Last Minute Fishing

Having heard the rumors, Komori meandered down the sheer staircase that led to the base of the cliff. The ocean lay beyond, but he wanted to make sure he could feel the sand between his toes and the wind in his neatly tied hair. Over his shoulder, he carried a long bamboo fishing rod, something he had haphazardly thrown together during his years in the Village Hidden in Rice. A Hozuki by nature, he had always felt a deep rooted connection to any body of water, especially the ocean. Reaching the base of the cliffside, he strode over towards the very end of the beach. The low tide lapped against his sandaled feet as he maneuvered his massive pole. Casting out with all 10 of his strength, the reel lurched into the air and out towards the endless blue expanse. There, the floaty part sat nonchalantly atop the surface of the waves, bobbing up and down as the tides ebbed and flowed. Only time and a spurt of luck would be able to tell what haul he would reel in. Not too much time, as it turned out. The bob began to pull beneath the waves, a presumably mighty force tugging at his rod. His toned arms did well to stabilize the rod, working to reel in his prey. The farmer turned fisher pulled and pulled with all his might, his line nearly giving way. But still, he persisted through hardships, like he had all his life, and at last-

What he had thought would be a mighty haul turned out to be rather disappointing. The weight of the line hit a snag, and then gave way to a much weaker force. The mighty fisherman continued in his quest all the same, however, reeling in with all his might. As the line returned to land and his hook returned to hand, he discovered what appeared to be a baby shark (do do do do do do) had fallen for his ingenious bait. The disappointment only came from the size of the specimen, a mere 5 pounds and 6 ounces. The act of catching a shark, whether it be big or small, was no small feat in itself, as sharks typically only went for smaller, weaker fish. It was then Komori realized that what must have occurred was in fact that he had caught a fish, mighty indeed, but that the mommy shark (do do do do do do do) had instead eaten what surely would have been the first place prize, leaving her baby shark (do do do do do do do do) to feast on the remnants of the legendary sea guardian. Hanging his straw hat, Komori accepted his lot in life and resolved to strive forwards, never wavering in his surely continuing quest to catch the mightiest fish of all. With his baby shark (do do do do do do do) in tow, he began the arduous ascent back up the staircase, ready to head to the weigh station and see how his catch fared against those of the other competitors.
