A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training] Empty A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training]

Sun Apr 15, 2012 12:28 am
((Chakra Training))

Raiden walked quietly in the forest. He carefully watched each step to avoid any traps set by other hunters. His bow carefully tied to the quiver on his back. Raiden looked up at the sound of chirping. He found a few birds building a nest together on a branch that was about 20 feet higher than where he was standing. "Hmmmm I could use the practice." Raiden said as he untied his bow and drew a single arrow from his quiver. He nocked the arrow to the string of the bow and drew back. Focus on the shaft and fletchings.. concentrate, He thought to himself. He focused his chakra into the arrow and tried as hard as he could to balance it. He closed one of his eyes and took a breath. Release. The arrow flew into the nest itself and the three birds flew off. Two went to the right and the third flew to the left. Raiden quickly drew another two arrows. He notched the first one and faced it towards the single bird. He pulled the string back focused the chakra again except this time didn't place as much in the arrow. Release. The arrow went straight into the middle of the bird. The bird fell to the ground and Raiden smiled "So, that's how you do it! Now for the other two!"

Raiden turned around and found that the birds landed on another tree nearby to try building a nest there. This time they were probably 30-35 feet away. He had no of getting both because the second bird would fly away faster than Raiden could get to it. Raiden drew a third arrow from his quiver and placed both on the bow. He lifted the bow up and turned it to the side. He adjusted the distance between the two arrows calculating the distance between the two birds. Next he scanned his surroundings. He was standing between two trees that were about eight and half feet apart. This would require perfect chakra control. He'd have to jump onto the left tree then use chakra to quickly jump over and grip himself on to the right one. At this point he expected the birds would notice and start flying so right as he's landing on the second tree, he'd have to shoot the arrows.

He thought about this plan for quite sometime and decided that it would be worth a go. He readied his bow and bent at the knees for extra support. 1, 2, go! Raiden launched in the air and placed his foot on the left tree and pushed chakra out of his foot to get him to the right tree. He gripped on to the right tree to scan the distance between himself and the birds then pushed himself off yet again. While in the air, he lifted the bow and turned it on it's side. He focused the chakra in both areas and released. The arrows shot off quicker than he expected. Raiden's chakra balance was way off inside the arrows. The chakra must have been focused on the backs of the arrows causing them to shoot off like bullets. Luckily one of the birds also took off later than calculated and was hit in the wing. The bird jumped off the nest to fly, but was quickly faulted by his injured wing. He fell to the ground and died on impact. Raiden walked over to the dead bird and saw the hole in his wing. It was a nice clean cut. That arrow went so quick that it sliced through like butter. Okay, note to self, try not to torture animals.

A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training] Empty Re: A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training]

Sun Apr 15, 2012 4:59 am
((I wasn't sure whether this would be considered Chakra or Speed. I was going for Speed, but it might have been written a little differently than I expected so I'll let you guys decide))

The stars in Konoha were becoming more visible and the sun was sinking into the horizon when Raiden decided that he should call his day of hunting to an end. He wiped the sweat off of his forehead and readjusted his clothes. He retightened his forehead protector and quiver. Just as he was done cleaning himself up he heard a noise behind him. Something broke a twig in half. Raiden turned around and found a bear roughly double his size standing there. "Was I really this tired that I couldn't hear a giant bear?!" He quickly reaches for an arrow only to find that he has none left in his quiver. The bear and Raiden stand in place quietly. The bear stares straight into Raiden's eyes. He must have walked into a bad part of the forest.

Raiden doesn't dare make a move. He promises himself that even though he's scared out of his mind he won't be an idiot and run for it. He knows he doesn't have that kind of energy. Raiden was known in the academy for being fast, but to outrun a bear? That would be testing his limits… incredibly. The giant brown bear takes a step forward and Raiden turns around and bolts down the forest. The bear starts running after him and Raiden knows he won't be able to keep this up. He tries to think so quickly. He's trying to calculate every move that he could possibly make. He smirks a bit "that just might work." He hears the bear gaining speed so he moves his arms fast.

He grabs his bow and unstrings it. The wire is no longer than a meter. Raiden now realizes that this plan is extremely flawed. He leaps forth with what chakra he has left and throws the wire to wrap it around a branch. It catches on to one and Raiden swings up and around the to the top of the branch. The bear starts clawing at the tree. "I can't stay up here forever! I have to find a way out of here before my exhaustion starts catching up." Raiden studies his surroundings. He looks down to his wire. It essentially ripped from the swing. It can't be used anymore.

