A Little Mischief Never Hurt Nobody (P, NK)

Okabe wasn't sure what it was Akaboshi was trying to get across. Of course the job was dangerous and hard. He would be a fool to not consider that.

"Its not like I slack off on the job. I keep up with my training and I stay in shape. I'm not afraid of injuries or really even death." He would pause for a moment to consider how to word his thoughts, "I've just seen what happens when people get too invested in their job. Everything else starts to fall to the wayside until all you're left with is your career."

He thought back to sleepless nights clutching his aching stomach. Pride in their work kept his parents from ever reaching out to anyone. They couldn't keep food on the table but they never saw a problem with it. They never considered leaving the guard to find better work. Family was secondary to them and Okabe didn't want to end up like them.

"Life can't be all about duty and responsibility. Sometimes you just need to do things for your own happiness and not worry what others would think." He would say while looking at the spray can in his hand.

Akaboshi would continue to listen attentively to Okabe's words before speaking up himself. "Oh yeah? And how's that training coming along?" The red haired Uzumaki was hoping this kid didn't just spend his time walking up against a tree or on water practicing his chakra control. Sure, those things were important as well but at the end of the day it wasn't exactly the kind of stuff that would help him in the long run. "So, are you in a team or anything? Running a little gang or something?" Akaboshi himself never experienced the whole three genin squad thing or whatever it was called, but he was aware how shinobi tend to use three man cells to form camaraderie and whatnot.

Okabi's remark of not being afraid then had the redhead chuckling for a bit. “Don't be afraid of being scared. To be afraid is a sign of common sense. Only complete idiots are not afraid of anything. But then again, you got yourself caught so you might as well be an idiot." He had to laugh about his own joke before continuing to listen. Everything the kid was saying made sense, so the redhead could understand his point of view, which left him with the urge of wanting to find out more about him. "And what exactly is it that brings you happiness? I suppose there's more than just spraying some paint?" To each their own, but Akaboshi was hoping causing mischief wasn't the only thing that interested Okabe.
