A week of Speed training in the jungle Empty A week of Speed training in the jungle

Sun Dec 29, 2013 12:45 am
Day 1
Maku was still very upset with how slow he was, and new that he would have problems should he get into a dangerous situation.  Needing additional speed he set out for a week’s worth of training.  He packed enough provisions to keep himself fed and hydrated for the long endeavor, as well as some supplies to sleep out in the wilderness with.  Locking up his parent’s home he set of for the jungles of Takigakure.  Walking through the town with his heavy pack was a dull affair.  He was once again faced with the fact there were very few ninja in his village.  This always made him a little sad, because if they were attacked surely they’d be defeated quickly.  He knew his sensei was guarding the village and though that was some comfort a single ninja can only do so much.  However this week’s worth of training could not be helped; he needed this time to grow stronger.  Ad he exited the village and entered into the jungle he began to jog.

This would be his first day of training.  It would be grueling, but it was time to cover up some of his weakness with strength.  The jogging was fairly basic work, but it was the purpose of the day.  This would give him his solid base as to which build on for the entire week.  The forest floor passed slowly beneath his feet as step after step led him deeper in.  Birds and other animals watched as he came and went.  The heat from the jungle had made a small sweat break out on his forehead, but it was a good feelings.  His muscles where stretching nicely, and the jogging was doing the trick for the day.  Even though he grew weary he continued to jog for around 2 hours.  Though by the end it might be more of a shuffle.  His pack was weighing heavily on his body, and Maku decided it was time to have a little break.  During his break he had a small snack of a sandwich he had prepared, and read out of Make Out Paradise for a little while.  He had already finished the novel once, but hadn’t any money to buy the next installation in the series.  Having spent all his money earned from missions on a summoning scroll.  He hadn’t yet used any of his summonses, but was sure one day it would be useful.  After his break had concluded, Maku stood up and continued on with his jogging session.

Not many events happened during this time.  But one notable event did occur.  While jogging Maku spied a panther getting ready to eat a small pig.  Normally Maku believed in letting nature take its course.  After all Maku couldn’t be there forever little creature, and after all animals needed to eat.  But for some reason Maku felt compelled to intervene.  Pulling out his harmonica, Maku played a quick ditty that sent earthen chains spraying from the ground and capturing the panther where it stood.  Of course these chains where fake, but hey dumb animals didn’t know any different.  Walking up to where the panther stood Maku looked into its eyes, and wondered “I wonder what panthers taste like” However, probably not the best idea for the day.  Picking up the frightened pig he noticed that it was terribly scared, so much so it had its eyes closed and wouldn’t open them.  Carrying the wee feral pig, Maku began to look for its family.  Jogging through the jungle with the pig, it took several hours to find them.  This time was productive, as sprinting at full speed with a squirming piglet was pretty decent training, since the pig weighed a good 30 to 40 pounds already.  Eventually he found some wild boar that matched the skin color of the piglet he was holding.

Setting the pig down he noticed it still hadn’t opened its eyes.  Feeling a bit embarrassed Maku made some pig sounds hoping to coax the pig awake.  This didn’t work at first, but it did lure the other boar over.  This wasn’t necessarily a good thing, as apparently they thought he was trying to harm the pig.  When set upon by three adult wild boar, even a ninja knows it is probably best to just run.  Signing tiger, Maku body flickered up into a tree.  Escaping immediate danger, Maku continued his jogging through the trees.  This leaping from branch to branch could only help him.  The pack was still heavy so each jump put extra strain on his legs.  Surely this would help increase the strength in his legs which would translate into speed.  Counting the trees, Maku had leaped through 50 before he decided to take another break.  Though he didn’t have a way to figure out what time it was, he was sure it was near dinner time.  Because of that Maku decided to set up camp.  Leaping a couple more trees, Maku found a small clearing that would probably do well for camp.  The sun was setting and it made the small glade very peaceful.  It was closed off from the elements enough to prevent a cold wind, and the sky was clear promising a warm night with no rain.

Forming up camp took around 25 minutes.  Once the fire was started he cooked the remainder of his first day provisions.  Stretching out his legs, Maku knew that the first day was a success.  It wasn’t a big day of training so it was worth it.  Getting inside his tent Maku read for a bit. He knew the next 6 days where gonna be rough, as this was only the beginning to the ultimate training week.  By the end of the week, Maku hoped to be at least as fast as a quick chuunin or a slow jounin or better if possible.  Unable to sleep Maku used his temple of Nirvana technique on himself, to put himself to sleep.  As he began to drift of Maku reflected who needs medical nin when you know how to make the brain feel what you wanted it to feel.  As the final part of the jutsu set in a bad thought occurred to him, if he was in a deep sleep, Maku hoped that panther trapped earlier wouldn’t find him for revenge.

