The Letting Go

Drip. Drip. When did the sharp pang turn into a dull ache and once more into a faint echo? Drip. Drip. When did the sharp image get so hazy? Drip. Drip. The heat from the natural spring water rose up in steady billows of steam to collect and fall back into the would-be still water. Every detail of the wall directly in front of her was analyzed at least three times at this point but, no matter how hard she tried she couldn't remember the day when the memory of Souji ceased to hurt. He was a part of a relic of a world that should have never been - why she got so sidetracked in the first place was easy enough to answer; loneliness. Her hatred of the village system burned - but the sense of family and security of community dowsed those flames.

Leave it to the system to burn through even those once safe walls of found family, having extended herself past her borders in an effort to help - she burst her own bubble. Sunagakure was a beautiful lie that existed untouched; now it was rotted just like every other village. If there is an ‘other’ to be viewed then unification would be impossible - Satori no sekai would be out of reach for all of them. Heaving a heavy sigh she sink under the surface and release the air from her lungs to watch the bubbles rush up, surfacing when the water was once still. Black hair clung to her shoulders as she settled her head back against the rocks, the next thoughts like an accusation to god. Drip. Drip. I’m alive, I’m revived, I survived, you surprised? Drip.
