Nova Exam: Morio vs Arashi

Here it was. The time had come. The young Dragon Lord had spent much of his night roaring the fires of his forge making sure each weapon was primed and ready. With each stroke of his hammer his armor and weapons would breathe new life and on this morning his time was here. He stood within the corridor that lead to the arena looking at the closed doors with a hunger for victory and once and for all to show just how strong he had become. He knew he had support from at least one person, and as he took in a deep breath he would grab hold of Cassian, placing the ebony blade onto his shoulder as he secured Raizel to his side. The doors would open and he would move forward, flicking the armored coatail of his jacket into the air as he walked with pride for once. In the crowd he had looked for only one person, his surrogate father Mercurio and there he saw them. A smile formed on his face as he stepped forward into the area and moved to the center of it, sticking Cassian into the ground and leaning on the flat of the blade as he waited for his opponent. The little Dragon knew nothing of his opponent, but one thing he knew was that he was not leaving this arena without winning. And so it would begin as he waited for the other doors to open and the fight to finally begin.

Arashi's Stats:

He was looking good, and he was feeling good.  Nerves were not there, not for fear of losing, and not for fear of failing.  The once Young Prince had more than proved himself, and he was here to see if he had what it took to be more than himself.  To be a member of those noble ranks of the Nova Guard.  The Guard had been formed when he was still a genin, and took prominence after he had left on his journey.  Some said he was a shoe-in, others said Hoshi's Son was too old.  Either way, he would leave this arena proving one side correct.

He made sure his gear was strapped to him, and ready for the older adult to move around.  His prized weapon was strapped horizontally to the small of his back; the shortsword gifted to him by his late mother. Ready to go, his clothes seem to billow, especially his scarf, as he kept his own control intact.  Finally... the doors opened, and he looked across at the younger Genin.  Morio Hoshimura.  A rather talented individual according to his academy records.  The storm ninja was excited for this; he was a promising ninja in Hoshi already.  

He made his way to the center as the crowd roared.  Even if the boy before him didn't recognize him, the people of Hoshi did.  He willed himself to not turn to the VIP box, where he knew his wife and child sat watching.  It was time for his daughter to see her old man in action.  At least old in the sense that he was more than certain he was more than twice the age of his opponent.

"Hoshimura Morio.  Good to finally meet you.  A lot of promise; and because of that, I promise to give you a proper fight.  They wouldn't let me join when I was a Genin.  I look forward to which one of us ends up in that white coat.  May the best ninja win." he stated, bringing the sign of the ninja duel to his face to signal that he was ready to begin. His other hand drifted to his side, ready to go as soon as the Ref started the match.

He waited for quite a while and thought this would be a case of a no show, thankfully he was proven wrong as the doors from the other side began to open and a figure began to walk out from the opposite. Leaning off of Cassian, the blade would begin to hover around its user until resting on his right side just an inch from him, the handle within reach if need be. Within his mind he could hear the voice of Cassian speaking to him, this time in its distinct voice," It seems quite a few people have come to see you perform...Do your best to show them the new you," a small smile would form across the young lords face as he rolled his shoulders. As the two were facing one another within the center of the arena no more than 5 meters from another, Morio would shrug for a moment and respond," I would expect nothing less from a "Prince" of Hoshigakure. Just make sure you hold nothing back because you will receive no quarter from me," the young male would bring his left hand forward to make the sign of duel much like his opponent. As soon as the ref would call the match to a start, his right hand went to grab for Cassian with swiftness and in the same motion the blade would be swung. A crackling noise akin to a dog barking would overtake the arena as the blade tore through the very space the two occupied as an invisible rectangular, ten meters by twenty meters wave of force would soar toward the Jounin at 80 speed to knock him off his feet. As soon as the blade had been swung, he would begin to whistle six tunes as well. From his body a force of gravity would spawn into existence 5 meters behind the Prince of hoshi and extend 20 meters in all directions at a speed of 95 covering his back, left and right. Their distance from one another was not much, and should the wave of gravity touch the Jounin should their strength fall below the power of the technique they would find it impossible to move due to the gravity of his attack. The first two were mere tests to see if the Jounin had what it took and from there Morio would keep a watchful eye as he Kenseigan took form. He would prepare himself to make any and all changes to his tactics should his opponent try to retaliate but for now he would begin to move toward his opponent in an attempt to keep them within range of his aura.

The Jounin smiled as the fast began, and almost immediately Mario launched his first attack at him. Good, he hated having to be the one to initiate. Unable to really evade the slash, Arashi had his own blade out, and the two had their first clash. The fight was on. He pushed back with physical strength, as the Genin in front of him started letting loose with his own abilities. So he was going to try to overwhelm him? Arashi may be rusty, but he wasn't that rusty.

As he sensed a shift in the air behind him, the Jounin waited for the initial slash to get pushed away before jumping not behind, but to the side. He landed and slide back, having only moved a few meters away, and he quickly did his signs at his full speed. His eyes seemed to sparkle as the irises shifted to a deep blue, and tiny lightning bolts danced from the white to the pupil. A shift in his appearance was the only telltale sign, as his clothes seemed to have the ends fading into the air... like a cloud.

His defense put up, the Jounin licked his own lips, before suddenly whistling himself, and launched his free hand forward, sending a wave of compressed air at his opponent at his 40 speed and at 100 power. At 50 jutsu speed, his body and clothes turned white, and he began to fade into the air.