Day 2
Awakening, Maku’s first thought was that he was glad he hadn’t been eaten by pissed off panthers.  Stretching Maku walked out and rekindled his fire from the previous night.  Once the fire was going good, he cooked his breakfast.  Eating it Maku prepared for the second day of training.  This was only the second day out of 7 of training his reflexes and speed.  His legs where still sore from the previous day, after all running for hours and hours puts a certain strain on the body.  Because of that today was dedicated to quick drawing jutsu.  The purpose of today wasn’t to make his jutsu more powerful, but to enable Maku to initiate the jutsu faster.  Besides just using handsigns, Maku also practiced quick drawing his harmonica from his pack.  By pulling it quickly, and practicing playing to tune for his genjutsu he was ensuring he’d be able to use it quickly.  His weakness would be other nin who could do physical damage and fast, so by making himself fast enough to activate genjutsu before they got to close, he would hopefully be able to ensnare them.

Maku started this by working on handsigns.  From the signs of tiger to rat to dog to ram.  He threw up each sign over and over again in random progressions.  By building up muscle memory, he knew that in the future hed be able to use the signs faster.  It all came down to building up those neural pathways from the brain to the hand and back again.  This was basic biology.  Maku prided himself on his intelligence, it was because of this that he was a genjutsu specialist.  This type of training was how Maku passed, his morning.  It was probably around noon when, he was done with this training.  Fixing his lunch Maku looked around.  And before he started his next section of training another event happened.  Let’s just say the panthers were back.

Taking a bite, he spotted a pair of glowing eyes watching him.  This didn’t concern Maku at all.  The three other pairs of eyes however where a bit more disheartening.  As the panthers jumped out from the brush, Maku began running and gunning keeping himself from being mauled.  As he jumped from side to side, Maku thought maybe this was pretty good training.  However it was a bit dangerous.  Signing tiger, which kinda ironic fighting big cats, Maku flickered up into the trees.  Casting a genjutsu of acid rain, to scare of the panthers he watched them run away.  Maku wondered if this was going to become a reoccurring theme with this training mission.  Already he had two interactions with the big cats, and he was pretty sure that the original panther was among the 4 that attacked him.

As he was confident, that he was alone now he picked up his camp and put it together.  Making it packed up tightly, he began running though the jungle again.  This time as he ran he also weaved hand signs.  Not trying to cast any jutsu, it was just to practice hand signs while running.  Throwing out jutsu while running was a good technique for ninja.  After all running and throwing jutsu would keep him safer.  After practicing a couple times, he began to use jutsu.  First he used the body flicker technique.  After that he cast signs for substitution, and clone jutsu.  Overall no problems occurred.  After, being done with those, he threw the two signs for hiding like a mole, and jumped to the ground.  As he hit the ground he sank into the earth.  Underground he continued to run, this was slower going, but it was a bit of resistance training.  Running in this way for an hour he felt like he was getting a good workout.  Continuing to use hand signs under the earth he finally resurfaced.

Cracking his neck he looked around, checking for panther.  But he seemed safe, but it was also safe to say he would not be using the genjutsu to sleep tonight.  Once again it took around 20 minutes to make camp.  His dinner didn’t taste so good on the second day of training.  He was sore and tired, and wasn’t even close to being able to head back to town.  2 out of seven done though, that was a bit of progress.  Deciding to do some training before bed, he practiced jumping from the ground to a branch several meters in the air.  He performed this repetitive task around 20 times.  His thighs where burning, and he felt like he weighed several pounds more just from being so sore.

Sighing Maku knew that the next day would be awful.  When doing this kind of hardcore training, things wouldn’t start getting easier until around day 4.  While laying in his sleeping bag and staring up at the ceiling of his tent, Maku continued to practice his hand signs.  It wasn’t hard work, but necessary.  Those neural pathways weren’t going to build themselves after all.  After he had went through a bunch of these signs, as many times as he could stand he rested his arms.  Thinking of the last thing he could do before bed, he went to another training method he had done.  Focusing his chakra he put tension on his calves and thighs to work the muscles.  This was a useful way to train, since he could do it as he lay still.  The sound of monkeys chattering in the trees and birds calling were very relaxing, and made it easy to drift on to sleep.  The jungles of the Waterfall Country where beautiful in their own way, and the denizens where varied and beautiful.

