The Dark Cave [Solo, Mission] Empty The Dark Cave [Solo, Mission]

Fri Feb 21, 2014 11:44 pm
The Dark Cave:

Vergil walks through the village, his mind full of absolutely nothing. While it is true that he was indeed a critical thinker almost all the time, it seemed as if he was heading nowhere at the moment. Stuck in a hard place as he realized after meeting Koroshi that he would have to do more missions in order to gain enough ryo to be prepared for leaving the village. Not to mention his leave was not guaranteed, as he would have to defeat the kage in duel, in order to gain his official approval. Though he is tempted to leave the village on his on stead, he decides that by doing things the current way he would be able to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. If he defeats Koroshi, it would show that his clan was better, and more befitting of the title 'strongest'. Also, by the time he would battle the boy, he would already have enough ryo to sit comfortably, not worrying about where he would get his next meal, but of course in order for all of this to come to reality, he would need ryo, and what better way besides robbing the old, than to do missions.

Entering the Missions Department, Vergil heads towards the counter, giving the shinobi in charge his information, rank, name, etc...After this is done, the man turns around walks over towards a wall, and pulls down a sheet of paper. Returning, he reaches over the counter with his left hand, handing the paper to Vergil lazily, his hand flopping back on the counter as he takes a seat. The man's horrible attitude, angers Vergil. He was supposed to be someone of authority, a role model to the younger ninja, but instead he was behaving this way. Tightening his left fist, he bites his lower lip, and turns around, back towards the door, fighting every urge he has to rip off the man's face. While walking out of the building, Vergil lifts up the paper, reading the contents of the mission that was pretty much randomly given to him. The mission requested his aid in investigating a cave, though this was not any ordinary cave. According to the mission, villagers have reported hearing disturbing sounds coming from it, screams, and such. The mission required him to begin the search at night, where the supposed activities heighten in occorrence.  Looking up at the sky, it seemed to be nearing the time where he would have to begin, but first Vergil wanted to try something.

Pressing both of his feet onto the ground, his calf muscles bulging, slowly expanding in size, he disappears. A cloud of sand spiraling in a circle, where he previously stood. He reappears at the door of his cave/home. Pushing away the boulder which blocks it, he enters his home quietly. The cave consisted of a stack of hay, four-feet in height, a desk, and a mirror, which lies on the floor of the cave. Walking towards the desk, Vergil opens the top drawer, reaching into it with his right hand, he slowly removes a kunai, its tip stained with blood. Staring at the kunai in bliss, Vergil closes the drawer, and is about to exit the room when he notices a mask laying upon the desk, it was not there before.....or maybe it was, and Vergil didn't see it, he also remembers placing it somewhere else earlier. Reaching out towards the mask with his left hand, a single finger touches the mask, and instantly Vergil hears a heart wrenching scream. With drawing his hand, he stumbles backwards grabbing his face before exiting, the sound of the scream still echoing in his mind.

A now shirtless Vergil walks through the desert, a kunai in his right hand. His slim, yet abnormally toned upper body exposed. The hot air of the desert suddenly cools as night falls, and Vergil arrived at his destination. Standing in front of a large cave, three oval entrances in front of him. Without hesitating, he walks through the one at the center, striding through the hole confident in his decision. Now, for the inspection. Activating his byakugan, Vergil slowly walks through the cave. Each of his steps carefully taken, as he was aware of the possibility of booby traps to be planted within the cave. Turning each corner slowly, Vergil hears nothing. Only the sound of echoing water as it drops, which was strange. It rarely rained in the desert, and the last time it did so, was several months ago, so it would be strange for there to be remaining residue.

Of course, it was possible for the cave to have some sort of natural water source, stemming from the ground, similar to the one in his home, which he occasionally uses to clean himself, and whatnot, but this in itself was still unlikely. Moving through the darkness of the cave, Vergil wonders what the outcome would be if he were to be suddenly attacked, or if the cave itself collapsed. Surely he would die right? Hopefully nothing like that would happen, during the mission, as he already had enough to worry about. While he randomly thinks this, he hears a sound coming from his left. Turning around, he shouts out towards the mysterious darkness, "Who's there?" A minute passes, and there is no reply. Raising his kunai, he lunges towards where he heard the sound, and slices through the air, the kunai cutting through something. Unsure of what it is, Vergil kneels over, and touches it with his bear hands. It was a bat of course, nothing life threatening, at least to him anyway. Dropping the bat to the ground, he continues through the cave.

Once again, he hears a noise, this one more intriguing than the last. Moving towards it, Vergil feels his way through the dark, and grasps onto an unknown object. A slim oval shape, he recognizes it as a bottle. Pulling it towards him, he stares at the label, and to his amaze, it's more than two hundred years old. What a rare find! Plucking the cork off with his index finger, he takes a swig. Wine! And it was the finest he had ever tasted. Downing the whole thing, he throws it against the wall once finished. A random act of violence, as he now stumbles through the cave. He had forgotten his bodies low tolerance for alcohol.

The rhythmic dropping sound slowly becomes louder, as Vergil nears its place of origin. Turning the final corner, he lifts his kunai up in a defensive position. Peeking his head around the edge, Vergil shoots out from behind the wall, before properly checking everything, he spins in a circular motion his kunai aimed to rip through everything in his vicinity. Unfortunately, there is nothing. Not a single soul in sight. Looking towards the ceiling, he sees the drop of whatever, fall towards him. Side stepping it, he looks down at the ground, and recognizes the construct. It was something so shocking, that it caused Vergil to drop his kunai in disbelief, the sound of the metal echos loudly through the cave, as he stares at the drop of poop. Yes, indeed it was poop. Apparently something had been pooping in the caves, staring upwards, this time without the aid of his byakugan, he notices a bird, a hawk to be exact. Rather large in size, the bird stares at him for a moment before shrieking loudly.

Vergil stands in shock for a moment, turning around he walks away from the room in disbelief. 'Who would have ever thought the culprit to be someone of 'that' particular category. Laughing, he walks back towards the village. It seems the villagers were wrong in their assumption, nothing was going on in the cave, besides a bird shitting, while screaming, odd, but that was the bitter truth. Well, at least he had done his job, as-well as a drink, and now he could collect his well deserved reward.
