Arrival Empty Arrival

Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:30 am
10th Summer, 419AV

The wastelands of Wind country, an entire country, in which the entire damn terrain, is a massive desert. When they were setting down the borders of each country, did someone actually look at this gigantic fucking desert, and say ‘We should put one here!’ and have others agree? God how stupid were people exactly? These were the thoughts going through Senhime’s head for the upteenth time that day as she moved toward what seemed to be like a giant cliff face from a distance. Her lavender coloured hair, modified kimono, skirt, and katana all in clear abundance. Her near death at the Haven country borders after killing that pathetic Genki kid who apparently was what passed as a Jounin for that village, had been well in the past now. She had moved through Shadow Country on her way here, and killed a man who wore a better armored jacket than she had. Now she wore it over her kimono top, although she wished she could just modify it into her clothing. However the extra protection was much too important to forego in this world and she simply couldn’t afford to take such risks yet. She was still far weaker than she would like to be before she could make such gambles. Her encounter with Genki’s speed, and the speed of the second, unnamed, Jounin made that blatantly obvious to the woman. She had a great many things that she needed to do in order to get to the point where she was confident she could handle opponents of such speed and techniques. The clone technique the second jounin had used was frighteningly versatile and she simply had nothing like it in her rather dismal arsenal. The ability to paralyze people if she saw fit to do so was quite useful to have but only to those inexperienced shinobi who weren’t physically strong enough to simply resist the effect.

The large cliff like structure in the distance was now significantly closer now and she could now clearly tell that it was some kind of wall. The structure seemed to have no entrance, but she was probably simply on the wrong side of the wall to find it. That was fine, it would give her more time to consider what she would do if the inhabitants of whatever was within those walls were hostile. She didn’t have much and she needed to resupply if she was going to make it out of the desert once more. Where would she go from this point she wondered? Maybe she’d find a reason to stick around? Who knew? She drew the katana from it’s sheathe a bit, only an inch or so, and looked down at the gleaming metallic surface, a violet eye reflected back and she blinked at her reflection. It was all she had of her old home, and she pondered such things when she was alone on long journeys it would seem. Her family, as much as she missed them, were dead and gone. So she didn’t know why she was pondering them so much at this point. Was it regret? Sadness at their deaths? Her mind briefly flashed back to the moment the youngest of her three oldest brothers died. Defending her and her mother from the small sacking force of a raider group. The main group had assaulted their homes main gates, distracting her father and her other two brothers. The youngest of them had stayed behind to defend them, the assumption, was that he wouldn’t have to do any fighting quite yet but someone had to defend them. Whether it was simply in a last ditch effort to help them survive, or to allow them time to commit suicide so they wouldn’t be able to be used for the vile things that happened to women when raiders captured them. It simply didn’t matter, for in the end, her brother had been killed.

Yet die alone he did not, for he did them proud by killing three of the four men who came at him before falling himself. That final man had found more than he had bargained for when he entered to home to claim the ‘spoils’. For Senhime wouldn’t simply roll over and be used in such a manner. She killed the man, for in that moment her Sharingan awoken. The man simply couldn’t keep up with her precognitive vision at that point, and she slew him in a single blow. Her father and brothers managed to drive off the main force, but not before their little sibling had died. Then the rest of her family was killed in their sleep by a murderer, she only awoke by chance, or perhaps it was instinct? She didn’t know, but she slew the man and found that he had already killed the rest of her family, she had simply been last. At that point, she simply took some of the money, took the katana she had used to kill the raider prior to that event, and left. She had already developed a love of battle though, or was it a love of killing? She wasn’t sure, she knew she craved the adrenaline rush of combat, the thrill of battle, but was it really a craving for blood? Was it really the desire to murder? She’d have to figure that out.

