Random Jobs to Help the Village

The Akari Genin would nod politely and store that tidbit of information away for later. Sebastian would then talk about his own beginnings in the village; growing up in the labourer’s district of the village, relying on support from the various church organisations, giving back when he can. He mentioned that his status had changed in the village but didn’t really touch on why. It was a secret that bothered her; why would there be this kind of need for secrecy, especially when the village guard were treating him like some sort of threat. He didn’t seem to be there to cause trouble, perhaps the village leadership had marked something that he had done in the past? Anastasia definitely decided at some point she would need to find out why he was treated the way he was in the village. It wasn’t right that someone from the village be treated this way.

As they ate, Sebastian explained the only other mission he had been assigned today, to learn more about the village and the varying cultures that lived within its walls. He then asked Cole about himself and his past, which the boy answered. His parents were also from the village, skilled in different areas of the shinobi arts. Sadly they did not love each other the way a married couple should. Theirs was a marriage of necessity and while some couples grew to love each other, others didn’t. It would seem that his parents fell into that category. It was unfortunate; a happy family, in her opinion, was the ideal situation for a child to grow and develop. Her own upbringing showed that, at least in her eyes.

Cole then briefly talked about growing up and what he’d done to get where he was. Not likely the most enjoyable of childhoods, but he was here and he was alive, so that meant something, right? The Akari Genin would Look over at Sebastian, “I think that would cover learning about the lands we live in.” She would say to him with a smile. “Do you need to do anything else in the village? Something tells me that guard is going to escort you back to the gates once we’re done here, so we can always try to find other stuff to do if you want.” She wasn’t entirely sure what it was that his plans were, or even if he wanted to stay in the village longer than he needed to, but she would still make the offer regardless.

Loghain would listen as Cole spoke, telling a bit about himself and his clan. His parents were respected shinobi, and he was being trained to follow in their footsteps to also travel a similar path it would seem. There was a deeply ingrained sense of duty in the man's parents and the young wolf wondered if that same trait passed down to Cole. His final words made sense to the wolf. "You bear such a burden, yet you don't seem to let it get to you. A fine trait to have." Loghain wished that he was capable of such a thing, his own burdens oftentimes proving to be too much. Self doubt has the ability to seep into any crack if allowed, something the wolf struggled with when referring to his particular affliction.

Anastasia would speak up, to which the wolf would nod. "Yes, I have learned a great deal about two local families. Thank you both for your assistance in this matter." Loghain would offer a smile before taking the final bite of his sandwich. 

"I appreciate the offer, but it is best that I return to my cabin sooner rather than later." He might not have known the details, but he knew from his dealings with Dr. Terumi that his body absorbed some kind of energy that seemed to trigger the transformation. "It was a pleasure to meet you both. I look forward to working together in the future." 

With that said, he would rise and make his way out of the house, thanking the elderly lady once more for her hospitality. Upon opening the door his escort would be hovering right outside. "I am ready to head to the gates."

Once Cole was finished with his little tale for the two he sat and waited finishing off his sandwich as Anastasia asked if Sebastian had anything else he wanted to do. Cole figured that she was thinking the same thing as he was. That the guards would escort him back out of the village once he was done. Cole thought the guy was pretty cool compared to most he had met so far in the village. Sebastian was one of the few people he thought he would be able to get along with and probably could train with. He wasn’t sure why but he just got this feeling like lighting running down his spine that the man was dangerous, and that was the reason he wanted to train with him at some point and get an idea of just what he could do.

With Sebastian turning down the offer and getting up Cole would follow suit giving the old woman thanks as he followed Sabastian out the house. Once outside he would turn and look at both Sebastian and Anastasia “if you guys don’t mind we should do some training at some point. I need strong training partners” he would ask the two. Once they had agreed or disagreed it didn’t really matter too much to Cole it was more curiosity than anything. He would turn and walk away calling it a day.

It would seem that this was the last mission they would need to complete for the day, which suited Anastasia just fine. It meant she could spend the rest of the night training. She was expecting a delivery from her father tonight and it might give her time to start training with them. Loghain would stand up and excuse himself, leaving the old woman’s home, likely to be escorted back to the gates by the guard that was waiting outside.

Cole was the next to leave, but not before offering to do some additional training with them. “Sounds good to me. I’m always looking for good training partners,” she would say to him. He would leave as well after that. Anastasia would then herself get up, thank the old woman for the meal, and make her way out of the home.

She wasn’t in a rush to get back home, so she’d take a more circuitous route back to her apartment. This route took her through the Water Gardens, her favourite place in the village. There were a significant number of people here, but that made sense because of how beautiful it was. She walked through at a leisurely pace, enjoying the sights before heading back home.

Upon arriving home, she noticed that there was a crate just outside her door. Her heartbeat quickened; they were finally here.
