Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Spoiler:

Sukotto drew a kunai from his pouch, then pushed it back down. It wasn't like him to fidget, but he couldn't help but feel nervous right now. Up until this point he had never really felt threatened in his life. Growing up on the streets as he had, he had faced countless life or death situations, but none felt as real. Back then it was just a question of food and shelter, now someone was going to actively try to kill him, it was no longer just the whims of a cruel world, but his death was by design.

He read through his mission dossier one more time. Today he was to proceed to the bloodworks and take part in a fight. He wasn't sure if he had done something to warrant this, whether it was a rite of passage for Suna shinobi, or if he had pissed someone off, but today he had to fight for his life. Today it was kill or be killed. Sukotto briefly wondered whether the opponent felt as he did, if they had that same nervous energy running through them. He also wondered if they would hesitate, if maybe they wouldn't want to strike a killing blow. Not that he was worried about it, he had been killing things since the age of eleven. Rarely a person when it wasn't absolutely necessary, but he never saw much of a difference outside of societal norms. People always made such a fuss about the killing of a person, then would turn around and eat meat, but it was all the same to him. He had to drink the blood of others, and if that turned out to be a human's or an animal's blood it really made little difference aside from the possible consequences.

Tossing the mission scroll into his weapon's pouch strapped to his right leg, he approached the bloodworks. People milled about, but the majority of those around were streaming into the colosseum for entertainment. To see if he would live or die. The idea of it sickened him. The fact that someone would die here today, whether he fell or his opponent did, those watching saw it as entertainment. Sukotto needed blood to survive, but he never reveled in it. He would never choose to watch someone be killed for the simple joy of it. Death was never to be enjoyed, it was simply the end result of one's life. It was not something to be sought after, it was just the consequence of life. All things must end.

He pushed his way through the throng of people and reported in. After speaking to a receptionist he made his way over to the private waiting room for contestants. He hadn't received any information about his opponent. He didn't know if he was facing another shinobi, or how skilled they might be. Hell he had never even entered the colosseum before now. Aside from the fact he had to participate he didn't know a damn thing about what would happen next. His opponent could be a child for all he knew, though he seriously hoped people didn't pay to see shit like that. He had also heard of people squaring off against beasts. For all he knew he was going to walk into the arena and find himself facing off against a pack of coyotes, or some savage animal from a foreign land. He doubted it though, deep down he chose to believe that this was a test from his village. A test to see if he had what it took to continue to be a shinobi of Suna.

After what felt like an eternity, a woman stepped into his room and motioned for him to follow. He considered asking her questions, but decided it was a moot point. He was about to put his life on the line, and nothing he gleaned from this exchange would change that. He followed the woman to a large pair of double doors which opened moments later.

Sukotto walked across the sand into the arena, the sun glaring down upon him. With the barrier, it really wasn't that hot, but the atmosphere made it feel hotter than it was. As he walked, he tossed his hat to the side, he certainly didn't need that big ass thing blocking his vision in the fight to come. He wore the traditional clothing he wore for missions, a sand colored long sleeve shirt and pants to help him blend in, his headband on his brow, holding his unruly white hair back and out of his violet eyes.

He heard the cheers of the crowd as he walked, but he worked to tune it out. He didn't care about them, he wasn't here for them. He had one objective today, and that was to survive this ordeal. He had never given a damn what others thought about him, and certainly wasn't going to care now. He reached the center of the arena, and cracked his neck. His senses on high alert as he waited to find out just what he would be facing.

Arthur Hyuuga:
Pic:

While the fighters at the bloodworks waited for their match, they possessed a space underneath the stands of the arena. Arthur took a final drag of a cigarette and using his index finger and thumb flicked it against the wall. Arthur was dressed in a pair of leather trousers and a simple cloth shirt, he wore sandals strapped around his feet. Around his waist. but under the lining of the shirt, he wore hung several throwable ninja weapons. On his back, there was a scabbard for a longsword. The man's face was slightly dirty and worn but you could tell that he was an attractive man underneath it all. He had sandy blonde hair that was messy but short.

Arthur made his way through the hallways of the arena until he was faced by an iron gate that barred people from entering the arena floor of the bloodwork. He nodded to the man on the side to open it. Arthur was a regular at the arena, something of a starter act. He mostly won his fights but they were never particularly interesting so he still only opened up the cards of the day. As the gate opened he strode out into the arena, his nonchalant gait not giving off the usual buzz that might fill such a space when one of the contestants was about to fight. A few of the crowd cheered meagerly but mostly the crowd did not interact with the walkout of Arthur. One or two fans even started to boo and throw their half-empty containers into the bloodwork.

