It's Coming Home Empty It's Coming Home

Sun Jul 18, 2021 9:19 am
It's Coming Home 4cc529512a413b6bd802856aab4510ca

The Akimichi was ready for home. The lightning country had a unique smell to it, a refreshing, earthy smell graced with the aroma of mild lavender, coupled with a tint of leaf. It was a unique smell, one that the Akimich had grown quite fond of during his absence. Today appeared to be a quite day for the village, the path leading up to the gates was almost completely clear, not a soul in sight aside from the guards stationed at the gate.

As the Akimichi neared the gate, his smile grew wider and wider as he planned his route through the village in the hope of eating all of his favourite dishes before returning home. Just as he finished formulating his plan, he reached into his money pouch heaving a sigh of displeasure. The travel supplies he procured had drained his coffers. “Well… I was looking forward to mums cooking.” he muttered under his breath as he continued along the path.

Today, Gin looked different. Throughout his travel, he had to ration his supplies, a concept that was foreign to the Akimichi. Due to the rate at which his body consumed calories, he had lot a considerable amount of weight during his journey. At this stage, he appeared to be a skinny, 6ft 3 giant wearing an orange jumpsuit that thankfully adjusted in size based on his body shape with the Kumogakure headband strapped firmly against his left bicep.

He was armed to the teeth as a means of deterring onlooking thieves and bandits. He had 2 weapon pouches strapped to either side of his waist, a crystal singing katana held against his left with the thinnest piece of cloth, just enough to hold the blade in place. Two large Fuma Shuriken were attached to his back in their open form. He held a bag of chips in his left hand, chilly flavour to be precise.

As he entered the 15 meter range of the gates he raised his free hand, waving at the guards who immediately went on the defensive despite Gins Kumogakure headband. Naturally, no one outside of his parents had ever seen him in this shrunken state so it made sense that he wouldn’t be recognised. Gins eyes briefly widened as he looked between the group of guards while a cheesy grin came across his face. “What’s wrong?” he called out obliviously.

Clenching his lean, now chiselled jaw, he couldn’t help but observe the growing presence of Shinobi at the gates. Some of the new arrivals were moving so fast that even the rapid Akimichi had trouble tracking them accurately. Gin continued to wave, now quite anxiously as he called out, “It’s okay… it’s me… Gin… I’m aer— gen… I mean, Chuunin, I guess… Right?” he was very hesitant pointing to his forehead protector while taking small pauses between words. One guard turned to the other querying with a “You know a Gin?”, the other tentatively responded with “He’s the one that went to Heaven with Lord Raikage. But— he can’t be this guy, you should’ve seen him, the Gin kid was built like a bus. A tubby fellow, nothing like this guy… I mean. He’s wearing the same clothes so…” the 2nd guard paused before ending his blather with “And the Raikage isn’t with him now…”

In response to the information offered by the 2nd guard, the first called out to the Akimichi, “We don’t know what you did  to our Shinobi, but while you’re dressed like him, the Gin we know was er—… on a healthier side. But rest assured, you will pay for your transgressions if you have harmed our kinsman.” The guard paused, gesturing to Gin armaments before continuing with “Now. Calmly surrender your weapons.”

Gin observed the ordeal with a blank facial expression, he looked down at himself muttering, “But I’m… me?” suddenly as the Akimichis attention had shifted a guard used the opportunity to dash towards the young man swiftly closing the now 10 meter gap. As the guard dashed forward the Akimichi raised the bag of chips over his head, scoffing the remainder of the pack in one attempt before dashing the packaging to one side.

“There’s no need to do this, I surrender.” he called out with his mouth stuffed full with chips. As he concluded his sentence, he raised both arms into the air.

It's Coming Home Empty Re: It's Coming Home

Sun Jul 18, 2021 12:32 pm
Once pitch black, just missing the gleam of a natural tar pit, his armor was now coated in a layer of grime from all the dust, sand, dirt and even snow the ninja had walked through just to make it back home. Surely, the Kumogakure would be able to invest in some form of transportation for its higher officers… not that he was a lazy bastard, however, the time he did lose in moving about in this manner, and the economical dent it put on the village, would be offset magnificently by having a proper network of transport that he could make use of for these scenarios.

