Fuinjutsu disaster

Heroshi was alive and well, he had been a part of several missions to change the view of shinobi in the eyes of the villagers. As a newly appointed genin and he was gaining more experience daily. He was becoming a ninjutsu and fuuinjutsu specialist. His father would have told one of the generals in the Hoshigakure military that Heroshi was becoming well versed in both types of jutsu. He was getting involved in more complex and dangerous missions daily.
  
               Heroshi had been invited to partake in a mission to patch up a defense matrix made up by fuuinjutsu seals. Heroshi was excited to be a part of this. He wanted to prove himself useful, so he got ready for his mission, he would get dressed in his regular attire, tan cargo shorts a loose-fitting shirt his flack jacket, and his combat boots. He couldn’t forget the Hoshigakure headband he had earned from his sensei in the genin exams. He would place it firmly and square above his eyebrows on his forehead. He would gather his pouches and weapons just in case anything went afoul on his mission. He would take the time to read the mission ledger and inquire about mission specifics. He would be delighted to know his sensei and the teenager he met at the training grounds would be accompanying him on this mission. That was exceptional for Heroshi because he could learn a lot from these two.
 
               Heroshi would travel to the district’s garden lost in deep introspection. The last time he saw Youta was when he had met him, that would be their first and last encounter. He wanted to show the teenage genin his newfound abilities and show how much he’s grown. He hoped his friend would be impressed by the child shinobi’s training. This would be Heroshi’s first mission with his sensei, he hoped he would be impressing him too, it would defeat Heroshi if his sensei was dissatisfied with his pupil’s progression. This mission just went from a simple defense matrix repair into a complex showcasing of Heroshi’s abilities in front of two shinobi whose opinions mattered to him.
 
               He would arrive and notice Youta reading a book, Heroshi would try to sneak a peek at the cover but how Youta was holding it left no room for prying eyes. Heroshi would approach and leave about five meters between the senior and himself. “Good morning, Youta, it’s good to see you again.” Heroshi would say smiling and waving at his friend. “Notice anything different about me?” He would say childishly pointing at his Hoshigakure headband placed firmly on his forehead. “How have you been, I watched your fight in the Nova exam against Madera, well, fought friend.” He would say stretching his hand out for a handshake.

Another day, and yet another noble was due for some sort of maintenance with their defensive battlements. Yamato had been about to go see the woman from the painting session when he received a mission scroll from a courier. He looked at his clock and saw that it was barely past dawn as he blinked a few times and took his time reading over the request as he made a small breakfast that would allow him to keep his energy up throughout the day. Apparently it was some sort of defensive seal that was going kaput and the village needed a few capable minds and shinobi skilled in that area to help restore the defense. At first it looked like it was just going to be an errand and he was going to deny it, but then he read who the other shinobi were that were assigned to his care; Heroshi and Youta…”Damn it Ayato…again with this…” He said to himself before finishing his meal and going to get dressed for the mission. This time he wore a training gi and was going to forgo his armor as he was in the middle of a transition, but he still packed his katana and set out for the meeting place.

He was of course the last to arrive as he looked at his juniors and gave a helpful smile for once, he showed his face, knowing that for at least Youta this was maybe the second time that his face was shown to him. “Good morning you two…so we are going to help out a Hoshigakure noble with some seals today it seems…” He stated the obvious as he was ready to get a move on.

Youta called poor Heroshi out about sneaking a peek at the cover of his book. He would let his cheeks turn rosy red and he would look down in embarrassment. “You’re right Youta, I apologize, and a book about Fuinjutsu, that’s a good idea, getting some prep work done before we head out.” Heroshi would say. Youta would pretend to not know what Heroshi was talking about when he brought up what was different. Heroshi would laugh and when Youta offered to go out and celebrate Heroshi would agree. “I think we should celebrate my advancement to Genin and your fight.” Heroshi would add with a smile. “I’m down for anything that helps us strengthen our village.” Heroshi would say, “I know these missions seem lame and unimportant, but like a puzzle, every piece is important.” He would add with his childish manner.
 
