichever the reasoning behind the child's apparent insanity, Kenshin had added him onto the potential threat alongside the devout lunatic with the glowing red eyes, those two would be his biggest threat in his attempt to escape if this scenario turned sour and with the two unstable characters that had joined, he was sure it was only a matter of time before one of them snaps. The words that were meant to reassure the doubt within Kenshin only put him further on guard, his muscles tensed as he seen and felt the display of power from the mad man, the allure of such power for protection would be greatly beneficial but should that power turn on them Kenshin couldn't be certain if any of the gathered would be capable of defeating the lone lunatic even if they had all decided to strike at him as a group, that was far too big of a risk of working with the insane, with the child Kenshin felt sure he could at least fight them off as long as he stayed on guard around the child, however if the devout follower decided Kenshin was unworthy and openly declared his intentions to kill him, Kenshin would could only hope his speed would allow him to escape, there was no victory against the man as he was now.

The Senju's words fell onto deaf ears, Kenshin had made his decision and while the promises of both protection and food were quite evident, loyalty from the group was not. The Senju had admitted to murdering his team and instructor, while the other half of the company would be unstable people, one of which processed such overwhelming power that worried Kenshin more than he'd admit, even the indifferent woman of the group finally spoke up and revealed her own twisted personality that only further drove the Yautja away, a robbery that may have killed a small settlement of people without any care in the world about their actions. His people were warriors who fought for honour and glory, hunting for worthy foes rather they be noble shinobi or devious criminals but they had refused to kill those who could not fight, they would not wipe out a settlement to gain supplies, the actions would've branded him a bad blood if he had participated in their heist and he would only bring greater shame to his family.

When the newest arrival, calling himself Alister, declared his own intentions to leave, Kenshin saw his chance to leave as well. "Your offer is kind and I thank you for it, however I'm afraid I must decline this opportunity, I fear our goals may not align and I'd wish to not prevent you or your new family from reaching your own goals." Kenshin spoke his own farewell to the group, moving to join Alister in leaving the group, moving to walk besides the man at least until they were a safe distance away from the group, only then would Kenshin bid his own farewell to the man and continue on with his own journey, opting to forgo sleep and traverse through the night in order to build distance between him and the others.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Mon Dec 25, 2023 4:40 pm
Kakushin face soured as in the middle of the feast the tall yautja warrior got up and declared he wouldnt be part of the group. He wanted to leave and even if Kakushin couldnt afford to let the information of the group forming be revealed, as well as a few unlawful confessions, he was still a man of his word. He said if anyone wanted to leave they could, but he of course also had an obligation toward his words and mentality, and anyone that left was making themselves a target, as if you arent with them, you are against them. Especially with the knowledge Kenshin now has, the senju wanted clearly to make sure this information disappeared into the grave.

As his face changed emotions and his look became one of dread, Kakushin got up in the middle of the camp, raising his arms to get silence from the sounds of discussion and feasting on the large amounts of food and drinks. As the silence was obtained, his green eyes turned red, with the sclera of his eyes turning to dark coal instead of the human normal white. Kakushin then looked into the eyes of Kenshin, and put on his decorative mask, hidding behind a glowing black and red oni mask.

"Your decisions sadden me and break my heart. These words of leaving are betrayal not only to me who welcomed you to my abode with fire, a camp and food, but also to your own destiny, bound to us wether you like it or not, and turn the joy of this evening into ashes in my mouth. But im a being of honor to my words, so if you trully want to leave you can. However, know that since you leave and betray the trust we gave you, you are leaving with information of the utmost secrecy, bott personal and greater. We will let you a period of grace of 20 days starting today, or when you exit the country. Whichever of those happen first will stop the safety I grant you to leave, and we sill hunt you to make sure our secrets are buried deep into the grave and fall into apocrypha. If you also choose before that peace delay to come back, do not worry, we will kill you without any hesitation, as you are a treat to our very family. Now leave." Said loudly the Senju man, his tone being one of an offended man, both angry with rage and sad as if he lost a brother.

The formation of Kintsugi - Page 2 Empty Re: The formation of Kintsugi

Mon Dec 25, 2023 8:39 pm
A subtle yet noticeable blush tinted over the cheeks of the Chinoike as the pinkette cuddled up against him. While the feeling was foreign, it was not completely unwarranted. A smile crept over his lips as he ran his fingers through the cherry blossom locks of the smaller individual, ruffling through his hair before his hand was placed upon Reo’s shoulder, holding him protectively. “Yes, if you are a good boy, you will get rewarded. I promise,” Akaime said in a soft tone as a gentle expression fell over his face when talking to Reo. If Reo considers him to be his big brother now, he shall be it.