At the very least, his nose was clearing up, rather than one nostril or the other feeling stoppered as a sake bottle, he could now breathe clearly the fresh air that the mountainous country offered freely. The corruption left on this land by the infamous Youka -- a name he would refuse to let rest in peace, lest they forget the errors of the past -- had been largely banished onto the deepest and darkest recesses of the earth where they belonged, and had allowed the land to heal naturally. Within the past half year, the Lightning Country was starting to look just like any other country, and Youka’s actions would be nothing but memories, living on within cautionary tales and historical accounts.

The mountains, which could be seen reaching for the skies even before entering the Lightning Country, were a sight for sore eyes. Sore, for now. Having learned the secrets of the Sharingan, from its most basic mechanic to the memory defying promise of the Sage of the Ten Paths, Kaito felt his left eye would stop being sore very soon, as long as he could count on his dear friend Ichigo Sato. How long until he could see him, see his villagers, drink some sake in the Drunken Kage, surrounded by familiar and violent faces, daring to fight him for the sake of a good hurt? He had to contain his thoughts lest Ryuuzaki, his shadow, sensed the swelling emotion within him.
***

“That is quite enough”, ressounded a voice high and clear across the rotund space outside the gates. The call out gave pause to the guards who froze in their tracks before they managed to rush the tall man before them. Lord Kiseragi Onomori looked at the man, trying to recall details from his time spent with the genin in the Kage’s office. Being a sensory expert, he could definitely say the chakra was not entirely foreign. “You, boy”, he called out, his voice booming yet controlled, “why are you not travelling with the Kage?” Kiseragi kept his eyes on the lad, while the guards at the sides clutched kunai in their hands. Behind them, a figure in a golden hat and white robe approached in stern steps.
***

It wasn’t long until the two embarked on their journey through the Sky Bridge, one had to take the time to appreciate the mansory of the stone. Within less than an hour, they managed to reach the peak, where gigantic Thunderbirds carved out of the mountain peered down onto the Heavenly Gates, eternally vigilant to the events that could unfold. There, in the middle of the rotund avenue that led to the gates, someone stood their ground, and Kaito enabled his Byakugan to take a closer look at the familiar orange tracksuit of the tall man in the middle of the open space. “Hey, Ryuzaki, look who beat us here.” Kaito was positively surprised, considering he thought he would have to circle back to pick him up. “He lost quite a bit of weight”, he said. He heard a call out, as if there was trouble, however they were still too far to hear it, and only Kaito’s Byakugan -- and possibly Ryuuzaki’s -- would lend them an inkling of what was happening. Kiseragi Onomori, the Deputy Raikage, had joined the scene. “Why can’t anyone just approach the gates calmly”, he inquired in exasperation at the thought of fresh blood on the recently constructed porticus. He got within range of Kiseragi’s last question, at least. “That is a good question indeed”, said Kaito, his voice booming across the plaza as head’s now turned to see the Raikage, golden pyramidical hat, white robes, dark armor, and slightly pissed off if the tone of his voice was anything to go by. He approached the situation, where he could now feel Gin’s chakra signature. He had spent enough time around the lad to know he was who he said he was. He walked up to him, noticing he had managed to drop his chips in his panic. It was confirmed: the man before him was the most powerful genin in the world. Well, ex-genin. “This here is Gin Akimichi of the Kumogakure, who left a Genin and returned a Chunin. So, which one of you wants to doubt that I too am the Raikage? It has been a very peaceful travel, I’m spoiling for a fight.”

It's Coming Home Empty Re: It's Coming Home

Ryuzaki allowed himself a slight smile as they approached the sky bridge. The group that set out from Kumo those many months ago would finally return home, if not altogether. The traveling through the various countries had in total taken 4 months, the major locations including Hoshi and Suna. The newly appointed shadow of the Raikage had gone to Hoshi to participate in the chunin exams and find a good fight to test his abilities. That fight was found and his abilities were tested and he was found wanting. After his exit from the chunin exams, he was then targeted by an assassin which he dealt with fast but was close to losing his life. Luckily for him Ryu's standing was reignited in the Raikages eyes and he was promoted to chunin nonetheless.

