Mission Empty Mission

Sat Apr 22, 2023 3:11 pm
On a nice and beautiful day, Ciel was training diligently in a vast open field surrounded by what once was lush forests. The sun was shining brightly overhead, and a gentle breeze was blowing across the field, rustling the tall grass. Ciel was practicing his taijutsu, honing his strength, speed, and agility in hand-to-hand combat. He moved quickly and gracefully, striking and dodging imaginary opponents with the precision and fluidity of a seasoned warrior. Sweat dripped down his face and soaked his shirt, but he did not stop. He knew that every moment of training was essential if he hoped to become a great ninja.

After being out in the intense heat Ciel thought it is best to take a quick break and grab one of the snacks and drinks he had stored away in a bag. As he rested in what looked like the only shade in the area, he heard the arrival of someone. As he looked over to see who it was he realized it was just a messenger nin coming to do his job.

He walks over quickly and hands Ciel the letter and leaves just as quickly as he came. As he opens up the letter and look at the contents he was slightly surprised to see that he would be completing two missions today. His first mission was to head over to the local equipment shop and take a look around exploring all the various equipment and such. His next mission was a more serious mission, returning the body of a fallen comrade.

As he was closing the letter he realized he had a mission something very important, He wasn't going to be doing these missions alone. This has been the first time in a long time that he has gone out on a mission with other people that wasn't team spring and he was excited to get the day started. He would quickly gather his belongings and make his way to the local equipment shop where he was hoping that his teammate would either be there or be right behind him in arrival.

[Posting mission here to avoid confusion]
Untimely Demise:
An Extension of Yourself:

Roy Goka had just been named a genin of Hoshigakure. There was still a long way to go before he could call himself the greatest swordsman in the world, but being given this rank meant that a small step towards that goal was completed. Still, things were not even close to being in order. Roy didn't have a home, proper clothes, or even ninja equipment, including a sword. All of those required Roy to make money and he wasn't in the business of stealing any more. No, Roy knew that hard work was the way towards his goals and solving all his problem, and now that he was a true ninja of the village he could start with that hard work.

Roy made his way to mission center where he quickly found work. He wasn't sure what kind of work he was going to get, but from what he noticed around the village, genin tended to get remedial work, or assignments that didn't carry to much weight on the operation or security of the village.

The scorch swordsman would open the scroll detailing his mission today: assisting in the burial of a fallen comrade. It was a bit of sombering feeling for Roy; his first mission in the village was to guard the ceremony of a fallen ninja. It made this job all the more real as he knew that he could one day be the one in the casket. It was chilling to learn that a clone was made instead of the real body being in the casket, was that what the village would do if Roy too was killed in battle? An interesting thought to be sure.

Roy was made aware that he was going to be on a team for the missions toward, an exercise in teamwork too, something Roy knew little about. Still, orders were orders, and Roy wasn't about to fail his first mission because he couldn't get along with others. Roy would leave the mission center and make his way towards the equipment shop, where the group was supposed to meet before starting the mission, which also gave Roy a chance to finally visit the shop himself, as he was barred from doing so as a student.

When Roy arrived he saw the that shop was quiet for the moment, no customers in view, and it made easy to find Ciel. Casually walking towards him, Roy would inspect the ninja that he was partnered with, the black hair, the cool posture. When Roy finally got within 5 meters of him he would wave towards the Uchiha.

"Hi, you're waiting to start a mission, right? My name is Roy"

Hiroshi was pulled into the administration office early one morning. It was relatively early and the streets hadn’t filled yet. He was starting to gain recognition amongst the villagers and fellow shinobi as someone that would tutor academy students. He had helped a few students learn a few of the required jutsu to pass the genin exam. He was proud to be a good role model in the village, he was going to do the best he could in protecting the village. The administration manager pulled Hiroshi and a few other shinobi into her office. “We’re going to be sending a few of you out to do multiple missions with a few new genin, I just wanted to make sure I got the right people for the job.” She said eyeing all of them, when her eyes landed on Hiroshi’s she smiled. “I’m putting you in a team with a new genin and someone who’s been around for a while, just do me a favor and teach the new guy how to complete missions quickly and thoroughly.” She said as she dismissed and pulled Hiroshi to the side. “I need more people like you, complete missions and move on, okay?” She finally allowing Hiroshi to respond.
“Yes ma’am, I’ll show up, and just do my best to help. Thank you, ma’am.” Hiroshi would say as he walked away. Hiroshi wasn’t going to try to be bossy or overtake the mission, this was a weird request to ask of him, he just passed the genin exam also why would she pull him aside like that? Hiroshi made his way outside and thought about his teammates for the mission. A Goka, and an Uchiha along with himself. He knew the missions would be simple enough so that would keep him motivated.
Hiroshi darted for the shop which would be the meeting spot for everyone on the mission. When he arrived it appeared he was the last person there. Roy was there he had helped him train, looks like he passed the Genin exam. And he was approaching another teen, definitely an Uchiha, this one would be Ciel. He walked towards the two and decided to make the shape of a triangle with the other two. “Good morning guys, I’m Hiroshi.” He would say offering a slight wave to the other two.

