Fishing Tournament Sign UPS! Empty Fishing Tournament Sign UPS!

Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:30 pm
The Land of Rivers was well known for its beauty. Streams that evolved into massive flows of majestic water, trees that silhouetted roads and villages alike, it truly was a place of nature. It was in this place that another tourney was about to begin. Icarus Ryoshi made his way down the grand staircase that led to his office at the very top, eyes full of joy and excitement. A ninja in his youth, he’d built his own small fortune performing missions, but it had never been his true calling.

Now, in this place his passions could flow like the rivers that surrounded him. The tournament had enjoyed several years of success, but for the first time he’d sent out the invitation to the great Shinobi villages as well. An olive branch extended to perhaps bring a little good into the world.

With rooms booked up, from the cheap to the top top, he saw as throngs of people began to arrive. Checking in, and making their way to their rooms where they would soon find the rules of the tournament. It was tempting, but he almost grabbed his own rod and reel to join them. Instead, he set himself at the registration table and waited to spot the next great angler.

(This thread functions as your entrance post. Please simply make a 250 word minimum post detailing your arrival to the land of river, perhaps why you have come to participate, and bonus points for anything else you’d like to detail such as the room you could afford, or your feelings being away from your village. If you would like to interact with others you may, but please remember it is a simple introduction, so keep it brief and easy unless you want to split to a new thread)

The land of rivers truly lived up to its name. Flowing water as far as the eye could see surrounded by beautiful greenery. Eliwood was in awe of what he was seeing. The desert he was wandering previously had its charms, but the display of nature before him was unmatched.

With a beaming smile on his face the monk sauntered into town, where he noticed a flyer for an upcoming fishing tournament. He wasn't much for competitions but he was certain it would be a way to meet interesting people. He noted the location and was about to set off when he saw that there was an entrance fee. He opened up his satchel and rummaged through for all the loose change he could find. There wasn't much, only 500 ryo, but he was positive he could make the most of it.

With change in hand he headed to the country club in question and shortly thereafter, arrived at his destination. The country club was enormous to the monk who was used to the humble fire temple he originated from. Inside he met a man name Icarus who helped Eliwood get set up. Icarus shared stories of his time as a ninja and told him about some of the largest fish he had caught over the years. Eliwood was fascinated by the man's storytelling and wholeheartedly listened to all of what he was told. It made him want to give fishing a try!

With a newfound excitement he headed towards the bait shop to get geared up.

Fishing Tournament Sign UPS! Empty Re: Fishing Tournament Sign UPS!

.....sigh.......what a day it had been. Setting down the last box filled to the brim with vegetables Maku would wipe his brown the end of his left sleeve. Blue eyes gazed out over the kitchen that he’d taken to working in the last couple days. It was nicer than his own, appliances more up to date, cleaner, and the folks here were better trained. Hard to deny it, but still they were people for a career, not the joy. You could see it in their eyes, and for that reason he’d always prefer his own Chortling Chunin crowd.

It was pure happenstance, but the trip here had all worked out for the better. Wanting to expand his own culinary empire, he’d looked towards the smaller lands. Opting to stay away from any of the larger Shinobi villages. He’d been quite for a couple years now, but he doubted old times left that quick. It was the price of an S rank criminal, but you always ended up looking over your shoulder.

When he took these mundane jobs however, people didn’t seem to give much of a look. Though he’d have to be careful it didn’t turn from mundane to a name anytime soon.

In his correspondence with the Land of Rivers Country Club, he’d secured not only an interview and discussion with their head chef, but also been able to pull off catering the local fishing tournament. He hadn’t discussed it yet, but ultimately he was hoping to purchase the kitchen portion and take it over. Two restaurants, the starting of a business.

Pointing and waving he’d show his fellow CC chefs where there rooms where as well as where they could find him. The work was done for the day, prepping as much as could be done for the banquet the next day. Seeing the sign in sheet he couldn’t resist, though the name he wrote down was “Hikigaeru Taki”, one couldn’t be to careful after all. Whistling he’d make his way out to enjoy the land of rivers view on the lake.

For a small task for the kind elderly couple in his street, Kaito had managed to get some additional funds that would allow him to fund the trip and a cheap room at the Tsuri no kantorīkurabu, a famed country club in the Land of Rivers. Truth be told Kaito himself was more of a man of cured meats, but life a soldier, a chef shouldn’t have favorite dishes to cook, lest they limit themselves culinarily and become useless in the kitchen.

