Taijutsu Training with Senshi (private)

Senshi was in the training grounds, as was usual for him. He felt that he needed to not only maintain his already excellent physical conditioning but also that he needed to improve. The Chuunin Exam Trials had been tough so far, and if that was any forwarning for what was to come it mean that the actual Exams would go far beyond the rigorous testing he had already been through. With the recent acquirement of his tanto’s he had decided that now was as good a time as any in order to practice with them. With Bastuodosod, his over six foot long bastard sword on his back he was working through several basic katas with his tanto’s.
 
He had originally started with just practicing adjusting his grip but now he ran through several basic motions slashing them through the air. He wasn’t using his usual chakra sensory skill to check the area, due to how focused he was in training his basic technique with the weapons. He had, had them specifically built so that he could utilize his budding wind nature chakra with them. As such as he made slashes began to form his chakra making a quick hand seal as he brought his hands in close to his body he created a wind arrow that rested on the tips of his blades. He turned making a quick double slash through the air, sending the arrows flying. He had been intending to aim for some trees that were behind him, and due to this as he turned releasing the arrows he was surprised to see another boy on the training grounds. He, and the other Genin, were lucky that the tree Senshi was aiming for was over five inches to his right.
 

As Senshi watched the two wind arrows speed towards the boy however, he didn’t realize that the arrows were not fully headed towards the other Genin. Wanting to ensure that he didn’t injure a fellow comrade Senshi made the ram seal, suddenly flying forwards as he activated the body flicker (152 Speed, just for reference) and appeared next to the other Genin, beating his wind arrows by several seconds he turned releasing his chakra through his blades and letting loose his Decapitating Air Waves technique with a sharp slash of his tantos he watched as the two arrows were immediately blow backwards and dissipated into the air. He turned to the other genin quickly sheathing his blades before giving a light nod of his head. He recognized this boy as having graduated several classes ahead of him, but didn’t recall his name. “Good morning, Genin-sempai. I apologize for accidentally attacking you, I was not aware enough of my surroundings.”

Senshi blinked unsure how to respond to the other boy thanking him for saving his life. Really the wind arrows probably would have missed him, but Senshi hadn’t been fully sure if they would, it was why he had moved so quickly in order to ensure they didn’t. However after he had taken his position to defelct the arrows he had noted how they would miss the other boy. Still there was no point in bringing it up since it would be rather useless knowledge at this point. He would just accept the thanks with a small nod watching as the other boy began to turn to leave. That was fine with Senshi as he had several other things that he needed to continue practicing. He made sure to release a pulse of chakra so that he could take another look at the Genin, and the ensure that he didn’t have any other random shinobi approaching him.
 
He couldn’t afford and accident like that again. Not only would Akihana-Sama be severely disappointed in him but he didn’t want to kill another shinobi. Especially not a comrade like this dark haired boy was. Senshi was dragged out of his thoughts as the Genin spoke. He found it odd that he didn’t know what the Body Flicker appeared like but decided that it was probably because he didn’t own a Jutsu Encyclopedia. Shrugging that thought off Senshi gave a tentative nod before speaking, “It is the Body Flicker technique. It’s a D rank technique, relatively simple in performace. You perform the Ram seal then focus your chakra into your legs. You want to reinforce your Leg muscles with the chakra at the same time charging them so that you can move faster. You generally need to be careful in the beginning to ensure that you don’t tear muscles.”
 

Senshi would wake several seconds for the other boy to ask any further questions and answering them before he would turn to focus on a tree. His last Chuunin exam mission had shown him that he needed to work on his taijutsu and as such as he kept half of his attention on the other Genin, releasing chakra pulses regularly he focused on his own targeted training. He stared first with a Dynamic Entry on the tree, launching himself forwards to kick the tree watching as he snapped it at the base. As the tree started to fall he jumped up executing a Leaf Whirlwind snapping the tree into three separate pieces. He ended his attack on the tree, using leaf gale to break the dree before it could land in front of him. He let loose a breath as he looked at the destroyed tree around him. Where he stood was now littlered with random parts of the tree, the main part of it having collapsed before him. There were rather large chunks of the tree just surrounding him and Senshi felt a small amount of pride in himself for being able to destroy the tree so effectively.