Upon arriving at the equipment shop he noticed that he was the first one to arrive. "Not too often I get the privilege of being the first one to arrive at a meeting spot for a mission, I suppose it would be best to wait out here for them to arrive", he thought to himself as he hung out around the entrance of the shop. As he waited he couldn't help but notice how beautiful of a day it was, with such a nice breeze in the air and the cool temperature it almost made him want to take the day off and relax under a tree somewhere. As he stood outside the shop with his back up against the wall he noticed that there weren't too many customers out today for some reason, even though to him this shop looked pretty cool on the outside at least.

Ciel had never before been to an equipment shop so his opinion about them probably wasn't the best one to listen to. Now if this was a restaurant and food was the topic of conversation then he would definitely have plenty to add to the conversation then. It didn't take long for Ciel to notice someone who appeared to be a shinobi and upon seeing the young man gestured at him, he would assume that his hunch about him was right. Ciel would gently push himself off the wall and make his way toward his fellow shinobi and upon getting into handshaking range, he would extend out his hand with a smile as he introduces himself."Hey there, My name is Ciel Uchia pleasure to meet you my Roy. We have one more were waiting on before we can start . This first mission seems pretty smooth", he would say to his fellow shinobi.

As Ciel observed his teammate for the day he got the feeling that the two of them wouldn't have any issues completing a couple of tasks they have to complete today, the only thing now was to wait for the third person to show up. Not too much longer after Roy had arrived the third and final member of their team showed up. As he walked up he introduced himself as Hiroshi and Ciel not being one to be known as Rude would smile back and say "Hey Im Ciel", he said calmly before continuing."Now that we all are here why don't we get these mission out of the way and get back home", he said with a slight chuckle as he turned and made his way inside the Equipment shop. As he walked into the Shop he was almost amazed at how much variety there was around him, everything from paper bomb attacks to Kunai to beautifully crafted Katanas. "Wow, for my first time in an item shop this is definitely pretty damn cool if you ask me", he said to himself as he examined item after item.

After a while of looking at all the equipment he had an interest in his time inside was pretty much done and all that was left was for the others to be done as well. He would go and stand over by the entrance as he awaited his two teammates to be done looking at all the equipment.

Roy hesitated a bit before giving his hand over to Ciel for a handshake. Of course Roy knew what a hand shake was, but it was rare that somebody greeted him with one, normally it was just shouting, attacking, or some other sort of hostile welcome. He had been conditioned from his years on the run not to get too close anyone who was so formal, but Roy had a made a promise to the village that he would be nice and try new things, so with a obvious and nervous gulp roy would extend his hand to shake Ciels.

"Um, nice to meet you, Ciel. Glad to see another new genin here." Roy would say as he peered into the ninja shop. The two would only have to wait a moment before Hiroshi arrived. Roy clearly gave Hiroshi a warmer greeting as he approached, a small smile would appear on his face, and his tone would improve as the genin that helped Roy train and succeed at the Genin Exam had come along.

"It's great to see you Hiroshi, fellow Genin!" Roy would say with pride as he moved his hand towards his shinobi headband. It was the nicest thing that Roy owned at the moment, as the two ninja that were  accompanying him would have noticed: Roy was still wearing rags. Brown and Red scratchy cloth that covered his body but did nothing else. Hopefully with this Money Roy could work to get some better clothes, and a sword.

In regards to the Latter, one part of the mission was to look around and get familiar with all of the different swords, kunai, and other weapons that were available for sale here. As he approached the front of the store, he saw something that interested him dearly, a genin bundle full of useful items, and a change of clothes. The cost of the stuff was cheap, really cheap, and Roy knew that he would have enough money from his missions today to pay for it. Satisfied, Roy would walk back to the front of the store without saying a word.

"I think it's about time we head to the burial." Roy would conclude.