               When Yamato sensei arrived on the scene, Heroshi was pleased, it seemed like Yamato always had something new to teach the child Hoshigakure shinobi. “Hey Heroshi I do not know if you have met Yamato but he is a pretty good guy.” Youta would reveal it to Heroshi about Yamato, and Heroshi would smile and agree. “I met Yamato sensei at my genin exams. He’s checking in on me and my training since I’m not assigned to a squad.” He would inform his friend while giving him a stupid smile. “I guess it makes sense you guys know each other.”
Heroshi noticed the man that was training him and helping him to advance and he would also notice it seemed he was ready to depart. Yamato sensei was Heroshi’s example of what a shinobi is. He seemed to want to usher the younger the two younger shinobi onward onto the next part of the mission. Heroshi was noticing a common trend with his sensei. He was always late. That’s fine Heroshi would think to himself. He might be the last one here, but he’s the key to this operation. Youta and I are fine shinobi, but Yamato sensei will be crucial to getting everything done, he’s our superior and he’s older. People tend to show other older people more respect, they send two kids shinobi and no adult, and they start second guessing if we did it correctly. Heroshi would think as he started following Youta and Yamato sensei to the marble white house where Youta would stop the trio. Youta would take stock of the area and say, “We should probably make the next ones invisible and make them harder to see. But Heroshi and I did nose goes and you have to talk to the guy.” After the last part, Heroshi would fall over laughing. I can’t believe you said that Youta-san. Don’t worry about talking to the guy, I can do it if you two don’t want to.” He would say between loud laughs, Heroshi almost couldn’t control his laughter. He would count down from five and cut out the laughter entirely. “We’re on a mission, I ought to act like it. I’ll go talk to this guy, I’m the newest I should do the most, that’s what my dad would say.” Heroshi would finish as he took a few steps to the front door.
 
Heroshi knocked on the door loudly, not like bang this is the police, but defiantly loud enough that anyone inside the residence could hear it. A man in finely dressed linens and silks entered the doorway. “May I ask who’s knocking?” He would say looking down at the boy shinobi with his nose up in the air with a judgmental look on his face. “We’re the Hoshigakure the owner of this house requested to fix the security matrix.” Heroshi would say politely yet firmly trying to hold his ground knowing what would come next. “Do you have paperwork to prove your claims of being a Hoshigakure shinobi?” The man asked with a touch of condescendence in his voice. “Yeah, of course, I do, it’s right here.” Heroshi would say digging around his pockets for a slip of paper. While Heroshi was digging around a second man a little younger than the first would come to the door. “Sorry about that, this is my servant Horimasu, I’m Fujiko I own this estate. You’re here to repair my security matrix, that’s great!” He would say opening the door to welcome in his guests. “Would any of you like something to drink?” He would ask guiding his guests into the house.

He may have arrived late, but the way he conducted business within the village…has never changed. Either he hides and waits for others to arrive, or he comes around after the others gather so that he can get a clear scope of what is going on. Youta was the first to chime in about his arrival and he gave a soft smile. The burns on his body were visible on various parts of his body…the outcome of the tournament was very visible and he was just there to do as the mission commanded. Youta madea small joke before continuing on and asking him how he was, to which Yamato was about to reply…but he continued and Yamato decided to just wait for a moment to get a word in. He was appointed as the leader of the mission and then asked if he knew Heroshi, and as he finally went quiet after the questions and statements did he speak up.

