The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Wed Oct 02, 2019 1:37 am
Today the instructor at the academy had scolded Persona severely. He relived the memory within his head...

The instructor walked into the classroom like any other day. Everyone of the students were already seated before he walked in and started lecturing. Persona was staring at his friend Midorikawa who had been nose deep in a book. He couldn't possibly understand wanting to read more about ninja techniques when they, for the most part of the day, were being lectured on it. Persona's brain wouldn't be capable of processing all of this information on battle tactics with the addition of history from books and words of mouth. He was miserable on this day, contemplating his beginning struggle with academics. This had never happened to Persona. He was always average score wise except when it came to actually fighting.
The instructor coughed to get everyone's attention. This was his sign of letting everyone know that class was starting. As the time flew by, Persona found the laws of gravity to be applying to his head. The instructor saw this and threw chalk at him. It hit his head, leaving a white mark on it. The instructor then asked Persona what the key difference between kunai and shuriken were to which Persona replied, "There was none. You just got to stick the enemy with the pointy end."
The class got a kick out of this. The whole classroom was in a upraur as everyone was laughing. The instructor's face grew red with his anger boiling up like a pot of hot ramen. Persona was made to go home early which never happened before.

-- And this lead up to now. Persona thinking of his instructor's head being full of ramen lead him to decide to go out to Ichiraku's Noodle Bar.

Persona entered the shop, sitting down on one of the seats there. Of course Persona could not afford any actual Ramen. His father had told him if he wanted any ryo he would have to earn it himself. 'Idiot', thought Persona. How could he possibly earn any ryo as an academy student? Luckily, the old man here provided Persona with a free Ramen every once in a while, mostly due to the fact that he hovers around the area like a dog sniffing for scraps. This time around, the old man gave him a free Ramen too. "Don't tell anyone", he would say. "It's bad for business", he would say. Koeda would hop out of Persona's hoodie, grab a handful of noodles and go back in just as he had come out. Persona wouldn't even take a glance at the noodles that would slowly be pulled into his clothing. He had his own problems to eat away.
"Maybe I just need my own Sensei. Some hands on experience", he muttered. The steam from the Ramen made Persona's nose become drippy. At this point Persona looked like a wreck. He even snapped one of his chopsticks in half with his fist in anger. He threw the broken pieces on the ground, getting up. 'I need something to relieve the pain', he thought. Persona looked around and saw a white bottle on the table. It was on the outside of the man's arm. Persona knew he shouldn't drink, but he had seen many adults in his life time do so to relieve their pain. Persona reached his hand out to grab the sake.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Today wasn't so great. Nothing particularly bad had happened, but once again her endeavor to root out certain people in the village had proven fruitless. The evidence against them so far was sketchy at best, and the only two people in the village currently aware of her efforts were herself and Kinzoku. Maybe she needed to enlist the help of Ita. His actions were almost always on the down low, and he may just hold some information she was seeking. Currently patrolling the street in her standard uniform, consisting of black boots, pants, a black shirt with sleeves rolled up to her elbows, and her armor layered over the top of it all, she couldn't help but feel sour about the difficulty in finding proper evidence.

Her destination so happened to have her passing by one of the more popular noodle bars in the village, which was extremely convenient, considering her appetite. Before entering the shop, she secured her shoulder length raven hair into a tight ponytail. The aroma of beef stock and pork permeated the inside of the shop. Such delectable scents made Risako's desire to begin her meal much greater than she would care to admit. Within the shop she only counted an elderly couple sitting on the far end of the bar, and a younger looking child a few seats down.

Whatever kind of bad mood her day had imposed upon her couldn't be as bad as that of the child's After all, Risako did just watch him break a chopstick in half and then litter. She had no intention of interrupting or trying to console the child, the kid's business was his own. At least she hadn't intended to do so, until he made a frustrated attempt for the alcohol bottle.

Unfortunately enforcing the laws of the village was a part of her duty, and allowing children to become alcoholics was never really good for society anyways. Her presence in the shop would be announced by the rather loud statement of "Hands off the bottle." Afterwards, she would make her way over to an empty seat next to the boy.

If he would not comply with the command, Risako would use a more straightforward, physical approach. Whether or not she would have to get physical she would go on to say: "Alcohol isn't for minors, and trash doesn't belong on the floor." While her tone was brusque, she wasn't being scornful.

However scolding someone rarely ever solved anything. After all, it was easy to be an asshole, but how can you help someone without figuring out why they're behaving the way they are? It was rather easy to tell that he was acting off of our emotion rather than rational thought. If the boy looked her in the eye he would see two silver irises staring back at him. The more keen of the populace might have noted a similarity to the Byaakugan in her eyes. Speaking of being keen on details, it wasn't hard to tell that this strange boy was upset about something, given the obvious display of dramatics.

