Alone in the desert. Travelling from one town to another was always the most boring part of being a travelling missing ninja. On the good days it Serah found new and interesting to talk to. On the bad days, someone wanting to take her money. She didn’t know what exactly she was going to get from this metaphorical box of chocolates, so she walked on through this mostly flat desert landscape. Cactuses and brush were the only life forms that she saw as she walked, save for a couple lizards here and there that darted in and out of their hiding holes. Oh, and the vultures that occasionally circled over raw meat. She was dressed in a white shirt and a pink skirt with shorts underneath.

She wore a farmer’s hat she got a few towns back that shaded her head from the sun but it didn’t do much to stop her from sweating. On occasion she would take a swig of her large multigallon container of water that was nearly empty. Her map told her she was only a couple hours from the next town. She lacked anything that might signal that she was dangerous and truly she didn’t feel very dangerous as she was primarily a healer. That being said she had the ability to get pretty beefy and punch someone into next week if she felt like it. That was what she relied on when trouble came around.

Daiki had just gotten done sleeping off a night of running away from the land of River after a poker game went wrong. When he woke up he quickly realized that he was in fact in the sands of the land of Wind, his least favorite country on the continent that he had been in so far in his life. The sand was a bitch to travel in, the heat was a bitch to travel in, the dryness and lack of water was a bitch to live with. While he much preferred the land of river, being an absolute polar opposite to this place, he knew it would be best for him to steer clear of that area for at least a little while.

The poker game that he was playing the night before was going actually quite well, especially when you consider the usual luck that Daiki had at the tables. He was having a hot streak, clearing people chip stacks like no one’s business. He was doing well, until one guy got a little heated. He accused Daiki of cheating. Now while it was completely true that Daiki was cheating in their game, the man had no proof. Daiki did his best to plead his case, but unfortunately the people within the tavern knew that Daiki was a missing ninja, so they all just assumed that he was cheating in the game and believed the man. Due to the collective anger towards Daiki from the people in the village he was playing in, they all decided that death was the only option fitting for the missing ninja who “cheated” in their card game. Now while Daiki did certainly cheat in their game, they still didn’t have any proof!

He ran as fast as he could for as long as he could, running straight into the borders of the deserts, a place that no one in their right mind would ever choose to be in. He found himself a stone that seemed large enough to block his sight, from one side anyway, and sleep there for the night. The stone stood at 3 meters tall and sat 3 meters wide, and was 2 meters thick, covering his body completely from the sight of the road that was directly next to it or walking up towards it due to the path running almost directly into the stone. Next to the stone was the road, and next to the road was a clearing in the sand that was surrounded by giant masses of sand, standing 20 meters in the air. The circular clearing within the mounds of sand was 50 meters in diameter. The roadway was included in the 50 meter diameter clearing, the stone that Daiki was next to stood as the final wall in the clearing, being the edge of the aforementioned 50 meter diameter. Daiki was just outside the “arena” on the other side of the stone, by the thickness of the stone being 2 meters. Putting Daiki 52 meters from the other side of the clearing and at the foot of the masses of sand. He did stand only 3 meters from the center of the road that was next to the stone, and only 4 meters from the other side of the road.

He woke up inside his small indentation within the sand, but he stayed still. Wanting to make sure that he was not being ambushed he activated his Byakugan. When he looked through the area with his Byakugan, he was able to see the clearing next to him on the other side of the stone was completely clear, except for a woman that was walking along the path coming his direction, still just outside of earshot luckily, he was glad she was far enough to not hear his movements as he first began to wake up. Her attire was odd to Daiki, but quickly shrugging that off due to his being certain this was one of the people sent out to kill him. “Wow all the way out here from the land of Rivers? I really pissed those people off.”

Daiki took quick action. With his Byakugan still activated, he performed the Tiger hand seal, activating the Temporary Paralysis technique freezing his pursuant where she stood. He then performed his Quiet Footsteps technique, allowing him to move around the boulder, flanking her from behind, completely unnoticeable. Still wanting to be cautious due to his not knowing if the technique would work, he continued to flank around the stone with his katana ready to strike, he performed the move Ventriloquism when he was 2 meters behind her, which made a voice begin to whisper on the other side of the stone 1 meter in front of her and to the left. This would surely cause her to focus on the sound coming from in front of her, if she was able to move at all from the paralysis technique that she would likely be under. Daiki flanked behind the woman performing the hand seals Dog and Rat silently, activating the technique Raiton: Swift Cutting, before grabbing the katana and immediately slicing upwards through the woman’s midsection when he was within range.

Should everything go according to plan. The woman would likely be dead immediately as Daiki sliced the woman nearly in half.

-at first I was confused about how you could use a C rank ninjutsu but I see that Byakugan gives you 25 chakra. I don't know where the extra 50 speed is coming from though.-

The trip had been peaceful for the most part. By her estimates, Serah was only about a mile from the next town. The last stretch was marked on the map as being surrounded by huge walls of sand. She squinted her eyes and saw them in the distance, along with a big boulder. She thought it odd for such a large rock to be in the desert and wondered just how much of it had to be underground if it survived getting buried by all this sand. In any case, she paid it no mind until she got closer.

She had halfway cleared the stone when she planted her foot down and found that she felt some serious resistance when trying to lift her foot. “Oh great, here we go,” she thought.

