Medic Senshi Empty Medic Senshi

Fri Mar 03, 2017 1:57 pm
Senshi sat his desk, filling out final reports not only missons he had run, but also on patrols around the village that he had completed. His promotion to Jounin had not lessened the responsibility that he had, instead it had increased it exponentially. It seemed that Jounin were even more understrength than Chuunin were at the moment. Which meant that Senshi’s sleep was suffering even more than it had been before. He released a sigh as he sat back in his chair. He face was relaxed in weariness as he looked around the room he was in. It was the second bedroom to his two bedroom apartment and the one that he had put the most effort into.

It was a simple room with dark cherry wood floors, a single wall was painted a dark red, and the rest of the walls were a light tan. The desk was a dark cherry wood, and the two comfortable love seats across from his desk were the same dark red as the wall. The entire wall of book shelves was also made of a dark cherry wood. Every spot on the book shelves was taken with the many books he had collected from his career thus far and as he looked up from his neat desk he gave another weary sigh. This room allowed him to work on reports and study in peace, but he had found himself in here more often than not lately.

More since his promotion to Chuunin and especially more since his promotion to Jounin. There just seemed to many things to handle, and the now twenty two year old figured that many of these things had been handled by Akihana-sama or even the Lord Raikage. Rolling up the final mission scroll Senshi looked at the small clock he kept on the desk noting that the time was only ten pm. While he was tempted to get up and head to bed he knew that he had things he still needed to handle. Since his promotion he had not studied a third specialization, in order to make him an even more competent shinobi.

He had been tossing back and forth attempting to decide if he should study the esoteric art of Space and time, taijutsu like his teammate Reizo, or even the most rare specialization in Kumo as of yet; medical. He pushed himself up from his comfortable desk chair and walked over to the book shelf staring at it for several seconds before he pulled off a single medical text book. Taking it over he sat back down in his desk chair, and placed his feet up on the desk opening the text book he began to read. It was a book focusing on anatomy and physiology, he had already read some texts on both space/time and taijutsu and now it was time to educate himself more about medical things.

As he read, he made small notations on a notepad on his desk his mind focused entirely on the topic at hand as he increased his knowledge base. Whichever method he ended up choosing, he intended to be at least competent in all of the fields that he could be. He knew that space/time would afford him a surprising amount of techniques against any foe who was not well versed in it. It could offer him a degree of control over the battle field that he otherwise would have lacked. Taijutsu would afford him as being a far more competent close range fighter. He would become a force to be reckoned with considering the speed and strength that he had developed would benefit this field the most.

His chakra potency was a draw back when he looked at either medical or space/time, but he would still be able to perform some of the higher end techniques. Medical would afford him the ability to save the lives of those close to him on the battle field should they become injured. With what had happened to his team against Maku it was making him lean more and more towards learning the medical specialization. As he read this anatomy and physiology book he was learning that he could also turn the medical specialization into something deadly.

Something that he could use to save the lives of comrades should he need to and also something that he could use to slaughter his foes, or his friends should the need arise per his orders from the Raikage. He leaned forwards placing the book on top of the desk and leaning back. As he stared at the ceilings he began to weigh the pros and cons of each specialty that he was considering. Taijutsu seemed to be a bit redundant considering his rather proficient weapons abilities. Space/time was such an esoteric art that there really wasn’t much for him to learn from the normal routes.

He would be forced to branch out on his own and create techniques which would take even longer for him to become proficient than the other two specialties. Medical would force him even more firmly into the support role as a shinobi, where he would need to rely on someone like Reizo, Komon, or Komori to assist him. Plus medical had the added fact that the truly dangerous and life saving techniques would force him to focus more on medical than Fuuinjutsu or Weaponry. He would need to lie the two to the wayside and make medical his primary focus for quite awhile in order to truly achieve something that was useful with it.

He was very much learning towards the medical specialty, his desires to heal himself or his team were incredibly strong considering what had happened with the S rank Missing shinobi Maku, he was even more inclined to go towards the specialty. With that thought he raised a hand to his bare chest running it absentmindedly not just over his burn scars but many of the other scars he had accumulated over his career so far. With a sigh he pushed himself up and headed towards his bedroom. He had made his decision and would begin his training in it tomorrow. As he headed to the bedroom he gave another weary sigh, knowing that his decision was going to add a lot more to his plate.

