Do I have to..? [open] Empty Do I have to..? [open]

Mon Jan 20, 2014 10:52 pm
Koaru had had enough of the hassling he got from his clan elders. They, and even his mother and father were nagging him. Though he had just become an official shinobi, they declared it was time to unlock the secrets of the Garinado clan. Every shinobi of the Garinado, when come of age, learns to wield a secret art, among the other skills in their arsenal, and Koaru needed to join them. Koaru set down his backpack on a dirt patch in the training grounds, its contents so heavy that it stirred up quite a bit of dust and rubble. To his left, there were training dummies made of straw, and to his right, there were tall sturdy tree stumps, some with shuriken and kunai still in them. With his back unburdened by the load of his backpack, Koaru sunk into the ground. “The training hasn’t even started and I’m already exhausted.” He closed his eyes and reflected on everything he knew about his clan and it’s unique kekkei genkai. He had spent a significant amount of his childhood studying those in the Garinado clan that came before him. Among them, were several that could perform many amazing feats with only their eyes. “Soon, people will call me the lady killer. The guy who makes all the women swoon with just his eyes, haha!” Koaru joked, but his expression deepened after a few moments. He had to become stronger, for the sake of those who would soon depend on him for protection. Koaru rose to his feet, and in his hands, rocks and gravel. Koaru faced the dummies and put a few rocks in the straw in specific places. He jumped back, distancing himself from the dummies about 10 meters. He formed a hand sign and molded his chakra. A cloud of chakra enveloped him and blew furiously about his figure. “I’ve got to focus my chakra,” he internalized as he released his hands and threw a short flurry of more hand signs. Ultimately, he had to pinpoint his chakra into even the smallest openings in his body, in his case, his eyes. But for practicing sake, he would start by concentrate his chakra into a jutsu he already knew. Koaru took a deep breath, then clapped his hands together. His chakra concentration shifted to his hands. A blue aura swallowed both his hands just before Koaru let out a forceful grunt as his hair started to whip furiously about his head in all directions. A furious gust of wind burst from Koaru and was on trajectory to collide with the dummies. The dummies felt the force of the wind and began to loosen from its post holding it firmly in the ground. Koaru acknowledged the progress of being on target, pushed harder for a stronger burst of wind. The wind blew strong enough to spread a scatter of cuts on the dummies. Furthermore, the posts that held the dummies in place were unearthed, allowing the dummies to be blown away. Some were cut where a person’s leg would be. Another had a cut in its midsection. Koaru stopped his jutsu, and moved in closer for a more thorough inspection. The cuts were shallow, and none were even close to hitting where once of the pebbles were deeply embedded amongst the hay. The young ninja rested his hands on his waist. He needed to find a better way to pinpoint his ninjutsu attacks. “Larynx, spine, lungs, liver, jugular, subclavian artery, kidneys, heart,” hey listed, counting each one on his fingers. There were so many vital points he could target. But, there was no way he’d be able to hit the smaller ones while maintaining his distance from the target. His teachers from the academy had done well to teach him about all kinds of vital points, but successfully striking them are easier said than done. While everyone excelled with approaching a target with taijutsu, Koaru pitifully could not even so much as land a punch hard enough to injure his grandmother. In the heat of battle, sneaking up on an enemy with a kunai in hand would not be Koaru’s first resort. Koaru closed his eyes again and thought about pinpointing his chakra. His mind drifted and began to think about the ancestors of the Garinado Clan. They must have been able to pinpoint their chakras into their eyes to use their jutsu. Koaru opened his eyes and let out a long sigh. With his mind clear, he reapproached his training from a different angle. He walked over to his backpack and removed several weights. He tried them to his arms, legs, and torso as he stretched. He noticed a few birds had gathered near the pond where he was training. They were perfect for his next training target. He reached further into his bag for three tags. He concentrated chakra into each tag. They were tracking tags a shinobi could use to keep tabs on an enemy. Suddenly, Koaru commenced and dashed toward the birds. He threw the tags, and two of the birds were marked. The flock flew away in shock and fear. A grin on his face, Koaru followed in pusuit. He chased the birds over the water and began to mold his chakra. The chakra at  his feet intensified, and the water under his feet stopped splashing. He was dashing at full speed, yet not making a sound. Even the most skilled ninja would have trouble hearing his steps and reacting at his speed. He had a bird within range and well in his sight. However, the bird was so small and it was moving at a high speed. How would Koaru manage to hit it? He reflected back on his day dream he had a few moments ago about his clan ancestors. He acknowledged and redirected his chakra to his eyes. All the while he jumped onto land and into the forest. He bobbed and weaved through many branches and shrubbery for the sake of keeping up with one of the birds he was tracking. His eyes began to deviate as more and more chakra seeped into them. Every artery connected to his eyes pulsated with blood. With his eyes still fixated on the bird furiously flapping its wings and flying in a zig zag pattern, the image went in and out of focus in extremity, through Koaru’s perception. “No! I have to funnel the chakra precisely,” he instructed himself. He did just that and, to his surprise, it worked. He bird was flying in perfect clarity. His view of the bird got closer and closer even though the distance between the bird and the boy was not getting any smaller. The scope of his vision was increasing still, and Koaru could see past the feathers, and the tissue. He saw a franticly beating heart, vigorously pumping pair of lungs and even the bird’s small brain. He now had to make sure he could stabilize manipulating his chakra in multiple places. In a fluid motion, while still dashing to keep on the bird’s tail, Koaru scooped up a pebble roughly the size of his fingernail, and then tossed it at the bird. He then molded more chakra and executed a string of hand signs before emitting another gale of wind. In an instant, the pebble rode the wind and spewed through the other side of the animal. In a flustered manner, the bird flopped to the ground, dead. Koaru collapsed in victory and caught his breath. He managed to enhance his vision just like the stories told by his clan members. He crawled over to the bird for a closer inspection. The bird was not moving at all anymore. After the dust that the gale rustled up had settled, Koaru could see all the features of the bird. Its feathers were rustled by the sudden burst of wind, but were otherwise unchanged. In fact, the only key difference was the gaping whole in the bird’s breast where its heart should have been. The wind enhanced stone had carved a perfect whole in the bird’s flesh. Koaru burst into celebration and laughter. This new development was perfect for his dreams as a shinobi and the fighting style he would use to get there. He knew he was no combat master, that was for sure. However, perhaps he could protect those close to him now. There were many damsels depending on him, after all…

