Flinching but not pulling back, Asami allowed the man to place his hand on her head. Perhaps had he held it there for more time than he did then she would have pulled away, but he did not and the warmth of the man's touch quickly left her. Indeed, soon even the man himself left her in a dazzling display of dimensional prowess that seemingly swallowed him whole.

And so, once more, Asami Miyamoto found herself alone.

The sea sloshed on either side of The Whisper, gulls called overhead, and for a long while Asami stared past the space Naoki Gekou once occupied and at the distant storm wall. It only appeared as a small black spot on the horizon, but still she could hear the distant roll of thunder and see the muted flashes of lightning as the clouds churned like some sentient being. The sight sent a shiver down her spine, which broke her from her temporary stupor—she didn't have time to stand around all day, sailing at night in unfamiliar waters was asking for trouble.

Taking hold of the familiar till and turning her back on the hypnotic wall of clouds, the wanderer of Kirigakure pulled her small vessel into a wide lazy turn. Her destination did not lie to the north, but rather to the west. With any luck, fair winds and fine water, she would make port by early dusk.