At this point, she’d arrive at the wall, towering structure that it was, it seemed to be doing it’s job of standing vertically at a 90 degree angle to the world around it well enough. She couldn’t tell how thick the wall was from her angle, but if it was even a fraction of how tall it was then it would be difficult to break through indeed. The surface was somewhat craggy, and rough, and she wasn’t sure if one could utilize the surface walking jutsu on it. It would be odd to be able to do so, it wouldn’t be much of a defense if one could just walk up it. But, one never truly knew in the shinobi world. If her tutoring was correct, then this had to be Sunagakure. She had learned well from her tutors at their home in Tea Country. If she was correct though, then this village should be in the hands of Kumogakure at the moment, why had no shinobi come out to challenge her the moment she got too close to the walls? It was an odd situation to be sure, however it wasn’t one she was prepared to waste too much thought over. So without further ado, she turned and began walking along the wall to find the entrance to the village. As she traveled her thoughts went back to home, and her family. Her mother, Mai, was beautiful, and loved them dearly. She had a quick wit, and worked hard to keep her children and husband happy. She worked harder than anyone when it came to learning how to defend themselves, save for perhaps Senhime herself. She wrote back to her clan, wanting to know more about the eyes that Senhime had awakened. They gave her a response, however her mother never did tell her everything. HAving been sworn to not do so until she was ready. What information might yet have been given her might still be in her home actually, one day she’d have to go back and look. As well as pay her respects to her mother.  Senhime missed her terribly and she felt a cold loneliness in her as she thought of her. However her thoughts pressed on, her father, Ieyazo, was a kind man, who worked hard to provide and protect his family. He worked hard in supporting them as they grew in the shinobi arts, not having much in the way of bloodline or raw power. He did what he could though, using his quick mind to take control of a situation as quickly as possible. She missed him too, and would need to pay her respects to him too, hell she’d need to do so with the rest of her family too.

At this point, she’d suddenly reach the opening in the wall, it was indeed a deep opening, the wall was easily at least half as thick as it was tall. It would take one hell of a shinobi to blast through it. She’d carefully wait here if no one was currently standing guard. Entering an occupied village was simply stupid and rude, and she was neither. She wanted to enter, pick up supplies, maybe even stick around for awhile. See what work she could do to make some money, get better equipment. One did not do that by simply waltzing into a shinobi village without checking in at the gate. Her katana would long since be resheathed, having done so when she reached the wall, however she would keep her hands near it in case she needed to try to draw it quickly against an enemy attack.

Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Someone was approaching the opening.  His scanning eyes didn't yet make them out from his occluded hiding spot, but the chakra sensory he was focusing on did.

The hiding figure of Hayate, clad in black, dark blue, and grey, performed a few swift handseals, and the caltrops scattered across the opening glistened and then faded from view.  The approaching chakra wasn't immense, but then again, neither was Hayate's, so no sense taking chances.  It seemed to be meandering, coming along the outside of the wall.

Hayate pressed tighter into the shadowy crevice in the walls opening, standing motionless, breathless, his already low chakra suppressed even further, a statue with one hand on his sword.  As he wasn't one of the main fighting powerhouses on this trip, Hayate was just assigned to make sure that no one went in or out of this section of the wall without Kiri permission.  He didn't necessarily have to kill everyone he saw.  But that didn't mean he'd hesistate.

A purple haired girl walked into view outside of the hole, asking for entrance.   Though armed and armored, and with significant chakra, she bore no signs of a village and did not seem on edge as if expecting a fight.  She also didn't seem like this was her home, from the way she approached.

He threw his voice to the top of the other side of the hole in the wall using chakra, as if a person was perched upon the wall.  Subvocalizing without moving his lips, he spoke.

"These ruins are closed.  Step no further." And with that he resumed his chakra suppression

Arrival Empty Re: Arrival

Wed Jun 12, 2019 9:03 am
Spoiler:

Very few things in this world could bring a man to feel at peace. Some say the loving embrace of a partner invokes such a feeling of harmony. To other, more twisted and demented minds, it may be the smell of blood. The feeling of taking the very breath out of a humans body and ending their life. Kinzoku was not one of those men. He did not have the familiar embrace of a loved one to go home to at night and sooth him to sleep nor did he take pleasure in robbing a soul of its essence. Kinzoku was a simple man. He turned to the little things when all else failed. But nothing else brought more pleasure to the Nazar than taking care of his people, his community, his heritage. There was nothing more in this world that could bring the Nazar to peace but home. Finally, after so many long and grueling years, so many years of loss and suffering, Kinzoku was back home. He knew the land well enough to know when he and his armies were crossing the boarder into the Wind Country. Into Kumogakure territory.

