E - Rank Mission: Meet and Greet

Duty, a time in one's life were they are excepted to give up a large portion of their time so the rest of village can remain a peaceful. This time can vary from something like first responders who react to emergency events like fires to border patrol were a group of ninjas patrols the border for any signs of danger to the village. Today Kari had a particular duty, one she preferred to be assigned to someone else. The job today was to watch the gate and vet those coming in. Sure it sound easy but Kari was not much of a people person. Her trouble of properly responding to things would turn off people who did not know her and make things involving interacting with others more challenging. The girl was use to this now sense the secretaries continued to send on these style of missions and jobs but she could not help but question if they could be better utilizing their resources. Then again, this job did not require her to be friendly so maybe it would not be too bad.

Kari stood over behind the gate review her mission scroll and objective. It was her first time standing this type of watch, so she wanted to be sure she was doing it properly. She wore her usual cloak though it was a lighter color one, which was white with a plum outlining. She had on dark purple shorts and two puppets wrapped in bandages on her back in such a way that it would hide their shape. She preferred to be noticed more quickly instead of being ignored and easily overlooked. Should someone see the purple star at the bottom of cloak or her headband clasp and run, she would know that they were trouble. With trouble came the possibility of testing out her new puppet. If that happened then maybe, this could be a more beneficial mission than she originally thought.

She was not the only ninja out here. 3 other genin and one chunin were assigned to the watch team though everyone's job was different. Two of the genin would take turns patrolling the area. One genin greeted everyone and answered questions new comers had and the chunnin was overall in charge. Kari's duties involved verifying approvals for people leaving and returning to the village. In addition, she was assigned to interrogate those who wished to enter the village. Despite this, the chunnin, Moto, decided that it would be more efficient to have Kari assist in the greeting of visitors. This meant she would be working with the Genin known as Kiba. He was senior to Kari, in fact, the whole watch team was senior to her which meant she would get extra duties like running errands and cleaning duties. It also did not help that the team did not really like her. They all viewed her as weird and found her way of speaking and general lack of expressions off putting. This made the watch only that much more tedious since the Chunnin would overlook any pranks or insults thrown her way. It was life as usual and another reason she never pushed to be on a team outside of duty.

"Tsukami-san, you have permission to smile," Kiba found time to taunt the girl with the lack of visitors.

Kari let out a sigh doing her best to ignore him. However this was not his first rodeo with the girl. He knew her values exceptionally well.

"Oh to think the Tsukami family was so rude to those senior to them."

Kari turned her head into the boy's direction just enough to see him in the corner of her eye. He had a white smile on this face. It was a smile hot like the dessert sand in the middle of the day.
"We are both genin. You hold seniority only in time of rank Kiba-san."
"Hey pay attention, someone is walking up to us robo girl," he started to snicker, "remember to turn on your smile setting.

Kari wanted to correct him but the visitor was approaching. The job came first, even if it was not her job. As the visitor walked up, their face was covered and they wore long black clothing, which covered up most of their body. Poking out of their sleeve, Kari could see a few thin fingers, which made her believe the person was female. This assumption was further justified by the fact that she was too tall to be a child. The outfit style was also something she never seen before. It was not a ninja style, nor did it appear to give any benefit to the woman in terms of stealth when one inspected the roads. Still her attire was just too foreign and the village was still recovering from the tail beast attack.

"Greetings. We are sorry to bother you could you come with me."

The visitor stopped in front of the girl with her head turned down to look at the small ninja. She did not respond, staring at Kari as if the girl was an attraction. Kari's expression did not break or change. As long as the woman did not try to pass her, she was okay with standing here all day, well at least until her watch was over. That would not be the case as the woman nodded her head and followed Kari into a private room.

"May I have your name?"
"Liu Shari"
"Is this your first visit into the village?"
"Yes."
"Do you have any paperwork granting you access into the village?"
"No."
"May I request your intentions?"
"I see refuge. My town was attacked by bandits. My husband told be to come here for safety. He said he would return."

Kari nodded, but was a little worried about this story. Kari received no word about a bandit attack. It was another thing to add against the mysterious about the woman. Still, Kari wondered if maybe it was possible to get some of this information cleared out. When one needed help, the should ask their superiors. Kari walked to the door holding the notes she took down.
"Please wait one moment Shari-san."

Kari returned to the gate where the Moto and the two patrol Genin were discussing something. It could be important but Kari thought the woman's story could be of value as well. So she walked up the the 3 and took a deep breath.
"Sempai, my apologizes for interrupting but..."
"Apologizes, Don't you think you should wait till I am ready to hear you?" Moto scolded.
Kari gave a bow hoping it would calm him down, "I, ahh... sorry... but this is important."
"I think that is my decision. Just like, it is your decision to be disrespectful, Tsukami-san."
Kari rose up and took a step back. It was clear he did not want to listen, leaving her to wait while the three returned to their conversation. Still, she was insisted on passing her message. As she stood there, she overheard pieces of the conversation. Apparently, there was another bandit attack on the border and a few refugees were heading their way. This meant that the woman's story was true, at least enough for her to be guided to the refugee building. So she returned to the woman.

"We apologize Shari-san for the wait. Could we get your husbands information. It would make his process go by a little smoother."
The woman complied, being as polite as possible, "His name is Iarh Shari,. He is my height, a little stocky, tan skin."
"Does he have any defining features?"
"He has a scar on his cheek, a cross shaped cut if you will, thick eye browns, beautiful white teeth..." The woman continue to list features praising her man to the point that just calling him an angel would be more useful. Still, Kari took it all down and then called in Kiba.

"I need you to escort her to the refuge area Kiba-san."
"You need? I am senior to you. You should be more respectful, Tsukami-san."
Kari just looked at him, unsure how to respond. Her mind ran rampant trying to find the best way to hasten the turn of events so she could get what she wants.
"Sempai, may you please guide this refugee to the refuge area."
"There's that Tsukami etiquette I know. Sure thing," He raised his hand and patted Kari on her head with a huge grin, one so cold that sucked the warm from the air. Still, it meant he would do his job and leave. Kari watched quietly at her silent victory. With that, she returned to the gates and and resume standing watch. The day was going to be long as she watched Kiba return and Moto continue conversing with the patrol genin but at least it would end in a few hours.
