Knowing that the Uchiha clan thrived in Genjutsu, Hanzo wanted some techniques that could compliment him. Even though his main focus was Ninjutsu, he wanted a few techniques that had the potential to do at least basic trauma to his foes. He changed his clothes and headed to the Advanced Training Facility. He found a quiet area in the facility to train in silence. He didn't want to be bothered by anyone. He took out a training dummy within the facility and placed it before him. He recently awakened his 1-Tomoe Sharingan but didn't activate it as that would be bothersome for a simple Genjutsu.

The young Genin closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As he opened his eyes, he moved his hands towards his chest and performed the Tiger Hand Seal and initiated the technique, Fear Pull, by saying "Tell me, what is your deepest fear?" at the dummy. He could see the chakra flow when he spoke to it and understood how the techniques work via vocalization. The Uchiha was content that he easily completed the technique without much effort. He cracked his head, from left to right.

Now, the young Uchiha wanted to try out his other technique, Mind Read. He stood right in front of the training dummy. He put his right hand on the dummy's head and closed his eyes. He invoked his chakra as he performed the Ox Hand Seal to initiate the technique. It was an instant success. Even though the target was just a dummy, he could see the blank mind. He knew having this technique would come in handy when he had to interrogate someone weaker than him. Even though just being E Ranked techniques, when used properly, they could have the potential to make great damage. Hanzo felt that speed learning many techniques would be his ticket to join the Sound Ninja Five, even though he has never seen anyone from that team yet.

Content with learning not one by two Genjutsu, the Uchiha left the training facility. Hanzo understood that just learning basic techniques like this won't get him much progress, he needs to awaken his Three Tomoe Sharingan in order to reach his goals. He walked back home wondering what to learn next.
