Patrol Duty!
Spoiler:

Sakaiza had been reflecting on his mission that he had done the previous night. He had been slightly in shock, reflecting on how the mission had went down. He wondered if there was an alternative outcome to the one that occurred last night. Perhaps he should have just stunned the man then subdued him. But Sakaiza did not think that his palms technique would be lethal to the man. The last thing that he had been prepared for was one of the men dying. But in all honestly, it seemed like there was no other way to go about the situation. The man had come at Sakaiza with a clear intent to kill him, the way the shovel was oriented and the speed he had been swinging it, if Sakaiza had not acted he easily would have been a goner. The only option Sakaiza really had was to paralyze him. From paralysis, he had to counter with an attack. If he were to use any other of his  jutsu, they either would not be effective enough or would definitely be lethal. A tenketsu needle would have just locked one of the man's tenketsu, which would still give him the opportunity to strike Sakaiza after he regained his motion. His vacuum palm already had proven to be too strong against the man. At that point blank range, Sakaiza would have blown a hole in the man's torso. The only other option was the sixty four palms rather than the one hundred twenty eight palms. It likely wouldn't have been enough to stop the man, for he seemed to recover quick. Therefore, the only option was the more advanced version of that jutsu. But it was a death move. Sakaiza could have held back his chakra flow, intensity and speed yet in the heat of the battle, the only thing that had been upon his mind was surviving.

As he continued to analyze the situation, he sat upon one of the village walls. Due to his success in his mission the previous day, authorities from the sand village extended an offer to Sakaiza. They said that he could participate in assisting them with their patrol of the village walls today. Due to the fact that there was an obvious breach in Sunagakure's defenses the previous day, they were instructed to "tighten up their shit and prevent something like this from happening in the future". Therefore, they wanted to start off the next day on the right foot. They figured with Sakaiza's Byakugan, he would be able to see anything out of the ordinary occurring. They were correct, Sakaiza's kekkei genkai would definitely allow him to do this. But, his mind had been elsewhere currently. It was the first shinobi he had killed, but a part of him felt good about it. That same part of him felt as if the man deserved it. He had obviously been a former shinobi of the sand, and yet he turned back upon his village. Even worse, he tried to use those that had died to protect the village, to destroy it. There was no worse scum in the world than his kind. Someone who was brought up by a group, turned his back on that group and sought to destroy the very same family that made him who he was. Perhaps he had his own reasons that he felt were justified, but they would not be sympathized by Sakaiza. No, his actions were heinous and treacherous. And so, Sakaiza had shown him no quarter.

Upon awhile of thinking, Sakaiza finally came to the conclusion that he was only thinking about this all because he had blood on his hands. The death was justified. It was just the fact that he had a life on his hands that resonated with him. But Sakaiza couldn't focus on this too much. If he let himself live in the past, he would be unable to move on. Thus, he had to preserve and look pass the incident from last night. There was only one thing that Sakaiza should be focusing on right now and that was the defense of the village walls. He was on patrol. He was entrusted to monitor the surveillance of the village and that's just what he was going to do. He had been assigned to watch a portion of the wall positioned at the rear of the village. It was essentially the village's blind spot. There was no better place to position someone with three hundred sixty degrees of vision than the back of the village. To the officials in charge, it seemed like the most beneficial thing since it was so difficult to seek foreigners coming in from the back. But to Sakaiza, it seemed as if he had been given the short end of the stick.

Absolutely nothing was going on. The most action that Sakaiza had seen since his shift began bright and early at 8 in the morning was a colony of giant ants battle a colony of three tailed sand scorpions. It was actually quite interested. The ants seemed to outnumber the scorpions and thus had the number game on their side, but you couldn't rule out the classic underdogs from winning. The scorpions had the firepower with their three venomous tails puncturing an enemy from whichever direction they came in. It was quite the sight to Sakaiza, especially on the slight occasions when he would see a scorpion vice grip an ant in place then stab it with each of its own deadly, poisonous tails. But it all seemed to slow down in pace when the ants somehow picked up the victory. They seemed to just swarm the scorpions with their sheer numbers and then essentially jump them. It was quite the brutal fight, leaving many insects dead upon the barren sand. Those that survived would either flee the scene and hope to not be pursued by the other, or would simply continue their forward progress as if nothing actually happened. It had then clicked to Sakaiza, what he had done the night before was simply just a part of life. By killing that shinobi with evil intentions, Sakaiza in turn saved many lives of the Sand Village. He had heard their plans last night. They wanted to revitalize the dead kazekages and then use them to invade the hidden Sand village. From there, they spoke of monstrous acts. They would kill, rape and pillage, all thanks to the former protectors of the village. Sakaiza was now glad that he killed the man. He knew that he had deserved it. He knew that it was necessary. And most importantly, he knew that he would do it again if he got the chance.