Arthur bent his knees and lowered his centre of gravity towards the floor so he could scoop at a handful of sand and he began to rub it between his fingers, making his hands dirtier than when he had started. The floor of the arena itself was 100m in diameter and had an oval shape, there were no obstructions in the arena itself and it was filled with sand. Some sections of the sand were darker than others, where large amounts of blood had been spilt. A cheeky smile crept across Arthur's face as he called out to his opponent "Alright there mate, how the diddly are ya?". Arthur had walked up 30m from his entrance and stood 70m from the opposing entrance, where his opponent had entered. The low ranked fighter waited for his opponent to reply, or perhaps start the fight with no interaction at all.

Sukotto watched as the other fighter entered the arena from the opposite side and walked toward him. As he approached the man bent down and rubbed sand into his hands. That coupled with the hilt that protruded above one shoulder seemed like a clear indication that this man planned to use a weapon of some kind in combat. He hadn't really considered the idea of using sand to dry out ones hands and ensure a rough surface to maintain a grip, but it made sense in retrospect. Sukotto had never really been very keen on the use of weapons, or at least hadn't paid it special attention, so he wasn't particularly surprised it hadn't previously occurred to him.

His opponent came to a stop twenty meters from him and spoke. Sukotto was surprised by the words, primarily because they were so conversational. The nervous energy that coursed through him didn't appear to be affecting his opponent. He seemed calm and collected, like he had been here countless times. It appeared as if this was just a normal day to him, while to Sukotto it was anything but normal. He kept any emotion from leaking into his voice, "Not too bad. Always a pleasant day in Suna after all."

He waited, unsure what would happen next. Whether he was supposed to just start, or if there was some sort of announcement that the fight should start. He was dimly aware of shouts from the audience, and while he was ignoring them for the most part, he had noticed that people were shouting at them to start. Taking that as a cue that there wouldn't be any official announcement to begin, he decided to get things underway. "It would seem the crowd is ready for us to get this started. I would wish you luck, but that would be a little counterproductive, you know?"

Without another word, Sukotto began to form hand seals at speed 105, Tiger - Snake - Dragon. As he finished the final seal of his water clone jutsu, two jets of water shot out of his mouth, forming into two perfect clones of himself. The first appeared a meter to his left, the other a meter to his right. They immediately spread out, the one to his left moving a meter forward toward his opponent, while the other moved further to his right, stopping about five meters from him. While this was happening, Sukotto never let his eyes leave his opponent watching and waiting to react to anything that he might do.

Sukotto was wary of making the first move, having no idea what kind of skills or abilities he was bringing to the table, so he opted to be slightly cautious and wait to see how he would respond. The energy in him wasn't going to let him wait long though, if his opponent didn't engage, he would have no choice but to make the first strike. His body wouldn't let him stand still for long.

To Arthur's surprise, the road of the crowd began to pick up, his fights usually did not get this attention. Was it because there was fresh meat gracing the sands? Normally it would be Arthur and one of the other preliminary opponents and it gave off a more staged, professional wrestling vibe. There was rarely death during those matches, and if there was it was due to an accident instead of actual intent. This brought a smile to Arthur's face as he replied to his opponent, who had begun to weave handseals at a rapid pace "Right you are, ahh I see you're bringing some of your chums to play".

Arthur blinked, and the veins in the side of his head bulged and became more prominent as his bloodline appeared, the Byakugan activated. Arthur's right hand moved towards his sword, it rested on the grip of the sword as he turned to his right and began moving at full speed in a loop towards the clone. He ran in an opposite arc to that of the water clone who was closing distance with him, in an attempt to gain distance between him and the clone, but also close in on the actual target. Arthur watched for any change in the movement of the three clones, his vision being able to watch them even at the strangest of angles.

Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Re: Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Sukotto watched as his opponenet took off at high speeds. He couldn't be sure, but he estimated his opponent had a slight edge on speed, at least if he was moving at full speed. If he was holding anything back at the moment then he could very well be vastly faster then Sukotto. The clone that was two meters away on his left, made little in the way of overt movements, simply adjusting its position to stay between the opponent and Sukotto. Its only real purpose was to serve as a means of slowing the opponent down if necessary. The other clone  who was five meters to his right, pulled two kunai from its pouch, ready to throw them should it find an opening, or simply as a means of distraction it if was deemed necessary.

