Ryota dug his gloved hands into the dirt, creating an evenly shaped hole for a small sapling. He carefully removed the sapling from its plastic pot and placed it into the hole, patting soil down on all sides of it. Looking up, he saw that there were still many plants to be planted, and weeds to be de-weeded. Another E-Rank mission had been assigned to Ryota, but this time it was, at least, something he could appreciate. An elderly couple had allowed their garden to fall into a dilapidated state, and he was assigned to restore it to something that their neighbors could be proud of. After only planting one sapling, Ryota decided it would be better to remove all the weeds and clutter first, so that is what he did. Vines, weeds, ivy; any unwanted plants were removed at the root and bagged up for disposal. He had started to work up a bit of a sweat, so he took a break to drink some water.

Life in the city had been good to Ryota, up until now, and he was satisfied with his day-to-day routine. However, it felt to him as if something was missing. What that "something" was, he was not sure of, but that void he felt was unmistakable. With a hearty sigh, Ryota cast these thoughts aside and returned back to work. The weeds were almost entirely taken care of, and after a few short minutes, he had the area entirely taken care of. Now, it was on to the planting.

On his hands and knees, Ryota went through the saplings systematically; a 6 inch hole was dug, a sapling was deftly laid into the hole, fertilizers were added, then the soil was replaced over-top of the hole, ad-nauseam. It was monotonous, repetitive work, but Ryota didn't mind that. Working with his hands had always satisfied the boy, and it was rewarding to see his progress in real time as he went through his cycle. As it often did, his mind began to drift as he labored; he daydreamed of what mysteries must await in the world that he has yet to see. The jutsu, artifacts, knowledge and creatures that exist across the mountains and oceans. Once he had the strength and funds, he had his mind set on exploring the world. However, these chrysanthemums had to be planted first in order to achieve that.

Orange-purple light radiated from the sky as the temperature began to drop, and Ryota was shocked at how long he had spent on this task. Quickly, he put the finishing touches on his landscaping project; watering everything that he had planted, fixing up the couple's wooden fence, sweeping up any loose dirt and removing all of the plant waste. Finally, he gathered up all of his tools and placed them in the bag he had been given. Ryota gave the garden a look-over, and he was proud of what he had accomplished. The area looked distinctly improved, so, on the note, Ryota informed the elderly couple of the job's completion and made his departure.
