There were only two ninjas with such grotesque skills in calligraphy in the village, and one of them was undertaking his adventure far from here. That left only one choice. Reading through, Ayato came to appreciate the gesture from Shinrei Yamato Terumi. 

The Kage wanted to reciprocate the gift; he could consider giving something meaningful and personalized. He thought about writing a heartfelt letter expressing his gratitude for their friendship and reminiscing about their time as genin teammates. He could also include some anecdotes or inside jokes that they share. A personalized item: Ayato could give something unique to Shinrei's interests.