956/2000 Words to Learning Komori's chakra

Senshi had continued his own training, since he needed to make some of his more basic techniques more lethal he had decided to master Raiton: Jodan. The technique was useful enough on its own as it was already, but the hand seals slowed down the performance of the jutsu. The only reason that he had been able to use it so effectively against the Raikage in his and Reizo’s Third Chuunin Trial was because the other boy had served as shield. Reizo had hid the hand signs that Senshi was weaving and made the technique seem like a true Taijutsu technique. Senshi knew that if he was going to use the technique to any effect in his career that he needed to wipe out the need for hand seals.
 
He was lucky in that he already had some practice in doing that since he had mastered both Genjutsu release and a basic medical technique. He knew exactly where he needed to start in order to work on the technique and as the Hozuki boy started his own training, copying the stances that Senshi had used, the young Genin wove his hand signs moving slowly as he did so. His right fist lit up with lightning chakra and he threw the punch. Ignoring the deep gouge he took out of the boulder he was now targeting he wove the hand signs faster than before.  He was working on bringing up his speed with the hand signs and then striking first.
 
It was already simple for the Genin to do since he had conducted a lot of training with this technique already. His hands alternated between flashing out in a quick punch and weaving the hand signs for the technique. He wasn’t allowing himself to take any sort of break as he continued training and it was easy for him to ignore what the Hozuki boy was doing since he was so focused on his own training. This wouldn’t last for very long however as Senshi, doing his usual Chakra Sensory of the area, picked up the approaching signatures. Senshi paused in his striking at the boulder and weaving his hand signs to give a dismissive glance to the two females.
 
He rose an eyebrow in confusion as he noted that the Hozuki boy seemed to suddenly be trying to train harder with the girls watching. Senshi’s head tilted to the side in confusion as he noted the sudden increase in energy and motivation that the other boy was giving off. He didn’t understand why the appearance of the two young women would be having this effect on his impromptu training partner. He thought about asking, but could tell that the Hozuki boy was too entranced by the other two people in the area to say anything back to him. If he even acknowledged anything that Senshi said to him right now. Instead Senshi decided to take this as a chance to learn about others and pay attention to their body language.
 
As the other boy created two clones and started to brief them Senshi’s head cocked even more to the side. He undoubtedly resembled an owl with how far his head had cocked to the side. He could tell that the two females that had entered the training grounds were gazing back at both the other boy and himself but Senshi interpreted their body language as simply curious. He was willing to bet that they were just interested in why the two boys had stopped their training when they had entered the training ground. Senshi realizing that he too had stopped his training to watch the show that the Hozuki Genin was about to put on debated returning to his training.
 
He held off when his ears caught the words that the cloned Genin and the real one were saying to themselves. He found it odd that the clones seemed to have a personality of their own and were even seeming to not obey their creator. Senshi knew none of his clones would ever act that way and wondered if it was perhaps a different type of clone technique. He could easily see the benefit of having clones that had their own personalities. It meant that whomever he fought couldn’t just determine what his clones would do because they knew what he would do. It would add an air of unpredictability to the fight that he normally would not be able to rely on.
 
Still he didn’t like the fact that the clones seemed to be able to ignore orders that could be an incredibly fatal draw back if they weren’t brought to heel soon. As Senshi was about to go back to his own training finding the commotion to be boring and not teaching him anything the clones finally moved, charging and fighting each other. Senshi was decently sure he knew which the real body was but he was suddenly surprised when one of the ones he thought was a clone suddenly created a snake of all things. Then as the one he thought was the real one attempted to use what Senshi deduced to be the Body flicker, and failed, Senshi began to reevaluate if he had somehow lost track of who was who.
 
The one Senshi had mentally labeled Clone 2, used a water release technique and Senshi found himself thrust even more into confusion. He knew his own clones could not use techniques so that meant this was an advanced clone technique. One that he needed to learn the basics behind so that if it was ever used against him he would not be surprised and potentially killed. Senshi’s chakra pulsed out and he noted that they all gave back a chakra signature that was around equal. Despite his intensive studying into jutsu Senshi knew that he hadn’t heard of a technique like this before.
 