As Akaime stood there, Kakushin, being 5 meters adjacent to him, began his persuasive notions over the group of doubters. Akaime listened thoroughly even though he has already decided to join this group, but the question still lingers if the others will be wanted too. The girl, rather nameless, chimed in for the first in a minute. She gave a synopsis of her history, leaving anything and everything out except that she is a survivor and her recent heist with Kakushin.

Next to talk was death itself. He spoke in a way that was almost filled with mysticism and dread, as if they coexist within his tone. To others, it could be off-putting; but, to Akaime, it drew him in. While Akaime was disappointed that Alister would not join the group right away, he did have hope that they would pass his test. He was intrigued by what Alister had to offer, ability-wise and the stories that made him him. Akaime offered a wave with his free hand in response to his kind gesture that led to his departure.

And finally, the humanoid beast gave his piece on whether he would join or not. As he thought, Kenshin declined. It was their decision to not join the group, but such decisions have lasting consequences. A murderer he once was and murderer he shall be again. Even with little information, it still could end up trickling into a larger problem in the long run. Kakushin might have let the beast go, Akaime knew this will not be the last time he and Kenshin will cross paths. The next time, it will not be under such friendly circumstances.

Such thoughts came to light through Kakushin’s voice. Standing, front and center, he ushered all those around to silence as he spoke directly to Kenshin. A tone of malice circulated through his tone as he gave a warning to the tall being. The once joyful Senju has now been replaced by a much darker temperament. The warning he gave was that Kenshin had a twenty-day grace period before the hunt began. The hunt for Kenshin. A sadistic smirk appeared over Akaime’s mouth as his old self began to relish in the fact of spilling new blood. Kenshin’s unbeknownst journey into the Wicked Grove had now made him a target. A rather unfortunate circumstance.

However, as soon as the smirk appeared, it disappeared under a soft expression as Kakushin stood there with anger pouring out of him. Akaime knew what it was like to give out kindness and acceptance to someone only for it to be thrown back in his face. It was a hurtful experience to say the least. Akaime slowly walked forward towards Kakushin, still keeping Reo close to him if he had not wandered away from Akaime, and placed a soft hand upon the man that was now considered his father.

“You have every right to be angry, Father,” he paused for a moment to look up to the taller male. “But we are here now, we are with you.” Akaime said, confirming that he has a family with Wabi, Reo, and Akaime now. “Whenever you give the word, I will bring that beast to you; so, you can deliver the final judgment for him disgracing your kindness. But for now, let’s enjoy the feast that you so graciously provided for us,” he concluded as his hand slipped from the Senju’s shoulder.

“Shall we get you something to eat?” He asked Reo if he was still standing near Akaime. Whether he responded or not, Akaime would stride over to the assortment of goods provided to him but not before turning to face Wabi. “Excuse me for my assumption, but I assume that Kakushin had helped gather this feast, which might conclude to you. If so, thank you for the provisions as well, m’lady.” He said as he bowed to presence to show gratitude before ultimately gathering foods that piqued his interest to eat.

As he ate, he sat around the fire enjoying the feast and the camaraderie that ensued. Spreading laughter and secrets to build the trust they all so desperately wanted. For the first time in years, Akaime began feeling a sense of home with these people. A feeling he thought was hiraeth but realizing it does exist. It might not be a place; yet, but it is with the people. However, a thought still presented in the back of his mind. If Reo and himself are brothers, Kakushin was father, does that make Wabi their mother or sister? Perhaps, a question for a different time.

As the night ran through, whether he slept or not, he kept a watchful gaze of his surroundings. Until the first light of dawn broke through and with that, the others' consciousness. It was the start of a new day with his family. Figuring they would not stay in this place, Akaime helped them pack whatever way he could. Gathering what he could, he would either lead them to the temple or follow Kakushin to the next destination in search of whatever he was aiming for. But before they left on their journey, Akaime gifted Kakushin 50,000 ryo in hopes he could put it to good use.

Akaime would then grab Reo’s hand to hold it with his, if he was still with them. It would notify that smaller male that Akaime was with him as well, not just Kakushin. Giving him a sense of companionship and that he was not alone. “Since we’re all family, does that mean our family name is now Kintsugi? Akaime Kintsugi? Reo Kintsugi? They do have a nice ring to it, don’t you think?” Akaime let out a chuckle as he questioned Reo. With that, the next chapter in Akaime’s life started.