He didn’t have a single day off coming up, but that wouldn’t matter. The Lord Raikage had given Senshi his marching orders, and the young man would follow them or die trying. Plus word had it that you could eventually grow used to not sleeping, or at least he hoped that this was the case. The next morning he had awoken at his usual four am time, mostly because he was used to waking at this time but partly because he needed to get a head start on his day. If he was ever going to master this specialty then he needed to give his entire focus to it.

As he maneuvered through the house he placed his wrappings on, throwing the Jounin jacket on over his wraps before he moved off to eat. Once he had consumed his usual breakfast he placed his weapons on his body before turning and leaving out his front door, placing C rank, Fuuinjutsu lock on the door more out of habit than fear that someone was going to break in. As he moved through the village, towards his intended destination he marveled at how dead it was. Everyone still asleep in their beds, enjoying the relative peacefulness living in a shinobi village offered them.

None of them knew the predator that lurked in their midsts. The predator that was also currently their primary protectors. They didn’t know that he and the Raikage’s doppleganger would destroy this entire village should they find that they couldn’t defeat any potential invaders. Mostly the killing wouldn’t bother him, despite his popularity in the village he had no attachment to the majority of them. It was only the thought of killing Max and Reizo that was causing him a great deal of concern. He didn’t want to kill Komon or Komori either, but despite the amount of training and missions he had done with the twins he wasn’t particularly attached to them yet.

They had come along after his Genjutsu exam, and he had already begun hardening his heart towards any sense of attachment. Thus he was finding it harder to attach to the two, the way that he had built a bond with Reizo and Max. Still he would do his duty and kill them all if they needed to. His desire however was instead to make them all as strong as possible so that they could successfully repel any potential invasion. For if they could win then Senshi wouldn’t need to kill them, and if he didn’t need to kill them then Kumo could continue to grow and prosper. That was the best outcome, the one he hoped for the most. He would also continue to assist any other shinobi in order to make them as strong as possible.

The more strong shinobi that Kumo had, the better it would be in the event someone decided to invade. Senshi finally looked up as he arrived at the hospital, it was time to embark on the training he needed to become not only a medical specialist, but also to make it his main specialization. Moving forwards he pushed the door opened walking towards the main front desk where a rather tired secretary sat. Moving up to her he spoke in a clipped tone. “Good morning, I need to conduct training in the medical specialty. Can you direct me towards where I can work at.” The tired woman looked at Senshi blankly for a moment before she finally responded tiredly.

“Room 304, sir.” Senshi nodded before giving her a polite nod of thanks and heading towards the room he had been directed to. He was surprised by how quiet and dead the hospital was he traversed the stairs to the third floor. Once he arrived at the room he entered to see a lone nurse sitting quietly. She stood hurriedly when he entered but he waved it off and began speaking immediately. “I need to receive medical training, I have some basic skills in it and have read several texts on the topics but I need to further my knowledge.” She gave a nervous nodded staring at all the weapons that he was carrying with what Senshi could easily pick up as fear.

“Of course, sir, just give me one moment to get set up.” Senshi nodded and proceeded to take Gureto of his back and lean her against the door. She wouldn’t exactly be useful in these close quarters anyways. Right now he need to be focused on learning, and she would just get in the way. He did however leave the heavens sorrow ninjato on his back. She would still be useful since she was shorter and he was decently sure the blade wouldn’t get in his way at all. Gureto was just so massive at her seven foot height that it made it hard sometimes to operate in small areas. Then again Senshi was so large himself that operating in small areas was equally hard for him.

A weakness that he couldn’t fix, thus he had made himself incredibly strong in order to break out of small areas easily. He looked up as the nurse walked back in, wheeling two carts. One of the them had three manikin bodies on them, the other had various tools and instruments on it. Senshi moved forwards to assist her taking the manikens off the trolly cart and placing them so that they laid against the wall. The nurse had finished laying out all of her equipment before turning to him and indicating towards one of the manikens that only had a head and torso. Nor arms or legs were attached to it. Senshi grabbed it and placed it on top of the trolly cart and then waited her to begin the lesson.

