Practice with a True Hunter

The wolf's ally and teammate Zeref Senju had requested him here, hoping to get some individualized combat training in preparation for what must have been some sort of dangerous mission or such. The reasons why didn't matter as much to the young Lycan, for he was just grateful to assist his teammate as best he could. 

The wolf would not say that he was fully capable of everything that the Senju was capable of, but he had seen enough to have a rough outline. Either way, with this being a more advanced combat scenario the wolf fully expected to see Zeref pull out all of the stops here. If he didn't? Well, lets just not think about that and focus on more positive thoughts. 

It was early in the morning, far earlier than the wolf had usually started any sort of shinobi work. He put off his duties to the church because he figured this was more pressing. Plus, his dabbles into the shinobi arts have created some opportunities to increase efficiency when cutting wood and hauling it to the village. If it all worked like he expected it to, the church would be his next stop. Loghain pondered if these Fuinjutsu seals were as effective as the book had suggested they were. He would shrug, noting the lack of shinobi here at the training grounds. Perhaps it was a bit too early for them to be here, for the morning sun was just cracking through the eastern horizon. The chill of the morning air would seep into the wolf, his breath creating a light fog on each exhalation. Winter was slowly marching its way towards them. 

The wolf would wait for his comrade, sitting on a rock resting approximately in the center of a large field 25 meters in radius. The field was roughly circular, though not a perfect circle of course. Still, the difference between the circle being perfect and its current state was fairly miniscule and not enough that it should matter much in practice. A few large boulders littered the training field, likely the remnants of yesterdays training exercised. Well, at least because of it the werewolf had a nice seat to rest while awaiting Zeref's appearance.

It was an important day for Zeref , he had received word that he would be going on an extremely dangerous mission soon , one that he may not return from if he makes to grave of a mistake along the way. In preparation for such a mission he thought it be best to get the closest thing he could to live combat and he had the perfect person in mind to help him with that. It had been extremely early in the morning and he was pretty sure that his sparring partner for the day would already be there waiting his arrival , being late was something that he unfortunately couldn’t help. 

Knowing he had kept his friend waiting he immediately put on his armor and didn’t waste anymore time getting to the area where they would be having their match at. He couldn’t help but be slightly nervous but at the same time extremely excited , especially since he would be able to see a lot more of what Loghain had in his arsenal. Zeref had seen Loghain fight before but never in the manner he expects it to be at today , because today will be a lot more challenging than the mission they had went on together.  

As he arrived at the training grounds there was some trees that had surround the 25 meter area that they would sparring in. Before walking out from behind the trees he decided it would be best to make a shadow clone and have him use the hiding in the mole jutsu and have him burrow deep enough where he wouldn’t be seen moving around the battle field. The clone would stay 3 meters in front of Zeref and will always do so unless told otherwise. 

As he walked up to Loghain he would stop 10 meters from then bolder he was sitting and would say, “Sorry to keep you waiting , let’s not waste anymore time shall we this armor is a pain in the ass to carry around so if your ready here I come”, Zeref would say as he would immediately begin forming handsigns. Upon completion trees would form around them close enough to where it seemed like they were merged together, encircling them in a 20 meter wide and 5 meter tall area with the bolder Loghain was on still being the center point. 

He would watch and see what Loghain first move was , if he tried interrupting Zeref jutsu the clone would be able to sense it or hear a stomp that would que the clone to come out and get in between the two. If he was able to get his jutsu off he would immediately start forming handsigns for his next jutsu all the while making sure to keep his eye on his opponent.

The Lycan would wait hoping that the Senju wouldn't take too long to arrive. Once Zeref had gotten into range the keen nose of the wolf would pick up his scent approaching. The wolf would glance up, seeing the Senju walking his way wearing full body armor of some sort. Loghain didn't recall ever seeing the youth in such prior, but honestly he was grateful to see that Zeref was taking this seriously. Not taking this seriously would only end in great disappointment for the Senju. As he approached Loghain would rise from his seated position, wondering how Zeref was going to handle this. Would there be discussion first, or would they go right into it? The fact that Zeref made his presence known to the wolf was the honorable thing to do, for the Senju could have always went for some sort of sneak attack. This choice impressed the wolf, for it suggested that the Senju was confident enough in his skills to not apply and subtlety or 'underhanded' tactics. The young Senju would stop 10 meters from the wolf. Zeref would state that the armor was a pain to walk around in, which was something the wolf fully understood. He was not fond of the constricting feeling of armor either, so he would not be wearing any. As soon as Zeref started to move to weave hand seals the wolf would spring into action. 

