A drop of sweat fell to the dirt. Ever so slightly, Cyrus's shadow began to expand. "Yes!" he exclaimed, but his excitement was quickly turned to disappointment, as his shadow shrunk back to normal size. The young ninja had been working on this jutsu for days now, and still hadn't quite gotten the hang of it. Someone had told Cyrus about the Sunagakure Training Grounds recently, and apparently they were optimized for growth, so, this morning, he gathered his supplies and headed out to test those words.

The Shadow Possession Jutsu; it's the most basic jutsu in the Nara clan's repertoire, but also the most versatile. This jutsu was the first that Cyrus had set his mind on learning, so this whole training process as a whole was a bit new to him. He felt as if he had almost gotten it to click previously, so he returned to his brute force method of trying to push his shadow outwards. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle; his shadow continued to writhe and pulsate ever so slightly, barely discernible to the human eye. Every muscle in the young boy's body felt like it was being flexed, and he balled up his fists as he tried to gather the chakra necessary for this technique. Push, push, push; just as Cyrus felt as if something was beginning to happen, he collapsed backwards in exhaustion and fell to the ground. While he laid in the sand, gathering his breath, Cyrus began to think that he might need to try a different approach.

Sharp winds cut through the air, blowing the pages on Cyrus' book. "Shit," he muttered. After flipping back to the first page of his reading material, he continued. "Throughout the history of the Nara clan, the Shadow Possession Jutsu has been..." Cyrus promptly closed the book. He had never been much of a reader. Although the traditional approach might not have been working for him, he was sure that there was something better than brute force. Sighing deeply, the boy sat down and began to think. Cyrus' parents weren't ninjas, so all of the information he had on his clan's jutsu were based on textbooks and hearsay. If he could get in contact with a real Nara Shinobi to get training from, he knew that he could progress quickly. Nevertheless, he decided that meditation was his best option after ruling out the other methods.

While standing up and molding his chakra, Cyrus began to visualize darkness; then, he pictured the darkness changing shape, contorting upon itself, bending and writhing, and, most importantly, growing. A feeling had begun to stir within Cyrus, it felt different from before, so he continued channeling his chakra. All of the sudden, it felt as if a valve of energy had been released, and Cyrus opened his eyes. His shadow, previously less than ten feet in length, now reached a tree nearly ten meters in front of them. Relief, joy and satisfaction filled the young boy, and, after the difficulty he had been through, he collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.

For next time, don't forget to state the total amount of wc you're putting into things to make calculations easier on our end and if it's had WC put into it in the past, link that in the claims as well