The warm welcome from Roy was apricated. The added part about a fellow genin filled Hiroshi with a sense of pride. He was elated that the young shinobi had passed the genin exam. “Great job Roy, maybe here you’ll find a sword you’ll like.” He said as he walked toward the pair.
Hiroshi could tell from Ciel’s demeanor that he was a seasoned genin. He watched the two enter the weapons shop. He pondered what he would find in there. After Roy and Ciel entered the shop Hiroshi took his turn entering. He was amazed at the intricate design of some of the weapons. There were bundles of kunai and shuriken, or you could buy them individually. There were paper bombs and scrolls. Hiroshi was impressed with the shop. He was more interested in the armor. He knew as more of a medical background he would be exposed if he went on missions without protective gear.
As the group finished their tour of the weapons shop Roy recommended that they go to the burial. “I think we need to talk to the family before we go to the burial,” Hiroshi said as nicely as he could to remind the younger shinobi that there was another part of the mission. Hiroshi would head toward the address that he was given for the relatives of the fallen shinobi. If the family asks to see the body they were supposed to be declined softly, but firmly. Hiroshi knew the real reasons and he felt conflicted. He wanted to assure the family everything would be alright. He had never had to inform a family and then be a part of the burial before now so he was worried he do something wrong.

After a little while it seemed as though the team had all finished looking around the shop and was ready to move on to the next phase of their mission. This was the part that he wasn't looking forward to, not because he felt some kind of guilt that they would be lying to the family but more so because having to deal with the burden of being the first ones to inform people that they were never going to see their loved one again was one he didn't feel like carrying but would just so he could end this mission quicker. As they all made the way out of the shop Ciel had already memorized the location of the family home so he would look over to his fellow teammates "Hey guys, ill do the talking if you don't mind. I do not want to drag this out longer than necessary because if we end this quick enough we might just be able to get some other things done for the day", he would wait to see if anyone would contest that, and if not he would then turn and make his way to the family's home of the fallen shinobi.

It didn't take long for them to reach the home and Upon arriving there was a lady in the yard working on her garden. Ciel would approach the house and open the gate, which in turn alerted the lady that she now had a guest. "Afternoon ma'am, Im Ciel. Me and my fellow shinobi here have been sent on a mission to come find you and talk with you. Could we step inside there are some things you must hear and im sure sitting down in your home would make things easier.", he would say with a smile. He was trying his best to remain friendly so that he wouldn't alert the woman before she had a chance to take a seat. The woman greeted them back and without hesitation lead the trio into her home. After taking a seat she asked what was so important that they had to send three shinobi to her home. Without sugarcoating things Ciel informed the women of her son's passing and that she wouldn't be allowed to see him first.

The moment the words left Ciels mouth you could see the women's heart sink into her stomach as she immediately broke out in tears and wandering why she wouldn't be allowed to see her son just yet. While remaining calm Ciel did his best to reassure the woman that she would see her son soon and that he died a hero, even though he didn't exactly know the cause behind the death he just wanted to bring some kind of peace to women who just had her whole world destroyed. After a few moments and loud outburst, the women was able to pull herself together long enough to thank them for telling her and walked them out of the home. Ciel would then look over at his teammates, "Well now that that's over with , what's left to do for the day", he would say as he walked away from the house and onto the sidewalk.

As the group of Genin left the shop and went over towards their next assignment it was a different feeling walking through the village. As they went through the square roy could feel eyes glancing towards the group as they continued along their path. It wasn't every day that Roy walked the village with another ninja, nor was it every day that he felt as though he was part of the group, but at this moment Roy knew that he had become a part of the village ecosystem. A integral part of how Hoshigakure was run and administrated. There was a sense of pride that began to swell up in the genin, as he knew that he had a role, and a purpose for the village and his people.

As they approached the house Roy was happy to step back and let Ciel do the talking. Roy wasn't the most sentimental person, death is death, and it comes for everyone, and when his father died he remembered nobody there to console him. He didn't know how to do it, nor did he have a desire to learn, rather just let somebody with betting talking take the reins and watch to make sure that nothing went amiss.

Through a window at the front of the womans house, Roy could see anything, he assumed that Ciel had told the woman that their child had perish, he wondered what thoughts might have been going through their mind, what type of feelings they had to endure: Anger, Fear, Sadness, guilt? Regardless Roy would wait with Hiroshi to make sure that nothing bad would happen.