There was a clone buried in the earth 3 meters in front of Zeref and 9 meters underground, though the wolf was not really aware of this additional adversary. The wolf would dash directly towards the Senju that was weaving seals for some sort of jutsu. Loghain had little reason to want to see this technique completed. Still, despite his speed there was little chance that he could close the gap between them as quickly as Zeref could weave the needed seals. Still, he would simultaneously weave his own seals as he begins his sprint, forming all of the seals needed for his deadly mist. He would weave the seals even more quickly than Zeref thanks to his impressive physical capabilities due to his wolf blood.  Zeref would begin using his Wood Style to create a circle around them with a diameter of 20 meters. It would seem as if he was trying to create some sort of cage for the wolf. The wolf would inhale partway through his dash, approximately halfway between his initial position and the target. The beast would  tilt his head downward aiming at a spot approximately 0.5 meters from where his target was while maintaining visual on his target. Loghain exhaled while he moved, the mist spouting out of his mouth towards Zeref while he speeds at the man. The mist would not move fast enough to make too much progress, but it would billow and follow behind the wolf as if he were dragging it with him. If he got to the target without having to change his plans due to some currently unforeseen attack he would grab the Senju by the facemask with his right hand, lifting it off of his head while simultaneously thrusting the other around the neck of Zeref and lifting him off of the ground by his throat. 

The mist would follow covering the area in a potent toxin spreading to fill an area of a 10 meter radius circle with its midpoint approximately 3 meters from Zeref's initial position.

Ok I guess having that clone follow me was a good idea after all”, he thought to himself. He was happy that he had made a safety net just in case something like this would happen. He had already figured that Loghain speed would be more than his but he didn’t expect it to be as fast as he was, but the moment Zeref seen Loghain move he had his foot on the ground telling the clone to come closer to the edge of the only inches from bursting through the ground. As Loghain made his sprint towards Zeref he could see a purple mist spewing from the wolfs mouth, and he couldn’t help but be slightly worried about the mist since it was something he has never seen before. 

Since the clone was able to sense the movement of Loghain he knew exactly when the right moment would be to shoot out the ground and grab him. The clone would wait for the right time and jump out in between Zeref and Loghain , giving Zeref just enough time to compete his next set of handsigns and upon completion he would jump two meters into the air and expeled a great deal of Water directly from their mouths, this water rapidly expanding outwards and forming a massive flood that starts to fill up the area crushing everything in its path. Should Loghain not be strong enough to withstand the attack he most likely be swept up in the massive flood that quickly filled up the arena. 

Once the water was done filling the area Zeref would have waves flowing outward from him across the now lake, he would also begin forming new handsigns just in case and upon completion he would touch the water and form five sharks underneath. He would have those sharks lined up around him in a circle formation , waiting to see Loghain moving through the water, making sure not to move his hand from the water. He had hoped that Loghain had something up his sleeve because Zeref wasent going to be holding anything back. He would make sure to keep his eyes on the water around him just in case Loghain would try something sneaky. 

He had not forgotten about the purple mist , it had now reached its max ranges but it didn’t so much to the young senju thanks to his dna. His body immediately reconized the poison that the mist had and was trying to fight it off , and while using his one free hand he would weave a few handsigns and in a matter of seconds the poison effect was no more.

The Senju was quickly weaving seals, likely hoping to cast some sort of technique to stop the wolf in his tracks. Unfortunately, the Senju must have expected something to delay the wolf which didn't succeed as planned.  The path that the wolf travelled was completely clear of obstructions. The Senju would find the wolf connecting with his assault, removing the cloth helm with one hand and grabbing and lifting Zeref off the ground with the other. 

"Do you yield?" Loghain would ask, unsure if the confident challenger had any tricks up his sleeve. The conscious decision to resist by going for a weapon or trying weave seals in plain sight for the wolf to see would cause the wolf to react accordingly, choke-slamming the Senju into the ground head first. The impact would surely rattle the youth if he wasn't used to such. 

Should the Senju yield, Loghain would loosen his grip and let Zeref down. "Next time don't let me close the distance so easily. Use your ranged options to your advantage." The wolf would pick up the Senju's cloth helm, handing it to Zeref. 

It wouldn't be long before the toxic mist slowly crept its way to their position. If the wolf was in the throes of combat, he would simply allow the mist to blanket them, though should the Senju had surrendered the wolf would instruct them to move their positions to a safe area to talk.

OoC Breakdown: 

So here is my take. Zeref timed his actions to finish his seals based on the idea that the clone would delay Loghain. "The clone would wait for the right time and jump out in between Zeref and Loghain , giving Zeref just enough time to compete his next set of handsigns". Since Loghain was moving at full speed of 150 (speed can no longer be vagued to be slower as per my understanding of the current vague usage rules) he would cover the 10 meters between Zeref and himself in the same timeframe the clone in the ground would be able to move a little over 3.67 meters. Since I was able to specify its depth of 9 meters in my last post, it could not cover enough ground fast enough to breach the ground, let alone delay the assault of Loghain. Since Zeref didn't move or otherwise address the charge of Loghain, claiming the "hit" of removing his mask and grabbing/lifting him by the throat.

Zeref would yield to Loghain after being grabbed he knew had had lost , he also knew that there was something else he had to do. “Sorry bro I forgot I had some really important things to attend to , next time I’ll stay through the whole training exercise”, Zeref would say befor running off. He didn’t give anyone time to say anything.
