Maya Learns something new! (Solo Training) Empty Maya Learns something new! (Solo Training)

Wed May 01, 2013 8:33 pm
Maya Misaka walked down the streets of Tenkagure, a spring clear in her step. She was exited to finally be a student of the Ninja academy, and after seeing people preform feats of wonder as demonstrations, She was determined to master these herself. She had learned from one of the demonstrators a basic healing technique. For some reason, this technique interested her more than anything else she'd seen that day. She supposed she wanted to help people, or maybe she just wanted to be the most important member of her ninja team, once she was assigned one. It could have been either one.

Either way, she was more exited then anything to try this new technique out. Unfortunately, she had to work for a few hours tonight, to earn her family what money she could. As she reached the building, she wondered if she could manage to practice the technique while she was working. She stepped into the restaurant, which was busy as usual. It was rush hour, after all. The academy students were all heading home, and this place was a very popular destination for students after a long day at school. A few students glanced over, and recognized her. They waved her over, exited at having someone else to talk to, but Maya just shook her head sadly, gesturing to the counter. They just stared at her, confused. She sighed, walking behind the counter, and through the door.

Several moments later, she stepped out in her waitress uniform, and her fellow students began giggling and pointing at her. She made a gesture with her hands that would make her mother slap her, and headed towards a table that needed service. She wrote down their orders, and headed back to the counter, placing the order form on the wire in front of the chef, who acknowledged her with a quick nod. She stood behind the counter, closing her eyes, when the shop owner's dog approached her, whimpering quietly. The little terrier had injured her foot, it was bruised, and bent at a strange angle. Indeed, the poor dog was walking with a limp, and trying it's hardest to hide the wound. Maya tutted quietly, before something clicked in her mind. It was the perfect opportunity to set out her newly learned Medical Ninjutsu. She bent over slowly, patting the dog's head. She then lifted her hand slowly, staring at it for a few seconds, trying to make her chakra for to her hand. After what seemed like an eternity, a faint green glow appeared from her hand. She yelped excitedly, for this was exactly what had happened when the Medical-Nin had shown her the technique.

She looked back at the dog, who was now laying on the floor behind the counter without complaint. Quizzically, Maya poked the wound with her hand. The dog whimpered slightly, but the bruise faded a little. Maya grinned, and looked over her shoulder. No one was waiting yet. In fact, no one had noticed her, crouched under the counter. She turned back to the dog, rubbing the wound softly. The bruise faded slowly, though the paw did not regain it's usual shape. She sighed, looking back to her hand. She didn't seem to have enough chakra. She stared hard at her hand, focusing with all her might, trying to filter more chakra into the technique. She suddenly felt very weak in every part of her body, except her hand, which was glowing stronger then ever, though still dimly. She slowly reached out for the dog's paw once more, rubbing it again. The wound would slowly but surely start to bend itself back into place.

"You're not focusing your chakra correctly." Came a voice. startled, Maya looked over her shoulder, and saw a boy who looked several years older then her, with brown hair, grey eyes, and a matching grey sweatshirt. Around his neck, he sported a Tenkagure headband. (Indirect Reference!)
"What?" she asked sweetly, trying to hide the malice in her voice that came from anger from being corrected. "You're trying too hard." Continued the boy, gesturing to his hand. "Chakra flows freely, smoothly. Forcing it to go somewhere just messes with your entire chakra system's flow." He explained. He reached over to her hand, grabbing it suddenly, which caused Maya to start, and as she prepared to hit him, he jabbed a spot on her wrist, and she felt a rush of chakra.

"What... What did you just do?" She asked in awe, staring at her hand.
"Unblocked your chakra network. You'd clogged it by forcing too much at once. Try healing the dog again." Said the boy, pointing to the small canine, still lying on wait for more of her healing powers.
"Alright..." She said, touching the little dog's paw again. Instantly, it began bending back into place. Slowly, the dog's paw started to bed back to it's original position.

Maya yelped quietly, partly in surprise, and partly in joy. The dog's bone eventually reached its original position. Maya cheered, and the dog looked up, confused and relieved from the quick ceasing of the pain. Maya looked up at the boy thankfully, hoping to give him a proper thanks for his help, but the boy was gone. She stood up, looking around, but there was no sign of the boy. She stood up, checking if he'd sat at one of the tables, but there was no sign of him. She ran to the door, checking the streets, but there was no hints as to his whereabouts. Confused, Maya simply shrugged, assuming he had somewhere to be. He had a Tenkagure headband, after all, so maybe he was needed at an important mission. Still, it had been pretty rude to up and leave like that without even saying goodbye. She walked back to the counter, and saw a family wave to her. She walked quickly over, and started tending the tables, taking orders from the customers.

Maya Learns something new! (Solo Training) Empty Re: Maya Learns something new! (Solo Training)

Maya walked across the diner, two platters of food in hand, setting them down at a table, smiling at the customers. It was a busy day at the restaurant, and Maya was working doubt time to wait all of the tables, since the other two waitresses were out celebrating a birthday. What a great day to be alone. The manager was pitching in, as was whatever other staff they could spare, but they still struggled to keep up with the flow of orders.

Maya struggled to slip past a clot that had formed in the middle of the walkway, separating her from the counter, where the food platters were piling up quickly. These people just wouldn't move, no matter what Maya said, they wouldn't budge. Muttering curses under her breath in frustration, she climbed up onto one of the booths, causing the family sitting in it to shout in confusion. Waving at them, and smiling pleasantly, Maya placed her foot on the wall, walking straight up the wall, and onto the ceiling. It was a neat trick she'd learned at the academy, a technique she was quite fond of. As she walked across the ceiling casually, waving at them. Many people gasped and pointed at her, others, generally the ones sporting Tenkagure headbands, simply chuckled.

Dropping down behind the counter, Maya landed neatly on her feet, doing a small curtsey, before turning and grabbing a few extra plates. The manager waded through the crowd to approach her.
"Maya! Do that again! The customers love it!" He shouted, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"Do we really need more customers right now?" Asked Maya, gesturing to the masses of people.
"You might just get a better tip out of it..." Said the manager, and that was it for Maya. She needed money badly. She stepped back up the wall, turning her hands awkwardly so that the platters didn't fall. Stepping over to the tables, she dropped the platters down onto the tables of a group of girls. Onlookers stared at her in awe, as she made a second round for more plates.

The day carried on like this, Maya received huge tips from dumbstruck customers, who promised to tell their friends about this restaurant. Slowly, the diner cleared out, and closing time came.
"Great job, Maya. You've earned this store a lot of respect today. Here." Said the manager, handing her a fat sack of Ryo. She accepted it gladly, starting to head home. It seemed like it had been a great opportunity to train her techniques, as well as make a lot of money. She'd have to do this more often. As she walked home, she saw her sister, Jovi, charging towards her. Smiling, she ran towards her, as Jovi jumped into her arms. She loved her little sister more then life itself, the bond they shared was more then just sisterhood. As such, Jovi was one of the only people that could make Maya show her true colors.

"Maya! Maya! Do you wanna play hide and seek with me and my friends?" Asked Jovi, pointing to her friends, who lingered in the distance, unsure of how to approach.
"I'd love to, Jovi, but I have to train." Answered Maya softly.
"Just train while we're playing! You can climb trees and stuff, it's okay!" Answered Jovi, pulling Maya's arm. Maya sighed, and stood for a moment, thinking about whether or not to go, before finally giving in, and stepping foreword.
"Let's go, then." Answered Maya, following Jovi.