"Hey, You There!" A voice would shout in the distance. As Roy turned around he would see a puff of smoke appear and moment later a figure would appear from within it. A ninja, clearly a jounin, with a scar on their cheek and a rather offical tone, Roy could tell that this ninja valued his job and his station. The ninja would hold out his hand and within it, a scroll would be handed, which Roy took.

"Your day just got longer, newbies." The ninja would say with a smile, and a moment later would dissapear from view. Roy would open the scroll and read the contents.

"So, we need to head to the Kozai Yuki National archives, apparently we are doing some bookkeeping, or something? The archives, I think I've heard about them, you ever been, Hiroshi?" Roy would ask.

Hiroshi was glad Ciel told them he wanted to talk to the mother of their fallen comrade. He wanted to become stronger in medical jutsu so he could go on the battlefield and save people. His love for the village and its people would be the driving force to get better and to do better. He hoped this would be the last mission like this that he would have to do, but maybe he would learn and he’d be able to be the one to speak to the loved one next time. Hiroshi thought of how pathetic he must look waiting on another shinobi to do his job. Hiroshi watched as Ciel took the poor woman and mother into her front room to have her take a seat. Hiroshi listened in as Ciel broke the news quickly of the death and the fact that she couldn’t see the body. Hiroshi was taken aback by the fact that Ciel didn’t show any emotion or empathy for the woman. He looked at Roy and noticed the younger shinobi wasn’t as bothered. “We’re all a part of the village, we lost a brother in arms.” He told Roy as he listened in on what was happening in the house.
Before Ciel left the house after the woman gathered herself a Jounin appeared before the two genin hanging out. It was another mission. “Looks like our day just got busier,” Hiroshi said mostly to himself as he approached the shinobi with the mission in his hands. Roy asked Hiroshi about the archives, he hadn’t been yet, but wasn’t looking forward to either. “I hear that place is pretty boring Roy.” He would say shaking his head at the fact they would be doing something more boring than looking at equipment. He lifted his pack out of his pocket and pulled out a cigarette, and then thought against it as he was standing next to the woman who just lost her child’s house. He would put it back into the pack and tap on the top of it.
Ciel would appear out of the house a few seconds later wondering what the trio had left to do. “We’re going over to the archives to go do the most boring work you could ever imagine.” Hiroshi said pulling the cigarette back out. He was ready to leave and get the mission over with. “I don’t mind grunt work, but when it comes to archives and bookkeeping it’s defiantly not my strong suit.” He said putting the cigarette between his lips and taking off toward the archives lighting the cigarette as he ran.

As he left out of the home he took a moment and stood at the door, he couldn't help but feel some sympathy for the woman who had just lost her child and the fact that there wasn't any kind of male presence in the home would mean that she's all alone now. Even though he didn't have any children himself, he knew that losing any member of your family had to be a devastating blow, and it's only worse if it's the child you raised for the last twenty-plus years. While taking his moment to get over the situation he noticed a nin arrive and give the team a letter. When he approached the team he was informed by Hiroshi that they were assigned a new mission that involved them going over to the Archives. At first, he was slightly annoyed that he was getting assigned another mission but at the same time,, he couldn't help but like the fact that he would be earning more money before the day was over.

As they made their way to the Archives Ciel couldn't help but realize how much of the day had gone by, since they had been out on mission all day he hadn't had the opportunity to grab some food, and with this work, he was doing he definitely had worked up an appetite. He knew he couldn't just ditch mid-mission to go grab food so he made a mental note to be the first thing he do when he got done everything. It didn't take the trio to long to reach the archive and upon arrival, he couldn't help but be slightly in awe at the building. Ciel always helps places like this in high regard due to his respect for all the information one could get here and the fact that so many great shinobi have left all their knowledge there for future generations to learn from. When he entered the library he met with he librarian to be shown the exact location where he was needed in and then made his way there. At first, it didnt seem like much work was needed but after a while, he could tell this wasn't going to be a quick in and out.

Smiling, he would make a few hand signs and would have two shadow clones appear on both his left and right side. "Alright, get to work guys. I dont wanna be here all day so work overtime so we can finally enjoy some well-deserved food and collect our pay", he would say to his clones as he would find a chair to sit in while he watched them work as fast as they could to organize the place. After a short while the clones had completed the task and rather quickly, way faster than he would of by himself. Once they were done he would go find the rest of his teammates and see where they were at on getting their task done. After realizing he cant yell in the library he would have his two clones go find his teammates and tell them to meet him at the front when they are done.
