Digging Through The Rose Gardens

Their team leader would highlight an important factor in missions… the very real chance of death during a mission. He wasn’t well versed in the intricacies of Fuinjutsu, but Arashi made it very clear what needed to be done. Sebastian would do as instructed and place the bodies in the scrolls. While they may need to go through the identification process, he would rest easy knowing that they wouldn’t rot out here or get picked apart by vultures. “Thank you,” the wolf would offer before taking the basket and collecting the flowers. It would take a while, but soon the basket would be filled with flowers and soil. He was surprised upon seeing how quickly these were all filling up, hopefully enough for the doctor folk to mix up some remedy and hopefully figure out how to replicate the conditions for growth in a controlled setting. He wasn’t sure how it would done, but the medical teams were far better educated than the simple man had been so if anyone could do it he imagined it would be them.
 
Once completed, Arashi would request they push onward and back to the village, claiming that with the wind at our backs it would be faster. Sebastian couldn’t help but also mentally add that the weight of drenched clothing would also not be a factor, plus with clear skies morale would also be up for the wolf. He would follow his captain’s lead and also begin the trek back.
 
Once at the gates, Sebastian would hand over the basket and the scrolls. “It was a pleasure working with you both.” A grin would find its way to his face, “I look forward to our next encounter, be it mission, training, or leisure.” Loghain would give a light bow and offer a simple, “Farewell”. He had done well in this mission, and more importantly in the controlling of his more bestial side.

As Arashi explained the life cycle of these particular flowers, Ishii couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the scene before him. The idea that life could survive out here, that it could not only thrive in an environment devoid of water, but bring life to others as well was a truly remarkable thought. Ishii breathed in the newly floral scent of the desert air, giving a slightly contented smile to his companions. The mission was a success then.

Of course, this state of bliss didn't last long. When the shinobi were readying themselves to leave after a long day of plucking the flowers, Sebastian asked to bring back to bodies of those who had died. It still brought Ishii a bit of pain to know that they had died as violently as they did, but that's the life of a shinobi he supposed. They had done what was necessary not just for their own continued survival, but for the good of the village, and for the lives other shinobi who may fall victim to the terrible poisons concocted by rival villages. Nobody could fault them for that, not even the men who died. Yet at the very least, Ishii agreed with Sebastian. They deserved a funeral of some kind. Better that than leaving them to rot here in the desert.

The shinobi readied themselves to leave the desert behind with their flowers in tow. This time however, Ishii was ready. He felt invigorated, and faster than before. He wasn't intent to be left behind this time. Yet that got Ishii thinking. He felt drastically different than he did the day before. Faster yes, but he felt healthier too, and his energy reserves seem to have shot up dramatically. The biggest difference he felt however, was his eyes. Something about them felt different. His vision wasn't different in the slightest, but he somehow felt as though he could see less than he could before. His mind flashed back to the day before, the starry masses of energy that shaped his vision. Maybe that had something to do with it? Ishii chuckled, shaking his head. His next words he spoke under his breath, to nobody in particular.

"He really did knock the wind out of me..."

With that, Ishii took off with his companions to return triumphant to his village.