Kinzoku and his forces rode hard through the familiar forests of the Fire Country and into the River Country. There they took a single break as needed to tend to the horses as well as their own needs. Brief as it was, it did good the shinobi and horses good and allowed them to continue riding hard through the River Country and towards their destination. To those who had never been to the once allied nations of Konohagakure, the signs would be obvious. The rise in temperature was the first as it got hotter and hotter the faster they rode. Vegetation began to decline rapidly as the ground became drier by the minute. As they crossed the boarder, the ground soon became the soft sand that engulfed this entire nation. He knew from this point the village was not far off and it would be time to leave the horses behind. They were not acclimated to this environment and would only hold them back from this point on. Kinzoku disembarked from his horse, a soft thud as his boots came down and sunk slightly into the familiar sand. Batting his horse, he slowly let go of the reigns from his stead before kneeling down into the sand. He slipped his right hand into the rough yet smooth texture of the sand, letting it swallow his hand whole while he took in the familiar sensation from the heat he had grown up with. He unsheathed his hand from the sand taking a handful of it with him as he watched multiple steady streams slip through the gaps of his fingers and out the side of his palm. The ocean of sand provided a natural defense unlike any other. It was treacherous land to travel through, requiring more effort the trudge through the soft sand than it did to walk on solid ground. The constant heat beating down on those below took a toll on whoever was not accustomed to the climate. Terrible place to live? Perhaps for the feint of heart. Hazardous for outsiders? Certainly.

Time for reminiscing was over. Coming to his feet, Kinzoku removed his hat and jacket as shinny steel particles made their way out of his pores and surrounded his body. During this process, he stored his hat and jacket neatly onto his horse while his body was soon engulfed by the steel particles. Eventually Kinzoku was suited up in in full armor from head to toe without the slightest fear of overheating. This was his former home. The heat comforted him. The sharp eyes and teeth inlaid on the helmet were revealed for the first time, meant to instill fear in those he encountered. From his horse he retrieved his weapon pouches and crossbow, placing them around his waist and onto his back respectively. By now the rest of his forces would have gotten the hint to get down and prepare for the oncoming battle. Once settled, Kinzoku would lead the way to Sunagakure, knowing the shortest and most efficient path to the village for he and his forces. The path to reclaiming it all.

The large protective earth walls of Sunagakure came into view in no time. With the progress they were making, the gates followed soon after. With ever step their forces took, rows of shinobi  emerged from above the sand domes and into sight from the village. It was quite clear that Kirigakure had not arrived on the scene yet as they area was empty with the exception of the one person awaiting at the entrance they were fast approaching. Kinzoku did not believe it meant Kirigakure' absences for a second. In his brief encounter with the Mizukage he did not know him to be a liar. It was better that Konoha arrived first. It meant the cards were in their hands for the time being. It meant Kinzoku could proceed as he saw fit.  At about 100 meters off, Kinzoku signaled for the forces to halt while he continued on. His trusted shinobi were permitted to follow close behind if they so pleased. Nonetheless, it would be Kinzoku to make the first move. He continued his approach to the familiar walls of the home that was stolen from him and to the gate Senhime found herself waiting at. 70 meters off from the Kunoichi, the Nazar came to a halt himself. It seems as though the gates were unnamed at the moment leaving this lone shinobi out in the sun on her own. Shame. Unfortunately, Kinzoku knew how Kirigakure handled things. How Xyxer handled situations. With Blood. With his left hand, Kinzoku retrieved Peacemaker from his back as the wings opened up, a bolt already loaded and ready. He needed to set things straight from the get go. From this moment on, no one was entering or leaving the village without going through their forces. In one swift motion, Kinzoku retrieved his crossbow and fired off a bolt towards Senhime. If she were not facing him, the bolt would move to pierce into the back of her ankles, slicing the tendons and making it impossible to walk. If she turned to face them, it would be aimed at her knee in an attempt for the same effect while a second one followed quickly behind for the other knee. If she made an attempt to evade or deflect the first bolt, the second one was perfectly positions to hit her during her movements to deal with the first.

If either scenario was successful, Senhime's legs would be crippled but she would live. Kinzoku actions were not meant to kill the bystander. He was not too concerned with the result of his attack either. It's entire purpose was to send a message. It seems Senhime had failed in grabbing Suna's attention. Perhaps bringing an army at their doorstop and attacking their visitor would do the trick.

Post Things:

Edit: adjusted bolt speed. There was some miscommunication with the working of the bow. Should be good now.

How did the quote go again? Ahh yes, you know the best thing about having an eye that sees everything? You can see bullshit happening from a mile away.