Maku’s last thoughts were of other countries.  Particularly the Snow Country.  A visitor had arrived a while ago that had come from there, and looked nice enough.  Not being used to the cold he wasn’t sure if he would like it there, but it might be worth a visit eventually.  Maybe they had some different skills that they wouldn’t mind teaching him, or maybe he could help with some missions to gain some cash, and reputation.  Besides maybe it would help build an ally with the Waterfall village, and in that way he could help out his country.  The minor villages lacked ninja, so it was important that they made allies, so they could band together.  The minor villages always sat at the will of the major villages, and that needed to change, no more would they be bullied.  The snow country was a good ally to start with, but it would only be the beginning if a strong alliance was to be formed.

Day 3
Awakening, Maku was glad to not see any precocious panthers perched precariously outside his tent.  The day started off well, but he knew that his body was too sore to do much work today.  Packing up his camp for the second time on his training week, Maku went out searching for a good place to set up training.  Maku was looking for a waterfall.  Which in this country; wasn’t very hard.  After finding a large one he deposited his goods behind some rocks to keep them from getting soaked.  Removing his clothing Maku stood in the open air fully exposed.  Walking over to the water he sat on some rocks and let the water roll off his back.

The water was warm and refreshing.  Closing his eyes he let the warmth soothe his body.  He needed his strength if he was to continue his training.  Because his physical body felt so weak, Maku decided to use his genjutsu specialty to train today.  Entering into his own mind, he meditated.  Using his chakra control he let it flow throughout his body allowing himself to rest.  Maku had dowsed off and though he had not moved the sun was now high in the sky.  The warmth of the water was nice though and he felt that he had recovered a good deal of strength.  The soreness had leaked out with the flowing water as well.

Maku go dressed gathered his things and continued on running through the jungle.  He had to be getting close to getting to the borders of the country.  Knowing this he began to run in a different direction.  Looking back he noticed that something black was following him.  And 7 more black masses where following it.  Damn panther again, why just because he saved one pig he was punished for the whole week.  The cats were closing in on him.  Using his hiding like a mole technique he sank into the earth to confuse the cats.  Once he moved back a little bit, he pocked his head out.  The cats where clearly angry by the sound of all their shrieking.  They hadn’t noticed him yet and because of that Maku used his temple of nirvana skill to put all the cats to sleep.  Continuing on his jog, Maku was concerned that he might have to kill the cats, just to get them to leave him alone.  Though this would only be a last resort.

Where had the day gone?  All he had been able to accomplish was some meditation and some jogging, besides the panther patrol party.  Knowing he had to make up for some lost time, Maku was pleased to come on another large clearing.  Setting his things down Maku sprinted back and forth, across the field.  Breathing heavily, Maku continued to sprint.  This was probably as basic of training as one could do, but effective none the less.  He already felt like he was faster than he had been a few days ago.  Though he was sore, he knew that strength was already beginning to build up.  While sprinting, Maku wondered about the state of the Waterfall Village.  As a genin he wasn’t privy to much of the political information.  Hopefully he would soon be strong enough to be promoted to a chunin.  There wasn’t a lot of work to do, as a genin, besides just guarding the village.  Without a squad, there wasn’t much he could do.

After the sprints where complete he set up his camp.  Not sure what to do next, Maku rested.  Suddenly out of nowhere there were 10 panthers.  All staring daggers at him and growling.  Maku was seriously worried about getting away without killing the poor dumb animals.  As he drew his blade, he resolved himself to what he must do.  As the beasts closed in he prepared his jutsu, but just as the creatures where about to rip into him and he into them, he felt himself pulled away.  Looking around he realized he was at the coast of Kokaku-rui.  This was where he had signed his summoning contract a while bag.  Looking around there were several large crustaceans.  The biggest was the 15 foot tall Rock Lobster he had met with on the first day.  “I have summoned you little ninja, I wish you to train with us for a while.” The great creature stated.  “I wish you to have a closer bond with us, we have many prophecies and see to it we can trust our summoners, so prepare yourself for a grueling time.”  The Rock Lobster had an odd voice, but Maku was grateful, he had been saved by them summoning him here, and he had a change of scenery for training in.  “I am at your disposal let’s begin.” Maku told the creature.