Continuing with his deep thoughts, Sakaiza was interrupted by an approaching shinobi.

"What are you doing?" he asked Sakaiza. Sakaiza was clearly just sitting upon the edge of the village walls dangling his feet from above. He had been just looking around for the last several hours and saw no signs of change. So he replied with a sort of dim - witted response.

"Nothing much, you?"

The shinobi seemed rather annoyed with Sakaiza's degree of relaxation. Sakaiza was too easygoing, he had really just been chilling since his shift started while other shinobi seemed to take every sign of movement as a potential enemy attack. Perhaps they were on edge because they knew they fucked up the day before and they needed to cover their asses now. Or perhaps they were always this uneasy.

"Well you're supposed to be doing something much. We're going to be rotating shifts in a couple of minutes so you're going to be assigned to watch the front perimeter and exterior of the walls. I suggest you get ready." the shinobi said. As he finished he continued walking along the wall to inform the other shinobi on duty to prepare for a shift change. But Sakaiza just waved him off. He wasn't too concerned with a shift change, for he felt that not much would actually change if he had been watching the front of the walls now.

Sakaiza brought himself to his feet and looked out in the distance. He spat, watching the ball of his saliva fall all the way to the bottom of the wall until it plopped onto the ground. That might have just been the highlight of his shift. As he stood, he noticed that yet another shinobi was approaching him. Figuring that must be the person who was taking on his current post, Sakaiza began to walk towards the front of the walls. Doing so, he passed roughly eight other established posts on the way. Judging solely off the amount of guards there were today, Sakaiza could tell that the sand village was intending to improve upon their defenses. Each post seemed to have a watchman, who was looking out into the distance ominous and reporting their findings to another shinobi who stood close by, waiting to act. Sakaiza could already tell from the general trend what his post would be like. When he would finally make it to the front of the main gates, he see there was already a shinobi posted up waiting for his watchman. Sakaiza was his watchman.

"Sup? I'm Sakaiza" he said with his veins obviously bulging from the sides of his head indicating that his Byakugan was active.

"You were supposed to be here a minute ago." the shinobi said while tossing a kunai and catching it by the blade end each time. Sakaiza didn't know if this was supposed to be the tough guy act or if this was his favorite pass time. Either way, he didn't scare Sakaiza. He was just another shinobi stuck with doing the same patrol task that Sakaiza had been assigned.

"Yeah, I guess I was."

Noting the degree of carelessness in Sakaiza's voice and response, the shinobi ceased flipping his kunai. He stood up and looked right into Sakaiza's eyes. "So how good are those eyes of yours?"

"I can see about a mile out in front of me right now, and everything else going on around me. So if anyone were to try anything, I'd know." Sakaiza almost spat out in the same tone he had seen Salzem do so to him. It was effective, it really established one's dominance over another. And in this case, it seemed to work too.

The shinobi seemed to just nod, spit on the floor beside him then turn around. "So take your post then, tell me what you see."

Sakaiza continued forward and stood next to the man. He was as a hawk is above an entire forest. He eyes shifted, panning around from one area to the next. As he analyzed each area and reported the activity within that area to the other shinobi, the shinobi would nod and give Sakaiza the okay to move on to the next portion. However, when Sakaiza's eyes fell upon the northwestern area of the desert in front of them, an anomaly was quite evident.

"There seems to be a bird flying towards the village. Too large to be a messenger bird but too small to be anything jutsu related. Nothing like anything I've ever seen here before. It kind of looks like an owl, but it's yellow. It's face is a bit different and it seems to be gliding slowly in circles, almost as if it's collecting information on the village from afar."

Hearing this description, the shinobi asked Sakaiza to describe it in further detail. So Sakaiza did. He analyzed the bird from the tip of its head all the way down to its talons. And for sure enough, it matched the identity of a creature that had been flying around Sunagakure the day before. He explained the situation to Sakaiza, stating that they linked connection between the grave robbers Sakaiza had stopped the night before to an organization that they were likely a part of. Apparently, that group was notorious for using birds of that appearance. They were useful for their generally innocent appearances and graceful, unnoticeable flight patterns. The shinobi nodded and sent a unit out to investigate. This process of Sakaiza locating things and the shinobi reacting would continue for hours, until the shinobi finally told Sakaiza he could go home. He gave Sakaiza his pay and sent him on his way.

Wasting no time, Sakaiza walked down the wall of the village gate and set for his way home. He was slightly disappointed with the lack of excitement today's mission had in comparison to yesterday's but he was also slightly satisfied that more information on the shinobi he ran into the night before was found. Perhaps they would get to the bottom of this. But then again, perhaps not.