How arrogant these little insects were, trespassing in the lair of The Ragdoll and acting as if they owned the place… apparently they did not realise that all actions had consequences. With the Byakugan that he had purchased from Alice Kenshin had been watching the gates of the village from within the Kazekage’s chambers, mostly in an effort to preserve his chakra so that he didn’t have to make quite as many Shadow Clones each day. But the moment that his eye had began watching the gate he had taken note of something rather interesting… a little rat that had decided to hide itself away in his walls. Thanks to the Byakugan The Immortal could see the proud symbol of Kirigakure engraved into the piece of metal on his head, even through the rather shaggy hair of the grey and black clad shinobi that was trying so hard to remain unnoticed. It truly was unfortunate that he had been unwise enough to venture into the lair of the beast without any form of backup. The little rat was not important enough for The Ragdoll himself to venture out, so he would simply create a shadow clone and leave the extermination to it.

The pale shade would sink into the ground with nary a word said, its own Byakugan active and watching the skulking little vermin as it continued to hide… blissfully unaware of the predator that was coming to end its pathetic little life. The spectre would approach from beneath the surface of the earth itself, the very thing that the vermin thought would offer him protection would end up allowing the predator that was stalking him to get far closer than it would be able to otherwise. The poor fool would be unable to sense the chakra of the construct due to a certain little ring that sat upon its pale index finger, and the sound produced by the shifting of the sands could only be detected by the most sensitive of ears, ears that belonged to the most experienced of fighters. Indeed, there was no real way for the foolish rat to detect his killer… and that only made the thrill of the hunt all the sweeter… oh how the original would cherish these memories when the shade dispelled.

As the shade arrived in the wall, only a matter of inches behind the wall that the poor fool was pressing himself against, it’s Byakugan would survey the area, seeing naught but a lone woman approaching the gates. The shade would observe the rat perform a set of hand seals as the unknown woman got closer to the crevice that served as the main entrance to the village, and upon completion it would note a small layer of chakra that began to coat the rather poorly concealed Makibishi spikes that littered the ground. How cute, it seemed that this fool thought he was a true shinobi, relying on cunning, stealth and wit… it was quite amusing that he was about to die simply because he wasn’t good enough. The moment that the fool opened his mouth to speak the monstrous presence of The Ragdoll would slam down onto him, the foul chakra of the unnatural creature enhanced beyond measure by its Corrupted Sage Mode. The moment that its enhancement activated violet chains would erupt from its body and shoot out towards the rat, five chains in total, each aimed for different vital points in the vermins body.

The chains would only have to travel a few inches to meet their target, and at this point the little rat had one hand clutching its sword… so the likelihood of it managing to form any hand seals was extremely low. One of the chains was aimed at the base of the fools skull, poised to sever his head, one was aimed at the lower right hand side of his abdominal cavity, ready to rend the organs within, two ready to carve their way through the inner thighs of the boy and tear his legs, and more specifically his femoral arteries apart, while the final chain was aimed for the base of the boys spine. Regardless of how he attempted to move it would be next to impossible for the rat to avoid all of them, especially when one considered that he currently had himself pressed tightly into an extremely small opening in the walls.

What the clone did next would depend entirely on how the prey reacted, but it truly didn’t see a way for this unaware fool to prevent his fate.

As the lavender haired woman moved to stop upon the gate of the village, she would notice no one stationed at the gates, was she soon to be attacked in ambush? She wasn’t sure, and she her red sharingan eyes, with three tomoe in each, would blaze into existence. The action bringing her perceptions into truly wondrous clarity. Wary of a potential attack from the village, but seeing no one around to enact such a ploy, the woman would turn on her heels, prepared to deal with an attacker sneaking up behind her. Which is where she would see the man with the crossbow. He hadn’t fired yet, but he did appear to be taking careful aim. It would only be a second or two after the turned about that the first bolt would fire. Her eyes however showed her the path of the incoming bolt, their ability to such details with immensely useful unto itself. As such, she could see the bolt was aimed at her knee, a non lethal shot then. They wanted to take her prisoner then? Not if she could help it. With a simple ease Senhime simply widened her stance, the action would maneuver the targeted  knee enough to cause the bolt to sail harmlessly through the open air between her legs. While not being low enough to cause it potentially hit her by accident somewhere else upon her body.