"What's wrong?", she questioned in a restrained manner.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

The man to whom's Sake bottle Persona had been reaching out for turned his head over in the direction of his Sake at the woman's loud statement. "Hey, gimme that", he slurred. The man took the Sake bottle and drank from it. He did it so viciously that the alcohol was pouring over the outside of his face. Persona stared at the man, disgusted. That would have been Persona if he had taken the bottle. Then again what would it really matter at that point. Persona did still have chalk in his hair, a noodle hanging out of his hoodie, and a drippy nose.
Persona did know one thing for sure. He didn't like strangers commanding him on what to do. He turned his attention, clearly agitated towards the woman. Hopping up on the chair next to her, she had asked, "What's wrong?" Persona could write 20 scrolls worth of text explaining what was wrong with his life. Persona looked her in the eye. She had some strange eyes. It was similar to his own, but not quite. 'Maybe a cousin doijutsu that split off down the line like the Sharingan', he thought taking note.
Persona decided to keep his complaints short for the benefit of them both. "The academy is kicking my ass", he said bluntly. An uppity lady nearby glanced at Persona who had cursed. Persona ignored the uppity lady. 'I can curse all I want to', he thought. Persona shook his head. "Say Miss. Why did you stop me?", he asked seriously. Persona didn't know what business it was of the woman to get involved with an academy student like himself. He knew what he did was wrong, but it's not like this woman was a guard. 'Was she?', he thought. It wasn't any of the guards he was familiar with, but then again he knew about almost no one. All Persona had in his life was his family, his few friends at the academy and a few strange figures that passed him by while training.
Koeda stuck his head out from the neck opening of his hoodie. Koeda stared at the woman and chittered at her kindly. 'Did Koeda like her?', he thought. Koeda grabbed the noodle that was still hanging from his hoodie. Jumping out of Persona's clothing, he landed on the woman's shoulder. The small flying squirrel lifted his noodle up to the woman. 'Was it a gift, an offering, or what', he thought confused. Persona had never seen Koeda act out like this before. It certainly was unusual.

Persona waited to see how the woman would react to his statement and Koeda's course of action.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Fortunately the owner of the bottle snatched it away from the youth after her own declaration. Unfortunately he made a poor showing as a drunken buffoon. Risako swiveled in her chair so that her body would be facing the bar, but kept her eyes locked with the child's. He seemed to hail from the Hyuuga clan, a family tree she had a little too much experience with for her own liking. It was easy to tell by his expression that the boy was angered with her interruption, but tough stuff. Academy frustrations were understandable, though. Underage drinking was a no no 'round these parts, at least if she had any say over the matter. He went on to question why she had stopped him, when the answer was pretty obvious.

"You're underage, you shouldn't be taking to a bottle for relief," she said. "Go exercise or train, put your frustration towards something that betters yourself." Her tone lacked malice, and she had hoped he'd walk away with a proper life lesson, that being that alcohol isn't a cure. As she spoke, some little rat squirrel rodent creature left its hiding place in the boy's hood. It appeared to be offering her a noodle, to which she would hold up a hand to gesture no to the creature. No offense, but she wasn't keen on eating noodles that had been in the hands of rodents hiding in hoods.

There wasn't a whole lot Risako recalled from the academy. Most of the information they taught seemed rather obvious to her now, but then again she spent her time fighting her peers to assert dominance. The lunches sucked though, but speaking of lunch, that's why she was here. "Mr. Noodles, I'd like a bowl," she said as she waved to the man behind the counter. Since she hadn't specified what she wanted her bowl would consist of noodles in pork broth, with none of the fancy toppings.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Persona listened to the woman who scolded him. He then shook his head once she finished her statement. "That's not what I meant and you know it. What I meant was why are YOU the one here enforcing the law. Isn't that supposed to be the job of the Police Force here or guards. Who even are you?", countered Persona. He looked at the woman's armor that she wore. Only a shinobi or a warrior of sorts would wear battle armor. This got Persona thinking, maybe the solution to his problem was right in front of him.
Persona watched the woman decline Koeda's noodle. Koeda looked at her hand that had gestured no to him. The squirrel held the noodle above her hand thinking maybe that her hand was just obscuring her vision from the noodle. After all, no one could possibly decline a tasty noodle. At least that was the squirrels string of logic. But alas, the woman shook her head at the poor small squirrel. Koeda looked distraught, for to decline his noodle meant she must be declining his friendship. Koeda slurped the noodle, pushing it into his mouth with his hands at the same time.
Persona resumed his course of thought. "I always train, miss. I train days in and nights out. I train in the woods, in the water, everywhere! I do training that would break lesser shinobi. What I really need is....is a proper teacher! One that can teach me in ways I can understand, in the ways of the battlefield.", he says. Persona eyed the woman expectantly. He had hoped that this woman was powerful. Not only that, that she was willing to teach himself on how to be powerful too. At the academy there is a lot of talk about enemy villages and past wars. He had to be prepared for whatever may come at him. Whether that be Hoshians or what, he did not know. No one could know what the future holds for them.
Her bowl of noodles that she had just ordered came out. The bowl looked rather bland. Koeda sniffed at it. It wasn't the squirrel's favorite, but when had Koeda ever really been picky on what he shoved into his squirrel mouth. The squirrel crouched and slowly crawled its way to the bowl of noodles. Koeda was hoping the woman's attention would be more focused on Persona if anything else. At that moment the squirrel made an attempt to swipe a Koeda size hand full of noodles from her bowl. Persona could see Koeda attempting to do this from the other side of the woman. He played it off though, not letting his eyes give away Koeda's actions. He wanted to see how perceptive this woman was. Was she more than just a human? Her power level was a mystery to him. "Well, what do you say Miss?", asked Persona.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Risako noted that this was not one, but now two aspiring shinobi who failed to know her name. A year's time had passed and she was already forgotten? Demoralizing for sure. Her tone had a certain air of sarcasm to it as she spoke her name, "Risako Akara, and as a shinobi it's my duty to enforce the laws of the village." Besides, enforcing the law was every citizen's duty to an extent, so long as they don't put themselves in danger.