Medic Senshi Empty Re: Medic Senshi

Sat Mar 04, 2017 8:51 pm
The nurse began her explanation, “So we will start with CPR, this means cardio pulmonary resuscitation. You will place your hands like so on the person and then every five presses you will lean over and breathe air into the person.” She then lent over the dummy placing one hand over the other, right above the sternum and began to push. After her first five presses she moved to the dummies mouth, tilting its chin back carefully, pluggig its now, and then breathing into it. “Now you go.” Senshi nodded leaning over the dummy and placing his hands over the sternum just as she did.

He made sure to meter his strength out so that he didn’t completely crush the dummy. That would after all be an instant fail. He pressed down five times, then took a step to the side and bent over the head of the dummy. Tilting the head back he plugged its nose and then began to breathe into its mouth. He repeated the process several times until the woman began to speak again.  “Good job, Jounin, er Sir.” She paused awkwardly like Senshi would get mad at her but he simply waved her to go on. “The next thing we will go over is basic medical things like the proper application of a bandage and tourniquet.” She reached over to the cart pulling off several items.

One of which was a Combat Application Tourniquet, or CAT for short. It was a black piece of material that had a Velcro snap so you could make it tighter. It also had a small metal rod on it that you could twist to tighten it even further on somebodys limb. “First we will go over tourniquets. They are applied about two inches above the wound, or if the joint like the elbow or knee is in the way then you apply it two inches above the joint.” She demonstrated as she was speaking appling the tourniquet first to the manniquens fore arm and then to its upper arm, just above the elbow. She handed it over to him and Senshi practiced quickly putting it on various parts of the manniequens body.

He was mainly focused on the quick application of the item to the leg or the upper arm so that he knew in the event someone lost a limb around him again he would be able to do this quickly. “Also, if you need to stop bleeding quickly and then put the tourniquet on you can apply pressure to the major artery.” She then leaned over the manniquen showing Senshi on the leg where the major artery needed to be blocked at, and on the arm as well. He reached over placing his hand on the inside of the mennequiens thigh, close to the groin and pressed in the correct spot. He then repeated the process with the upper arm, near the arm pit making sure he knew where to press.

Once he had completed this she reached over to the cart pulling out a bandage and some wraps. “Now for applying a bandage you want to place this part,” she held a small cotton square before continueing. “over the wound, then you use the wraps to cover the entirety of the cotton square and two inches above and below it.” As she spoke she demonstrated again on the manniquen. She was swift in her actions through the obvious amount of practice she had been given. “Now you want to ensure that it isn’t so tight as to cut off circulation. Make sure you can comfortably fit a finger under the top or bottom of the wrap.” Senshi nodded in understanding as he accepted the bandages.

She then pointed at the mannequin indiqueting where a wound might be and Senshi bent over applying the bandages as she had shown. He ensured that the entire cotton piece was covered and then made it so that the bandage covered just over two inches above and below the bandage. He then tested his work to ensure that it wasn’t too tight. She gave a nod of approval before reaching over and grabbing a larger cotton piece and a small water bottle. “Now in the event someone is disemboweled you will want to grab their bowls and place them gently on top of the persons stomach. Have them lie back and either elevate their legs with something or have then keep their legs up.”

She laid on the ground demonstrating what she was saying before standing back up and continuing speaking. “You do this because it reduces tension on the abdominal area. Once you have their intestines on top of their stomach you wet a piece of guaze and then carefully cover the intestines and the wound.” She wet the gauze thoroughly before bending over the mannequin and placing it on its stomach. “You do this because you don’t want the guaze to stick to anything. From there you use a bandage and lightly, very lightly wrap the gauze in place so that it will hold the intestines. But remember not too tight.” Senshi gave her a confirming nod before she handed him a piece of gauze and another wrap along with a water bottle.

He then turned grabbing the mannequin with legs and placed it on the ground. Kneeling down he bent over the mannequin and pushed its legs up so they bent at the knees and took the strain and tension off its abdominal muscles. He then wet the gauze placing it gently over the manequins stomach and using his superior strength gently lifted the mannequin while he wrapped the gauze in place lightly. The nurse then bent over inspecting his work before giving a satisfied nod. “All right the final basic first aid technique is how to deal with a sucking chest wound.” She grabbed two pieces of plastic off her cart and some tape.