However, as she changed her stance and dodged the first bolt smoothly, a second bolt would be fired, aimed directly for where her leg was now. The woman would almost roll her eyes at such silliness, she had dodged the first bolt as easily as switching her stance, the second would be an easy matter well. After all, firing from such a range only gave her plenty of time to move after all. As the bolt hurdled toward her the violet eyed woman would simply adjust her stance again, and slide the targeted leg back a few feet in a partial circle. This would cause the bolt to once again, fly harmlessly through the now open air that had once been occupied. The first bolt would land with a slightly muffled ‘thunk’ into the sand thirty meters behind her before the second bolt had even been fired such was it's speed compared to the archer's. The second one would land near it but as it struck the sand behind her she’d hear a metallic impact as well. As if the bolt had struck something else. Was it some kind of metal flooring within the chasm? Then why wasn’t it throughout the entirety of it? That didn’t leave many other options. So Senhime continued under the assumption that the chasm had traps strewn within it. Either by the people living here, or others. Regardless of who, it meant she couldn’t trust the chasm floor.

As the girl approached and came into view, Hayate was focused sharply on sensing chakra.  This source was soon blown away by another, more immense chakra slowly entering his senses.  To sense it from this far away, it must be huge.  Hayate would have no idea it was wearing a ring that suppressed the scent of C rank tecniques, nor that the clone itself was a B rank technique that it therefore couldn't suppress, only that immense chakra had finally come.

Due to the slower nature of its mole movement, it wasn't quite near the wall yet when Hayate was still waiting to speak.  Well before Hayate would speak, which he had planned to do via subvocalization and ventriloquism without opening his mouth, the girl turned behind instead of approaching the gate.

The reason for this was the new Hokage that Hayate recognized from the chuunin exam trip, and he was prepared to take her out.  Well, if he identified her as an enemy, then Hayate had to as well.  A Kage outranks a chuunin, even if one is from konoha and the other kiri.

Seeing her turn her attention and the Hokage treat her as a threat, Hayate burst forward from his hiding place, taking care to steer clear of his own traps.  Chakra infused into his sheath, and the plain spatha hilt shimmered and became the sturdy steel hilt of Tulkas.

Bolts whizzed out from the hokage, the angle of the shots making their final trajectory land in the dirt on the far side of the hole in the wall from Hayate.   He himself charged to close the short 15m between himself and the girl (also not stepping in front of the shots, nor letting the girl get closer to the village than him).  Chakra surged down his blade, infusing it, and he began to take the slow deep breaths of combat.  This was no longer a discussion.  If he got into melee distance without the girl noticing or any interference from behind, he would strike with the flat of his blade straight down upon her head, using the nonlethal "spanking" jutsu.  It wouldn't be enough to kill her, though if it connected she would at least wake up later with a hell of a headache.

OOC:

Edit: I simply removed references to Kenshin being sensed.  Otherwise, i keep to the timeline established and veer from it at the first new opportunity (the shot/dodge), at which time i run towards senhime.

[The following post is void due to mod ruling]

As the shade felt its chains tear through the flesh, bone and organs of the foolish little rat it would feel nothing, not pride at just how easily ending him had been or even amusement at how weak the fool was… in fact, if anything all it could feel was disappointment. The clone would allow itself to emerge from the wall and simply step over the rapidly cooling corpse, paying no mind to the crimson sand and it bent down and grabbed the severed head of the boy and began to walk towards the entrance of the village. It could see that the situation wasn’t over yet, as in the distance the shade could see the veritable army of men on horseback… being led by a cripple with a crossbow of all things. It seemed that he was intent on attacking a woman that had been approaching the village… could he be the leader of a group of raiders? It would certainly explain a bit. Perhaps the fool meant to raid Sunagakure, and the one that had been hidden in his walls was simply a scout that got caught? Maybe, but that didn’t explain the Kirigakure symbol on his head. It mattered little to the shade in the end, as regardless of who he was or what he was attempting, he was going to die just like the other one had, not with a shout or with a bang, but with a whimper.

The shade would watch in amusement as the girl dodged the attacks with ease, and all the while it would simply make its way through the field of now visible Makibishi Spikes, although regardless of whether they were visible or not it could see them with both the Byakugan and Sharingan. The overwhelming chakra of the shade would easily be felt by Kinzoku, and with a dark smirk on its pale and scarred face it would raise its right hand, revealing the severed head of the fool that he had just killed. With nary a care in the world it would toss the appendage back over its shoulder, not caring in the least if it actually landed near the corpse or not. It wouldn’t say a word as it stared at the invading force, simply raising its arms up in a challenging gesture, and waiting for their move.