“RAAAWWWWWWWRRRR” was the sound that she managed to let out while she channeled chakra through her body. She wanted to say something along the lines of, “after my eyes? Have at it you lowlife scum” but she was lucky to even get a sound out. The surge of chakra activated not only her sharingan with swirled with its double tomoe but also her chakra cloak which was her best defense against surprise attacks. The chakra coated her body, making her strong enough to rip free of the paralysis and a second layer of chakra formed to act as a mini damage reduction shield that would hopefully protect her from whatever follow up actions the enemy had.

She wanted to scale the boulder, to really assess the situation but as it seemed, there was more than one enemy. One she heard behind the boulder and another behind her with his crackling lightning jutsu that made stealth an incredibly difficult thing to maintain. Electricity right behind her sounded a lot more dangerous than a distracting voice, so she’d address that first.

She swiveled around and stepped once with her right foot towards the approaching electric sound then she threw a punch with her right hand. As it so happened she stepped as the blade was being drawn one meter from her, thus putting her front leg half a meter from her assailant and giving her enough reach to plausibly hit her mark. She had intended to intercept whatever jutsu this was but in the moment that her sharingan assessed the situation she saw that this was a sword attack. She hadn’t the time to try aiming at the blade so she instead aimed the fist for the man’s chest. Sure, maybe she would get slashed up, but she wasn’t getting hit for free. As her momentum carried her forwards and the sword came towards her stomach she attempted to grab him by his right forearm arm with her left hand to make sure he couldn’t get away, this was the one that he had used to slash at her (I’m assuming).

-I’m trying to work through the math. Correct me if I’m wrong.

80 Health + 50 from the booster = 130 Health

Damage reduction shield is 49 power without scaling, but I have 100 chakra so it should get an extra 25 power out of it.

I’m getting 130 Health with a 74 power damage reducer on top of that

150 sharpness sword (how would you beat this if you didn’t build tank lol) + your sharpness bonus

Your sharpness bonus should be 170/4 = 43, 5 more if the speed is increased with the double mastery

So a sharpness of 193-198 and a power of 38? I don’t know how power and sharpness mixes.

Daiki took not even a split second to realize that his attack was a dud and that he had a counter coming straight for him. Luckily for Daiki, he was faster than this woman. He was blown away at this woman's mere ability to withstand damage, but there was no time for him to even think. He rolled over his right shoulder away from the woman's grasp and quickly sprinted backwards, creating a distance between himself and the woman made of steel, being 40 meters away, constantly checking over his shoulder to see if he was going to need to make a sudden change in motion.

He would observe his opponent, making sure that there was nothing coming at him and hoping that he would be able to react and counter any attack that the woman may be planning on throwing at Daiki. He would stand there with his katana sheathed for the meantime, having his right hand placed firmly on the hilt of the katana, ready to continue this fight, should it in fact continue.

Heyo, I'll be the one to handle this little issue. As Serah has pointed out in her request this NPC should have +50 chakra rather than +50 speed, something that would change the stats of the NPC to the following.

"Health: 1
Chakra: 1 (+25+25)
Stamina: 23
Speed: 50
Strength: 50"

Now, due to this change in the NPC's speed, the NPC would be unable to properly dodge the attack of Sarah as he intended to in his previous post. Seeing as this was the fault of the NPC'er I will allow Serah to decide what she wishes to do, whether it be to allow some edits to the latest post or simply continue forwards and allow the moves she made in her last post to land.

The weapon itself isn't really an issue since this Katana is a common item amongst members of the site, even those of D-rank. As on the issue of ability over augment, as posted in the update itself, any weapons with abilities still present will simply be treated as though they have no abilities or augments, to prevent all of the sites weapons/armours/items from being rendered unusable.

Serah’s fist made contact but her target was already in motion and making space. In the heat of the moment she didn’t see exactly which part of the man’s upper body she’d made contact with, because he did his best to move back to lessen the blow. For now though, she had two things to think about. One was the pain that she didn’t feel, so she had to assume that her stomach was okay. Secondly, she needed to finish this guy off if there were multiple foes.

The moment that Daiki took his first step backwards Serah turned her right fist into an open palm with her fingers placed together and pointed at Daiki. Her hand glistened with chakra and then out came a blade of chakra that extended to fifteen meters in length. As the blade travelled it was aimed right at the center of Daiki’s chest.

Daiki thought he was faster than he actually was. The woman's fist would punch straight through his chest and he would simply smile, "All this for a card game?" Daiki fell backwards and the life would lift away from his body. He would finally leave this world of combat and pain.

Serah said, “Oh,” as she executed her opponent unexpectedly. She raced around the boulder and didn’t find any other opponents. “maybe he left?”. She stepped back and her heart raced. “Should I take his sword? Would that be disrespectful?” she felt that she had no need for a weapon, but if this man wasn’t going to be using his stuff she might as well do something with it, even if it meant going to the next town. She raided the body for its reinforced katana and the two fuma shuriken, and the starting ninja bundle. Then she left towards the next town. She couldn’t believe what had just happened and needed to come up with some way of detecting these sorts of attacks before they happened. She had a feeling that this was just going to keep happening until the day she finally wasn’t prepared enough.