The die had been cast. What the Jounin perceived as a strike with his blade would become his downfall as the torrent of wind would prove to knock him backwards and subsequently into the dome of chakra behind the male. It was a simple, yet deceitful ploy that Morio used and yet it went off without a hitch. The Jounin would soon feel his entire body fall under the weight of gravity itself, preventing his next actions and forcing them to the ground. In the same vein, Morio would whistle six distinct pitches as four blades 5 meters in length, 2.5 meters in width and a meter thick as they slowly began to materialize into the mortal plane. Two spawned on his right and two on his left side each blade being but half a meter apart and four meters from Arashi's now prone position. While Morio would offer him no quarter the crackling blades would remain at his side as he pointed the tip of Cassian at the Jounin," I need for you to give up...No matter what you do you will not overpower my technique and I would hate to spill your blood in the name of the contest. Grab hold of your honor and surrender...or i will have to strike you down," the genin would note as he waited for a response. Anything other than a surrender would come with one...no two of the blades being shot at him to prove a point.  In the meantime, Morio would keep his wits about him and wait for any movement that would be deemed offensive, and react in kind.

There was no way he would have been able to deflect a blast with a kunai, but he did his best, and went into his cloud form as quick as possible, activating his flash step to get out of the way.  He was not going to let it end like this. Moving as quickly as he could in the opposite way from the disturbance, Arashi let himself turn into a cloud and fade into the air.  Once that was done, he reflected on himself... that hit was unexpected, and it was clear that the new father was way too rusty.  He made a foolish mistake.  And he paid for it.  Still... he was here for a reason, and he was a high-ranked ninja... he needed to act like it.

"Big words, but listen to this crowd.  They want combat.  Giving up so easily would be a big disappointment.  You're fast, but you need more than speed to earn that coat.  And telling a superior that you are more powerful than him is a sign of hubris.  So let's try again." he stated, letting the wind whistle around him.  

Puffs of clouds began to form around Morio and started to take shape, showing as kunai and shuriken.  Soon, they looked exactly like the real weapons, and with another whistle, the cloud weapons shot with a speed of 65 and a power of 105.  Arashi stayed in his dispersed form, watching to see what the genin would do next.

((OOC: It doesn't look like you have a Kunai which means you wouldn't be able to block the attack [Not that the Kunai would be able to block it anyway]. Not only that you still run into the issue of running into Singularity because of that. There is the issue of you also using "flash step" but i dont see a jutsu on your page for that unless you meant body flicker?)

The battle continued to go awry as he watched his opponent for a better explanation run into the attack he had launched first. In addition to that, it would seem that he would still be caught under the effects of Singularity, if not for long. Within its effects he spoke his words true but his opponent would continue to struggle under the effects of the gravity. A shame he had to do this, but he needed to end this quickly and without delay. While his right hand held Cassian within its graps, his left hand would begin to glow a greenish glow before taking form of his newest masterpiece, The Grafted Living Weapon. The weapon would not take any form but in front of his fist would form a 5 cm ball of green energy that began to whirl into existence. For a moment would he sigh before shaking his head,"  Your funeral." The words would be uttered effortlessly as he ball shot forward and struck the very ground where the Jounin would be pressed upon before exploding into a green explosion. The explosion would continue on for 25 meters in all directions, but Morio and his equipment would not be phased. The explosion would kick up his coattail and hair would be flowing in the wind as the explosion engulfed them both. He wouldn't leave it up long enough to do lasting damage but just enough to knock out and end the fight. As the green explosion subsided, Morio would remain standing as he pushed Cassian into the ground and rested both hands upon its hilt as he sighed," I was going to save that for the later fights but you left me no real choice...," he would then remain still as he waited for the ref and the medical team to retrieve Arashi before leaving himself.

((Okay.. I need a mod here. I have specifically written that I have gone in the OPPOSITE direction and you still say I'm caught in the singularity. You have honestly ignored everything I have done and RPed that I'm in the singularity and therefore you win.))

So the missing blade/kunai from Arashi's stat page. Morio acknowledged its existence in the earlier round; it’s impossible to void it retroactively. Call it an ic tool, a prop. Arashi raised his arm, trying to push back the bark, and it didn’t work. However, as Arashi pointed out in his earlier post, Bark doesn’t have a knockback effect, so Morio's actions with the assumption that it did would not be valid. But there is one action that would be valid, and that’s the creation of Singularity since it happens when Morio fires bark.

The handseals are near-instant, so if Arashi had activated them immediately after being hit by bark, he would have escaped Singularity. But because he concluded his jump first and then started his technique, SIngularity inevitably catches up to him after he jumps but before he can trigger Cloud Dispersal.

On that note: Singularity is 20 meters for the casting point, which is selected and spawned from up to 15 meters in radius. So it’s 5 meters smaller than Morio described. Finally, the damage calculations from Singularity are wrong. It does is DoT and thus doesn’t scale from a clean 50.

Arashi will be refunded the AP expenditures in the previous posts since he hasn’t activated anything yet. The health bar, too, since the damage he calculated is more significant than the one received. These are Arashi's stats after Morio's last post.

Finally, Arashi heavily protested that Jaye tried to claim an auto-hit with Despia. Jaye wrote with the assumption that Arashi would be hit with Despia, so it reads like that. Morio could have been more efficient with the use of the words “could,” “would,” and “if” upon firing a technique.

Arashi is not hit by it yet; he has a ball of energy traveling at him, and the timeline is fluid. It's his turn, and he has 48 hours from this ruling to post his response.

The green blast went off and the explosion engulfed them both. In the end there stood Morio looking down upon his opponent as he sighed and wedged Cassian into the ground gently," So it ends i suppose," looking into the crowd he would see those of his team and others he did not know... How quaint. A small smirk appeared on his face as he looked up toward his team specifically, giving a small thumbs up as he waited for the medical team to retrieve Arashi and once they did he would remove Cassian from the ground and walk out of the arena. The first match was his but the battle was far from over.