They didn’t do much that first day.  After all it was late when he had been summoned.  The first training they did was all sparring.  He would come at the large creature and dodge its claws as it swung at him.  The creature was a bit slow so this wasn’t too difficult, but still a good workout.  Physically, Maku wasn’t near strong enough to hurt the creature, and his blade wasn’t even sharp enough to pierce the creature’s hard outer shell.  This made training better, as he didn’t have to hold back because he was incapable of hurting the lobster even if he wanted to with basic attacks.  They trained this way for most of the evening.  It was a good way to pass the rest of the time.  When they had finished, they had a feast of fish that hit the spot, after the small provisions he had brought for himself.  He could only look forward to tomorrow, who knew what new training methods he would perform, and how much stronger he could get.  Besides building a report with the race, which he had made a contract with could only be beneficial after all.

                Day 4
Awakening at sunrise, Maku could appreciate how beautiful the coast of Kokaku-rui was.  Fish jumped out of the water, and the sand was warm under his feet.  On this day he was set to begin his training with the crustaceans in earnest, and he intended to soak up as much as he could.  The first part of the day, he was left to his own to warm up.  Running on the beach after being used to the jungle ground was a challenge.  His feet seemed to slip and slide as he ran.  Though he was certain if he used his chakra he could make it easier to run by having him run on the surface and not let himself slide.  He had been forbidden to do so, since the extra effort to run would help strengthen his legs.  After he had finished his warm up he returned to the center of the beach where the Rock Lobster was standing.  “What is on the agenda for today?” Maku asked the large lobster.  “For starts we spar again.  Once you lay a strike and scratch my shell we will move on.” The Rock Lobster rumbled.  And with that the match began.

The lobster was slow, sure, but he was also pretty large and because of that his claws covered a lot of area.  Crash after crash the claws rained down.  Sand was flying everywhere as Maku ducked and weaved.  He had been informed not to use any jutsu and simply relay on his own speed to get the job done.  Though he wasn’t having to hard of a time, staying safe, he wasn’t getting any closer to scratching the creatures shell.  At one point he had finally broken through the defense and had laid his blade on the lobster’s belly, and had jumped back in victory.  But upon looking he realized he had to be so fast that he couldn’t put any pressure behind the blade, and because of that hadn’t made a scratch.  “Almost tiny ninja, almost, but not good enough yet.”  Rock Lobster rumbled, and with that continued to try and smash Maku.  Now that Maku had laid a blade on his shell, the attacks came faster and harder.  Maku was left to ponder, that if he was actually struck he would be hurt significantly.  Plus the Lobster had started using an ability that caused spikes to erupt from his shell, making him more dangerous.

This training went on for hours.  Maku was allowed to rest when he was to tired, but was not allowed to leave or start any new kind of training.  Finally after much effort, Maku was able to just chip a piece of a spike from the lobster.  Having completed the first phase of training Maku was left with fish to eat and time to rest before his next training session.  Once he felt he was up to it he was introduced to another denizen of the land.  A crab named Kani who was about the size of a Labrador retriever.  Kani appearantly was a specialist at slowing other ninja.  That was what he usually did when summoned, he would latch onto a ninja who would need pretty good strength to knock him off.  This was the skill that he used to assist in the training of Maku.  With Kani on his back, Maku was charged with running the length of the coast 5 times.  This didn’t seem like a lot, but the coast was approximately 2 miles long, so 10 miles with a fairly heavy crab on his back wasn’t exactly a cake walk.

While he ran Kani told him of the history of the coast.  That not many ninja had ever been there to train with them, and Maku was the first to really seem to take an interest in them.  Maku kind of liked this, for he was always looking for a way to be unique and this was a decent way to do it.  Maku was probably only running about 10 minute miles, so it was about 100 minutes before he was finished and Kani dropped off his back.  Maku watched as the crab went into the ocean and disappeared since its job was done.  The amount f pain Maku had been in a couple days ago was nothing to what it was now.  He had imagined things would get easier, but now things where worse.