The boy went on to say that he trained day in, and day out. In the kitchen, the forest, everywhere he could possibly practice, the boy practiced. Being pressured by your elders was a common thing in every part of the lands that Risako knew. Through her experience none pressured their sons harder than the Hyuuga clan, and it seemed this boy was no exception. Why else would he be lashing out in such a manner? At least, she assumed this was his story. At the end of his statement he seemed to indicate that a teacher would be a boon to his efforts. Conveniently, just as her dish arrived.

The woman looked at her bowl and began to eat noodles without so much as a word. Her focus was somewhere off about a foot from the bowl, behind the counter. Staring at nothing in particular, her thoughts hearkened back to a much simpler time. Poor old Mako was briefly remembered as she swallowed a noodle. A hand was moved to block the encroaching rodent's access to her noodles, and at this rate he'd be lucky to receive table scraps.

At the boy's nudging of the situation, when he prodded the issue with a more direct request, Risako stood from her seat. She began to dig around her pockets for cash to pay the noodle man. Upon scrounging the necessary pocket change she placed the money onto the counter along with a rubber ball roughly the size of quarter. "Bring that ball to the training grounds before the sun comes up tomorrow. Stay away from booze."

The boy had been ordered his commands, and with that she took her leave of this situation for the day. After all, she had to find Jason and Ita still.

The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara) Empty Re: The Calling Of a Sensei? ((P) Persona&RisakoAkara)

Koeda, crawling up to the edge of the bowl of the noodles that had been placed, found that his path to getting a noodle had been blocked. Risako's hand was placed disapprovingly in front of the small squirrel. Risako wouldn't take his offered noodles and wouldn't let Koeda have some of her's. The squirrel gave up, saddened. The squirrel lept from the tabletop back to Persona. He crawled up his arm and re-entered his hoodie from the neck hole. The squirming of the squirrel moving around and getting comfortable inside of Persona's hoodie could be seen.
'Risako Akara...', Persona thought.  At least, Persona was right in that Risako was a Shinobi. He didn't however know her rank. Not knowing the rank of your master... 'Well it's discouraging to think that she might end up weaker than me', he thought. That was the risk Persona was willing to take if it meant getting stronger. Persona flinched at the idea that everyone here was supposed to enforce the rules. He didn't think anyone outside of those who graduated from the academy had remotely cared about the rules and even then it was mostly left to some kind of military police. Maybe Persona had been wrong after all. In fact, he doesn't know if a military police force still existed. He never seen them, only heard about them sometimes in books he was forced to read.
Risako had stood to her feet. She placed a ball on the table, instructing Persona to take it to the training grounds. As Risako turned to leave, Persona grabbed the ball. 'Interesting', he thought, wondering what he was going to do with the ball. Persona put it into his tool pouch he had carried with him. Persona turned to watch Risako leave from Ichiraku Noodles. She walked with a certain confidence. Persona wanted to be able to walk just like her, with the confidence of a person who knows they can stand up for themselves and face anyone.
When Risako was completely out of sight, Persona had took that as his signal to leave for himself. He got up, placed his feet on the ground and went home for the day. Tomorrow he would arrive at the training grounds. Tomorrow, just maybe he would be able to gain the thing he was missing, the thing that he needed. A sensei who could give him the strength he needed to graduate and to become a Genin. Koeda was pumped for some training too.
Persona laid in his bed that night, thinking out every possible situation that could happen tomorrow. Persona's surge of energy, got Koeda up, curious to what he was doing. The squirrel nuzzled Persona, trying to remind him that he needed sleep in order to be able to even stand up right tomorrow. "I know. I know", said Persona. He put his sheet over his head going to sleep. Koeda crawled under the sheet with him, curling up into his ball, he closed his eyes in slumber. That night it rained which allowed Persona to sleep deeply as white noise had always soothed him.