Sukotto kept his eyes trained on his opponent ready to dodge any possible projectiles and move if necessary as he began to form a quick set of seals at speed 105, Snake - Tiger - Ram ending as he clapped his hands together completing the ninjutsu enhancement jutsu. He immediatly followed this up with an additional set of handseals, Ox → Monkey → Hare → Rat → Boar and clapped his hands again, completing the water dragon bullet jutsu.

Expelling a massive amount of water from his mouth, it quckly took shape, the immense form of a 24 meter long dragon rising up from Sukotto's location and then launching forward toward his opponenet. If his opponenet hadn't yet engaged his clone, the dragon would blast straight through the clone that was between him and his opponent as it rushed forward at 120 speed intent to smash through the swordsman. As it reached the swordsman, the titanic jaws of the four meter long head would bite into his opponent dealing samage as the powerful fluid creature engulfed him.

Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Re: Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Tue Jun 01, 2021 4:01 am
Arthur had made a total of two strides before his opponent began to act. 'Was it Ninjutsu? Why is it always Ninjutsu' The thought raced through Arthur's head. He was not a trained ninja, but he knew a few ninjutsu so that he could counter fighters in the bloodwork that use it. Most of the time he faced other mercenaries like him that preferred weaponry combat and these ninjas were always so hard to deal with.

Arthurs's hand retreated from his sword as he flung himself down to the ground, at this point his opponent had completed his second set of handseals. Even though there was a water clone between them Arthur could still see due to his byakugan. There was now 6m between the pair, with one water clone between them and the water dragon rising up to its height of 24m. As Arthur hit the ground he activated his hiding in earth jutsu and began to sink into the ground. Although his jutsu was slower than his opponent he would sink into the ground quicker than when it reached him, due to his close proximity to the ground and how far the mouth of the dragon would have to travel.

As the water dragon bullet blasted through Sukottos clone, he was finishing his merging with the ground beneath him. The water dragon bullet would then harmlessly hit the ground either where he was or continue to sail straight past, depending on how his opponent reacted to his attempt to dodge. Arthur would travel 5m down and then position himself below the trio or pair of Sukotto's depending on how the tactic had played out. Arthur would then watch for a few seconds to see where the trio/pair would position themselves. Using the ability to sense through the hiding like a mole jutsu, Arthur would rise 4m away from any of the Sukotto's and where they were not facing, or if they had taken positioning to avoid this, where the east of them was looking. As Arthur's torso was free of the ground he would draw his sword "Hello there mateys". As soon as the sword was drawn he would swing it diagonally across his body at the trio/pair. The edge of the blade would start to shine and extend as he swung the sword, attempting to sweep across the waistlines of his opponents, he would watch for them to move, aiming to readjust his wing if necessary.

Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Re: Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Tue Jun 01, 2021 2:27 pm
Sukotto watched his dragon slam through the position that his opponent had been in, and continue forward, eventually impacting the far wall. He wasn't sure what had happened or where the swordsman had gone. He quickly took a survey of his surroundings. He knew the man hadn't jumped out of the way, as he would have seen him. He also couldn't have avoided it by simply running backwards or it would have eventually run into him.

After a few seconds, he felt the man approaching. He had somehow gotten within ten meters of Sukotto undetected, but thanks to the heightened sense of his blood, he could feel his heartbeat. He quickly spun in the direction his opponent was coming from, but saw nothing. Focusing on the heartbeat, he realized it was coming from below. The swordsman was moving much slower then he had above ground, so Sukotto positioned himself on one side of the man, his clone who had originally been much slower then him, now moving faster than his opponent, placed himself on the opposite side. The two were now ten meters apart, and moved with their opponent to keep him between them. While he did this, he let the water dragon jutsu fade, with his opponent underground, he didn't see how it would be useful to him and felt no reason to expend additional energy on the jutsu.

Sukotto formed seals in preparation for his opponent to breach the surface. He wasn't sure what he might be capable of from down there, so he remained wary as he kept him between himself and the clone. Eventually the swordsman breached the surface, facing his clone. The clone immediately launched its two kunai at the swordsman, though they were not particularly fast, moving at a speed of 28. The top half of his opponent had already exited the ground and performed a blazing fast sword strike ripping through the kunai and the clone.

While his opponent was still coming out of the ground, Sukotto released the jutsu he had prepared, exploding water colliding wave. Massive 20 meter tall waves moving at a speed of 65 came crashing down on the opponent just as he finished cutting through his clone. The titanic power of the waves ripping him out of the ground and carrying him within their roiling waters. The turbulent waves of the jutsu would grab hold of the swordsmen lashing him about as he was crushed by the force of the water.