The entire trip had been wonderful so far. Kaito had travelled very few times due to the nature of the warring world, and each time he was surprised. The Land of Rivers was a lush vista, and the sounds of running water lulled the former-chef into a state of peace, making him doze off twice in his trip. Already at the country club, he hid his confusion to maintain his confident facade, trying to figure where to buy his pole and bait. He couldn’t afford the expensive bait box, but he could manage the standard pole. It would have to do for this week’s fishing competition.

He went for the club’s reception to he directed to his room; his heart almost dropped to the floor as the fee for the cheapest room almost depleted all his funds. “Maybe I’ll be able to fish my own dinner, either that or I’ll starve.” The room was a tiny thing, with a set of blankets on the floor that would be his bed for the night. He put the rucksack with his spare clothes on the floor, and took in the musty stench of the windowless room. In such a beautiful country, a singular dank room was enough to bring his mood sinking into the floor. “Maybe one day things will be different.”

He made his way back into the open, following the indications that lead into the open river, and where he’d be able to do some fishing. Once outside, he looked into the blue skies, and silently prayed. “Please give me something big that I can roast over a fire, scrubbed in rock salt and crunches black peppers, with slices of lemon stuffed into its sides, snuggling with branches of dried rosemary.” As he thought of this, his mouth watered, and his belly rumbled. He looked through his wallet. “I got to have enough for at least a rice bread bun.”

He had the weirdest damn dream the night prior.

He’d dreamed he had been in Moon Country, MOON Country, of all places. Attacking some weird mutant, human, thing with too many heads and arms. The thing had been running away from three people and had been doing something before he attacked. His attack would’ve killed the man. Then however the stupid thing called a ‘time out’ of all things and started complaining about how he himself didn’t know the ‘rules of engagement’ or how his chakra was supposed to work. It was absolutely insane, and completely ridiculous. Then however, Calin woke up, confused and deciding that he would be best to move on. He would hope that it wasn’t some kind of strange sign of his mental state.

Something had to go right for him right?

When he awoke this morning though he did not expect to come across a fishing tournament in the Land of Rivers. He began to consider joining, and didn't simply pass the idea up as he had initially considered. It might be entertaining, and relaxing. Besides, he was a mercenary, and you never knew what kind of people one might meet in such a place. He might find a client, or learn something. So he shrugged, strode up to the registration counter and signed up. There was a list of rooms to choose from and he chose one of the more luxurious ones. If he were to potentially meet a client, then having a room that showed he was well off would show he got a lot of work done. It would be a good impression, and that was what mattered. He proceeded to move along, following signs to the bait shop.

Fishing Tournament Sign UPS! Empty Re: Fishing Tournament Sign UPS!

The Onyx carriage finally arrives on the open scene, its black sheen shines with the sun’s rays. It was as if a stallion, a wild mustang, was announcing its presence. It glided ever so smoothly along the road with its grand wide black wheels. Truly an object of great proportion and value, its proud frame eclipsed al others that passed by. Its gold trim, although a little gaudy, managed to keep its appeal more enticing with each of the six strong thoroughbreds pulling the carriage towards the Inn our capitalist planned on staying. The driver, riding on top, manages to pull the carriage up to the entrance of the hotel, not too far from the door as he did not want to block the door. He leaves just enough room for the workers to begin unloading the luggage from the back of the carriage. They knew all too well than to simply stare at the elegant carriage glass eyed, no, they were too seasoned. When someone like that arrives with such transportation, it meant today their usual tips will double with firm bills. The fishing tournament brought quite a few interesting people.

Finally, the firm door on the Onyx carriage is open by the driver, revealing its plush red leather interior. It really popped with the exterior design. Ganki steps outside of the carriage, is dark blades brown hair sways with the wind. He takes a glance downwards towards the curious passing crowd, his dark blue shades slide slightly, revealing his own piercing blue eyes. They lock on to the few curious women among the crowd, he winks at them merely out of habit. Truly, it was like cracking your knuckles before your next sparring match; you just simply had to do it.

“Hey, Benji, make sure you get more than two room keys, Kay?…, he clicks his tongue shortly after towards them as he and his driver made their way into the hotel. His mentality will always be what it is.

Alter tipping the help, now inside the lavish hotel, Ganki made his way to his driver for advice on fishing, who was indeed hired to aid him in his fishing trip. He knew more about fishing than Ganki ever did. Ganki; fishing experience was really next to none, he grew up in the cloud village, way above sea level, or any other nearby lakes. But, he didn’t come here to win, he came here simply to enjoy himself and everything this village had to offer.

Ganki looks around the grand hall curiously “Hmm, I hope this place lives up to its reviews. So yeah, Benji, when you get us a room, make sure it aint one of those basic two beds to a room models. I need something a little more than um, working class, ok?”