He looked in his supply pack and regrets packing lightly on hunting days. It usually helps him move faster, but now it sort of backfired. The only think he has are a knife and medicines. He analyzes the situation and realizes that with the amount of energy he has he won't be able to run very far. He decides that there is really only one thing to do. He breaks off a small but sturdy stick from the edge of the branch. He starts to carve it into a stake form. After he's done he quickly creates a clone. The clone jumps back towards the inner forest and Raiden jumps the other way. The clone hits the ground a few seconds before Raiden did so the bear starts charging it.

Before the clone is even attacking it disappears with the lack of chakra Raiden has. As soon as the bear turns around Raiden throws the stake at it. Being about 10 feet away, Raiden hits the bear right in the middle of one of his paws. The stake goes straight through the paw and when the bear tries to run again he is immediately tripped by his own injury. Raiden turns around and walks away with his stringless bow. "Sorry." He says half sarcastically. Raiden leaves the forest limbing and bruised. "This is why you should't leave the house." he laughs to himself.

A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training] Empty Re: A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training]

((206 words. Speed training))

Raiden lifted his bow to the sky. Five birds flying towards him gracefully. He got the sense that as soon as he hit one the others would scatter so he had to work quickly. He launched three arrows into the air at three different birds concentrating chakra into each one. Two of the three arrows hit directly and the the third missed pathetically. The three birds scattered in all different directions. Raiden had to think fast. He jumped from branch to branch to get as high as possible. He pushed chakra into his feet and launched himself out above all the trees. Raiden grabbed 2 more arrows and shot them to immediately to his left. He got both birds to the ground. Last one! Raiden fell onto the highest branch of the nearby tree. The last bird is getting away quick. Raiden starts jumping after it. Branch to branch to branch. Raiden pulled an arrow from his quiver and shot. Miss. Pull. Shoot. Miss. Raiden realized his tactics weren't working. The bird was getting farther away. He had one last shot. He drew an arrow. Pull. Shoot… still miss. Raiden stopped on a branch and sat down exhausted. "I guess you can't get them every time!"

A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training] Empty Re: A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training]

(814 words. Stamina training))

Raiden was very excited to start his training! He waited until late at night because he spent all day setting it up. He set up a very large obstacle course for himself to go through from memory. It was filled with many different kinds of weapons and traps that could end up being lethal if they landed wrong. Raiden knew it was going to be some of the hardest training he'd ever done, but he had to step it up for the Chuunin Exams. There were probably some really powerful ninja and Raiden had to calculate his advantages. His big advantage was distance combat. He knew that if he could get his opponent far away from him, the arrows would do the rest of the work. As Raiden walked to the forest he thought to himself, "The challenge is really going to be if I get another range-based ninja." He tried calculating plans to himself, but ultimately decided he would think about that later.

To start the obstacle course, Raiden counted to himself 1, 2, 3, GO! He ran off into the forest with heavy speed. The obstacle course was long so part of the challenge was to manage his stamina so he wouldn't get tired half way through a fight. Raiden recalled the places he put the traps and stepped around them in a pattern form. "Left, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right, Left" He was almost forgetting the patterns. "Wow, I'm so good that I'm fooling myself" He laughed. Eventually the foot traps part of the obstacle course was over. Now he had to jump and flip through the wires or else an arrow would get shot at him. Raiden jumped at the first sight of a silver wire and wrapped his legs around a tree branch to flip over another one. He dove straight through a third one and continued like this. At one point he snapped a wire and the arrow slide across his ankle creating a slight, but painful scratch.

Raiden kept moving, but soon realized that he wasted too much energy on those first obstacles and wasn't going to have enough to finish if he kept it up. He decided that slowing down was the best option and decided to walk to the final part. Raiden pulled a string that start a machine that threw shuriken at random time patterns. He hid behind a tree and waited. The goal of this was to figure out the rhythmic patterns of the machine while traveling from tree to tree eventually getting close enough to the machine to shoot it directly. He jumped to the second tree and was grazed by two shuriken on the same leg as the arrow wound. Raiden cringed in pain, but then quickly told himself to ignore it. He couldn't have deal with pain in a fight so he had to start dealing with it now. He jumped to the third tree and landed fine. He jumped to the fourth and felt the wind of a shuriken go past his left arm. He took a deep breath and waited.