Resting he was charged with one more exercise before he was permitted to go to bed.  He was charged with catching a fish with his bare hands.  Walking out onto the water Maku waited.  Several fish swam by, but Maku had to slow of a reaction time.  Finally he got lucky and was able to capture a fish.  Though he wasn’t sure if it was his skills and speed, or just a really stupid fish.  Walking back to the makeshift hut that had been prepared for him, Maku laid on the soft sand.  He wondered how long he would be trained here, and if they would teach him anything new.  Thinking that a new jutsu would be right around the corner, Maku went to sleep.  The warm sand acting as a nice heating pad for his soreness.  Maku didn’t even have time to really think much on the day’s events being so tired.  4 days had elapsed since he had set out to train, and only 3 more remained until he was ready to head back home.  These last three days, would hopefully grant him the last remaining bit of training he needed to push his body over the edge and make him stronger, and fast enough to keep up with his sensei.  A sound genjutsu specialist who is fast enough to doge and still play his instrument, a dangerous combination indeed.

                Day 5
Awakening in the heat of the coast, Maku was pleasantly pleased with how he felt.  The warm sand had done wonders for his body, which was surprising since he had assumed the sand would be to oddly shaped to provide much proper rest.  Today’s agenda was much the same as yesterday.  He awoke and was left to his own devices in the morning.  After awhile he was allowed to enter into training with the denizens of the coast again.  This time it was a simple combination of yesterday.  He was first charged with running 2 laps of the coast with Kani on his back.  He then was set to spar with Rock again, but this time he had Kani latched onto his back which slowed him down.  The Giant lobsters claws were much harder to dodge.  This was harder to do, for Kani was good at his job of slowing down ninja.  Shockingly though after only an hour Maku was able to touch the Lobster’s belly.  This earned him lunch.

He was then charged to do the training over, only this time he needed to lay another scratch on the creatures shell.  Once again the Lobster let out several spikes and Maku came at him again.  Dodging each strike Maku was able lay a scratch on the creature’s chest within 15 minutes.  Several times they repeated this exercise, until Maku was able to thoroughly dodge the blows and infiltrate under all of the lobsters blows.  Soon Maku knew he would be ready to return home, a changed person.  Gone would be the slow weakling he had started out as.  As the day moved on he gained more opponents.  Many crustaceans where now surrounding him, with Kani ever on his back.  Ducking and weaving he had to get past each one of them.  And he did exceptionally well.  Once he had finished he was charged with running laps again.  This time however he was forced to run until he couldn’t run any more.  It took many hours for this to happen and it was one of the more difficult things he had ever done.  Being forced to do an action until you physically couldn’t anymore, was awful to say the least.  With Kani on his back though at least he had someone to talk to while doing it.  Once he was finished he collapsed and wasn’t able to move.  Luckily Kani took pity on him and carried him to the hut and laid him down for the night.

                Day 6
Once again the sand had done wonders for him.  He was charged with sprinting across the coast once again.  His speed he found had massively increased.  He felt as if he was a blur as to what he was several days ago.  This coastal air was helping out for sure.  His laps across the coast were done in no time at all, even with Kani assisting in his training.  Fighting against the Rock Lobster was almost easy now, though he wasn’t sure if how hard the creature was trying.  Strike after strike he landed all while dipping and dodging the massive claws.  It was a great feeling to have this speed.  Maku continued to sprint up and down the coast afterwards.  His training had progressed rapidly.  Sprinting wasn’t really an issue any more, and he was completing the exercises faster than ever.  He was soon informed that it was time for him to leave the coast.  Maku was grateful for the time he had been allowed to spend there though; and was saddened as he was sent back the jungles.

Appearing in the jungle, Maku was pleased to see that the panthers had vanished and he wasn’t going to be having to fight them.  What he was disappointed in however was the fact that pretty much all his food had been eaten and his pack ripped to shreds.  Grabbing what could be salvaged; Maku packed up and began sprinting towards the town.  Without any provisions he couldn’t stay out any longer.   Running hard all the way back to town, he flashed between trees and across branches.  Breathing heavily he continued to sprint all the way to town, and was surprised by how many miles he put behind himself so quickly.  To continue training on the way Maku alternated between jumping from trees and to the ground to continue to strengthen his body.  All this ducking and weaving trying to keep his speed up for as long as possible.  Constantly pushing himself to run harder and jump higher, only by keeping himself going at full throttle could he increase his ability.  Accidently coming upon the panthers that had given him so many problems he simply played around with them.  He was now faster than they were and by dodging all their swipes he finally asserted his dominance and they ran away leaving him alone.

After his interaction with the panthers he continued to sprint home.  The constant running was good for his legs and he felt that he was no longer getting tired form the sprinting like he once had.  Pushing himself to run harder and harder to achieve max speed.  He knew that he was probably still only just getting to average speed for older experienced shinobi, but he was still happy.  The leaping from branch to branch was still fun and with the increased speed leaping farther and farther added to the excitement.