She then knelt down next to Senshi and began to explain. “A sucking chest wound happens when someone has their lung pierced. When this happens that lung begins to collapse and fill with blood. This in turn causes the opposite lung to begin collapsing as well. In order to combat this you need to completely seal one side of the chest with a non permeable material.” She held up the plastic piece to show him what she meant, indicating that the item could not be breathable. It couldn’t allow air to enter or leave it, instead it needed to be capable of completely sealing off the wound. “Then one the back of the person you will place another piece of non permeable material, only this time you will leave one side of it open so that it can breathe.”

Now she bent over the mannequin and quickly placed the plastic piece on the things chest before taping down all sides. She rolled the manniquen on its side and repeated the procedure except, this time she left one side untapped. “Once you do this the lung will be able to reinflate and they will be able to breathe easier. They will still need immediate medical attention however to be saved.” Senshi nodded again to show that he understood and was following along with the explanation. “From there you roll the person on to their side, you want to roll them onto the side that the opening is on however so that it can drain freely.”

She then handed Senshi the materials and he practiced palcing them on the mannequin and rolling it into the rescue position. He repeated the procedure several times before looking back up at the nurse indicating that he was ready to move on. She gave a pleased nod to the Jounin after checking his work over and turned grabbing an IV bag and a needle off of it. “The final most basic medical procedure, that doesn’t require chakra, is inserting an IV.” She held up the small needle that had two little blue flaps on either end. Otherwise known as a butterfly needle. “Now first thing you need to do is find a good vein, usually in the crook of the elbow.” She placed the needle and IV bag on the ground turning back to her cart and grabbing a stretch of plastic material.

“Now you may need to tie something tight around the persons arm in order to make the vein pop out.” She then bent over the mannequin tying the material tight around its arm right where the arterie she had shown him earlier was located. “From there you check to find a good vein, if you are still have difficulty you can have the person either make a fist and squeeze several time or you can slap the skin in the area you are looking for.” She again took a moment to demonstrate on the mannequin, first forcing its hand open and closed several times, and then slapping the skin gently with two fingers multiple times. From there she reached over grabbing the needle. “Now you’ll want to gently slide the needle in like so,”

She slide the needle into the mannequins fake vein, “Then pull the needle out leaving the catheter it has in place.” She pulled back removing the needle leaving only a small catheter in place. Then she turned grabbing the IV bag and started hooking it up. “Once you have the IV bag hooked up you want to place it somewhere above the patients head.” Senshi nodded and then she handed him all the materials he would need to practice himself. “Don’t forget to untie your material after you have the needle in place though.” Senshi nodded and set to work practicing putting an IV in a person. As he practiced he noticed that it was significantly harder than she had made it look. He found that sometimes he had to wiggle the needle around in the mannequin before he finally managed to get it into the vein.

Or he discovered if he wasn’t gently enough the vein would explode for lack of a better word and then he would be stuck trying to find another vein to place it in. Once he had spent over thirty minutes practicing it, he found that he was quickly becoming more and more careful with the technique. While for most wounds, would probably be using a chakra based technique to heal them he knew that these skills we valuable. IF he was low on chakra then he would know how to still be capable of helping someone. Not to mention even with chakra techniques he would not be able to rehydrate a person quickly or give them more blood without these skills. As such they were beyond necessary for someone looking to specialize in this field.

It also greatly increased his knowledge base and allowed him to learn what the medics he would soon be commanding would be doing. Finally he looked up and the nurse nodded to him before speaking again. “That’s really all I have to show you, sir. That’s the basic skills at least. The only way to improve on them is to constantly practice. Once you gain some more skills, I’m sure the hospital would love to have you around and allow you to practice on low risk patients in order to improve.” Senshi nodded as he stood up and began to help her with cleaning up of the materials. As he did so he finally spoke allowed to her, since he had largely kept his silence through all of the training.

“Thank you for your assistance. It is a good class, might I suggest you provide it to the academy. These skills would be invaluable for any shinobi to learn, not just the ones who end up wanting to specialize in the medical field.” She gave an almost nod, her face registering surprise that he found the class not only beneficial but that he wanted it added to the academy curriculum. “I rather agree with you sir.” Senshi nodded and once they had finished cleaning up he gave a polite good bye before heading towards the training grounds. He had many things he still needed to do.