Koaru took a well deserved rest, but after a while, was determined to get back to his training. He skipped treetops and made his way back to the training grounds, were many Konoha shinobi like himself took the time to train and become stronger. He had previously learned to improve his accuracy with a dojutsu unique to his family. With it, Koaru took down a bird by sticking through its heart with deadly accuracy. If he was to have a skill like this, he would have to get it under his belt, and fast. He leaped off the final treetop before descending into the training field. Koaru stretched his limbs and let out frequent sighs. Normally, the boy had no interest in activity such as this. Sweat was unattractive to him, and more importantly, it was unappealing to the ladies, and he could not have that messing up his game. After stretching, Koaru faced a few dummies strapped to training posts. One was particularly battered, and the hay where the head would have been was scattered wildly like a mane. Koaru's cheeks became rosy, as it reminded him of a girl with long, flowing hair. "Maybe I'll even meet a few babes after a hard day's training," he fantasized with a sinister look in his eye. He snapped out of his trance when he noticed he was not alone in the training field...

How many times had the youthful Uchiha journeyed along the dirt path to find himself training within the confines of the gated training grounds? How many times had this one challenged his superiors to battle without hope of victory, but a need for the acceptance and acknowledgement of another. This one, Kenzo Uchiha, the One True Friend of the Flame, journeyed on a familiar path of dirt. Small, muscular legs carried the meager Uchiha towards the gate of the training grounds, which he only ever so slowly.

Curious eyes fell upon his figure, observing the grace and posture of the bandaged child. Those eyes, the eyes of watching shinobi, saw his long raven black hair as it whipped wildly in the wind. Those eyes, the eyes of the starstruck females, focused upon Kenzo's bare chest and stomach, though his entire right arm was wrapped in bandages. Those eyes, the eyes of Kenzo's competition, saw his small hands slides ever-so-smoothly into the black pockets of his Dark Battle Pants as he stepped through the gates, and closed it behind himself. The most astonishing events, if not the whipping of Kenzo's silky strands of hair and the single step he toke, were the steps he did not take, for as the gate swung shut behind him the small child's body began to raise from the ground, leaving the earth charred were he once stood.

He hovered a foot above the ground, and his body slowly drifted forwards as though the wind had been carrying his figure, but it was not the wind; any doujutsu user would be able to see the minuscule amount of Katon chakra seeping from his small, toned, body. He turned his head to the right seeking a competitor, but all he could find were groups of females that giggled and blushed as he looked in their direction before whispering among themselves. He paid them no attention however as they marveled at his presence, for he had come here not to flirt but to train.

