Shotomoru vs Hayate

The good ol stat/item lock-in:

He knew the layout in his head.  It was the first thing he had went to see when he arrived, and it wasn't hard.  A nice big open circle, no tricks, just combatants and what they could do.  Hayate ran over various plans again, as he pulled the collapsable fuuma shuriken out of his scroll and attached the handle bit to his belt on the left side.  He wasn't sure exactly what the senju clan was all about - after hearing the name he tried looking them up in his jutsu encylopedia, but there wasn't much there.  He was able to gather they had a lot of chakra and favored the wood element, but beyond that - he had spent more of his time looking into the various dojutsu he had actually seen.

With his right hand, the genin tucked the scroll back in his leg pouch attached to his black combat pants.  The new armor - he even wore the sleeves despite the heat - gave him a little reassurance.  He'd have to play this carefully, but he had been trained well, so he knew victory was possible.  As the scroll was tucked away, he pulled out a shuriken, feeling the cool metal against his fingers, leaving a dark sweat patch where his thumb was.  Was he sweating already? It wasn't that hot.  Or could he actually be nervous?  It was his first REAL battle, with ninjas fighting full out against supposedly equal opponents.  he'd just have to get over it.

Regardless, the time had come.  His name was called.   The thick entryway, its frame protruding about 2 feet into the arena past the walls, opened and Hayate stepped in. The path closed behind him, an almost unreasonably heavy door - but then again, it had to withstand ninjas fighting at full force, so maybe not THAT unreasonable.   Hayate would walk out 20 meters, since his opponent was not out yet, and take a ready combat stance.  Instead of gripping the sword at his side, he would grip the fuma shuriken in his hand normally reserved for swordmanship, the weight of the item demanding it.  Unhooking it, he would bending the elbow to bring the item to head height, he would then whip his elbow downwards, safely flicking out the shuriken to full form.  And then he would wait for his opponent to enter and the start signal to be given.

Stats:

Shoto was on the way to the examination arena in a rush as he was coming back from a quick training session that he had had as he landed at the front gate of the arena. He heard his name called along with the name of another ninja he had never heard of before as he rushed into the entrance and through the long winding halls to the door that lead out onto the field of the arena. He saw his opponent already waiting for him as he took a deep breath and walked forward to his position as he was about 40 meters away from his opponent himself. Right off the bat it was no wonder to Shoto he didn't recognize the ninja as he saw that he was from the Mist village due to his attire and headband. Shoto noticed him already taking a stance, with a sword in his hand, as Shoto thought things were going to go and take off right away and he got into a stance himself.

"I'll give it my best shot."

He could feel many eyes upon the two of them as he closed his eyes for a moment to allow his breathing to normalize and his heart to slow down to calm levels as he thought of best ways to go about things. The sword in his opponent's hand made Shoto cautious. The rules had stated, after all, that you couldn't kill your opponent which is usually what the purpose of a sword was used for. It would take someone highly skilled with a blade to not deal a fatal blow haphazardly which meant more than likely this ninja was someone who was used to being around blades and possibly specialized in them. Such ninjas were known for being very strong and fast which made Shoto think very carefully about how to go about this fight. The best strategy was to keep his distance and strike from afar. He would open his eyes back up, taking note of how far away he was, as he quickly clapped his hands together to form the snake seal.

The ground beneath Shoto would shift as trees would grow around him and in front of his opponent as a few trees would form in front of him and cover him from the sights of his opponent. He would keep his hands together to form the Snake seal as the trees continued to grow upwards around him, leaves forming on the tops of them as they blocked out the sun, as for 30 meters around time seemed to act as though it was hyper accelerating as trees that would've taken years to grow formed all around almost instantaneously.

Hayate watched as his opponent, still in his waiting room, looked Hayate up and down and then did a buch of laps to gain some speed.  That was interesting.  Then he looked hayate over again thoughtfully, and the stranger decided to practice some jutsus instead of coming forward to fight.  OK.   Then the stranger looked hayate over again, disappeared for a bit, and came back with a receipt and a bundle in their hands.  Apparently after having been called to fight, they decided to go shopping instead.  That was beyond strange.  Still, Hayate waited patiently, until the opponent looked like they finally felt satisfied they had prepared perfectly and could step out of their waiting room.

The man rushed out through the protruding gateway on his side of the area, about 40 meters in, getting close to the center of the arena.    Senju took a stance and said something to reassure himself, but Hayate played it no mind.  All it meant was that the opponent was ready, and the fight was was started.

