The day of the bookworm Empty The day of the bookworm

Thu Aug 10, 2017 12:35 am
It was morning in the Kaguya household and the young girl was in the garden. She wore her trainings clothes and was trying with her sword as her father approached her. He wanted to see what she had learned so fare and she would spare with him a little. In the end he came to show her the armour Jutsu again as she said she could not do it still. So he performed in front of her again. While he did she ran her hands across his back where she could feel his bones moving beneath his skin. She smiled softly and nodded. It was amazing how strong it felt, solid as a rock below and much stronger than it was when she did it so she blinked amazed. Then he made her try it.
As he saw how she was concentrating her chakra inside of her he helped her fix her stance so that it would be easier for her to focus and be in tune with her body. While she was concentrating on her jutsu she could feel his fingers massaging down her spine and it felt relaxing. Her bones seemed to be modelling much easier. She smiled because this was the first time he was helping her to do something instead of punishing her for not being able to do it in the first place. His hands were gently massaging over her back that was kind of hardening slowly into the armour that her body was becoming so she could feel the pressure on her jutsu that was creating a second skin for her. She took deep breaths while trying to make it come to life. Then she felt the knocking on her shoulder plates with which he tested the strength of her bones that were supposed to protect her. With a sign he shook his head and said that this is not good enough to hold something back from attacking her. He demonstrated a hit to her chest and she felt it crackling. A shiver went down her spine and she was taking a deep breath. He was right, it was still not good enough to withhold any damage from her it could be a danger because crackling bones could pierce inner organs and hurt her even more. That would be uncomfortable hurtful. So she argued with herself, that she would still go on and train it even more to perfect it. Her father gently rubbed over her head and kissed her forehead as a kind of reward. Silently whispering that he loved her for what she was. Then the both of them went inside to get some breakfast before she went for her next job.

A few moment later she was up and ready to go to get some research about Hoshi. At least this was her task because soon she would be given the task to show some people around the town so she needed to know what to show them and what to tell them. So she was now walking towards the library that was holding all the important information she would be searching for. This was the first time for her to see the big Kozai Yuki National Archives that were holding not only documents and papers but also the largest library by fare in the country. Slowly the girl walked towards the building and for obvious reasons she felt small not only small but shrinking tiny like an ant walking into a house of a human. She got a feeling of insignificant and somehow stupid compared to the knowledge that was inside of this building. So slowly she walked towards the doors and opened them. They were massive and heavy so she needed to put some force into it as she was pulling on the handle to get it open. Then she quickly pushed past it as it started to close again and falling into place again behind her. Slowly she looked around in amazement. Books over books and even more books she was pretty amazed while she was slowly walking towards the counter where a young man was currently sorting out some files.
Slowly and still in wonder about this gigantic palace of wisdom and memories she walked to the counter towards the man who was not really paying attention to her. With a soft clearing of her throat and a gentle greeting she could make him recognize her and he kind of smiled at her but the smile never reflected from his eyes. She then asked him where she could find the books that would show her details about Hoshigakure and its sights and people. On a piece of paper he noted her floor, sections and shelf numbers of things that might interest her. She thanked him while bowing down to him and holding the paper to her heart. Then she started walking looking at the paper. There was something about history that was close by so she went there first. In a section about the history before the Shinobi she took a book that gave a quick reminder of the most important points in what happened before the City was taking in ninja and then a little further behind a book about how it was that Shinobi were accepted and implemented into society. With those she sat down a while reading in a sitting corner of the floor she was in. Mumbling about facts she was grasping so she was not forgetting them she then returned the books to their shelves and then went on.
So the girl went to another floor another section this time about monuments taking a book about the great buildings of Hoshigakure. In an armchair she leaned back opening the book finding information about the big palace about the artistic intentions of the shapes of towers and the usage of materials. Why this stone and not that one why have it either rounded or pointy then otherwise. It was kind of boring but if she wanted to show people around this was the kind of stuff she needed to know. Then also about the library, who built it and when, what the floors were for and why there where both spiral stairs between the floors and separate stairways that where connecting all floors together. This was because first there where only those spiral stairs scattered around the floors connecting everything but, not so that you could go from bottom on just one stair so when new safety rules where applied there had to be stairways that would connect the ground floor and the top floor so that in case of an emergency they could be reached easily. These were reasonable changes she thought as she took another book that had more touristic backgrounds.
Where was the nicest looking spot in the park for a nice little picnic? Where there were nice statues or figurative fountains that where nice to look at. Secret street art that was nice to look at or especially old and therefore kind of antic and a nice site for anyone interested of architecture. Then there was entertainment, where one could watch sport events, where to go for a nice night out a book with critics of the local food places. Signing she took it all in and thought about if remembering this was all worth it. Slowly she turned away the book getting one of the cultural places of her hometown, a museum of nature containing exhibits of local fauna and flora, then a gallery with changing themes each quarter and also the library as fountain of wisdom that she was currently drinking from. With some satisfaction in her mind she closed the book and went on to put them back where they belonged. Now she wanted to read something about the Unseen University, although there might not be so much to read about because it was not named unseen for nothing, but still this and the Ninja Academy where things that interested her very much.
So she picked out two books one about each building and nuzzled down in a reading corner slowly letting her eyes fly over the pages, reading, imagining and smiling a lot while doing so. Reading how it came to be and what had been uncovered so far was kind of blissful. 'Seeing the Unseen' had been the title that caught her eye and now and her thoughts trailed of trying to make her see what it was like walking these halls that were described by the person who had written this book. The she turned to the book about the academy that was fully of reports of first students and teachers on how they had seen the life back then with everything being all new and some stuff still in construction. Their feelings of not being really a part and not wanted but still asked to put their lives at risk whenever they needed to work. It sometimes gave her goose bumps when something was mentioned she knew when she had found something that she would feel connected to. People then where just as afraid then people now, maybe even a little more. So she closed the books and also put them back.
As she came down and was walking by the man at the counter she bowed to him smiling and wishing him a nice day. He looked at her in surprise then smiled this time a little more truthfully and nodded wishing her a nice day as well. As she walked out she could see that a good chunk of the day had passed and now she was walking along back home, maybe she could train a little more.