Koaru’s day dreaming had been disrupted by the sound of love sickness that were not his own. Some kunoichi were fussing over something some few meters away, near the gate entrance. Their giggles and sighs of pleasure sent a flurry of emotions to the young ninja’s mind. At first, he was excited and was filled with more joy than his thin body could handle. Next, however, Koaru was flushed with rage, because it was not he the girls were making a fuss over. A young shinobi was apparently hovering among the crowd of women, and had seemingly entered for the sole purpose of stealing everything koaru loved and cherished: the admiration of a female. Koaru’s bottom lip puffed up and he crossed his arms in a tense rage. He would not stand for this.

He marched over to the source of commotion, whipping his long, dreaded hair that followed behind him. Dust arose from each step, demonstrating Koaru’s annoyance, as the pace of each step increased. Soon, his march turned into a sprint. In a matter of seconds, Koaru was at arm’s length of the only other male ninja on the training grounds. Koaru inspected him head to toe, then to toe to head. His inspection was cut short when he noticed the boy’s eyes, which gleamed a sinister red. The boy had never seen the likes of the Sharingan. Koaru let out a defiant “humph” and breezed right passed the ninja and rushed to the flock of girls who had a disgusted look on their faces due to Koaru’s arrival. “Ladies, ladies. What are you all doing over here next to this guy? He’s a total loser! Come, let the grand master Koaru show you how a REAL ninja trains,” he coaxed the women. He zipped from one girl to the next in a desperate attempt to win them over, but all appeared hopeless. Not one girl among them seem impressed. In fact, they expressed their lack of interest with a firm pound to Koaru’s thick skull. The ninja laid in the dust in dismay, and his eyes rose once more upon the skinny kid with the long black hair and burning red eyes…

[Voiding the activation of Kenzo's Sharingan. His eyes are not active at the moment. I rarely use them.]

Kenzo raised an eyebrow as that vile sound met his ears...

"Humph..."

Such disrespect could only originate from one of Konoha's shinobi. The children, those that had not been engaging in training or taking classes at the academy, all knew who Kenzo was. He had made a name for himself since his first blazing incident. They knew him as the Friend of the Flame, for wherever there was fire, Kenzo followed, and vice-verse. Perhaps this babbling male did not know who Kenzo was. Perhaps this babbling male had a death wish? Kenzo was not intrigued, but he did feel like teach the brat a thing or two. It wouldn't be a complete waste of his time, after all, Kenzo came here to fight.

Those small, pink lips did not part to speak with the boy who had called Kenzo out, for he had no words to spill. Instead, Kenzo landed softly on the ground, and created a number of hand seals as those muscular legs carried him forward towards his chosen opponent. Those females began to back away from Koaru as they witnessed the ominous ripple in the air before Kenzo that distorted his appearance greatly. As they backed away, Kenzo fired a single 2 centimeter wide fireball from his fingertip. The blazing orb sliced through the air, leaving a blurred orange streak in its wake that swiftly dissipated. The orb would cut past Koaru's face, separating him and the females from each other as a wave of heat kissed his flesh dangerously. That simply wave of heat was strong enough to burn Koaru's face, though it was not hot enough to leave a visible scar or mark. Kenzo made sure of that. This attack was Saisho no Hono, the first of all flames that signaled Kenzo's challenge.

"..."

If, and when, Koaru turned to gaze at Kenzo's figure, Kenzo would be standing with his feet together, and his toes pointed in Koaru's direction. The most noticeable feature upon Kenzo's visage was not his stance however, it was his hands. His right hand was held in front of his chest in the form of the Seal of Confrontation.

Koaru rose into a kneeling position, with one knee still on the ground, as the opposing boy descended from his brief flight. Now directly in front of the boy, Koaru felt a wave of heated air as he did so, and Koaru wondered if that ninja’s head was the source, as it too was full of hot air. Koaru’s eyes widened as the boy’s only response to the earlier occurrence between Koaru and the girls was to commence a string of hand seals. Koaru’s face suddenly tensed up as he extended his arm to warn the innocent women behind him to get away. A breeze blew by as the tension between the two boys grew more and more palpable. In a flash, before Koaru could even so much as blink, an orange flash zipped past his cheek, searing his right cheek. Koaru could have sworn the burst of flame had originated from the kid’s fingers. With widened eyes, Koaru got on his feet and dashed to his right. With one hand covering his scathed cheek and the other arm flailing in the air, Koaru scrambled towards the pond and splashed water on his face.

“WAAAAAAH! NOT THE FACE!” he gurgled with a face full of water.