When the Senju closed his eyes Hayate would spring forward, dashing towards his target.  At the same moment he flung the fuuma shuriken he had snapped open first post with the fastest shuriken technique he knew, flowing chakra into the metal in his hands as the speed increased (116spd, 10ap).  Emptying his hands,  his right hand gripped his swords shealth, and his left its handle.  He cursed that he hadn't found the time or cash to get a second fuuma shuriken yet.  In due time....

The shuriken would take a straight flat path close to the ground, tilted forward slightly, aiming for around the ankles of the senju.

Hayate would follow as fast as he could.  The shuriken and the young mist shobi sped toward the senju who had his eyes closed while he thought about the battle possibilities, rapidly closing the distance.  The shuriken would make it 30m at that speed, to  10m away from his opponent, before the senju opened his eyes and took the ram seal.  At 158 sharpness, and with the slight tilt, it would instantly buzzsaw its way through any trees that got in its way without changing path, and the trees didn't grow fast enough compared to its speed to be able to hit it from below while growing.

Hayate followed this destruction in at 102 speed, taking deep, slow breaths.  As the trees just barely began to appear in the last 10 meters, he made sure not to get hit by or step on or trip on or leave any of the growing trees in a position to hit him, as he was much faster than their grow speed.

Shoto had his eyes closed, thinking about how to go about things, as he suddenly could hear rapid footsteps and the sound of sharp steel piercing it's way through the air as he quickly opened his eyes to see a large shuriken making it's way quickly to him from 10 meters away. Shoto was still in his normal battle stance, not yet having formed the snake seal, as he was forced to utilize another jutsu as he felt himself grow immediately faster and he thus sidestepped out of the way(Speed 105) of the Fuma Shuriken, once it got within four meters of him, to allow it to fly right by him harmlessly. He wasn't out of the woods yet, he could see, as Hayate was making a beeline for him.

Once Hayate himself was ten meters away Shoto focused his chakra into his arm as a branch began to form along it at an angle Hayate couldn't have seen. The branch would form at a speed of 55 as Shoto waited for Hayate to get closer. Once Hayate was within one meter away Shoto would then use his fully formed branch to quickly bring it forward and stab Hayate in the shoulder. The branch would have a sharpness of 55 and Shoto would be swinging it towards Hayate at top speed.

Shotomaru sidestepped a mere foot out of the way of the oncoming fuuma shuriken, and hayate also changed course, leaving the path of the shuriken on the same side shotomaru dodged to and activating his BODY IS A WEAPON jutsu with one of his deep breaths.  He unsheathed his sword, drawing it into his left hand, in preparation.

As the fuuma shuriken passed to the side of shotomaru a foot away, Hayate would trigger the explosive tag on the regular shuriken hidden underneath with the shadow shuriken jutsu.  The explosion would hit anything within a meter, (including Shotomoru at 1/3 of a meter away), with power 50, most likely singe-ing and knocking the senju unconcious.  The fuuma shuriken would absorb the damage just fine, simply being knocked off course, but the regular shuriken would explode into shrapnel in each direction (since its health was only 30), also sending metal shards into the side of the senju.  Hayate would be at least 5 meters away at this point, and have a reaction speed of 235 to dodge any shrapnel, as well as at least 100 armor on chest and arms, and a sword out to help deflect.

235 reaction speed is from 100 speed +50 speed from BIAW +25 reaction time from BIAW +60 Reaction time



(occ: I think the above ends the fight.  Should shotomoru find a way out of the explosion and shrapnel and it somehow continues:)
 Hayate would speed faster toward the target, now at a speed of 150.  As hayate's reaction speed was 235, he would see the attack as it came.  The senju's swing came forward towards hayate shoulder from the senju's right arm and right side.  Hayate, sword in left hand, would shift further to hayates right (the senjus left), aligning hayates left shoulder with the senju's left shoulder., making the stab a cross body one. As the stick crossed the senjus body for the stab,  hayate would use rupture (speed 180, sharpness 182.5) to strike the stick with his sword in a vertical strike toward the senjus left shoulder.  The sharpness would cause the stick to be demolished as it was still in front of the senju, about halfway betweenthe two, as hayate carried the swing down into the shoulder of the senju.  Should this hit, he would stop the cut so it only went two inches deep to a non vital area, but still ready to shove the sword farther in if the senju continued. should it not hit, he would release the ranged component of rupture to send a 100 sharpness wave of chakra from the blade at the senju.

Shoto, before all the events of above could take place, blinked a few times before looking to the sky and getting a sense of something. He would look to the proctor of the match and hold up his hand before him.

"I withdraw."

He would then hurry out of the arena to an unknown spot.

That was rather anti climactic after the last round of fighting, but maybe it was for the best.
