Training after Hours at the Academy

Haru had left the bounty collection office shortly after completing his last mission and headed over to the academy to get some extra training in. haru had spent a lot of time reading the jutsu encyclopedia and felt that he was close to completing a few techniques he had been working on and decided to practice a few others he had just started looking into. The academy was quite this time of day but the practice arena was usually accessible and it was common for at least two or three students to be present at all times and very occasionally a Chunin could be spotted trying something new or simply practicing their basic shuriken techniques. haru found himself a small area with a few practice dummy's he could use. recently he had been looking into learning a couple of ninjutsu and he had spent hours analyzing each jutsu's applications and whether they would suit his particular fighting style. In the end haru had decided to begin training a jutsu known as the gale palm. The wind release jutsu could be used defensively or offensively and the book even suggested that it could be used with projectiles or weapons to further enhance their speed and strength. Haru realized that the applications and versatility were exactly what he needed and could be used for devastating effect when combined with his chakra blade techniques.

Haru began by gathering chakra on the surface of skin and combining it with his wind element as he had practiced before. As his hands clapped together he released the chakra that manifested as a wall of gusting wind that cleared the sand of the arena floor in a  5 meter arc in front of Haru. haru was pleased and performed the technique several times in different directions until he stood in the center of a 5 meter radius circle of floor that was completely clear of the ever present sand. Haru tried using the technique rapidly and was impressed with the results though he knew it would use up his chakra very quickly if he used it recklessly. he pulled out the encyclopedia and studied the section regarding projectiles until he was confident he could replicate the technique correctly. It seemed to Haru that the only real difficulty would be judging the correct timing when throwing the shuriken or kunai. It took a few tries before the timing was perfect and he realized that all he really had to do was cast the shuriken upwards and use the technique when they fell into the correct angle. The young genin as several shuriken were sent hurtling between several targets at great speed, two of them had curved too far and landed in the seating area but Haru took the failure in his stride. Haru focused on manipulating his sense of time and darted towards the stand at tremendous speed whilst landing in a  crouch on the back of the seating and snatching the shuriken before springing back into the arena. Although haru was unable to see it he had left a faint after image that demonstrated that he was indeed improving his technique.

Haru decided to combine some of his training and began using the gale palm to launch several wooden planks high into the air before using Mistsinger's chain to catch them before they could fall and hit the ground. So far he had managed to capture two of the three planks before in the chains coils and he was getting closer to succeeding with every throw. he would also use the chain to bind the three planks together so that he could improve his targeting skills on moving targets and this method of training though time consuming, allowed him to experiment a lot and required a slightly different approach each time to catch the planks. though the training would drive many people mad with boredom or frustration, Haru had cultivated a vast amount of patience whilst hunting and did not consider any attempts to be failure provided that he learned from them. Haru drew the chain back into his jacket and drew the kama from its sheath before giving a few experimental swings. the weapon felt like an extension of his arm as he barely registered the weight difference compared to the other end of the chain and he compensated the amount of strength required subconsciously as he simply enjoyed the feeling the the chain moving through his fingers and the sound of the kama cutting through the air. Until now Haru had only practiced capturing the planks using the weighted end of the chain in anticipation of using the kama for a finishing blow, though this was sensible it was could become problematic for the Genin if a situation required him to forsake the kama. Haru was also toying with the idea of using the kama to hook into the opponent, strengthening the binding and perhaps allowing for a combination technique with the chakra blade to finish his opponent without having to get close enough to strike.

Haru gathered his tools and planks of wood before heading to the seating area and taking a rest to gain his breath and stretch his aching muscles. He shifted his torso slightly as he was getting used to his new flak vest and becoming accustomed to the extra weight. haru removed the flakk vest and placed it beside him as he began rummaging in his weapons pouch. Before heading to the training grounds Haru had purchased wire rolls and bandages and he took out two 1 meter long strips of bandages and cut  two sets of two meter wire. Haru began laying half of the wire against the bandages and proceeded to bandage his hands and forearms with the wire hidden underneath the bandages. Haru repeated the process with his feet and thighs. Haru tested his mobility and was please that they didn't seems to restrict him at all. he put his flak vest back on and headed back to the training area.

Haru spent the next few hours practicing various shuriken techniques whilst occasionally rotating into the more specific technique training he had started earlier leaving a gap in between to recover some of his chakra and stamina. A few hours after dark he headed home quickly over the roof tops, it wasn't the first time he had been late home and it definitely wouldn't be the last but he hated to make his mother worry too much regardless.