Maku arrived in the village just after dusk.  Walking through the village, Maku walked straight home.  He was done with training for the day.  Miles and miles of running through the jungle do that to a man.  Opening his home, and grabbing something to eat, he went to meditate.  Once again before bed he focused his chakra to put strain on his muscles.  Now that he was getting stronger he had to do more to elicit growth.  Maku planned on performing his last series of trainings the next day.  It was odd, he hadn’t expected to be home until tomorrow, and he had never expected to grow this fast in such a short period of time.  Even though tomorrow Maku planned to dedicate more of his time to developing his jutsu reaction speed, he once again practiced the necessary hand signs for his jutsu.  Reflecting on how many of his jutsu don’t really require many signs.  Because of this he practiced flashing tiger as fast as he could, like drawing a knife.  Both his body flicker and temple of nirvana jutsu used it as the sole sign.  After he felt this speed training was properly concluded he lay down for some rest on the night.

Day 7
Finally the last day of speed training, Maku thought to himself.  It was almost over, it had seemed like a long time since he had done any chakra based training, being so focused on getting his physical body up to snuff.  Today was set as to what he needed to do.  Practicing his hand signs as he walked down to the academy.  Maku was hoping to finding an old teacher to practice with and he did just that.  Him and the teacher practiced by challenging each other to seeing who could sign the fastest.  It was a fun game and passed the time quickly. Eventually it was upgraded to sprinting a distance performing certain jutsu and then sprinting back.  By the end of it Maku was starting to beat the teacher who was a chunin, so of course being a genin, Maku was proud of himself.  After about an hour of this Maku resolved himself to running laps on the track.  He was incredibly impressed to see how much his times had improved.  He was running circles around what he had done in the academy.  Which was to be excepted some seeing as that was awhile ago, though his progress had been rapid.

His sensei was a big part of that.  Though he had never said anything to Tiaga, Maku hated that the jounin could seemingly defeat him so easy.  Sure in a way it was to be expected, but it still irked him a bit.  By getting his speed up, he hoped that he would be more competitive in their sparring competitions.  And hopefully they’d be able to maybe go on a mission soon and do some real good for the village.  Finished running, Maku realized he had probably run 4 miles without even thinking.  Smiling and shaking his head, Maku couldn’t believe how fast he was.  He would have to do another week of training like this sometime soon, to make it even better.  Remembering back to one of his first training days with his sensei, he found a tall tall tree.  Using his chakra control, Maku sprinted up and down the tree several times.  Realizing this was too easy, Maku found a large waterfall outside of town.  This time, he started sprinting up and down the water fall as quickly as he could.  Chakra control and speed where key to this ability.  Everything was going well, and Maku was pleased.  The waterfall running was a good way to build up speed, as trying to run full speed straight up was a pretty big challenge.  After Maku finished doing a couple up down laps, he moved on to the last little bit of outdoor training.  He begins doing a sort of long jump training.  By sprinting as fast as he could, Maku practiced leaping into the air and seeing how far he could jump.  The ability to jump a long distance was directly related to how fast he was running.  By leaping over rivers, or just the ground, he built up pretty good strength.  Surely leaping a long distance would come in handy if ever he encountered a terrain based jutsu, as he’d be able to jump over it unharmed.  One time Maku even leaped off a waterfall just to see how far in the open space he would go.  This was an interesting feeling as it felt as if he was flying, and when he crashed into the water and looked up he noticed he had flown many meters farther than he could have imagined.  Excited by the adrenaline, Maku stood up on the water and sprinted back to and up the waterfall, just so he could repeat the experience.

Maku continued to use his handsigns to practice using jutsu after he had finished running.  Only this time he would use the jutsu as well.  Using his hand signs to send him underground, and making clones over and over again.  He also practiced drawing his harmonica and playing the song required to use his demonic illusion jutsus.  This was a bit tricky.  The quick draw of the instrument and then making the song to make the jutsu take effect was a bit complicated, and he was surprised he hadn’t really been practicing it.  Not only was this good work for combat the music was enjoyable as well.  Maku had felt his speed increase 3 fold over the course of this week.  With the sun high in the sky Maku gave himself the rest of the night off.  Perhaps he’d go and try and meet new friends or find his sensei and try and learn something from him.  Or maybe even just read a god book at home.  Whatever his plans, once he got home and sat for a moment he was instantly asleep and the rest of the day was dedicated for sleep.