He turned his head over the tree and counted. Three more trees to go before he can make an accurate attack. Raiden jumped to the fifth tree and waited a second. The shuriken were going to be shooting a lot closer so he wouldn't have as much time to move. As Raiden jumped to the sixth tree he felt a shuriken plant into his stomach and then heard a bell go off from the machine. Ignoring the pain he tried to remember what that bell meant. The blood overfilled his hands as he tried to recall. It seemed like forever had past when he finally realized. The bell meant that the shurikens had run out of the machine and it was going to explode in five seconds. Boom. "I guess it would have been five seconds if I remembered what the damn machine did" Raiden flew back a few feet from the explosion. He laid there on the ground. "I hope I get prepared quick.. I will win." Raiden got up and pulled out his bow. He was not going to give up because of his wounds. Raiden lifted his bow to aim and pulled out an arrow. He concentrated chakra and released. He successfully shot the center of a tree about 100 meters away. He stared in awe for a moment.. his training was actually paying off? He could actually shoot well? His chakra was balanced without him even trying that hard. It all seemed so foreign to him but he just smiled and fell to the ground again. "I guess I do have a chance." Raiden laid there for the rest of the night. He didn't sleep, but wasn't really awake either. He was in a state of bliss. A feeling of satisfaction.

A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training] Empty Re: A Long Day [Raiden Hyuuga Training]

Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:13 pm
((866 words. Chakra))

Raiden woke up late for his day of training. He realized that by the time he got ready and set up in the woods he wouldn't actually get any time to hunt. "There's no point in hunting today, but I can't waste a day when it's only a week before I'm eligible for the Chuunin Exams" He went over his plan again in his head. Get as much range as possible in the arena. Get cover. Wait for opponent to attack and adjust plan accordingly. Predict attack and counter attack with striking kills to avoid from being analyzed. Raiden realized that he needed to prepare for the strongest of attacks that a Genin can accomplish. Theoretically Genins can have as high as SS-rank jutsu, but that would also mean that they must have spent all their time training chakra and would be relatively slower than Raiden. Speed was definitely Raiden's strong suit, but he needed a jutsu that could protect him just in case. He thought the perfect jutsu would be his clan's palm rotation.

Raiden laughed a little to himself at the irony. He rejected his clan's techniques his whole life, and now they were coming to save him in his time of need. Raiden couldn't attempt that kind of jutsu right now though. His chakra skill wasn't nearly what it needed to be. The rotation required perfect balance of chakra in all areas the body. Raiden came to the conclusion that training his chakra would be a good use of his day. He pulled his bow and arrows and went to the training field in Konoha and started shooting arrows at the wood. He began at 90 meters away. Raiden concentrated chakra into the arrows and shot. His goal was to hit directly one arrow on to another so it broke the arrow in half. Raiden focused his arrow and shot into the wooden post. The arrow hit right in the center. He needed more of a challenge. He went to 120 meters and shot. He made it relatively close to the center and realized that his training wasn't effective. He decided to try and make his arrows faster.

He drew and arrow and force all his chakra into the shaft and feather tips. When he released, the arrow flung at lightning speeds but it went out of control and missed the post completely. Raiden drew a second arrow this time focusing on a balance of chakra throughout the bottom of the shaft and feathers. It shot at extremely fast speeds though not nearly as fast as before. It hit the wooden post this time however. Raiden drew three arrows and notched them. He pulled back the string and jumped in the air. Charged the string with chakra and released. The arrows flew at the equal speed and distances. When Raiden landed back on the ground he smiled. He discovered a new method of shooting his arrows effectively!

He decided that shooting his arrows wouldn't be the best benefit for him. He needed to train exerting chakra. Raiden put down his bow and arrows and stood with his legs equidistant apart. He put his arms into a tiger hand sign. He charged chakra in all parts of his body. He focused on balance and a bluish hue appeared around his body. He pushed more chakra into all areas and focused again. This time the amount of chakra was hard to balance. It took him more time. He powered and down and this time exerted the same amount without charging gradually. Raiden used all his energy to concentrate and it took him about 5 seconds to get perfectly balanced chakra. He needed to lower that time if he ever hoped of using the jutsu successfully. He lowered his level and exerted again. Balanced and this time it took him about 4 seconds. He tried again got it to about 3 seconds. He realized that rotating would help when he attempted the jutsu so 3 seconds was about the best he needed.

Now Raiden exerted the full amount of chakra needed to attempt the jutsu and balanced. This one took him about 7 seconds. He released and sighed.. that was way too long for a jutsu to take in combat. He would be knocked out immediately. Raiden slapped his hands together like he was praying and scrunched his eyes and focused intentionally. He timed himself again and brought the level down to 3 seconds. He collapsed. He couldn't expect too much out of himself this early. He would finish his training over the next week. Raiden realized that this jutsu was his ace of spades in a sense because no one would be prepared for his defense. He needed all the close range skill he could get considering his gentle fist taijutsu was lacking tremendously. Raiden walked back into his room and fell on to his bed. It didn't take long before he fell asleep. He knew that the Chuunin Exams would be worth all the pain and handwork he was doing. It was respected that he became a Genin without his clans approval and if he became a Chuunin it would be revolutionary. He smiled in his sleep at the thought of it.