Arthur watched as the pair separated themselves and positioned to ambush him. However, due to his byakugan, he was able to adjust his plan. He still exited the ground but instead of facing the clone, he was facing the original Sukotto. As the man launched his jutsu and the clone threw his kunai Arthur continued with unsheathing his sword and activating his jutsu. However, the target was now the original Sukotto and his water wave. Arthur slashed downward at a 12 to 6 arc and cut the wave as it rose up to its height of 20m and surged forward. The water wave parted under the sword strike and created a 2m diameter gap up to the range of 30m and would harmlessly roll past him.

Arthur was able to attempt to attack the necessary target but left himself open to the attack of the clone. The two kunai were thrown at a slow speed and power but impacted Arthur none less, the kunai was embedded into his chest but did not sink in enough to do any serious damage. Arthur winced at the pain but it was nothing he had not experienced before. He had countless scars across his body and these wounds would likely be just two more. However, he was beginning to suspect that he was up against a foe that should be higher on the docket than this fight, he might end up losing the fight, and ultimately his life if the man was so inclined. Arthur was now completely out of the ground and back on his feet.

Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Re: Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Sukotto released his jutsu as his opponent exited the ground, annoyed that the man had chosen correctly and was facing toward him. It was then that he noticed his eyes, and wanted to kick himself. His opponent was a god damn Hyuuga. No wonder his attempts at subterfuge had failed. This mother fucker could see through all of it. Hell, almost everything he had done in this fight till now had been trying to conceal his movements with his clones, either by hiding behind them, or more recently using one to hopefully confuse his opponent so he would make a mistake and target the clone. With his jutsu complete he took off at a run to his left, running across his waves. Unlike the swordsmen, he couldn't see through his own waves, and his opponent could, which meant that if the waves didn't crush him, he would have no vision on his opponent yet his opponent would be able to see him clearly.

He spotted the arcing wave as it passed behind him, splitting his jutsu in twain, leaving a gap in his waves. He honestly hadn't known something like that was possible. His jutsu created continuous waves, and somehow this man had literally cut through a section of it, stopping the water completely, leaving his area protected. He let the jutsu fall away, the twenty foot tall waves falling to the earth, covering the ground in water. Even with the dry sandy ground, standing water was still evident due to the large amount of water he had summoned.

"You are a god damned Hyuuga! Shit. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to only realize that this far into a fight. Every thing I have done has been totally wasted." He sighed, and glared at the man as if it was somehow his fault. Up until now Sukotto had been too damn stiff, and not himself. He wasn't the serious no nonsense kind of guy. He was the screwball, and even while he tried so hard to not let the tension of this situation get to him, it had gotten to him, and he hadn't even noticed. He watched his opponent, who he could see now that he had released his jutsu, ready to move at a moment's notice. Yet instead of launching an attack of some kind against the man, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. Taking in a long drag. He waved his hand at the giant pool of water, as if he was offended by it, "And what the hell was that giant cut thing? You shouldn't." He took another drag, "I didn't know people could cut through shit like that."

Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter] Empty Re: Mission: Bloodworks Pit Dog [D-Rank Hunter]

Wed Jun 02, 2021 6:46 am
Arthur twirled his blade as the water that had parted fell to the ground a meter to either side of him. Arthur smiled as his opponent apparently was now getting into the fight, this crowd expected a narrative to the fights. It was one of the reasons that he was able to fight for so long without being that skilled, he was able to sell the show to the fans. "Hyuuga, what a pile of shit. I'm the son of some ninja and a prostitute, discarded at birth. Left to grow up in this world designed for ninja" Clearly the mention of the clan had hit a sore spot for Arthur, but his face changed again, back to the cheeky smile "Well shit, no chance you want to stand here and fight like the gladiators we are supposed to be" Arthur pointed his blade down to the ground in front of him.

The pair were now 5m apart, a range that probably benefitted Arthur more than his opponent, who appeared to be a mid-range fighter so far. Arthur stuck two of his fingers through the rings at the end of the kunai embedded into his chest "Why are you buying time, to build up your chakra?". Arthur asked, but it was rhetorical. Arthur flung the pair of kunai at his opponent, evenly spread out 6 inches. Aimed at the center of his chest as the middle point between his two kunai. Arthur dropped his center of gravity, his knees bent and he dropped his shoulder as he rushed forward and tried to close the gap between the two. Arthur moved at full speed and closed the gap his sword flashed from its resting position in a horizontal slice attempting to cut the man from hip to shoulder. From Arthurs left to right.
