Gotcha
Mon Mar 03, 2014 7:49 pm
Another day another profit, was probably what Goroboro Takeshi thought when he saw the old man walking alone at night. This was not the part of town you wanted to walk alone in, let alone at this time, when the yellow lights and red signs were put down. But for the most part, Takeshi was hoping that this guy had the goods. It was a quiet night for the thief, and likely the most quiet since he started this side job of stealing. The streets were stark empty and one could hear the snoring of the dogs in each black alley.
Truth be told, Takeshi was annoyed. He was already behind on rent and if he didn't get a good turnout tonight he'd be in some real shit. The business had been profitable during the last carnival when the hoards of drunks walking around the village was at an all time high. But this was the quiet time of the year, and Takeshi was just hoping for a dozen or so people to stand up. Instead he got one. This old man hobbled along and the sound of his cane overwhelmed the otherwise silent setting, and all of it seemed to annoy Takeshi.
Quickly, he descended to where the man walked in his hobbled way, and he took out his short knife. "Gimme' the shiny stuff, gramps, and no one's gotta die today." The elderly man looked up with quite some effort, his head shaking as if he had not strained his neck in such an angle in years.
"Die today?" The man's voice didn't sound as old as his demeanor. Takeshi gave out an annoyed sigh. Was the man confused? Did he not know that he was being threatened? The thief pushed his knife closer until its tip rested below the old man's chin. He lifted up the man's head with it, revealing more of his face.
"Yes gramps, die. No one's gotta die today if you just cooperate!"
That's when the man grinned, revealing white jagged teeth. Takeshi noticed a bit too late that the eyes of his victim were much too youthful to belong to someone so old. But if he had been doubtful before, he was sure now, because that grin did not belong to the retired and resigned.
"Oh but I insist... that someone dies."
A cold chill ran up Takeshi's spin when he felt the twin blades at either side of his ribs. When he looked forward to the old man, the man had moved closer, past Takeshi's poised blade, closer to Takeshi's face. He was much younger. Probably a shinobi. Fuck. The arrest was swift and effortless, and on their way back to the station Takeshi noticed the large signs laid out asking people to take a detour due to construction. Whoever this man was had been watching the pattern of when and where people were being robbed, and he had made sure others wouldn't come by. It ensured that Takeshi was desperate and careless when someone finally came by. But it also made sure that if Takeshi were to do something, no civilian would be around to see what this man did to Takeshi.