As a newly promoted Chunin Ryu allowed himself to plot his next move up the ladder towards his next goal. Ryu would approach the Raikage in am ore official manner when they returned to the village proper. but before then he allowed his byakugan to flare on to do a final check around them before they approached the village gates. As he did so he noticed that the 11th Raikage also had his byakugan activated. At the gates ahead he saw a situation unfolding. Gin was at the gates with a pair of guards and Kiseragi, them an who was in the Raikage's office the day they were invited to join the chunin exams, the man that occupied the position Ryu always dreamed of holding.

Although Ryu was the placeholder bodyguard of the Raikage, he followed behind him a few paces, knowing that anyone who attacked them would not find the reader incapable of destroying them completely. "It appears the least likely competitor has returned the conquerer, My lord" Ryu said with a wider smile on his face, happy that a Kumo entrant had been the winner, happier that overall Gin had managed to accomplish what he had not. As the pair reached the other group Ryu would allow the greetings to be had and then walk up to Gin and extend his fist in a closed fistbump "Good to see you".

It's Coming Home Empty Re: It's Coming Home

Suddenly the approaching guard froze at the sound of a voice that was quite unfamiliar to the Akimichi. He arched he brow as his eyes darted to the source of the sound only to find the man that stood firm behind the Raikage when he selected the Chuunin Representatives for the Village. Sweat began building on the Akimichis forehead, but just as his lips parted, a question permeated the silence before being chased by a the sound of a voice that sent chills down the Akimichis spine.

He froze, his underarms beginning to sweat, his forehead dripping as attention shifted to the Raikage. His pyramidical hat, white robe and dark armor were iconic, Gin was a big fan of the attire. Maybe he too would some day come to wear parts of it. As the Raikage continued to approach Gin felt and overwhelming sense of dread as he had indeed travelled from the Heaven Country on his lonesome as opposed to waiting on the Raikage and Ryu.

But before long, the overwhelming fear subsided as the Raikage addressed the crowd, confirming Gins identity to the guards before challenging them to doubt the Raikages own identity. Naturally, the guards gave off a series of awkward smiles and laughs one of them going as far as to say, “Welcome back Lord Raikage.”

The combination of fear, panic and the likes made the Akimichi ever so hungry, so much so that he mustered up every ounce of courage to address the Raikage. “Nice to see you both but er— Raikage-sama, may I be excused? … I’m er…” an audible growl escaping his stomach. If he were to be be excused by the Raikage, he would dash past the guards at the speed of 150 in the direction of his families abode in an effort to arrive just in time for dinner.

“Go on”, said Kaito, dismissing Gin. “You too, Ryuuzaki. You’re dismissed for now. Enjoy your next couple days, they’re yours to do as you wish.” Kaito stayed for a second as Kiseragi closed the distance between the two while Kaito admired the masonry of the gates and Thunderbirds. “Beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?” Strong, was his first impression. “Yeah”, he agreed, instead. “A sight for sore eyes.”

“So, what’s the village been up to?” He broke into stride, and Kiseragi fell along into the pace, informing Kaito in a quiet, hush tone of what had transpired in his absence.

It's Coming Home Empty Re: It's Coming Home

Ryu returned gin's greeting but paused as he spoke, he seemed to be in a rush. Ryu then bowed to the former Raikage and the current Raikage as he dismissed him. Ryu would enjoy the next few days of rest after the constant travel of the past few months, the one day off he had was interrupted at the start of it by an assassin, so he hoped that would not happen on the following day.

The current and former leaders of the village began to speak to each other and Ryu paused for a second his mouth beginning to open, but he then decided this was not the right time to broach his current agenda. After all the Raikage deserved some reprieve as well. Ryu turned on his heels and strode towards the village gates. He allowed the sense of relief to wash over him as he entered through the gates, he was home.

Ryu made his way to Jack's home country bbq and enjoyed his favorite meal, he accompanied it with a few beers. Drinking was something that Ryu had just been introduced to but was becoming a favorite pastime of his. After a few hours, he left the village's gates and traveled back to his home in the mountains. When he arrived back he was greeted by an extremely hyperactive and happy Taco the dog. The dog required no human to look after him, but he was still a loyal pet. Ryu spent a couple of hours with his father's loyal dog and then started to pack up his belongings. Ryu decided it was time to move out of his father's remote cabin and into the village he wanted to belong to. He would become a citizen of Kumo properly now and not just a ninja that worked for the village. Ryu would take the next few days to complete his move to the village, he found a halfway house to stay in as he searched for a more permanent residence.