It only brought to light how much he had been focusing on his own specialty. If he had taken the time to study up more on jiujutsu he probably would not be as confused right now. He made a mental note to himself to start looking into more ninjutsu’s so that he wouldn’t be so surprised next time. Undoubtedly one of his teammates would probably be able to assist him or at least their Jounin commander, Itami, would be able to do so. That was his job after all and Senshi had been remiss so far in not approaching the man for better training opportunities. Something that he would need to fix if he wanted to improve himself.
 
Senshi watched as the Hozuki genin finally managed to perform the Taijutsu technique he had been practicing earlier and dispelling his clone in a puff of smoke. That only further proved that the clones were not the normal academy level, E ranked version. Normal academy clones were completely intangible, meaning that Komori’s foot should have passed through him rather than sending it flying backwards. These clones while also able to use chakra based techniques were also solid, Senshi found himself greatly intrigued by the capabilities of this clone technique. It was probably a ninjutsu specialty type technique but none the less, it was something he needed to learn as much about as he could. Even if he couldn’t learn to perform it on his own.
 
Senshi had completely ignored the two females, instead more interested by the mock battle going on in front of him. SO much so that he didn’t even note that they were turning to leave. He was surprised when this time Komori managed to perform the Body Flicker correctly and watched as his clone was quickly dispersed. When the other boy ran up to him, before he could speak Senshi’s words left his mouth. “That Clone technique, can you tell me about it?” Senshi was pleased that the other boy didn’t seem to mind answer his question. Going so far as to tell him about the B ranked Shadow Clone technique and how it was a solid version of the E ranked academy technique.
 
Before Senshi could ask anything else the other Genin made to leave giving his name, and giving Senshi just enough time to give his own in turn. He didn’t understand why the boy was in such a hurry all of a sudden, it seemed connected to the two females that had appeared. Maybe Hozuki Komori knew them and wanted to catch up with them. Senshi gave a shrug of confusion before turning back to the boulder he was attacking so that he could master his Raiton technique. He would need to track the Hozuki boy down again some other time, in order to learn more about the technique he had used. And to also possibly learn more about water elemental techniques.
 
He had been wanting to branch into that area eventually, especially since it would help most of his lightning style techniques. Senshi began to cut out one of the hand seals of the technique in order to really begin the mastery process. He was pleased with how quickly his chakra rushed to his hands and converted to ration chakra. He had been training with his ration chakra a lot recently and the benefits of it was showing. While he had spent a long time learning this technique just so it was usable in combat, a simple forty five minute training session and he was already down an entire hand sign.
 
He could feel how much faster the technique was now that he only had to perform the dog hand sign and then whip out his arm in a punch. The boulder he was striking had several deep gouges in it and Senshi could see that his knuckles were turning raw from, not only the cold in the air, but also the amount of times he had struck the rock. Taking a moment to use the basic E rank medical ninjutsu he had learned to heal his knuckles he went back to striking the rock. He began to speed the hand sign up and then after ten more minutes of that he simply held his fist up and focused his ration charka into it,
 
He would wait until he felt completely sure that he had replicated the feeling of the technique like when he used chakra and then strike out with his fist. The first several attempts though his fist was bright and crackling with lightning chakra, didn’t cause the right amount of damage. It took another half an hour of using the lightning chakra and punching the boulder before he began to see that the damage he was causing was the same as when he used hand seals. He spent several more attempted to ensure that he had the technique now before pausing in his training. It would better serve his time today to go and research the Kage Bunshin technique he had seen used today.
 

Not to mention that snake technique and the water technique, he was excited, for once he had something new to learn about. It would put his research skills to the test as well since he need to look it up based on the little he had seen. He would need to go over his memories and see if the other Genin had said the techniques name out loud. If he had this would make his research much simpler. Senshi quickly collected his gear and headed off to the library and almost bounce in his step at the excitement of learning something new. It had been quite a while since he had seen a new technique used in his presence and he felt jubilant at the idea of getting to return to the library and learn about it. He would need to find this Hozuki Komori and thank him for his jutsu demonstration.
