Hellaniko Mayori's first Day

After a two day journey that included precisely forty five minutes of Hellaniko Mayori's preferred nautical means of sea travel, the native of Island Village had finally made it to the Kumogakure's Ninja Academy. As he walked in, he thought about covering up the lobster on his shirt that represented his family's store, lest he remind his future classmates about the Cloud City's violent takeover of his city. Then he realized that he could probably write "Island Village" on everything he owned, and not one would know what he was talking about. Besides, as his father had said, Island Village was part of Sky Nation now; the students he would encounter here would be friends and allies, not enemies.

Thirty minutes later, Mayori had gotten directions to the pond and trees where Kumokagure students practiced Surface Walking, one of the manipulations of chakra learned by would be ninja. The young ninja who had given him directions had gotten an off color joke about blind dogs and fresh octopus which is probably best left unmentioned. Mayori had of course come to Kumokagure's attention by briefly walking on water, so he figured this would be as good a place as any to start. He tentatively set foot on the water, only to find that he had in fact tentatively set foot through the water. A second attempt produced similar results.

"Okay, third time's the charm, just got to get a good start."

Taking off from the shore, Mayori finally had a good steam. And his first step was, ON the pond. He gleefully sprinted four more steps, just enough to get him into chest deep water.

SPLASH!

The noise startled two other students training nearby.

"So, what's the difference between an academy student and a duck?" Asked Hellaniko "When a duck makes a splash, it also makes a meal." The students were not amused