Koaru’s demeanor flickered in an instant. Despite his act, Koaru knew exactly what he was doing, by running toward the pond. As he had suspected, that ninja was utilizing Fire style ninjutsu, and because Koaru himself did not know any Water style jutsu to counter, utilizing the water from the pond may be necessary. Furthermore, he had successfully distanced himself some 15 meters from his attacker. Koaru was now position directly to the right of him. Now standing to face his opponent, kunai in both hand pointing at the ninja, Koaru glared. His eyes glowed an aqua blue with patterns riddling his iris and pupil. Chakra had been emanating from the boy’s fingers, as he suspected. He also noticed the boy’s heart beat was steady, and deduced that there was no adrenaline present. If the boy had no quarrel with him, what was he attacking innocent people for?

“Just who the hell do you think you are, anyway?” Koaru gritted.

Kenzo watched as the other male sprinted for the small pond. The sight itself was amusing, at least it might have been amusing to another. However, Kenzo could not have a moment of mirth for in the past two months his performance had slacked far too much. He was just getting back into shape, and he needed to test his abilities. It was apparent to Kenzo, as the strange young man posed a simple question, that this boy did not take part in his villages customs because he had not shown that he recognized the Seal of Confrontation. It was tradition to form the Seal of Confrontation before every battle within the walls of Konoha. This was basic training from Konoha's ninja academy. Regardless, the boy would have his answer. As Kenzo lowered his hand, his previous attack was nearing it's range and limit, so, naturally, it exploded, roaring in the distance loud enough for both Kenzo and Koaru to hear as light shined bright from an adjacent battlefield. Only after the grounds were silent did Kenzo answer,

"A real ninja..."

A strong gust of wind blew through the forest, snatching leaves from the tree branches they had been perched upon , and flinging them into the air. Those leaves fluttered to the ground all around Kenzo and Kaoru as they stood staring each other down.

Koaru let the boy’s words sink in, and blinked heavily. His eyes shot back open when the little fireball from earlier popped and sizzled like a sparkler. Some jutsu. He scoffed at his arrogance and loosened his footing when he saw Kenzo lowering his seal of confrontation. The kunai he held was now in only one hand. As the wind blew, Koaru’s dreads scurried about his head. He tapped his forehead protector bearing the Konoha insignia twice with the kunai knife as he formed his next words. “Listen, bastard. That seal is only  for acquaintances. You’ll have to introduce yourself before sparring if you don’t want me to seriously kick your ass!” Koaru explained. He knew all too well the customs of Konoha, though he had moved here as a child and lived on the outskirts of the village. A seal of confrontation was always met with a seal of recognition post-spar to acknowledge that the two were still friends after the match was over. But, how could that acknowledgement be made when Koaru did not even know the other ninja’s name?

Koaru’s expression softened. He used his free hand to form a thumbs up gesture and jabbed his thumb into the chest space in between where his pectoral muscles protruded. He started, “My name is Koaru. Koaru Garinado. And frankly, I am done talking.” Koaru knew the type of personality Kenzo had. He was the kind of “know it all” shinobi who would outperform Koaru at every chance he got. On top of that, Koaru knew Kenzo probably thought he was soo handsome. A smirk rose upon Koaru’s face as he forced air out of his nostrils in annoyance. The thumb against his chest rose while leaves scattered about his figure with the wind. The thumb retracted and  Koaru’s hand transitioned into the sign of confrontation. Koaru was expecting an appropriate introduction from the ninja who seemed to speak very few words.

"Kenzo Uchiha..."

The name fell from the eight year old's mouth smoothly and calmly, hiding his true feeling towards the punk that stood before him. Though Kenzo's voice was monotone, the angle of his eyebrows made the truth evident to all who were watching; Kenzo was angry. There had only been one who dared to test Kenzo's emotions. That person, Kenzo's older brother, had been sent to the hospital to recuperate, but Kenzo never saw him again. Kenzo kept his calm as long as he could. He reached into his back pocket before retrieving his own Kunai and his headband. After swiftly positioning his headband upon his forehead, Kenzo created few handseals, and a blade of grass at his right side ignited spontaneously.

The fire spread a meter away from Kenzo before a flaming arm could be seen reaching out of the fire towards the heavens above as though it had successful escaped the depths of hell. That flaming hand smashed it's palm into the ground, and pushed off of the floor, lifting more of it's body from the ground. Now, the entire flaming torso of a small boy was protruding from the ground. That small boy was obviously struggling, but succeed he did. After pulling his body from the ground below, the small flaming body rose to a stand before sprinting at Koaru with a speed of 45, leaving the grass behind his body charred and lifeless. Kenzo simply shook his head as his heart began to pump faster.

The flames upon the flesh of the unknown male would vanish into thin air, revealing it to be nothing more than a clone of Kenzo. That clone would extend it's right hand across his chest, and, if Koaru hadn't moved by the time the distance was closed, the clone would swing it's arm so that the back og it's fist would smash into Koaru's face, knocking him into the pond.