“Good to see you as well Youta, I have been recovering since the tournament loss to Tsunayoshi, and yeah I was late as usual…it is how I work so I can ensure we do not get ambushed or anything like that. As for the mission, it is standard protocol to ensure the betterment of our village nobles, so I do not worry too much about it. As for Genin Heroshi…well I know him well because I was able to proctor his exam and see his potential.” Yamato said as he answered the first set of questions as they walked forward towards the mission destination. Youta exclaimed that the pair of younger shinobi did some sort of little game and decided he was the one to speak and he nodded. “Well then let’s get a move on…It would be good to get this done before the end of the day.” He finally quipped as Heroshi spoke up as well in greeting as they walked for a ways to the white marble house. That is where it was talked about making the seal a little more inconspicuous and Yamato agreed. “Normally when you do a defensive barrier it is something that one can control so it would be invisible to anyone without knowledge or without chakra enhanced vision…but let’s go talk to…” He began as Heroshi moved forward to go talk to the client and Yamato crossed his arms as he kept quiet and observed. There was a little apprehension on the receiving end, but it was easy once the master of the house arrived. So Yamato nodded and moved forward as he was eager to see what needed to be done so they could leave.

Heroshi would enter the house without hesitation, Youta didn’t seem interested in talking, only about the mission. Heroshi was trying to help get the information they needed. There was something bothering Heroshi, they were there to fix a security matrix, what had caused the old one to go off in the first place? “Sir, Fujiko, was anything taken from your home? Or did the fuuinjutsu matrix keep the intruders at bay?” Heroshi would question the lord of the house. “I’m sorry if I interrupted.” Heroshi would finish shyly. “In fact, we did have some valuables stolen, they were even able to break into the safe which is covered with a fuuinjutsu locking seal. I was going to have whoever reseal that, we are one of the eldest families in Hoshigakure, even before the zealots came to the village my family had been here for generations. We house very important historical documents in our vaults.” He would finish, and as he did so Heroshi would casually raise an eyebrow at his former to signal something bigger may be happening here. Heroshi suspected his mentor was already on top of it. He would quickly look around and try to notice if anything seemed out of place, “You need not worry, we have an active investigation going with the Hogokage and his deputy, we’ve already cleaned the place up.” The noble would tell the young snoop. Heroshi was mortified, it seemed he had been caught two times snooping. Was he a shinobi or a child, he knew he would have to sharpen up. This is the point in time he would fall back and let his senior dictate how the rest of the social call would commence. He would stand back and listen to the two men discuss the details of the rest of this mission. After the two men discussed the mission Heroshi would head back outside to find Youta reconfiguring the security matrix and would watch in awe at the expertise that was Youta’s skill.

Yamato was silent as Heroshi moved to the door and took the lead on the mission, which was entirely fine because between him and Youta he was able to watch and get some information.  One, it appears that the reason they are there is to strengthen an array to stop would be thieves…however the man that answered seemed to be perturbed very little concerning that the contents of the safe were ancient documents and such…he heard that the family was just going to let whomever do it…That was when he stepped up and decided that it was time for them to move on and get to work as Youta also entered the manor, declining a drink before going to where they needed to.  He remained quiet until Heroshi joined them and he quietly gave a pat to his young student on his back.  “Do not be so stiff, you were just doing your job as a shinobi.  These nobles are too laid back when they just got robbed considering the trove of information they apparently have.”  He said as he walked up to Youta and was examining the array as he looked at the walls and floors…it was as if there was never an issue that happened there.  Finally as he opened up his chakra network and felt the latent energy in the air he could see residual chakra that was left behind…it was not much, but it was enough to show him that the room was not secure.

“Here is how it is going to go today you two, I have an array here that I was taught by the good mad doctor of Hoshigakure…all you have to do is the following…”  He said as he ripped the parchment into three pieces.  “Youta you will take the far corner to the north of the room, Heroshi, you will take the far south side of the room and I will take the half with the safe on it.  We will utilize our chakra to draw these formations and we will meet in the middle…move whatever furniture you must to complete your section of the array, I will go over everything once you are done.  Focus your elemental chakra to  ensure that the floor is marked appropriately with a design and steady hand…last thing we want is that safe getting broken into again because of a squiggly line.”  He said with a chuckle as he went to the safe and began to work on the design.
